I took a creative writing course last year. I got dual credits for my high school and college. I had an amazing teacher too heart It was for essays and stuff, but it really helped my fictional writing too. For example, the way my teacher taught us how to outline is a way I've adapted my outlines for books. Also I enjoyed the peer editing that we did. When I get published I'll be sure to send the teacher a copy because she really encouraged and helped me.

General Phade
I took a creative writing class last semester. It almost killed me.

It wasn't that it wasn't enjoyable, I just can't seem to keep my stories under ten pages. X3

Tell me about it. I can't write anything under a novella length (and even then I struggle to keep it that short). To be honest, I don't see the point of writing poems and short stories all of the time as not everyone likes them. Just because we are writers doesn't mean we write everything. I do see the point at honing those skills of using one sentence instead of many.

KaNugget - That's good smile . Creative Writing is a very short part of British English lessons at GCSE level. I did one unit on it through all of high school.

It's good to learn different techniques and to know how to write a certain way. A class basic 101 class (I'm not sure about England, but in most American school 100s are board while 500s are in depth about a certain aspect) should teach you everything. You should also learn a bit more about your focus, though. You shouldn't take an in depth class on short stories unless you want to write short stories, but learning a little about it in a basic writing class is a must.

I just finished reading your story, When Breathing Isn't Enough, and I have to say I was exceptionally thrilled. So exciting! And of course, I just loved the MxM, always my favorite.
The way Sam kept coming back was so intense! I stayed up pretty late just dying to find out what would happen, and how Chase would finally save Riley!
I also liked how Riley and Chase took their relationship slow, and didn't just dive into anything and everything (as much I would have like to read it XD).

I wanted to leave my feedback here, just so you could know your own guild members are taking interest in your work, but if it helps you I could also leave a review at the other site.
I know this doesn't have any critique, but as a beginning writer I don't notice much past the grammer and punctuation mistakes that you're already aware of.

Wow thank you very much! I must admit, I'm surprised at the amount of people who like 'When Breathing Isn't Enough' and 'The Silence that Follows'. I don't think they are good at all as I wrote them when I was first starting out writing MxM.

I am very thankful that you tried one out and liked it! I hope to write another general romance MxM soon...haha. As soon as I get the second part of Libertas done, eek!

I'm reading The Silence That Follows now, having a good time all over again.
cute crossdresser= cutest thing ever
Sometimes the writing starts to lose description or you'll repeat the same thing a few times (winking), like you were bored of writing or something, and just wanted to get it done.
But, other than that, its going good! I think I just finished chapter 6. I only have a limited amount of time on the computer each day, and I'm spending a large portion of it reading your stuff.

Haha I must admit, it was the first general fiction I had ever done. I liked writing it just sometimes it was tedious I must admit. Writing for an eager audience means you can't just put it down (and I was writing a chapter per day) and keep everyone happy.

I think I've gotten over the whole decription thing. I know I'm still working on that aspect smile Haha, you really don't know how happy I am that you are reading my stuff. It's nice to have constructive critism than constant 'I like this' or 'This is good'. Hahaha!

Well Libertas is finished, I have no idea if I am glad or not! I spent ages trying to figure out the title for the next part. Now it is called Verum and I'm already struggling with chapter one!

I'm busy running around to my auntie's with family problems and I'm trying to get all these creative writing stuff done. Results for my A Levels next wednesday! I am so scared...

Cor, it is tough running this guild sometimes. Where is Sugar?! I hope she's getting there smile

Libertas is still getting reviews, which I am thankful for and people have followed it to Verum. They love the dynamics between Nicholai and Julian, how politics has seperated them a little. Now onto more politics and historical references tomorrow! However, FictionPress is bothering me with the fact my hits aren't updating.

I have a tough weekend ahead. Tomorrow I'm taking my brother to the local museum to see a range of Egyptian artifacts sent in then going bowling with my family. Thenn, Sunday is one of my last weekends of work, which is kind of sad.

FictionPress still hasn't sorted out their error in hits so I have no idea how many people are reading Verum haha. But I have had a surprising amount of alerts/reviews/favourites and that is for the first chapter!

I'm getting more into Verum thank god. Though I know I will cut it short as I really need to get cracking onto a marketable piece!

Question about FictionPress: do you think you get a fair amounts of reviews? 'Cause I tend to write one-shots and get barely any reviews, but you seem to have a decent fanbase and you write these milti-chaptered stories. Also, what do you think is the genre that gets the most hits and reviews? Sorry, I haven't been active there for a few years.

Sorry I've not been online more to help with the guild, Desert! I guess I'm having a lot of trouble this summer. XD

It's good that you're getting more into Verum. Maybe you can relax and go with it a bit more now, without worrying. :]

Hahaha hey guys smile

KaNugget - Wellll, FictionPress is a toughie. You do have to have the correct genre. I write slash so...that puts me in the hot area. I find supernatural/fantasy are the biggest, popular sides of the site. I do get a good, fair amount of reviews though more hits/favourites/alerts. One shots are a bit iffy. I remember being just a reader on there and I always went for multi-chaptered fictions.
If there is anything else I've missed out, please say. smile

PMS - No, it's been fine! The guild runs itself half the time, so that is handy. Plus I have lots of free time on my hands so that helps. Yes, Verum hated me with a passion but now it is playing nice! So very thankful for that!

Wellll, still writing Verum. I keep getting distracted and worrying about my A Level results, 19th of August! *Hides*. I leave work this weekend as well, which is sad.

I love it when someone reviews and has read it in such detail they pick on the things I embed really deeply. One reviewer spotted the connection between the new character and my main and has linked it with a lethal plan. Haha, plus I haven't told my Beta the storyline so it is great hearing her reaction.

I was reading a few of the reviews you've had on Verum, actually, and they all seem really positive - in a deep, thoughtful way! I don't think I ever had such in-depth criticism when I was on FP. Probably because I appeal more to a niche market, and I don't like posting whole novels online, haha.

I keep tempting myself to post my new novel online, but I feel like keeping it to myself might be the best thing to do. I love feedback, but if it's a secret, then I don't have to explain to anybody if I fail, which is usually where I get worried. I used to write for people, and now I think I should try something else. XP

Haha, yes, some do have things to offer yet I do get the occasional 'this is good, please update soon' kind of thing. I used to write all for myself and I wasn't open to what others would think. FictionPress did open my eyes and allows me to pick out the things I know my reviewers will pick out hahaha.
