Koorie nodded and glanced down at Miu, who had slunk quickly and quietly to press herself against her trainer's leg. Chances were, the little Vulpix wasn't going to forgive her anytime soon for shoving her into an area so heavily populated with people. "C'mon, lets get you something to eat...."

Miu kept close to her trainer's heels, being careful not to trip her trainer, but certainly not lagging behind enough so that other humans could get to her. It wasn't that she was afraid of humans, she just disliked most of them. Her ears twitched at the sound of a yip, and she paused a moment to look around before dashing to catch up to Koorie as a gap formed between them.

Koorie took a rather full bowl of soup and brought it back to the fire, sitting a bit of distance from the other trainers but close enough so that she could speak to them without yelling. Placing the bowl next to her, her Vulpix was instantly beside her. Cautiously the pokemon sniffed at the soup, trying to decide if it was going to be safe or not.

Heal nods and laughs. "Yeah, thought Arthmael always wraps his tails around me when he is near, he growls at me whenever I try to touch them. Then again, I have only had him for a couple of months now..." He petted Tripod's head gently. "Arthie is a bit moody.."

@Kira
Arthmael kept watch on the little vulpix, pondering following for a few moments. He hadn't met many vulpixes in this region, well, a couple of ninetails, but that was just about it. Looking over to his trainer, he was conversing with the good manner girl at the moment, and he had the cowardly luxio out. Hmm...Alright, he suppose he could afford leaving him for two seconds. The shiny ninetails moved after Koorie and her vulpix, letting out another soft yip to gain the small fox pokemon's attention.

"OK, I'll leave that one alone." Shikari definitely didn't want to upset anyone. She wasn't so sure about the idea of a curse, but if they didn't like it...well then, she wouldn't do it. "Umm..." She found herself in possession of an empty bowl she had no clue what to do with. "Where do you want me to put this?" She smiled awkwardly. She hoped Shina would simply take it from her, since she wouldn't be able to tell where her friend was pointing otherwise.

Shina finished her own bowl, and heard Shikari asking what to do with her bowl. Standing, Shina collected Shikari's bowl and any that others gave her. She dumped them all in a tub near the fire, and allowed one of the other trainers to shoo her away with promises that they would take care of the dishes. Covering a yawn, she looked around. Rasha was grazing off to the side, Tenka had disappeared with Maya, Annabell was doing her best to never be more than three feet from Shina at all times.

The sky was clear, but the air was a bit cold, so Shina decided to go through the effort of pitching her tent that night. Then Shina paused. "Shikari, do you have your own tent? If not, I can share mine with you," she offered. She had a few extra tents as well, but at least for the first night, thought it might be better for the blind girl to have a tent-mate to help her if she needed it.

"I don't, but....I prefer to sleep outside. With the wind on my face," came the dreamy-drowsy reply. She was practically falling asleep where she sat. Warm food and a long day had worn her out. "Whoo.....goodnight...."

"Alright. Here, why don't you bed down over here?" Shina helped the other girl up, and led her to a sheltered spot by a tree. Glancing around, Shina reconsidered her earlier decision to put up her tent, and just dug out her heavier sleeping bag. She set it up next to Shikari, and settled in. Annabell paced on top of Shina for a minute, seeming a bit agitated. After a moment, Shina lifted the edge of the sleeping bag. Annabell quickly slipped in and settled against Shina's tummy, acting like a furry hot water bottle. It wasn't too terribly late for a city person, but out here without electric lights night came fast, and all of them had been up since dawn. Shina's eyes slipped shut.

((Hey all, it is now full dark. Eienna is planning to catch her pokemon now, so we aren't going to timeskip to morning quite yet.))

Shikari barely made it into her bag with a mumbled 'thank you' before drifting off to sleep.

However, her rest was shortlived. A few hours later, she awakened to the sound of angry yelling. She sat up. Someone yelling at a....he called it a...Bullitsel? What the heck was that? The young-sounding male voice was obviously VERY mad at it, too. She rubbed her eyes. Something about the tone wasn't right. As she got up to investigate, forgetting her new cane entirely, what she heard made it clear that he did not have a very high opinion of the whatever-it-was anymore.
She carefully drew closer, pausing very close to the sounds. What she heard made her heart stop. The characteristic 'click' of a gun being readied. "STOP!!" Shikari screamed, bursting out of the brush and nearly falling on her face. "I'll buy it - the uh - the creature - don't shoot it!" Stumbling forward, she dug her hands into her pockets and pulled out the only money she had - a five-dollar bill. She prayed it would be enough. "Don't," she pleaded. The other "trainer" snatched the bill out of her outstretched hand...and released the pokemon from its ball. "Do as you will," he sneered. "She's useless." Shikari stood for a moment, trying to take in all that had just happened.
She dropped to her knees. OK, so if there's a pokemon like I think, where is it exactly? Approaching where she'd heard the ball-release sound, she felt around and brushed against something furry. And dirty. "There you are..." It did not respond, breathing only shallowly as she felt over its skinny body. The only sign that it was alive besides the rise and fall of its sides was that it kept discharging tiny zaps of electricity at Shikari's hands.
"Thousands of little sparkles," she said with a mixture of sadness and wonder. "I'll call you Chiyo, little one. For a thousand sparkles."

