Haucon tried to stay out of the way while Aidan looked through what was left of her shop. He watched the floor and ceiling carefully looking for signs of structural weakness that might be dangerous, but he didn't want to disturb Aidan, especially after all that had happened to her today.
He glanced out of the window just briefly and saw...A skeleton...walking? What?! He blinked a few times, looked away and looked back. Yes, there was indeed a skeleton walking down the street, and to make matters more confusing and potentially worse, it seemed to be armed. Haucon took note of the quiver of arrows slung around its back and the tatters of clothing hanging off of it. He looked back at Aidan who seemed distracted as she leafed through some of what was left of her enormous wall of herbs. Better not to disturb her now...he thought to himself. She's probably somewhat safer in here anyway. He tried to reason. I'll just go investigate then.
Making as little noise as possible so as not to attract the attention of either the skeleton or Aidan, Haucon made his way to the door. He glanced around and picked up a rather large piece of charred timber off the floor and fit it in his grip tightly. Better safe then sorry, he thought as he quietly opened the door and peered into the street after the skeleton.
((sorry all, I've been really busy and hadn't been able to think of a way to get this going. I should be back for about a week and then I"m on spring break for a bit, sorry again!))

((It's alright. Probably my fault for not moving things along either. I didn't want to leave Malaroth's group behind, but I suppose I'll move some of the other things.
This post is for Giyari. I'll get to Articx and EKA sometime tomorrow or later.))
Chronopolis South Gate "Well, sh**!" Obviously, Adam's outburst had caught some of the infantry guard's attention. On the other hand, the rest of the guards were so used to Adam cursing that they completely disregarded it. That wasn't the case for some of the archery units from Kira's unit. At this point, they could only watch and aim carefully since the enemy was too close for them to safely hit the enemy with precision.
Adam, the ultimate hater of magic out of the five captains, was now confronted with something that could only be a result of magic; a walking skeleton. "Damn, Tia. You should be the one handling this one," he muttered. However, as he stared the skeleton down, he realized that he had a range advantage. He had a halberd. The skeleton had a mere knife. But of course, the skeleton kept moving toward him as he ineffectively stared the skeleton down. He would rather be against 500 human enemies than one animated skeleton.
"Keep fighting, men! I'll take care of this f***ing abomination," Adam grunted as he took the first swing at the skeleton and successfully lodged his axe into the skull of the skeleton. However, that did not stop the skeleton from ambling forward. "F**k." The captain had to dislodge the axe now, but the skeleton moving was not helping and the skeleton was quite obviously readying a strike on his person.
And of course, no one noticed Taint and how she had conveniently "fortified" the portcullis. They would learn soon.
-----------------------
"Ahhh! Captain Tia! That thing is attacking Captain Adam!"
"Pfft. Well, let's fix it then! More easily said than done. Everyone focus!"
-----------------------
Adam nailed the skeleton with a solid kick, making the skeleton stumble backwards. In the process, he grabbed the handle of the axe and pulled. The impact of his kick was apparently not enough to cram the axe out. The skeleton swiped at him, and Adam barely dodged as his hands were still on the handle. Goddammnit. I should just abandon the axe. But it was one of his favorite axes and he did not want the axe to die jutting out of some skeleton's skull.
Suddenly, however, the skeleton faltered, losing its step. Adam took the opportunity to kick the skeleton mandible down onto the dirt and this time, succeeded in yanking out the axe. He raised it above his head and smashed it on the neck bones, dividing the head from the rest of the body. "Huh. Problem solved." Adam got up and found that his troops were retreating. They were being overwhelmed for whatever reason, and Adam, in all his genius antics, was puzzled.
"Enemy reinforcements are coming!!!" Adam heard from the watchtower.
"F***! Archers, cover our retreat. Men, slowly retreat back through the gate!" Adam roared as he charged toward the front lines to clear out some of the enemy. The Chronopolitan soldiers immediately moved away from him. Their captain was known to have wide swings and cut many down with one swing of his axe.
During the retreat however, three of the soldiers were pushed into the gate, at which the portcullis creaked and in slow motion, began to topple over. "Well, what was that sound?" Adam grumbled. Hearing a loud crash behind him and glancing quickly behind, Adam realized that a couple of his soldiers had been crushed by the gate and some hopelessly impaled. "Well, sh**! This just gets better and better!"
"Start building a barricade NOW!" This had got to be the worst retreat in Chronopolitan history. To make it worse, something bony tapped him on the shoulder.
There was silence from the enemy and Chronopolitans , with the exception of those trying to help the ones crushed by the gate.
Adam really didn't want to turn around, but he did. "Sh**!" Freaking time for me to retreat too... It was the skeleton, headless, and its knife was raised. Somehow, Adam was able to avoid taking the full force of the blow, but he received a nice cut on his face. Adam dodged behind it and swung his halberd. To his surprise, the skeleton moved in a way to avoid taking the full force. Adam again cursed under his breath. Anyhow, he had at least pushed the skeleton into the human enemy soldiers.
While the portcullis was gone, there was a smaller less sturdy set of gate doors. Somehow, Adam made it through the doors while the archers held some of the enemy at bay. ...he barely made it. "F***. You, track down the Mage Division. They might still be at the castle. We need some support. I'm not sure if we can take another hit like that. Who the f*** fixed the gate? And someone get a doctor while we fortify this gate."
Combined, the enemy and mostly the portcullis had done a number on the infantry stationed at South Gate. Hopefully, Kira was faring better at East gate.
((Whoa. That was longer than I thought. Yes, the enemy soldiers at the South Gate are human/humanlike. ... Apparently, it wasn't Adam's time to die yet.))

