Tilting his head a bit, Miles watched her as she spoke. Her movements; her gestures. She didn't quite seem herself. It wasn't so much a faltering in confidence as much as an anxiety to please. He wondered briefly whether she was doing this for Jaydn: to prove her competence, or for herself: to genuinely earn experience. Maybe it didn't matter. She may never get some power for herself, after all. That must feel awful.
Miles lightly shrugged at her question, letting his features fall into their familiar tiredness. "Enjoying isn't quite the word. If anything it's shown that our guys are a bit more listless than I thought. Guess I'll just have to get them used to their job." Giving a few of them some more dangerous jobs to make them jaded was somewhat tempting. " Being cooped up in an office building is just making them disillusioned. I'd prefer veterans of the street. " He said, as he took his cigarette case out. ******** it; he wanted to smoke, so he was going to.
" As for information, we're at a slight standstill. But even so..." He paused to light up, then gazed at her sternly. "With or without knowledge of a pattern, you especially need to be careful Kyrin. We should be more concerned about our own information. It's not well known that Jaydn is gone, but that could be valuable info to someone else. We're not exactly vulnerable, but now would be a good time to strike at us, if ever. Keep that in mind. "

In the Library, quite tucked away from the ruckus of the building, Nori lay asleep on the desk in front of him. Pencil was still in hand as his back had bent over onto his math work, hair tussled over his face. It was the pins and needles of his leg now that woke him. He scrunched up his face in the light that fell on his eyes now and rubbed his neck before realizing where he was. Oh. he thought. I came here to finish up work... Ah! Nori sat up immediately, almost falling out of his chair. What if Xavier's been waiting for me?! Head rush. He sat back down for a moment, glancing groggily at the papers that he had completed. It was pretty solid mathematics, as he had been sure to check over his work a few times. He gathered them up into his arms, standing up a bit more slowly, and making his way out of the door, never for a second clued in on what had gone on around him as he slept. He made for Xavier's office, everything seeming just as calm as when he had walked the halls before.
From an elevator on the opposite side of the floor, Nori walked to Xavier's door, about to knock, when he saw that he had only just missed him, as he was there, at the elevator, engaged in conversation with Jun and a stranger. Would it be okay to interrupt? It's not business, right? But then he realized that what he had in his own hands was business and had better give it to Xavier. Walking over quietly and unobtrusively, Nori stood a little bit beyond their circle of conversation, waiting to be acknowledged, or at least waiting patiently for Xavier to finish whatever it was he had to say, nodding slightly to Jun.

Kyrin was momentarily transfixed by the cigarette as Miles slowly lifted his vice to his lips. His last comment...warning, was something that Kyrin had thought of. It was true that if someone found out that Jaydn was away that it could be a problem. She'd been staying within the building, which was driving her slightly insane, since she didn't have time to do her rounds to the bars like was normal for her. Instead she had Andy, her second if she wasn't available, on the job. She settled back in her chair, an expression that bordered on defiance and annoyance crossed her face. "Yes, I'm aware." And then suddenly realizing that she'd probably been rude, she sighed, "I'm being careful." She amended, in a softer tone. Ky brushed a strand of hair away from her face and then said, "I'm going to call a meeting soon. Probably once Jason arrives, so that we can go over our courses of action and figure out what information Jun has acquired." Now she was looking out the window of his office, watching the wind blow the clouds gently across the sky. There was a few moments of silence between them, then with a sort of wishfulness to her voice, Kyrin spoke offhandedly towards the outside, "I could sure use a drink."

The elevator doors slid open and Jun shut his eyes to better adjust to the change in light. When they opened up Xavier was approching them. "Hey Xay. We were just heading up to the kitchen to get something to eat."
Haruo helped Katzchen down from his shoulder and into Xaviers hands.
"Yes, you should join us, if you can spare the time." Haruo smiled widely and put his arm around Jun's shoulders. "Our friend here is suffering from a case of exhaustion. He needs some rest and fuel."
Jun chuckled easily and turned to answer Xavier's question, but the sight of the kitten playing with his bright orange hair made him laugh out loud.
"Nothing Interesting, but I can tell you about it over a meal, and preferably a table and chair or two"

