__Success! Selina leaped off the building with glee as the two succeeded in capturing the criminals. First day on the job and the two were already amazing. This was the start of something good. As Selina slugged the man over her shoulder, she kind of wobbled as he carried him behind Ada. This guy was really heavy, but Selina would not waiver. For justice!
Hachiro arrived at the village plaza. Looking about he would take note of a tavern in its furthest reaches. The " Musky Mug " Tavern had never had an outstanding review, nor looked the part. But they would enter the tavern none the less. Hachiro would move cautiously through the bar like setting. Who was he kidding. This was a bar. As he approached the counter he would turn back to Tsukiko who was sure not to be far behind. As he awaited them to take a seat, the barkeep spoke up. "Not sure I ever did see you here before. What's yer poison boy-o" His gruff voice seemed to fit the part, almost catching Hachiro off guard. He pointed his finger to a dark amber bottle. " Two shots of rum for myself, one for the girl." he requested with confidence. The bar tender seemed happy to oblige. There was no use in pushing the envelope on information until suspicious has been diverted away from them. Time to blend in.
Hachiro sat with Tsukiko for several minutes in silence, having thrown back his inital two shots of rum and seemed to be working on...something else entirely. His stoic, hardened expression was now slightly flustered with a pink glow, his ears hot red. His steel like eyes danced around the room seemingly at random but would keep finding their way back to Tsukiko and then in a not so sly act of being caught, dart back to the other side of the room. Every time his gaze was caught, he seemed to get more flustered, taking another drink.
Awkwardly as ever, he spoke. This time intoxicated for the first time. " You...er...look....really nice." He sputtered out, glaring at his glass as he swirled it around in a clockwise motion while supporting his elbow on the bar before them. When he was dodging eye contact, he had...unwittingly been observing the woman he had been working with since his thoughts became less focused on the mission and fuzzy. Both intoxication and such personal thoughts were completely unknown to him. While he was here on a mission, his immediate thought of capturing the criminal were put on the back burner...for now. When the opportunity arose, he would act as always.

Tsukiko waited for Hachiro's observation of the bar, but he didn't speak on it. She hadn't been around any establishment like this, preferring to stick with parks or in the actual nature of Kumogakure. She was an outdoorsy type, considering her affinity for animals. She didn't entirely look forward to being around a bunch of inebriated adults, but... she definitely wanted to take down some baddies!
She sat beside Hachiro inside, Chi sitting outside of the bar, eyes and ears focused on the building so she could get a piece of the action if she heard trouble. Tsukiko knew just about nothing about alcohol, so she was glad Hachiro ordered for her. She guessed they were really going to do this... get drunk and blend in... she figured she wouldn't be able to fake inebriation well anyways, since she'd never had a sip of the stuff beforehand. She tried not to over-think it and just took down the shot of rum.
She looked around the bar to take in details on all the other customers. It wouldn't look terribly suspicious on her, considering she looked rather bright eyed and bushy tailed; most would easily assume this was her first drink (they'd be right) and shrug off her eagerness to some extent.
But slowly she became aware of the alcohol's affect on her partner. She hadn't noticed any changes in herself, but her partner grew flush and his eyes kept landing on her. Each time he looked away, she took the opportunity to check herself out and make sure she hadn't spilled something on herself. Maybe she was clumsier than she'd previously given herself credit for.
She opened her mouth to ask if he was okay when he complimented her. Her brow furrowed as her muddled mind processed the information slower than usual; for her, that was anyone else's average speed. Instead of feeling flattered, it engaged some underused area of her brain reserved for wisdom. "Looks are such an odd concept. Like, appearance doesn't mean anything in the end; we'll all be bodies in a grave. It's just a disguise of our heart and our soul, y'know. Only thing you can trust are the eyes... They're the window; you can always look through them to find the truth." She gestured to her own eyes, widening her gaze as if that would make the 'window' big enough to see her whole soul. She tried to look at Hachiro's but they were still moving around a bit, and every time she looked at him her attention was drawn to the warming tone of his skin. "And souls are kinda weird too, y'know, 'cuz they're just like... there, but also, not there? And it..."
Her gaze fell on a gentleman across the room. There was a scar on his bottom lip, which her eyes focused on as she followed his trek from some secret back room to the bar beside Hachiro and her. He ordered an old fashioned (whatever the hell that was) and looked at her in a sizing-up manner that was probably intended to be flirtatious.
Now where had she seen that scar? It looked so familiar, so fresh in her mind...