((Shravra v.s. Skeleton #3
Oh, Lise, gave Shizuru an excuse to get involved in the above post.
Skeleton #4 will be addressed next. It is in view of Haucon, Aiden, and Lyris.))
The half eroded helmet toppled off at the prodding from the metalsmith. This particular skeleton was more responsive than the one that Taint and Malaroth had encountered... it stopped and turned the moment the helmet fell to pick it up.
Its jaws moved as though it was trying to talk, but nothing came out. Logically, it wouldn't have made sense it was able to verbally make words. There were no organs.
However, the skeleton did not make a motion to attack Shravra yet. It only stooped to pick up the helmet, and even waved at the metalsmith, very much interested in the sword that the metalsmith had. After all, the sword it held was slightly rusty...
-----------------------
"Captain Adam's in..."
"Good. The warding magic worked. Watch out for the others."
"Captain, do you know who is attacking and why?"
"We'll find out sooner or later."

Aidan Vale The Apothecary
Dropping her burdens in the charred doorway, Aidan stood for a second, taking in the damage. The longer she remained, the more she noticed that the air around her was heavy with the scent of smoldering herbs. Looking to one side of the room she noticed a cast-iron stand which had previously housed sets of candles, but was now covered in various puddles of wax. As she watched the stand still glowed faintly orange, and some of the wax continued to drip sluggishly. Those shelves closest to the doors, and therefore closest to the fire, looked as though they might collapse under the slight weight of the few glass vials that remained. After several long seconds of initial observation, Aidan finally advanced into the eerie shell of the shop. Stepping lightly, she moved over to the set of shelves that looked most sound, and began to take a mental inventory. Vaguely, she noted that the layout of the small apothecary had most likely saved the citizens from temporarily losing their heads due to the fumes. The products that would have been most dangerous if burned together remained safe in the rear of the shop, tucked away in her small store room. Gingerly lifting a blackened envelope, she began to become increasingly aware of the fact that the air around her was still leaden with a potent mix of scents. After only holding the envelope for a few short seconds, it crumbled away, leaving her hands covered in black ash. Blinking wildly, she felt the atmosphere slowly begin to make the tips of her fingers, ears, and toes tingle. Stepping away from the shelf, Aidan also noted that the pounding in her head was rapidly being replaced with a slight sense of reckless euphoria. Turning on her heel, she spoke, “Haucon, we should-…” Blinking several more times, she became conscious of the fact that the young man was no longer present. Shocked that she had not noticed his retreat, Aidan stepped closer to the windows in the front of her shop in order to look for the Stable Master. What she saw made her rub her eyes with the tips of her long fingers, smearing a bit of the ash across her delicate features. The condition of the shop was driven out of her mind as she took in the odd sight before her. Was Haucon walking toward… A skeleton? And was the skeleton actually upright? Aidan made her way quickly toward the door, grabbing her sheathed sword from its resting place as she passed. On silent feet, she stepped down the stairs. With her sense of discretion currently impaired by the fumes, Aidan strode confidently toward Haucon and the skeleton until she was close behind the larger man. In a voice softer than the falling rain, she whispered, “What in the world…?"