Only a small curve at the corner of his mouth revealed itself at her first tone of irritation. Kyrin was probably used to hearing warnings of her safety from her father. She didn't want to be treated like a child, but it was her childishness that surfaced with her annoyance. After correcting herself however, Miles' expression went back to one of indifference. As her eyes moved to the window, his went back to his desk, pulling up the sleeves of his shirt. " I'll be waiting for your call then."
With the following silence, Miles was surprised that Kyrin hadn't left. He watched the smoke steadily settle around the room, until Kyrin made a request for a drink. He stared at her for a moment and suppressed a laugh. " Isn't that the truth." He remarked.
There was a bottle of Scotch in the bottom drawer of his desk, but Miles hesitated a moment, wondering if he should really be offering her alcohol. Well, if only a little. He relished the look on her face when placed a small glass cup on his desk in front of her and poured her a drink.

Xavier let out a laugh as the kitten batted at his hair and shook his head lightly to make the kitten’s new found game more fun. He stopped for a moment to look up at Jun and without missing a beat he said, ”Yeah, you do kind of look like s**t.” He said it earnestly but then smiled again. It seemed as good a time as ever to eat; after all it was after one in the afternoon. “I think that a good meal would be great. Maybe we can find Nori and get something good made!” And as he turned to lead the way to the kitchen his smile increased, ”Nori!” Holding the kitten out in front of the other man’s face he said, ”They found your kitty.” And then without hesitation, ”Will you make lunch? Jun is starving, just look, he’s wilting away!” He didn’t even seem to remember the papers that he’d been waiting for, as his mind was focused on what might be in store for lunch.

The clink of the glass on Miles’ desk drew Kyrin’s attention more then his words had spoken and a smile snaked its way across her lips. She gave him a sort of disbelieving look and then shook her head, causing her hair to fall gently across her shoulders, ”Oh you would.” She looked at the Scotch and a glimmer of hope formed in her mind, I may not lose my mind afterall. It seemed that Miles was looking out for her, watching her back, but Kyrin couldn’t decide why it would be. A part of her wanted it to be about the two of them being friends…?, maybe, but her mind argued against her heart, He’s in it for the same reason you are, stupid. She scolded herself, He is looking out for the business and since I am in charge for now, he has to look out for me, make sure I don‘t screw up. Because if things go well while Jaydn is gone, it will look good on Miles’ part as well as mine. And her thoughts went on like this, at least until she took the glass from the table and put it to her lips. After that, all she could think of was how the Scotch tasted, Miles hadn’t bought the cheap stuff, and why would he? She drank it slowly and then placed the glass back down. For a minute, she could only relish in it, and then she looked up at Miles. She wanted to say something about how little she’d been able to see him “outside of work”, but since Miles seemed to be mostly in business mode, save the drink he’d just poured her, she thought better of it. ”How long’ve you been keeping that there?” There was a hint of laughter in her voice.

Nori hadn't seen the kitten at all when he had first approached the group, but as soon as katzchen's fluffy head was noticed, Nori gave a small gasp. How did he get out?! It seemed, however, that the kitten was very safe with them, which was a small relief.
As Xavier suddenly turned to see him, Nori, a little surprised, took Katzchen gently from his grip. He couldn't help but smile at his last remark. " Oh, of course, I can fix something up. Sorry, I didn't realize the time at all...I hope Katzchen wasn't too much trouble." His hand went to pull on the fringe of hair by his ear, but it moved to help the kitten onto his shoulders instead. "
Be a good kitty now." he said softly to the mischievous fluffball. It wouldn't be good to have the small animal wandering around the floor or getting lost in someone else's room. Nori's mind turned back to his original purpose, awkwardly holding the mess of papers out to Xavier. " Here you go. These are finished. I didn't mean to take so long, I kind of ...fell asleep. " He apologized.
Eyes sweeping over to Jun, Nori slightly nodded his head to him in acknowledgment. " Hi Jun. Sorry, I'll make something soon." Then, With a soft " Hi." to the stranger, presumably his friend, he held out his hand; the ever nervous smile on his face. "I'm Nori."

