"Fu- Mirage nothin'! I know what I ********' saw!" She stabbed a couple more larva down into their own sandy grave before whipping her blades down to clear them of the guts. "I'd love to see what that was if these tiny jelly babies would just. Leave. Us. Alone!" Her word was punctuated with a slash to the swarming insects at their feet. And she knew that wouldn't be the end of them. ◺One task at a time! ONE AT A TIME!◿'Stuff it, Li!' This was not the time for him to crawl into his shell and get nervous. "Now that'd be a trophy to bring back, yeah?" kuumeii no, pls, forgive my child. she just wants them sweet, sweet boss drops~ ♥

Reaching down for a centipede her cry was both denial and anger in the same sound as it exploded in front of her. Dinah had not quite realized that they were in any danger; she'd chalked it up to people overreacting to bugs who were mostly harmless. Except she'd somewhat understood that they were dangerous and...self-preservation was not a Chambers strong suit. That lack of preservation was again punished when little grubs flung themselves upon both Dinah and her twin, stinging and nibbling, causing her to cry out again. But not for herself. "ALI!" Suddenly Feyre was in her hands, whirling through the air, trying to do some damage. Any damage! HP: 40/40 Charge: 0/3 Mob HP: 7/10 DMG: 3

Well, that had worked! And he hadn't even embarrassed himself by accidentally cutting himself or anything. Emboldened now that he'd managed a hit, Fredrick kept lashing out at the centipede with his whip. Unfortunately one good hit did not make him a master of any kind. It cracked out into empty air, and the centipede lunged at him again, making him lose the ground he'd been gaining.

As Artemis moved closer, Aiden blinked in surprise when he heard the crunch sound as his foot landed on something. He looked down at the carapace he had stepped on as the Trainee started to yell. "A carapace, nothing to worry from it. What it was shed from however..." He said as he gripped Souji in one hand and knelt down to study it more. He wasn't part of Death but maybe he could figure out just how old this was and if it might be anywhere near them. "Just looking around all of the centipedes looks small then this right?" He asked, glancing up at the freaked out Trainee then back again. Aiden HP: 20/50 Damage done: n/a Charge: 3/3

Gale Gentry ( Y3 Death Hunter Specialist )
He winced a little, unintentionally. "There are worse things than two foot centipedes, yes," said Gale, a flicker of - something - passing across his face. "Try centipedes that are about the size of a house, and you'll have the normality here in the Sahara."
He could not have wanted to be anywhere less. Gale reached out for Stormy and drew her nearer as she stepped towards him, momentarily pressing his face into her hair and just breathing before he let go again, resuming his usual, collected self.
Or as collected as he could be.
"This is Stormy," he said, with a nod to her. "Stormy, this is Kara, she's a new Death Trainee. Stormy's a full Mist Hunter," he added. "She's well versed in all of this. As for how we got sent here, well..."
There was no answer to that except Caelius. Gale rubbed at his face.
"Either way, we have to figure out how to get back, now."

They were even cuter like this, real cute, and Alice was already trying to scoop one up to keep it in her pocket by the time the arthropods made a big show of aggression. They stung enough for her to hiss through her teeth, but the pain wasn't bad enough for her to feel like they were killing her; she'd had worse, tied somewhere between the time she'd climbed up to pluck a hornet nest off of a tree like fruit or the time she inadvertently stepped in a nest of yellowjackets. Probably more akin to the former, considering the whole reason they were in this situation. Pulling on the handle of her axe brought it down into the sand like a carving knife on a cutting board, slicing clean through several of the larvae and the middle of a centipede hidden under the sand. A careful brush of her arm against the handle's sharp edge scraped the ones that remained away. "Di! You get 'em off of you?" She was squinting against the sunlight to try to get a good look, and could swear she was seeing the little centipedes like ghosts. The sand were oddly still around her for a while. Just silence.
And then, something massive, dark, stretched out, out of the sand, reading to its full height, all legs squirming and shifting. It was taller than she was.
It snapped at her, oddly oversized mandibles hungry. OOC MINI BOSS: HP 100/100 CENTIPEDE TAG Yes, this thing has 100 HP. Yes anyone can help try to take it down, but they take -5 auto damage a hit and they are hit with POISON, causing their vision to blur and their movements to slow down. Yes, you can also try to escape it. Tag another user. Congrats, the mini boss is now chasing them instead (the first person you tag, just post the boss's remaining HP left, and it's auto damage stats). If that person tags another person, congrats, now it is chasing that person. Beejoux Focused on your character right now

There. That was the last of them. Finally, the sand around him had gone still, despite the constant din of combat surrounding him.

Alarmed and a little annoyed that the centipede had dodged his attack, Fredrick kept at it. It was just one bug, how hard could it be to kill? He flinched away in brief pain after the final blow, but...well, that had been the final blow! He laughed triumphantly, then turned to see how everyone else was doing and if he could help.
Suddenly his one little centipede kill didn't seem like such a victory.

