User ImageWell, he'd done what he could. At least he hadn't managed to confuse her. Which was a good thing. It would have been even harder to unteach her something he had said. Which would have been a pain to do. Still, if it was up to him to teach her about emotions and the like, then he would do so. Who better to learn from than someone who actually dealt with emotions? Besides, it meant he would have something to do every now and then. He'd look forward to it. Teaching Ranka what he could might be fun.

Seiji chuckled lightly at Ranka's comment. Even if she didn't know it, she could be funny sometimes. Sheryl seemed so bright, from the things he'd learned about her when they spoke in that morning. He wouldn't have guessed she might have difficulty explaining something. Well, that was fine with him, he'd set the task of teaching Ranka upon himself. On that note, where had Sheryl gone off to? She'd been gone for quite a while now. She had said she'd catch up afterward. What could she be up to? Seiji's smile faded away as he watched Ranka. "Is everything okay?"

User ImageRanka blinked when he suddenly chuckled. Something she had said was amusing? She wondered what it was, but she didn't end up inquiring considering what he ended up asking her.

Lowering her gaze, she took a deep breath and exhaled it, seeming to be her first equivalent to a sigh. "She is being punished by the Elders. Besides the seal reacting to her stepping over boundaries, they are also punishing her. I suspect she will need..." She paused, calculating in her head. "At least a day spent upon just healing herself in all aspects. Perhaps two." She answered him softly, raising her eye, her features neutral and thus inscrutable once more.

User ImageSeiji watched her carefully, taking note on the little things. She seemed to be becoming more and more human. Or rather, becoming used to her surroundings and the people about her. It wouldn't be an overnight change, but Seiji suspected that if she were here long enough than she might be less robotic with herself. More tone in her speech, and who knew, maybe even some facial expression.

Seiji kept quiet as she spoke, trying to wrap his head around the fact. Sheryl was being punished for simply using her abilities? A seal he could understand, but this seemed harsh in his eyes. If the seal was meant to limit the twins' ablities, than why punish her? The seal seemed to be doing it's job just fine, and so long as Sheryl and Ranka couldn't access their full abilities Seiji didn't see the problem. Wasn't punishing her sort of counter-productive?

"That's horrible..." Seiji said, his thoughts still swimming. "I don't understand though. Why punish her? If you two were sent to learn to interact with the humans than what's the problem? You're learning slowly, meeting new people. Sealing your abilities in understandable...but it just seems unnecessary to punish her." Seiji place his other hand upon Ranka's absent-mindedly in a movement of reassurance. It was barely a change, but it had been done in some manner to comfort her. Whether he realized it or not.

User ImageRanka held her gaze evenly upon him, hearing him out before she answered. Though, then suddenly both of his hands were on hers. Her cheeks didn't flush this time. Maybe in the slightest, she didn't know. "While she is here, she is not to step into my realm which is death. Besides resurrection, her powers are supposedly to be for healing. I am the one who is supposed to kill. Not her. Considering the state of emergency that killing those mermaids could have caused, that is something the Elder's do consider. And are more than likely punishing her for being so careless." She answered him, brushing her hair back from her eye with her free hand. Now she knew her cheeks flushed since she had briefly focused upon how warm her hand was.

User ImageIt was still hard for Seiji to understand. He understood the purpose of the seals. But then why even put them on if they were to only use them so far? If the seal didn't do it's job properly it seemed like the easier thing to do was strength the amount of power the seal kept away from them. Well, in the end it wasn't really his place to say. It was just how he saw the whole ordeal. What he said or thought wouldn't make a difference anyhow.

"Mm," Seiji replied a little confused on the whole matter. "Well, I guess it just seems like there's an easier way to do it all. At least to me, but if that's how they do it." Seiji let his mind trail off from that issue and turned his attention back to Ranka who was blushing again. He wondered why, he hadn't done anything had he? Or maybe it was something else, though upon glancing to their hands he noticed both of his were upon her one hand now. When had he done that? His instinct had been to pull away, but he didn't. The cold touch of her skin against his was still soothing. He enjoyed it.

User ImageRanka just shook her head a little bit, distracted once more from their hands and thus the blush faded for the most part except for the faintest of color in her cheeks. "The Elders.... don't always make the most logical decision. The seal prevents her from a whole plethora of her powers, but for her to use them to kill is a major problem. They want to double check to make sure she hasn't picked anything bad up or else they'll discard her. If possibly, they want to ensure she won't do it again. So, I suppose it's severe but meant to turn things for the better. I don't understand all of what they do." She said softly, her hand suddenly getting a tingling sensation from how warm it was.

