Her ears perked up at this, this seemed like a good time (but she was impatient so of course it was a good time to her). She did the belly walk up to her Ada and tried to tie the end of the red twine around his wrist.

Earendil nearly twitched, but he managed to stay still and simply let Miyuki do what she wanted to do.
Whatever that was.

There was a sense of accomplishment when she managed to get it tied. Looking up at her ada carefully she shifted backwards towards her mother.
Lin, while her hearing might not have been as good as Earendil's could hear what was going on. Her daughter wasn't quite that quiet yet. She could feel something wrap around her wrist.
It took a lot of self control not to twitch and giggle.

Earendil had no idea what was going on, but it seemed as though Lin were now getting the same treatment. He just kept resting, pretending as if nothing had happened.

Now there was a slight hitch to Miyuki's plan, she didn't have anything to cut to thread. She stared at the ball in her hand trying to figure out what to do with the rest of it. It wasn't a big ball and she unraveled most of it but still.... Then she had a great idea.
She unraveled the rest of it and attempted to tie the end to her wrist.

It really was a hot day, and the though they were in the shade, Earendil could feel the heat working away at him. He was glad they would be spending the rest of the spring and part of the summer on the ocean. It would be much cooler there.
They lay there for about an hour and a half, until Triss and Dal came to wake everyone up.
Earendil hadn't slept, and while the guards were waking Shea and Mikhail he sat up and stretched.
"That was a good re-"
He broke off when he saw the string that was tied around his wrist. He had forgotten about that, gotten used to it.

Lin had managed to rest a bit, probably knowing the slight tugging she was feeling was from Miyuki and not Earendil. Though she had to admit she was now amused to see the Miyuki had tied herself to the string.
She was napping after being bored with the inactivity. Her one wrist had a red string around it which was attached to Lin, which was in turn attached to Earendil. Her Mummi and Ada were going to be together and she was going to always be with them.

Earendil stared at the string that was connecting all of them, then looked at Lin, then at Miyuki.
"Um ... Miyuki?" he murmured softly. "What is this?"
He was amused, but also confused.

Miyuki opened her eyes, yawned and smiled cutely up at her ada replying, "It's the red string!"
Lin chuckled and stared up at the tent ceiling wondering who she had to thank for planting that idea in her daughter's head.
"But why do you have it around your wrist?" she finally asked her daughter.
"So I'm always with Mummi and Ada."

"Aw, well that's sweet," Earendil smiled. "You know, we're going to be together for a very long time, so I don't think we need the string to keep us together."
He stood up and held one hand down to Lin to help her to her feet.
"How about you ride with me for a while, Miyuki?" he asked her. "Not for too long, don't want you to get sore, but for a while? It might be nice for you."

Lin wondered if she should tell Earendil where Miyuki got that idea from as she went over to untie Miyuki so she could untie herself.
Fortunately Miyuki was too distracted by the idea of riding a horse to be upset about that.
"I get to go on the horse?" she asked nearly bouncing with joy.

Earendil smiled. "Sure," he agreed. "But you have to sit still, for two reasons: first, so that you won't scare the horse, because it could throw you off, and second so that you don't get sore too fast."
She would probably only sit with him an hour or two, but he was sure she would like it.

That would be a long fall Miyuki decided as she nodded in agreement to those rules.
"Okay! I'll be really good! Really!"
Lin chuckled as she made her way over to Earendil and began until the thread around his wrist.
"Good way to introduce her to it."

Earendil chuckled, watching Lin as she untied the thread from his wrist. "I thought so. Easy does it, right? Best to avoid the blisters if possible. And it saves a long time of lessons."
Not that it really mattered, who knew how long it would be before they would even see another horse once they entered their ship?

"Or at least is a very good starting point for when we get back," Lin added.
With the thread finally off she began to wind it back into a ball.
"Either my father or my grandfather was responsible for this idea," she murmured more to herself.
