There was a toilet. Calder stopped, looking at it a moment in confusion. So far there was a table and vase and now a toilet. Did someone live here? Was this the voice's place? If it required a toilet, it was alive.

Good. Calder wanted to kill it.

He moved to it and wondered if there was water inside. He was so thirsty, and felt so low, that he wasn't too above it. Then again, he didn't think he could handle the voice taunting him for it, and so he just sat down and rubbed his eyes, long hair spilling about him, now unruly and curling about at the ends. After a short breather, he got back up and started to move again.

Despite not really looking where he was going, he did take note that after the table and the toilet, he was moving to new places. He had to be getting close to somewhere.

'Or maybe you're just going deeper into this mess and farther from your friends?'

He didn't like that thought.

If it didn't occur to him already, Calder knew he was lost. Unlike the woods, there were no scents, no land markings, no streams of slopes to tell him where he was or hadn't been. He swore he saw that mirror 4 times already, but how was he to know.

Reaching out, he look his bloody hand and made a smiley face. He gave a pathetic chuckle before he went quiet. Well, at least that was a marker for him. He moved on.

It seemed the marker wasn't necessary as he noticed that he hadn't passed it yet, or the table, or the toilet. He hadn't passed anything and he began to worry if he was doing worse or better. There was no sign, and he weakly called out to anyone. "...hello...?"

'They won't answer you even if they heard you. It's just like those fauns hiding in the woods. Remember how they played with you? Running and running and laughing as you tried to catch up.'

"They're not like that." He whispered back, moving along.

The laughing started up at his weak rebuttal, and soon the laughs twisted, a chorus of several voices. Christof.....Freya....Herryk...Ba -

He covered his ears. "They wouldn't!"

Calder stopped when he saw a room and then a couch. The laughing was dying away and it grew quiet again. Moving over, he stared at the rigid couch and gave a sick little smile. "If you were here, you'd probably be happy to see this."

'Happier to see the couch than you.'

He sat down, and slowly leaned to one side to rest against the hard glass, letting what lingering tears he could muster drip down his white lashes and over the bridge of his nose to collect on the reflective glass. He missed his couch, and felt he would never be allowed to come over and sit on it. Rest on it. Cuddle on it.

'Maybe you can call dibs on it when they clean out his room for another student. '

The voice chuckled again and Calder curled in. "He's not dead. He's not dead. he's not dead."

'If not dead, then probably in a lot of pain. I heard torture is all the rage this season.'

Calder stood up, climbing on the couch. "I won't let them. Even if he hates me. Even if he doesn't want to see me again..." And if that happened....maybe it was best he did go home. "...I'd rather I find him, keep him alive and safe, then if he likes me or not." Despite saying it, it hurt to imagine.

Rising up, he looked above the walls. He wasn't going to play these stupid games. He wanted out now!

His eyes flickered over to a door, and he felt his heart lift a fraction from the abyss it was in. With that, he turned to stick his tongue out at the direction of where he felt the voice was and stumbled off slowly to the exit.

Calder moved to the exit and saw that everyone else was there. He was both happy and sad to see them. He wasn't alone, but he was the last one to arrive. Would they have...really gone without him? Why had they moved and left him behind? Why did he always feel left behind?

'Christof doesn't' wait for you because he's not your Master. He already knows you're worthless. Once he find Barth, they won't need you. Jack. They don't need you now!'

He held his hand. His hair was undone from his tie, long and flowing around his shoulders, his sweater was torn in places, and it looked like his hand had taken a beating and several Hello Unicorns bandaids he had used had already soaked thought and peeled off. "...hey." He managed, forcing a smile. His face was still wet from crying.

At the sight of Calder stumbling out of the maze, the Igor's anxious expression to Freya's... clearly bothered freak out lifted immediately as he fumbled towards the kelpie. His hands flew in frantic sign-language, "So-glad-safe! Freya-gone-mad-I-think! Stupid-maze. Did-not-like. Want-to-go. Not-sure-what-to-do! Shouting!" He had his own series of reflective shards jammed into his own fist, but seemed a lot less bothered about them then the more living Kelpie.

Calder wiped his eyes to be able to see Christof's frantic signing and slowly absorbed the fragmented sentences. He was glad to see him.

'What a lie! He just was sick and tired of waiting on you. Just holding everyone up again.'

"I'm...happy to see you too."