" Since we moved into the building; Although I don't make it a habit to drink alone." Miles answered. She seemed in a much better mood now. " Comes in handy in such times." Considering they hadn't had the time to go out together or fool around, it had been a while since they'd been able to just relax and talk. But now that he thought about it, he hadn't been out to the bar with Charles or Jaydn in even longer. He had been accommodating Kyrin almost exclusively. That didn't sound good in his mind at all.
Miles poured himself a small drink as well, watching the liquid as he swirled it around his glass, and taking a sip.

Jun mumbled his greetings to nori and something about there being no rush on the food, and comenced to collapse into one of the comfortable chairs in the dinning area. He appeared to have fallen asleep sometime before his head rested onto the table. All in all it was a very pathetic display.
Haruo took Nori's hand and smiled very warmly with his greeting. "Nice to meet you Nori, I am Haruo." Haruo thought Nori was very attractive for a man, and the way he dressed seemed to enhance his feminine beauty. "I work downstairs, I apologies for the disruption, my..." Haruo gestured towards his unconscious coworker."Friend here desired a place to dine and rest that was a little more... peaceful than the kitchens down there. I hope we are not interrupting any of your business." Haruo let his eye divert to the papers that passed between Xavier and Nori at this last.

Kyrin nodded and crossed one leg over the other, watching Miles. Looking out the window again, she thought of what else there was to say. As she was about to get up, her phone rang, the ring tone told her it was Jaydn. She looked at Miles for a moment and silently apologized for the interruption. Answering the phone she said, ”Well I’m glad to know you’re still alive.” Her tone hinted at the smile that was now on her face. She was happy to hear his voice; not knowing what was going on in Japan with her Uncle had her worried.

”Well, I generally don’t like the idea of being dead. How are things there?”

”What? No, first, how are things there?”

”Well, it’s really dark right now and too damn early to be awake. Mother says hello.”

Kyrin, who would have glared at her cousin if he’d been there, said, ”What the hell? That’s not what I meant.”

A short laugh came through the phone. ”Everything’s fine. Father is doing better. Maddox and I have got only a few kinks left to work out. Now, how is everything going over there?”

At Kyrin’s short outburst of annoyance, Miles could guess who was on the other side of the phone, but it wasn’t until he could hear Jaydn’s laugh from the phone was it confirmed. “ Is that Jaydn?” he asked quietly. He usually wouldn’t interrupt, but the fact that it was Jaydn finally making contact changed things.

With a nod to Miles, Kyrin turned her attention back to her conversation, ”I’m glad to hear.” And then she hesitated a moment, ”We’ve had a few complications here ourselves, though we are working through it as we speak.”

There was a slight pause before Jaydn responded, ”I get the feeling that you’re downplaying it. When you say ‘complications‘, what do you mean exactly?”

Kyrin looked at the ceiling for a moment, thinking. How was it that she could tell Jaydn that his “baby” got sick right after he left. Not that I could have helped it. She thought, It would have happened whether or not he was here. After a moment of silence, she replied, ”No, I believe that complications would be the correct word, although I’d have to say that a death would be considered a rather large complication.” She waited for him to blow up, she knew it was coming.

”There was a death? Who the hell did you let die?”

With a sigh, Kyrin said, “Who did I let die!?” When she noticed Miles holding his hand out for the phone, she shook her head and continued, “I didn’t let him die. Its not my fault that he got himself killed.” For a second she stopped, drew in a breath and held it. As she let it out, she regained control over her temper, the alcohol still working on her. ”We have reason to believe that it’s the same group that has been offing the members of the others organizations. Although Leo wasn’t particularly as high up as the others who’ve been picked off.” She paused, ”It happened early this morning and we’ve already been able to gather quite a bit of information, through some of Miles’ sources and some of our street men.”

”Well, does your information tell you who this organization might be?” Jaydn’s voice was slightly agitated but otherwise cool.

”No, we have no more information on who it is then we had before you left.” She thought and then said, ”I’m bringing in the Flynn brothers, in hopes that a new perspective might turn something up.”

”’The Flynn Brothers‘? Oh. Right, them. A new perspective could be useful but keep them apart first, I want to see how well they work independently. I’m placing one with your team and another on Miles’. Let him know.”

”Well he is here," She said as she placed the phone on the desk between them and turned her speaker phone on, ”He can hear you now. Also, they wont be going anywhere unchecked, I believe that having them with someone at all times is the best course of action.”