((Welcome back, Trigger. You reminded me about this post. I... forgot
Skeleton # 4 v. Haucon, Aidan, and Lyris.))
The skeleton apparently did not notice the movements of Aidan and Haucon. It ambled on slowly, and had reached for an arrow to nock onto its bow. Something interesting flashed on the remnants of clothes hanging off its bones. There was a badge of some sort, that resembled the emblem of one of the military branches. The badge, however, was not exactly the same as the current ones. Perhaps, its pirate appearance hinted at its possible branch... if it was related at all.

SHRAVRA the metalsmith Uncle Fred? The prod on the back of back of the rusted helmet worn by the skeleton gave the desired effect. Almost as soon as the helmet landed, it had reached around and picked it up. As it stood back up, it waved at him and even tried to talk to him. But most of its interest seemed to be directed at the sword that Shravra was holding. By this point it wasn't that big a surprise that it was after quality – any elf respected quality, and the bones in front of the metalsmith were definitely of that origin. I need to get it off the streets. Only place I could put it is my shop though. It'll have to do, but how to get it there? With a flash of an idea, Shravra put in a deep bow and motioned to his still open door, hoping that the elven bones still had the manners from its life. If it did, it would be unable to refuse the offer and if it didn't then he would have to use a bit of force to remove it from the streets instead.

[[Roleplay... is GO]] Sitting inside her small house near the southern gate, is Felecia Hawthorne. As she sits there reading her book waiting for the attack to end (if it ever does) she forgot to lock her door, thinking that they wouldn't get too far... "I never thought the city'd be attacked... i guess it had to come some time... i need another book" Though as she quietly sits there, she wonders what will happen if the enemy gets inside the city. She shuffles in her seat and tries to push it out of her mind...

Taint Imp Of Corruption OH YEAH!! Take that! Taint was in stitches, the portcullis did better than she expected it to. " AAHAHA!... Nice..." She screamed, and quickly ducked behind a chimney pot. Although she was disguised as something, her voice wasn't... She jumped across to the next roof to watch some more, although more havoc would also be in the making. Right, what next... Chimney pots falling? No, too much effort, building fires. Yes! much easier. She slung a small fireball into the middle of the roof thatch, enough to get things burning eventually, and hopefully cause the collapse of a wall or two, though the falling flaming thatch and smoke would be more of a problem. Wonder if that was empty... Ah, who cares. Right, now off to find Isabelle, I've left her alone for too long. She thought and took off from the smoking patch she had created. Isabelle The Barbers Daughter ...What to do... Wandering in and out of alleys was becoming extremely tedious, she couldn't find the bar at all and decided to give up. " Where the hell is that bar.. Guess I'll have to look later.... Oh? What this? Maybe I'll see some bloodshed." She said to herself rounding the corner towards the salon, which was almost adjacent to the the metal smiths. Right now he was wat almost looked like conversing with the bones. Isabelle stopped in her tracks and checked to see if she had her 'razors' on her, which she thankfully did. Am I in danger here? It's a skeleton, but it doesn't look like its malicious, at least to the metal smith anyway... I might be a different case if it notices my aura. I wonder if I could even do anything to a dead creature. Isabelle walked slowly watching every move around her, one hand on the 'razors' inside her waist pocket.

