Roy looked over to the lunch. Sure he was only gettign started on his third chapter but he was also getting mighty hungrey. He poped it open to find a few Rice Balls, some salad and a couple of other treates. He took one of the rice balls in his hand and bit into it. "Hmmmm beef filling." He smiled and happily devoured it like a 10 year old would. He then wipped his mouth and got back to studying.

Notes on Chapter 3: Attack by Stratagem

Sun Tzu said that in the practical art of war, the best thing of all is to take the enemy's country whole and intact. To shatter and destroy it is not as good. So, it is also better to recapture an army whole than to destroy it. Even to capture smaller groupings, a regiment, a detachment, or a company in wholes instead of destroying them is better. Hence, to fight and conquer in al your battles is not supreme excellence. Supreme excellence consists in breaking the enemy's resistance without fighting. Thus, the highest form of generalship is to break the enemy's plans. The next best is to prevent the junction of the enemy's forces. The next, in order, is to attack the enemy's army in the field. The worst policy of all is to besiege walled cities.

The basic rule is; DON'T besiege walled cities if it can be avoided in any possible way. This is because the preparation of mantlets, movable shelters, and various implements of war will take up to three whole months easily. And also, the piling up of mounds over agains the walls will take another three months. The general, unable to control his iritation, will launch his men to assault like swarming ants. With the result that one-third of his men are slain while the town still remain untaken. Such are the disastrous effects of a siege.

Therefore, the skillful leader subdues the enemy's troops without any fighting. He captures their cities without laying siege to them. He overthrows their kingdom without lengthy operations in the field. With his forces intact, he wil dispute the mastery of the Empire and, without losing a man, his triumph will be complete. This is the method of attacking by stratagem.

It is the rule in war that if your forces are ten to the enemy's one, than you surround the enemy. If it is five to one, then you attack the enemy. If you are twice as numerous as them, then you divide your army into two. If equally matched, not counting to the single man but rather to the closer number, we can offer battle. If you are slighlty inferior in numbers, you can avoid the enmy. If it is quite unequal in every way, you run. Therefore, while an obnoxious attack may be made by a small force, in the end, it must be captured by the larger force...or crushed.

Now, the general is the wall of the State. If the wall is complete at all points, the State will be strong. However, if the wall is defective, the State is weak. This would explain militaries drives to create the perfect solider and villages strives to make the perfect ninja. There are three ways in which a ruler can bring misfortune upon his army: (1) By commanding the army to advance or to retreat when either of these options is impossible. This is called hobbling the army. (2) By attempting to govern an army in the same way as he administers a kingdom, being ignorant of the conditions which pertain to an army. This causes restlessness in the soldier's minds. (3) By employing the officers of his army without discrimination, through ignorance of the military principle of adaption to circumstances. This shakes the confidence of the soldiers. In other words, don't hire generals because they look good or their related to someone of power. Make someone a general who's show their worthy of that title. Place people in their proper place. Got it.

But when the army is restly and distrustful, trouble is sure to come from the other side. This is simply bringing anarcy into the army and flinging victory into your enemy's hands. Thus, we may know that there are five essentials for victory: (1) The one who knows when to fight and when not to fight will win. (2) The one who knows how to handle both superior and inferior forces will win. (3) The one whose army is animated by the same speirt thorughout all ranks will win. (4) The one who prepared himself, waits to take the enemy unprepared will win. (5) The one who has military capacity and is not interfered by the sovereign will win. Therefore, the saying goes that "If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourselfe but not the enemy, for every victory gained, you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succmb in every battle."

ROy had heard these words before. In shorter terms he had heard "Know thy enemy and know thy self." With his hand now thorughally throbing, he decided to take a break and stretch his legs. He moved around after picking up another rice ball and eatting it as he moved around looking at the other books in the area.

As Ark ran away, and saw that he was out of range, he sighed happily, and continued to stalk the streets of Iwakagure. He heard a rumor that the genin exams were about to start up once again. He wondered wow, I wonder if im going to loose Nav, and gig now...boy they have grown Hopefully, he would see one of the two soon, to see what they were up to.

After a while. Roy had finished the lunch and sat back at the desk to continue his studies of this tomb. He was enjoying it greatly and wondered what other secrets it might hold in store for him. He began to flip to the next chapter and took out his pen and pad again to begin writting.

Notes on Chapter 4: Tactical Dispositions
Sun Tzu said that the good fighters of old first put themselves beyond the possibility of defeat and then waited for an opportunity to defeat the enemy. To secure ones self against defeat is souly up to yourself but the opportunity of defeating the enemy is providded by the enmy himself. Thus, the good fighter is able to secure himself agaisnt defeat but connont make certain of defeating the enemy. Hence the saying "One may know how to conquer without being able to do it."

Security against defeat implies defensive tactics; abilities to dfeat the enemy means taking the offensive. Standing on the defensive indicates insufficient strength. While standing on the officive indicates a superabundance of strength. The general who is skilled in defense hides in the most secret of recesses of the earth. He who is skilled in attack flashes forth from the topmost heights of heaven. Thus on the one hand we have ability to protect ourselves and on the other a vicotry that is complete.