Anyone else, their hand would have warmed up by now, but no... Her's remained as frigid as ever. Now what confused her, was some part of her felt a calmer feeling wash over her when he didn't pull away from both of his hands holding her. Would this be what they call, a relief? "Seiji, what exactly is feeling relieved? What does it entail?" She asked suddenly, or at least it would appear sudden, but she was curious.

User ImageSo that's how it was. Looking at it that way made it slightly more understandable. Making sure that someone in your order was still following rules and the like was always a good idea. But it still seemed a bit too much to Seiji. Punishing her to the extent of using a whole day or two to heal herself? He'd been scolded before but never anything to the extreme of being unable to do anything for a few days. It seemed far too extreme to him.

It seemed like Seiji was in his own little world with Ranka. Despite the chatter of the student body around them, he was perfectly comfortable just talking with her. Normally, he'd feel crowded in and anxious to get out, like he had earlier. When Ranka asked her question, he was happy to answer. It moved the topic onto a lighter tone.

"Uh. Well, I guess you could saying feeling relieved is like lifting a burden or worry." That was the best way Seiji could describe it. At least from his current thoughts. He was sure there might be an easier way to say it, but at the moment that was all he could think of. Maybe an example might help make more sense of it. "Oh. Earlier when we fought with those creatures. You might have noticed me shrug a little after they left. I was feeling relieved that we wouldn't have to fight anymore. At least for the time being. Feeling relieved isn't always about something of that nature though. It could be about something as simple as schoolwork, or a test for a class." That made it pretty clear, or so Seiji thought to himself.

User ImageWorry? Ranka almost asked what he meant but then he provided an example. Ah, that made more sense. She automatically applied it to certain situations and thus understood more. "I see... Thank you again Sei-" She suddenly stopped, looking up, snapping out of their own little word.

Turning her gaze in the direction of the fight outside, her brows knitted in the slightest as she tried to distinguish what was going on better. "Fight outside.... Headmaster, perpetrator, Elly girl Tristan mentioned. Two others I am not familiar with. Middle of fighting. Atlas not helping at the moment, just Elly and perpetrator. Possibly one of the others..." She murmured, her expression impassive once more. She gripped his hand a little tighter unconsciously, a little bit tenser considering the situation. Perhaps this was worry.

User ImageIt was one thing to have to try to an explain emotions, but it seemed like he had to find a decent example so as to teach Ranka the meaning behind an emotion. All things aside, he was enjoying teaching her so far. That much he was sure of. He just wasn't sure how much he might enjoy it when it started to get more complicated. Some emotions were simple to explain, others would be more difficult. Seiji assumed it would be a long ways away before Ranka started to ask about more complex emotions like being attracted to someone, or in the more extreme case, love. But if it came up, he'd find a way to deal with it then.

Seiji was listening to Ranka, though she quickly grabbed all of his attention when she cut off and started into something else. More trouble? So it seemed that they were wrong about who was attacking, and even for what reason. Not that it had really been figured out in the first place. If Atlas was there, than Seiji was assuming he would take care of things. Still, if he didn't know any better, Seiji would think Ranka was worried or afraid. "Well, we've been told to wait here....so far nothing has happened to the cafeteria. So it may be best that we wait here.." Seiji said aloud more to convince himself than Ranka.

It would be far too easy to try and play the hero. Rushing out into battle was not only foolish, but probably meant certain doom, or at least injury of some sort. If they were talking over something, it was probably best left to those involved. Seiji tensed a little, squeezing Ranka's hand slightly tighter. He was hoping whoever it was wouldn't come to the cafeteria. It seemed their business was with Atlas after all. Let them deal with it.Seiji thought to himself. He was finally back at the cafeteria where he'd been told to stay. If the students were to move he was sure an announcement would be made. "I'm sure we'll be safer here anyhow."

User Image (( sorry it took me a little while to post, I was having issues thinking of what to write. >.< ))

Ranka was concerned about the situation. She knew the Elders would not allow her to interfere. To them, creatures were expendable. They could always make more. But.... she felt... worried. Looking up to him from her steady gaze towards the lake, she nodded once. She had to obey what they were told to do. Even if she'd rather do otherwise. No, she couldn't play god of death here....

