"It's fine, Valzar. I know it must seem strange to you. I"ll stay above ground today." She waved a hoof and closed the earth. "I'll be over here, then. You should catch some sleep too. It will help you heal and replace the blood you lost." She waved her hoof again and created a pillow for herself and Valzar. Another wave of her hoof created blankets. "Now you'll be a little more comfortable, I hope."

Callista smiled and whispered. "You're welcome, Valzar." She took her last breath and shut down her heart.

Valzar opened his eyes several hours later, shocked to find the sun was setting, "I slept all day...Father's going to be upset..."

Callista's heart started beating and she took in her first breath of the night. "How are you feeling today?" She stood up slowly and stretched the kinks out of her muscles.

"You mean tonight," he said trying to push himself up. "I think I'm doing better," he said before dizziness overtook him and sent him back to his knees.

Callista was there in an instant, bracing his fall. "You're still weak. You should eat something. If you don't mind waiting a bit, I can get you some vegatable soup shortly?"

"You think soup will help?" he groaned as he found himself back on the ground. "I feel like someone smashed something over my head..."

Callista nodded. "I think you're still recovering. You need to drink plenty of fluids and eat something." She put her hoof on his forehead. "I need to go and hunt. When I come back, I can get you some soup and see about healing you better."

"Yes. I have to sustain myself somehow. I know that you wouldn't want me taking from you and I don't like to take from my friends. Besides, if I'm going to take you back to your father's tonight, I'm going to need my strength." She made a sympathetic face. I know that this is weird. I'll try to be more sensitive to how I say things.

"I know and I'm sorry. I was going to try to break things a little more gently, but time didn't permit it." She started taking down the safeguard to the main entrance of the cave. "Will you be alright here while I go find something to eat?"