To see vicotry only when it is within the ken of the common herd is not the area of excellence. Neighter is it the area of excellence if you fight and conquer and the whole Empire says, "Well done!"

To lift a rabbit is no sign of great strength. To see the sun and moon is no sign of sharp sight. To hear the noise of thunder is no sign of a quick ear. What the hell is he talking about?What the ancients called a cleaver fighter was one who not only wins but excels in winning with ease. Hence his victories bring him neither reputation for wisdom nor creit for courage. he wins his battles by making no mistakes. Making no mistakes is what establishes the certainty of victory for it means conquering an enmy that is already defeated. Hence the skillful fighter puts himself into a position which makes defeat impossible and does not miss the moment for defeating the enemy.

Thus, it is that in war, the victorious strategist only seeks battle after the victory has been won. Whereas he who is destined to defeat first fights and afterwards looks for victory.

The consummate leader cultivates the moral law and strictly adheres to method and discipline; thus it is in his power to control success. In respect of military method, we have Measurement, Estimation of quantity, Calculation, Balanceing of chances and Victory.

Measurement owes its existence to Earth. Estimation of quantity to Measurement. Calculation to estimatin of quantity. Balancing of chances to Calculation, Victory to Balancing of chances. A victorious army opposed to a routed one is as a pounds weight placed in the scale agaisnt a single grain. The onrush of a conquering force is like the bursting of pent-up waters into a chasm a thousand fathoms deep.What?

Roy was starting to get conused. The cryptic text of the book was starting to get stranger and stranger. He needed to think more upon the subject from now on.

Goken (Strong Fist)
Gōken is the most basic form of Taijutsu. It aims at inflicting external damage and breaking bones. The gouken style also use extreme movements based on leg flexibility and spin kick for more damage.
Damage: Inceases normal taijutsu damage to 5 - 16
Requeriments: Taijutsu 20 ranks.
Training days: Must keep training all the time.

Magen: Narakumi no Jutsu (Demonic Illusion: Hell Viewing Technique)
Narakumi no Jutsu is a Genjutsu that causes its target to see a horrifying vision. The user will use the rat hand seal that causes an imaginary circle of leaves to spin and envelop the target and then fall away. Once cast, the world will appear normal to the target until they have already seen the illusion.
Cp cost: 10
Requeriments: Genjutsu 10 Ranks
Training days: 5 days.
Will Save: 10 + character level + charisma mod.

Fukumikuchi Hari (Hidden Mouth Needles)
The user is able to summon forth needles into the mouth and then spit them out at their opponent with precise accuracy.
Cp cost: N/A
Damage: Needle "Senbon" damage.
Requeriments: Dexterity 20+
Training days: 10 Days.

Doton: Shinju Zanshu no Jutsu (Earth Release: Inner Decapitation Technique)
The user, emerging from the ground below the target area, pulls down (or possibly swaps places with) the opponent so that only their head is above ground.
Cp cost: 6
Damage: N/A
Requeriments: Genin or highter rank. Must be trained to learn the jutsu.
Training days: 3 to 7 days. 2 - 5 With earth Affinity.

Konoha Reppu (Leaf Gale)
Using their quickness and agility, the user performs a spinning kick to sweep their opponent off their feet.
Damage: Taijutsu damage.
Requeriments: Gouken style fighting.
Training days: 10 days.
Special: "With this technique you can hit all enemies around you in melee."

Ark saw that Nav walked up to him and he rubbed her head. Almost giving a noogie. ''Well how have you been doing?'' he asked the young nin. ''I havnt seen Gig around much either, do you know where he is?'' he asked. Stupid me as he also thought I was gone again for a while and im asking where other people are!?! '"We really need to make a team mission sometime'' Ark finsihed as he looked around. ''I need some action around here!''

"Ah, yes, that is what I was planning on doing." Ibara could not see very well with the blindfold on, and being in darkness, so, he decided to take off his blindfold. He reached up behind his head and untied the knot that held the cloth in place. He let the cloth drop to the ground, revealing his eyes, that shone the color of blood even in the dim light. "Sorry. I should have warned you first." Ibara looked away from Ya'sudrya. His eyes seemed to scare everybody away from him. Only his family stayed with him, and he wondered if that was just because he was their blood. He knew that Kinami wouldn't abandon him, but she was the only one that he truely trusted.

(Ummm.... I said next in line for the students. I know I probably won't catch up to him before you or some of the other genin's. Hehehheheh. And I don't write bibles...ummm...ok, maybe I do. Its all a matter of finding a subject you can do something on. Like for your medical jutsus, maybe you can find a medical book and take notes from it and type it up. That's what i'm doing for roy's strategy training. I'm reading The Art of War (for fun irl. I always wanted to read it) and just putting up some nots I take on it and found some other notes online. So yea. Hheheheh)