She blinked twice and looked down to their joined hands, feeling how he held her hand tighter. "The two teachers certainly seem capable. Tsuki Kobiyashi can just create an army of things if she so chose to. The three she has summoned are strong though. I don't know anything about the nurse." She murmured, thankfully not blushing, but she still felt happy. Or at least more content. Why had he gripped her hand tighter? Was he worried?

User ImageEven though he'd just arrived the day before, it was hard for Seiji to imagine that his coming to the school would have ended up in such a turn for events. The academy being attacked had definitely been the last thing on his mind. If anything, he was hoping to make more friends and keep himself from playing the fool. So far, that plan seemed to be working. After all, here he was with Ranka. Not really the most enjoyable terms but he had still managed to make some friends.

If the academy hadn't been attacked he was sure he'd be sitting in class right now, forcing himself to pay attention. But, as it were, this was not the case. Which was also fine. He had to admit, dealing with the invisible beasts earlier was kind of fun. Not that he had used up some Kei, he was also feeling a little better. In the end, he was still concerned that the cafeteria might be attacked. But if the staff was handling in, then he would have to trust them.

"That's good to hear" Seiji replied, his mind a little occupied. What could possibly be going on out there? Having all of this action going on not only made Seiji a little nervous, he was also kind of anxious. He wanted it to be over. If he wasn't allowed to help, he wanted it to end and have them just go on with the rest of their day. He let his eyes drift to Ranka, still feeling her cold hand between his own. "I'm sure they'll handle it. If Atlas is with them he'll deal with the situation. He won't let any harm come to the student body if he has his way."

User ImageRanka glanced up to him, herself drifting into thought. Would the Elder's allow her to raise a force or something of the sort. Her eyebrow twitched as she felt her seal burn a little, that would be a no then. "If they don't handle it then the-" She didn't get to finish her sentence as she tensed up, gently pulling her hand from his, feeling an odd sensation that wasn't pleasant as she did so. She stood ready for something, suddenly holding out her arms.

There was a light that flashed, Sheryl suddenly falling into her sisters arms. Ranka kneeled to the floor, gently resting her sister against a wall. She was in real bad shape. If it were possible, she seemed paler than usual, her breathing unsteady and shallow. Blood was dripping down the side of her face, stains hardening part of her clothes. Her side had an ugly gash in it as if someone tore out a good chunk of flesh. There was a hint of white amongst her clothes, possibly a visible rib. Some of her fingers were bending off in odd directions, the other looking severely burned. There was another stab through her shoulder, lacerations littering her legs. There were signs her other shoulder was dislocated. Her one leg was visibly broken, the bones possibly crushed. Sheryl's hair was disheveled, part of it crusty from blood.

Though it was slight, Ranka was visibly worried, crouching in front of her sister so as not to draw more attention to them. It just made the students near them want to move a bit further away, but they didn't matter. "By the Maker..." Popping the one shoulder back into place, she heard the groan come from her sister. "Shhhh meimei. Don't try to talk. Just rest." It was clear they may have done something else to Sheryl's throat for she sounded raspy as she took breaths and attempted to speak, her lips closing as she took her sisters advice and remained me quiet. "They better resolve things quickly. She needs to get away from this place. Now." There almost seemed to be a tone in her voice, a definite strain of insistence there. Almost as if she were to command things.

User ImageWhen Ranka had stopped mid-sentence, Seiji had begun to wonder if something outside might have happened. His thought was answered quickly when she rose and held her arms out, waiting. What was she doing, was something going on? Within the next moment, Sheryl seemed to appear and dropped into her sister's arms.

Seiji wasn't overly suprised to see the other twin. Though as his eyes took in the sight of her, he began to fill with something akin to anger, seeing the state she was in. Ranka hadn't been kidding when she had said Sherl would need a day or two just to mend her wounds. This looked like it would take months, not mere days. Could Sheryl really find it in herself to heal this in a day or two? It seemed impossible to him.

Seiji's thoughts were interrupted breifly by the murmurs and gasps of the students around them. He could already hear whispers amongst them. As Seiji rose to his own foot and moved toward the twins, he turned his gaze upon the students, wishing to silence them. A few quieted, but the mumbles and new rumors were already starting. Seiji kneeled next to the two, unable to find words at the moment.

