I've been playing flute for 9 years this year, so if anyone wants tips/advice, feel free to PM me! I work with other flutes IRL all the time - I love teaching and helping people get better. =^.^=

I'm interested in becoming a flute teacher, so I'm looking into that this semester. biggrin

So, uh...go flutes?

HIII!!!!!!!!!!! I'm a flute player in my band (concert and marching)!
I'm in 11th grade, and this is my 6th year of playing the flute.
We're a 5A band, and I love it!
I'm the section leader, and I have a solo in our marching show. (it's so pretty!)
Next weekend, we are performing at the BOA Super Regionals in St. Louis.
If any of you are gonna be in it, tell me! (especially if you're in the Broken Arrow band, you guys are AMAZING)

and we're going to perform at the BOA Grand Nationals in Indianapolis!
I'm so excited!
Anyways..... that's all I have to say about band!

(I heart THE FLUTE!!!!!!!!!!!)

being in a 5a is pretty cool
it's awesome to have a band of 160 people marching around, especially at parades. people always say that our band is too big because we're one of the 2 biggest bands in our half of the state.
maybe it's just me, and I'm not trying to offend anyone when I say this, but to me, I think bigger marching bands have it a little easier when it comes to dynamics and things like that. when there's 160 people playing on the field, you don't have to play so loud.
I dunno, maybe it's just me. I haven't seen a lot of smaller bands perform before, so I can't say much ^^;

I don't have any 2a or 5a bands, so... It's all strange numbers and letters to me. But like Tacey said, I can help you with just about anything that relates to flutes, although I'm too young to be a teacher. rofl

Any piccolo players in here??

And just as a random question, what brand is your flute and is it: a) a student flute? (meaning closed holes) b) and intermediate (open holes ut not THAT special?) or c) a professional flute? (all sterling silver/special stuffs)

i have two student flutes and one professional(i loves it to death cause it plays so well)
my professional is an Emerson brand and has a fancy flower design on the mouth piece, is open holed, and has the extra, low b-natural key on the foot. oh and the head piece is sterling silver (at least i think - it says so on the head piece but i'm not sure about the rest of it)

one student flute i have had since i started band in 6th grade and is a geimeinheart (or however you spell it)

the other is totally crappy and i "stoled" it from my ex
---i WAS originally borrowing it, then we moved . . . and then i broke up with him. so now it is mine = w =

but it is REALLY really crappy. the middle section is maybe a millimeter or two shorter than a regular student flute that you find at portmans or any other instrument store, and the overall diameter is a tiny bit smaller too. some of the notes don't even play well. i want to LITERALLY make it parallel to the ground!! > O < !!!
let's see how long it lasts with a steam roller... muahaha~