((OOC: I expect Shina would've woken up when Shikari screamed. She still needs the pokeball.)

Shina bolted upright at the commotion, quickly scrambling out of her bag and darting towards the sound. Anna boiled out of the bag after her, keeping up easily. Suddenly, Shina came upon a horrible scene. Shikari was kneeling next to a battered Blitzle, while a grungy looking male walked away. It was obvious that the man had been abusing the poor pokemon. Her eyes like chips of ice, Shina extended an arm, pointing at the man. "Anna, attack," she hissed in a cold voice.

Annabell was well fed, and before the commotion, had been warm, safe, and content. Apparently the departing human had been the cause of her new human's abrupt awakening and her own subsequent ousting from her happy warm full safe place. Anna also had orders to attack. She had absolutely no problems obeying those orders. She surged forward.

Shina ignored the shrieks and begging for mercy behind her, except for a brief admonishment of "no killing, Anna dear." The man didn't seem pleased with the needle teeth and razor claws attacking him. Perhaps he should have though about that before he abused his pokemon. She knelt next to Shikari. "Looks like you got yourself your first pokemon. We have some healers in the caravan. Would you like that pokeball now?"

"Yes, please." She was grateful for the assistance, and would have laughed at the guy except for the fact that she was absolutely preoccupied. She took the ball from Shina. "A new ball for a new start, Chiyo." She bumped it gently on the Blitzle, and as the ball enveloped it, she choked back a tear. "Poor thing," she whispered. "Let's get it help right now."

Shina stood, helping Shikari to her feet as well. "Anna, leave it," Shina said without looking at the man. "I suggest you get away from here. Immediately. There is an entire caravan of trainers just over there, and Anna will be the least of your worries if they find you here when we are done caring for the pokemon you hurt. You might want to try running." Dismissing the man from her mind as unworthy of further thought, she guided Shikari back to the campsite. "Any healers awake? We have a badly injured pokemon in need of care."

@ Trist

Miu had begun to lap up a small amount of the soup when she once again heard a soft yip. Lifting her head up and perking her ears, her bright blue eyes scanned the surrounding area. It didn't take much scanning for her to notice the shiny Ninetales there, the moonlight making his fur nearly glow.

Casting a glance at Koorie, who seemed to have fallen asleep while sitting straight up on the ground, the Vulpix got up and very carefully took a couple of steps towards the other fox pokemon.

@Nashi and Eianna

(i guess nows as good a time as any to drag Cha'Time in)

Cha'Time froze upon hearing a scream, he had reached the wooded area near their campsite a short while ago, he hadn't planned on showing himself as he wasnt sure if he'd be welcome. But it sounded like there was trouble.... He stood from his make-shift camp site and crept towards the edge of the trees. He was just in time to hear a woman call for a healer. He couldn't and wouldn't ignore a wounded Pokemon. He stepped out from the shelter of the trees and approached the pair " forgive me for intruding, but i am a healer maybe i can help?"

@kira

Arthmael lay down onthe soft grass to make himself less treating looking and tilted his head slightly, offering a warm smile as the vulpix came closer. Yipping his salutations, he wagged a couple of his tails. His ears twitched and he looked back towards where his human was, there was some commotion, but for the bits he could gather, it was long done with and under control, so he turned his attention back to Miu.

@The rest of you

Heal bolted up, having fallen asleep with his back resting against a tree. He gave a slightly shiver as he pulled his arms away from Tripod's warmth and went over to see what was going on. It seemed another Healer was taking care of things, but he decided to stay close, either to learn something new or offer help if necessary.

@DJ and Eienna:

"We have an injured blitzle, previous trainer was abusing it," Shina said. As they came into the better lit area near the fire, a few flecks of blood became visible on Anna's pale muzzle before she sat up and neatly groomed it away.

"Rasha, could you be a dear and come over here? More light would be good," Shina called to her ponyta. The flame-maned pokemon came over and flicked her fire higher.

"Shikari, if you could release her, we can get her treatment," Shina said gently.

Shikari nodded and pushed the button. Chiyo popped out in a flicker of light but still did not even look at her rescuers. "It didn't seem horribly injured when I felt it over," Shikari told the healer, "but it still won't respond. I've had experience with catatonia before....maybe that's what it...what's keeping it from seeming to notice anyone."