"THAT. IS. MY. SISTER!"Lunaire howled in rage at the giant beast before sprinting across the sands Hung Lei raised up behind her head as she tried to smash the chakram into the giant bug that was chasing her sibling. She dug one of the spiked tips of the round weapon with a triumphant HAH! But even as she cut it the creature turned its attention to spit poison on her. The sticky burning substance blurred her vision and caused her to stumble backwards, "If anyone is going to beat my sister its me you giant multi legged abomination!" Before October could even blink, he was sinking, sinking so quickly and so deeply he didn't even have a chance to call for help. It was just sand and he was suffocating, he couldn't breathe, it was just sand and sand and sand and then choking, stifling Fear, dark and cold and unyielding.
- He needed to get out. He needed to get out right now. With an unknown strength, he squirmed, he writhed, every part of him heaved himself bodily out of the sand and then he was free.
Free to- ???
???
???
Free to eat. Kuropeco Congrats, October is now a centipede roughly the height of however tall he is. Yes, actually a centipede. He can't remember anything, and acts exactly like one of the mobs, just attacking out of voracious hunger. He can attack anyone, he does the same damage as his Hunter dice rolls.
Instead of charged attacks, he can choose to sting a player after 3 attacks. If he does, they become paralyzed for 3 turns, and if nobody rescues them in those 3 turns by quoting that player and ICLY dragging them out, will also get dragged into the sand and turned into a centipede mob with the same effects. Unless he/ any of them is defeated, at his remaining HP down to 5 (cannot go below 0), he will remain stuck in centipede form.

What answered her call, much to Soleil's dawning horror, was not her twin. She'd apparently managed to flag the attention of something considerably worse than the smaller more manageable things that had just been attacking her ankles. This one, as he broke through the sand at her feet to rise up and up until it was towering over her already tall frame, was considerably larger, more vicious, and utterly horrifying. Pale eyes widened as she looked up at it, the color draining from tanned features, and for just a moment she didn't know what to do. It was too real, too scary, and not at all what she'd signed up for. Then it was chittering at her, mandibles snapping rapidly as he bent it's squirming bulk down to her, and she shrieked as she brought her scythe around in a desperate, wild arch at the beasts midsection. It hissed viciously at her, snapping at her arm with force enough to go past her shield, breaking the skin and making her bleed. Then it was rearing back, snapping and chattering as soemthing hit it from behind, and Soleil gasped as she saw the thing spitting venom at her sister. "Luna, run!" What was she doing?!HP: 15 (poisoned) DMG: - CHG: 3/3 MINI BOSS:93/100

She'd taken too long to notice anything odd. Sweat was normal out here, and so was itchy and irritating sand. But the itch had grown and so had her feeling worse - but Sherry blamed it on the shock and adrenaline and sun. Having been the one giving out gift bags she didn't even have a water bottle. It didn't matter how bad she was feeling anyway. She had other things to worry about: Mark, Lucky, that kid she'd seen in Orientation but not since, this new kid Chase - to many other people to worry about. She'd be fine, but only after they all were. Another look was cast in Chase's direction, Sherry needing to confirm he was okay. He was still there, staying close like she'd said soon enough they'd be safer -- The bug burst through the his chest in a spray of blood and bone. Sherry had a mental flash of Myron dissolving into bugs, of a Moon Assistant being a bug puppet - Not again. The bug wriggled and chittered, lifting it's head, waving it's little legs. Sherry screamed and stepped back, stumbling in the sand. "No!" What was left of Chase was still there - a bloody puppet of famine. It was impossible, he'd been fine, he'd been well - but now he wasn't and - if only she'd not hesitated to help him to begin with. Her fault he was this. "No, no." It was too late. Too late. But she was going to kill the bug that had killed the poor trainee. It wasn't going to use him as a puppet. He deserved better than that. "You can't keep him." Armagnac came around from side, straight at the centipede's head. Sherry was still shaking in shock (and bug bite), and she only grazed the thing. Dammit. "How do you know??" She shouted back at him, "You watchin me or something? Ya, I bet you are. Creepin on me like a little pervert." She leered, and laughed as he began to stalk away towards the tents, a vicious laugh that only held a hint of amusement in it. She wasn't letting him get away that easily (though to be fair, he was going in the exact direction she had already been planning to go), and she followed close behind, jogging so as to get to the tents, and her brother faster. Nash's shouting earned him the bird. He could deal with his centipedes alone, if he was going to be like that. [ Tents ] Once she arrived at the tents, completely oblivious to the newly amped up levels of mayhem going on all around, she slowed to a halt when she saw what was going on inside. "Uhhhhh, Tobin? What the ******** did you do now?" Of course, this was somehow his fault.

"I have been through a portal, but not like that," Lin said. She adjusted her scarf around her nose and mouth and started toward the tents. "Water might help," she agreed. Her eyes skimmed across a hunched figure as she moved, then back as she realized that the girl didn't appear to be moving, in the middle of the remnants of several centipedes. That wasn't right. Maybe she was having some kind of reaction. "I'm going to check on her," Lin said, and altered her course to head over and touch the girl's shoulder. "Are you injured?" she asked.