As he made his gesture, he was only mildly aware of what he had just said and the weight of it. ' Did I just...did I just say...? Oh s**t ' his thoughts blurred. He recognized that she was feeling the effects as well. When he had confessed his attraction, she retorted with a much more....logical approach than could be expected. She pondered the value of looks, souls....then she gazed into his eyes, or attempted to at first before Hachiro's own eyes would lock hers. Her eyes seemed to catch light in a way he did not know possible. His blush grew, he wanted to look away but found that he couldn't. His heart raced as his mind seemed to go blank. His adrenaline roared as his fight or flight response was activated. He wasn't sure what the feeling was, drunk or not. Nor was he sure how to deal with it.
As if to save him from the tension, he took note of the girl's shift in attention. He shifted slightly to take note of the action going on behind him. The man with the scar would also catch his own attention. " He....He's the guy we're here for...I can smell it." He murmured. Not sure how he could possible smell it. He stood as the world started to spin around him. He moved, step by step towards the man as he would notice his stare fixated on Tsukiko. " Excuse me. SIR" He slurred. His eyes narrowed as he placed his hand on the scarred mans hand. " We're going to discuss two things." He said in a hushed tone, as his grip over the man's hand tightened with a fierce strength. As the man grunted. Hachiro's hand slid from the man's own and revealed a kunai knife at his gullet. " One, you're connection to Black Water..." his kunai dug deeper, piercing the man's attire and drawing just a drop of blood. " Two....what kinda looks are you giving that pretty girl over there?!" His voice was not quite as low as he would have hoped on his second question. His blood lust flashed in his eyes briefly before he looked back over to Tsukiko with a coy smile and his eyes turned to their usual stoic gaze.
The man grunted through the pain as he spoke " Yerr....er..one of them...officers, Damn PIG" he started as the knife dug deeper. " I'm not the one grunting....swine." Hachiro retorted, urging him to speak. "Aiight Aiight. I run their traffikin' bit"
Hachiro raised a brow. "Trafficking?" His knife pulled back, allowing him to talk freely. " Slaves and the like, exported outta town." Hachiro knew that his partner might have been close enough to hear it, he glanced back for her thoughts. He knew they'd need to take the man back to the precinct to properly investigate his story soon though.

As always, Hachiro was quick on the action. He had the man apprehended and threatened in a blink of an eye, already questioning the suspect by the time Tsukiko was truly paying attention to the threat level of the target. She worried over her partner's kunai placement - hopefully he wouldn't be too brutal with the gangster. Luckily, he spilled his guts quickly.
It looked like the black water gang wasn't as high in loyalty as they were in goons. Trafficking would be hindered for at least a day while they brought this guy in, and that was nothing if not a win. "We'll get better details outta him at the station. He better be prayin' we give him a plea deal, huh?" When she was positive the goon wasn't looking at her, she winked at her partner, playing along with their good cop, bad cop routine.
Though really, with such a crime as human trafficking, it would be a miracle if the chief didn't throw the book at him himself. She nodded at the bartender, who dutifully turned around, wiping glasses down and purposefully not defending the known criminal. It was the smartest move to keep his business in tact. In the meanwhile, she opened the door for Hachiro so he could easily escort the goon outside; no one else in the bar seemed brave enough to defend him, so he must not have a lot of sway in the gang's hierarchy.
"Sorry, Chi. No action today, either." The cheetah growled lowly, and eyed the gangster's ankles with a wanton gaze. Tsukiko just rolled her eyes and carried on her chipper - if not wobbly - way to the KPD.
[Enter] The call had gone out for the village ninja to assemble in the central village plaza. The reason was a mystery, but an order was an order. Shion, on her way back from the kage's office, happened to be in the area already when the call went out. In a matter of minutes, she was at the assembly point. It was pretty empty, though that was to be expected so soon after being called out. It seemed like it would be a while before anything started off, so no use in just standing around. Shion made her way to a nearby bench and took a load off, deciding to people watch amd let her mind wander. She began to think about what the big announcement could possibly be. Kumo didn't seem to be in a big upswing... if anything, it seemed to be pretty stagnant. Maybe this had somethimg to do with the UHV. Shion didnt really pay attention to the ongoings of the rest of the world and she didnt really have a head for politics... was war a possibility so soon? Aside from the Edaishima kerfuffle, the UHV didnt seem like that big of a deal... hm... maybe it was better not to think about it after all...

Arriving in the plaza, she soon found Kaneo and simply stood close behind him while waiting for the actual announcement to begin. "Picked up another redhead Kane-kun~" she said casually. Of course what she meant was that they now had a fourth member of the squad. As far as Mizuki went she was also now decked out in a chuunin's vest which had the unfortunate side effect of hiding her low cut pants.
Okay, fine. Unki's intent to head to the academy was derailed with a mandatory detour to the plaza. In the vicinity, some spot was declared her own for the time being until the waiting was answered.