He looked to the first years. If they got hurt, then everyone else would hate him for being the second year that was supposed to watch over them.

"We should.....go through that door. Get out of here." His voice was barely above a whisper as he looked to them.

Herryk had been waiting outside the last room (in a room that looked similar to the others, much to Herryk's consternation) for the rest of his group. He was shocked, to say the least, to see both Christof and Freya burst into his current room at the same time. They both looked distraught and distressed, Freya shouting and Christof frantic. Hardly a few moments passed before Calder burst into the room as well, but Herryk was already moving to Freya.

Wrapping his arms around her, Herryk buried his face in the crook of her neck. One hand slid up the back of her neck to bury deep into her hair while the other clutched her close.

"Everyone made it out okay," he breathed, though the voice that had taunted him throughout the mirror maze still whispered in the back of his mind. No, he couldn't break down again. Not now. They were all together once more. He had to keep remembering that.

Perhaps he couldn't break down, but Freya certainly could. She ripped herself out of Herryk's arms, turning to look up at him with eyes that weren't really looking at him. They were wild, and unseeing.

"NO!" She screamed, stamping her foot on the ground and flailing in anger.

"I WAITED. I WAITED AND YOU DIDN'T COME! YOU CAN'T ASK ME FOR FORGIVENESS NOW! I'M NOT COMING HOME WITH YOU! I'M NOT!"

She backed away, looking as though she was ready to bolt back into the mirror maze any minute.

Christof flinched as the Valkyrie suddenly lunged out of the large undead's grasp, a tight whine in his throat as an arm lashed out to grab her by the wrist. If a scythe was about to be swung, at least he could safety pin himself back together again. The others might not be so lucky.

Despite the squirming, he used his two other free hands to sign frantically at Calder, "Like-the-fog. Effected-her-head! Needs-to-calm-down!"

There wouldn't be time to translate. No hitting no hitting no hitting but... but she needed to snap out of it-

Bracing himself, the hunchback suddenly delivered a sharp smack to Freya's face- with his tiniest hand. It wasn't filled with anger, just a frantic need for her to *come back to reality*.
PostPosted: Sun Oct 23, 2011 2:23 pm

"Herryk couldn't find Freya! He looked! And when he did find Freya, she was torn away from him!" He held his arms out, silently willing her to come back. He hadn't quite figured out that she hadn't been speaking to him, merely AT him. Maybe it was his guilty conscience. He felt like a failure still -- both here and back during the recent battle with the false reapers.

He was a failure.

"Min sjel, halvparten av meg," Herryk whispered frantically. The words came easily in the foreign tongue -- shaken free from the obscuring mist of darkest black and hazy memories, given life by the terror that coursed through his massive body. He had to make her understand. He had to.

And then Christof slapped her.

Those outstretched arms drew back, broad hands clenching into fists. He knew that Christof hadn't slapped Freya out of malice, but seeing that hand strike Freya's cheek was a little too jolting. Herryk wasn't sure how to react. Emotionally he was still too weak and shattered to feel anything but hopelessness.

Using his own body as a rather large buffer, Herryk faced Christof and narrowed his eyes at the Igor. "Christof will not slap Freya again," he half-growled.

Despite Herryk's reaction, Christof's slap was exactly what Freya needed. Her eyes focused and she stared at the back in her face, before reaching out to touch it with gentle fingertips.

"Did we make it?" Freya whispered, peaking (:D) her head around Herryk's massive body to stare at Christof with a wide, frightened gaze. "Are we out of there?"
PostPosted: Sun Oct 23, 2011 2:48 pm

Christof merely snarled back up at the taller boil, his own fists clenched in a "and what are you going to do about it?" fashion- until he heard Freya's voice drift out from behind him, and sagged a bit with relief.

"Was-terrible. But-an-illusion. Dealt-with-that-on-that-island," Christof signed to Calder for him to explain. "Need-to-keep-a-grip-on-what's-important. Complete-task-at-hand."

Herryk's face twisted with rage as he went toe-to-toe with Christof. He was not in the mood for a face-off (lol) with the Igor but Herryk's temper was rising fast. That same temper melted instantly at Freya's touch. Herryk slowly turned to face her, thankful to see that the fury and rage was gone. Replaced by fright, yes, but Herryk could handle that.

"We're out," he nodded. He didn't make a move to draw her into an embrace for fear that it might set her off, but his gaze was warm and a hint of a smile toyed with his lips.