Despite the battle raging on outside the walls, Felecia couldn't help but wonder if staying there would just get her killed... her house isn't a fortress and she doesn't believe the playing dead strategy would work 'this' time... And though her conscious told her not to look outside she couldn't suppress the thought to do so...

((Felecia and Taint))
It just happened, out of pure luck, that Felecia's house was the one that the little demon Taint had set on fire.
One of the soldiers noticed, and of course... not surprisingly, Adam cursed. He really didn't need to deal with that right now. "I'm a f**king warrior, not a fire fighter, damn it."
Apparently, being from a wealthy family didn't mean that Felecia's house was the sturdiest in town.

((sorry for the inactivity. Life gets in the way sometimes...)) Lyris shrugged as he was ignored, turned, and saw a moving skeleton. "Damn, just what I need.." he whispered in relief to himself. He needed a way to vent, and this poor skeleton was the perfect way to do so. "Stand back, fellas. They don't call me Deadeye for nothing." he proclaimed, half making his presence known, half referring to his excellent marksmanship. He pulled out his revolver, spun it around his finger once to bring it at eye level. Lyris squinted as he took aim at the skeleton's skull...
As Shane recovered from his wild swing, he noticed the Skeleton getting back up and advancing on him. Shane squinted as he locked his sword out, as though pointing at the skeleton, grasped the hilt with both hands, and moved it up, placing the hilt three inches from his head, the blade parallel with his eyes and the flat side facing him. Shane widened his stance just a tad as he did all this. "Nobody knows this stance. I made it up myself. There's no way that skeleton can counter my next attack." he thought. After a fraction of a second, Shane stepped forward, and as he did so, performed a 360 spin, bringing the blade around as he spun, making it smash into the skeleton once more with the momentum the spin gave him.
((For reference, use this video. 1:04 is the stance reference, and I'll have the "spin attack" reference up later. For now, I'm gonna head out to bed.))

((It's alright, Mal. Things happen.
Skeleton #1 v. Shane...and Felecia
Skeleton #4 v. Haucon, Aidan, Lyris))
The skeleton's spear and makeshift potlid shield plopped out of its grasp as the skeleton was sent flying across the street. Shane's hit had somehow cracked the skeleton's backbone, separating the skeleton's top half of the body from its hip and legs. The timing of his hit had also prevented the skeleton from sluggishly stabbing Shane. it took a moment for the skeleton to right itself, but it would right itself and head for its weapons, even if it meant crawling with its arms or aimlessly walking with its feet. Whatever the case, it looked like Shane had made progress on defeating the skeleton since it just more disoriented now... understandably.
Meanwhile, in her wandering, Felecia would happen upon the battle between Shane and the skeleton. She would be closest to where the skeleton's spear had landed.
----------------------------- Bang! Lyris's shot smashed through the skeleton's skull, leaving a nice hole in the back of the skeleton's head. However, the shot had the unfortunate effect of pushing the skeleton toward Haucon and Aidan... and because of the push, it could now "see" the two of them. If anything was more visible now, it would be the badge.

((Skeleton #3 v. Shravra and Isabelle (but mostly Shravra) ))
What luck... it seemed that the skeleton had elven origins and manners. However, it also seemed that the skeleton was on some sort of time schedule. It seemed unwilling to enter the shop, and merely pointed toward the outer walls of Chronopolis, and the other hand pointing at the sword in Shrava's hand, as if trying to explain something.
----------------
Meanwhile, somewhere far away, in a meeting, the Lord of Chronopolis actually frowned. Someone was going to die for their acts. That someone was employing a form of necromancy, imperfect, but still a form of necromancy. Necromancy was a forbidden art for a reason that, no doubt, the someone did not know. Yes, the Lord was going to kill them as he had killed all others that had attempted to practice necromancy so far.

Seeing the spear lying close to her, she immediately shrank away before noticing the small fight that took place in front of her. Before caring to figure what just happened, Felecia looked around nervously, thinking that the person that had defeated the skeleton would then come after her she stepped back a bit, though still clutching the locket and book carefully...