Hello Jaydn; Long time no see. ” Miles said to the speaker, somewhat glad that Jaydn had wanted to speak with him as well. He had a somewhat clear idea of what they were talking about based on Ky’s side of the conversation. “ So we’re still on the plan of watching over the Flynns’? We could definitely put them to use.

"Hello Miles. Good to hear from you. We were just speaking of the Flynns so I hope you'll be willing to take on an extra man."

That was what Miles didn't want to hear; babysitting. "No problem. I'll keep them busy." he said nonchalantly. He would have to keep them busy in order not to kill them in frustration. At worst, one would die. At best... well, at best, they might actually be useful to him.

"Just one Miles. Your pick. Kyrin will take the other."

Not really caring which twin he was going to be burdened with, Miles named the first of the twins that came to mind. "Alright. I'll get in contact with Caiden soon."

Ky nodded and watched Miles' face, and then she said, "Is there any other news Jaydn?"

There was a moment of silence from the other side of the line. "Well, I'll be sending Maddox back to you. It sounds like you'll be needing him more than I do."

Being as civil as she could about Jaydn's not so subtle jab at her and Miles' abilities, Kyrin replied, "We look forward to his return then."

"He'll be taking the next plane out. Be sure to send someone to get him. I'll be coming back in a couple more weeks. If you need anything, call me. I'll be checking back regularly myself."

Jason stepped out of the taxi and tipped the driver heavily. He rubbed his eyes trying to adjust them to the light while he mumbled about how much he would like to be in Miami. Pulling his brief case from the car he started towards the building. He pushed aside the doors and entered the lobby, most days he all but flew through the lobby, today he moved at a crawl. He came to a halt in the middle of the lobby something he had never done before and took a deep breath and looked about the room like it was the first time he had actually seen it. “Back to work.” he said as an almost inaudible sigh. He took one more deep breath and began to move as he always did with long powerful strides crossing the lobby with movements that borderlined graceful. His eyes locked on the security guard as he walked around the metal detectors with a look, daring him to say something. After Jason’s run in with the security guard on his first day he had all the guards informed that he would not be using the metal detectors. He walked into to the elevator and pressed the button for his floor. ******** I want some waffles hope miss stick up her a** don’t mind a brother eating before I work. Jason exited the elevator and started towards the lunchroom.

Xavier watched the kitten perch on Nori's shoulder and vaguely reminded of a parrot. He smiled. His attention, however, didn't linger on the parrot cat very long as he was distracted by the papers that Nori had held out to him. Fell asleep? Xavier looked at him in slight wonder, While he was working...? However curious Xavier was about that particular fact, he kept it to himself and accepted the papers with a nod of thanks.
While they walked, Xavier shuffled through the papers that he was holding and made a slight pit stop as they went to grab his laptop. He didn't have any trouble grabbing it on the way and keeping up with the group heading towards the kitchen. Since Nori had finished the paper, Xavier wanted to input the information as soon as he had a chance. Xavier settled himself into one of the chairs next to Jun and shrugged off the jacket of the suit he'd been wearing. Instead of letting Nori reply to Haruo, however, Xavier replied to him offhandedly,
"You aren't interrupting at all."

As she heard the tale tell silence on the other end of the phone, Kyrin reached out and flipped it shut. She stayed quite for a few minutes, contemplating what Jaydn had told them. Although Kyrin wouldn't say it out loud, she was happy that Maddox would be coming back; she could really use his brain power right about now. Standing slowly, she turned her attention to Miles, "I will be calling a meeting in an hours time." After giving him the information on the meeting and where it would be, Kyrin left his office and made her way to the kitchen. On her way there, she could already hear Xavier's voice. Good, I can get something to eat AND inform Xay.

Nori smiled lightly at Jun; He had been used to that personality enough, and dismissed Haruo's apology with a slight wave of hand. It was a sign of trust and comfort that someone would sleep freely in another's presence. Kätzchen was let down to roam free for a bit, although Nori was sure he wouldn't travel too far if he started to smell food cooking.
Nori pushed a small glass dessert cover towards the men that had small and vibrant pastries inside. "You can snack on these if you'd like, until I get something properly put together. What do you have in mind?"
It was then that Ky made her appearance. Nori beamed at her, but she seemed quite tired at first glance.