This was what their Elders had done to Sheryl? It was inconceivable. Whether or not they had the power to create someone as power as either Ranka or Sheryl, they shouldn't have had the right to abuse such talents. Ranka didn't seem worried that Sheryl would pass, so he would have to trust that thought. But at the same time he could feel his frusteration and anger growing. All of this for her actions? It hardly seemed fair. "....If there's anything I can do.." Seiji managed to say, it was all her could do just to get the sentence out with his new thoughts rushing.
PostPosted: Sat Jun 05, 2010 7:11 pm

User ImageRanka turned her head slightly at the murmurs, her one eye narrowing a little. To see Seiji move, she heard them quiet down, her expression seeming to relax a little. "Thank you." She murmured softly, turning to look back at her sister. She ripped up the cape Sheryl was wearing, bandaging some of the wounds to ease the risk for blood loss. It would be difficult for her to die, she was the current embodiment of her powers. The Elder's still needed her alive. It was clear her subconscious was already using her abilities to heal the worse of her wounds, her side starting to retake the shape it was supposed to, instead of appearing as if it were torn away completely. But it was very, very slow progress.

Looking up to Seiji as he spoke, she was about to answer when she heard someone push through the crowd. It appeared the school nurse was going to come over to them. She didn't want that. "Keep an eye on her for me." Standing up, she stood in front of the two of them, meeting Eda as she came forward.

User ImageEda slowed as she saw the one twin standing there, bowing her head a little. She could see her sister sitting on the ground. "I'm Nurse Eda, can you tell me what happened? I should tend to her." She spoke, already able to tell that this girl in front of her didn't want her there. Too bad, if she wanted her sister better, she should let her take a look.

"I'm Ranka. No. I can't tell you what happened. She'll be fine, please allow her to rest. She's taking care of herself." She answered calmly, but she felt an odd sort of flame in her chest. She didn't know what the cause was, but she didn't want anyone going near Sheryl. Only Seiji could.

Grimacing a little, she could tell this was trouble. She found it odd, but she couldn't read the girls mind. The boys was clear as day even if she wasn't trying to read him. His thoughts were rather loud so she could hear them despite her barriers. "She can heal herself then. Even if that is the case, may I please take a look at her? It's my-"

An odd rumbling was heard, yet the ground didn't feel as if it were shaking. Voices without bodies started echoing around Ranka, her features hardening. "Absolutely not. All of you stay away from her." She hissed, a cold sweeping throughout the cafeteria, pained souls appearing. They flew around overhead, some appearing quite grotesque, some pleading towards the students. Others were clawing at students, though they did no damage.

User ImageSeiji's eyes couldn't believe what they were seeing. Despite having seen Sheryl mend her hand earlier on, this seemed so much worse. How could she have even survived such a terrible thing? Old Ones or not, this was beyond punishment. Just seeing the results of what the Elders had done to her seemed like more along the lines of torture. It seemed so cruel that they could get away with such things. If only Seiji had the ability to harness his Kei into a mending ability. What has his teacher said? A calm heart and will to live. His heart was anything but calm. Hopefully Sheryl would be alright, though he looking over her injuries it seemed unlikely. Even with some wounds beginning to heal themselves, it was difficult for Seiji to believe that they might eventually heal.

When Ranka rose to meet the nurse, his eyes watched to follow after her, though quickly returned to Sheryl. His ears didn't follow the conversation, but he could hear the two in the background, talking about Sheryl. Each second that ticked by felt like a minute. His eyes took in each wound, trying not to imagine what they could have done to inflict such an injury. Blood everywhere, she must be in so much pain. If only there was something he could do to help ease her burden. How could her body stand such a thing? "You'll be alright." Seiji ka's, not sure if the girl was still concious or not. It didn't matter, asides from whispering words of encouragement he couldn't do much anyway.

It was only until Ranka's firm voice sounded through the air that Seiji tore his eyes from Sheryl. Just the sound of her words seemed angered. It was the first time that Seiji had heard any emotion in her voice, and she was anything but pleased. He felt a chill sweep through the area, even though his eyes could not see the spirits, he assumed they were there. Having been with the twins all this time he had guessed when they were using their gifts. Whether intentional or not, just looking to the pale girl from his position, she looked full of anger. Her worry for her sister was clear, though how far would the nurse insist upon all of this? Not much longer he would hope. Any more and Seiji thought he might have to go try to calm Ranka.