Selina moved to the village plaza. She was still nervous. Flashbacks of what she saw on the outside flooded her mind. Despite this, however, she moved with purpose. Her eyes were filled with determination. She was not going to give up. Ada, her magical girl in training, was outside of the village walls in need. She was not dead, Selina could feel that. The girl was ready to do what she needed to protect those that mattered to her. It was for this reason she stood and readied herself for returning to the depths of hell. She awaited others to show.
Tsukiko and Chi walked leisurely to the plaza. After their training session, they lacked the energy to feel anxious. Tsukiko was a bit hungry, having spent all of her time training instead of genuinely recovering, but she forgot about her mistake once she found Selina amongst the gathered Shinobi. She walked to the magical girl's side, smiling as Chi sat on the other side of her.

__ Kenshin arrived at the village plaza and immediately stood close to Selina and Tsukiko. He expected that he would have to travel back to Seizan with them as the KPD was the original group. He could only hope that the rest of his team was still safe. He stood with his fellow KPD members and anticipated that this announcement was about reinforcing Rio-Kyuri and Hirohiko in Seizan. Kosei now stood stalwartly at attention, awaiting the announcement.

Making his way into the plaza, it became instantly apparent to Shiro that this was not going to be easy or simple. The sheer number of civilians, shinobi and soldiers present made that point clear. Taking a deep breath he adjusted the Raikage hat and mounted the stairs towards the small platform. Reaching the center he took a deep breath and attempted to begin. Clearly the look on his face and the way he carried his body meant he was mentally exhausted by this. "This village, this.. society, is founded on the principles of; equality, freedom, choice, law and order. These are the traits which define us as a people and I see the embodiment of these traits in the men and women around you. We hold these ideals tight and protect them with the fiercest of hearts. Its that fierceness which has brought questions before me as to why I placed the village under martial law. I am going to answer that here and now."
Taking a deep breath he continued,"Our village faces a crisis,both literally and figuratively. A team under my orders from the KDP was deployed to investigate a missing persons case in the mountain village of Seizan. What they uncovered, has scarred them. Its entire population has been destroyed. Slaughtered by the UHV." Letting his words sink in among the wave of shock which filled the civilians he continued,"Two of the shinobi on that team are now trapped within that village by the UHV. I cannot tell you if they are alive or dead. Their names are Hachiro Hirohiko, and Ada Rio-Kyuri. Citizens of this village. Young shinobi who willingly placed their lives in danger to protect the cause and ideals they hold dear."
Pulling off his Raikage hat he continued,"Earlier today I spoke to the Daimyo and his council about staging a counter attack on their position to destroy them before they can threaten this village. His answer, is why I have summoned you."Pausing for a moment he continued,"His excellency has deemed that our war is unwinnable. That counter attacking is pointless. He has given me orders to station all military assets at my disposal around his place city and to leave you all to, in all likelihood the same fate Seizen suffered. To abandon the people I swore to protect on the threat of being branded a traitor and replaced."
Again he paused to let his words sink in and the weight they carried. Though when he spoke his tone and posture was much more..Shiro,"Of course I am not going to do that. What kind of leader abandons his men? What kind of Kage abandons his people? I am going to Seizan. I will bring my shinobi and my friends home. I will not abandon them and discard the trust they have in me. I will not sacrifice you all to buy a coward time to weasel his way out of a war. I will not order any of you. Not a single one. To remain and fight alongside me. If you brand me a traitor for refusing to accept the annihilation of the very way of life for my people, so be it. If you want to leave go, the gates are open and you will not be stopped nor molested nor hated."
Jumping off the platform he continued, every word dripped with the passion for which he believed in the words he was speaking. "But I will ask you to remember. That you remember the principles you fought for in the past. The sacrifices you made to ensure their survival. The loved ones you fought, bled and trained to protect." As he spoke his voice got louder to fill the square," That we CAN defeat the UHV. That we are the nation that has in the past, stood as one, defiant. That we will not accept the tyranny of the UHV. That their crimes against humanity will not go unpunished. That we, the village of Kumogakure, will not go quietly into the night. That we will not vanish without a fight. That the preservation of our way of life, our right to existence. Is the most righteous, most honorable, and sacred right we have as humans." Moving quickly back to the stage he vaulted onto it and quickly turned to face the crowd,"To those that remain. I ask simply, that you FIGHT. FIGHT for what you believe in, FIGHT for a cause worth fighting for." Facing certain shinobi in turn he continued,"Fight for hope." Selina. "Fight for your friends." Shion "Fight for justice," Kenshin. "Fight for family." Unki. "Fight for the revenge which burns in your hearts." Kaneo and Mizuki. "Fight for honor." Axel. Raising his fist high and defiant he finished simply,"Fight for Freedom!"
