He let out a little trill-like purring sound at the attention and curved his head into like a cat. "Cap'n Gemma doesn't yell a whole lot. Neither does he." Jerking his head towards Kaznec who had just slipped into Gem's cabin. "But he doesn't like me and that's alright with me!" Giving an emphatic nod to that. "You're not afraid of him, are ya?" That mourning sound rattled him and he stepped closer to Jae under the pretense that he was guarding her even if he was afraid. "Don't worry, Jaebelltiah. I'll let nothing happen to you."

"Your family situation has always been rather unique yourself." He'd been the baby in his family for a really long time so it made sense that things would be a little different. "I wouldn't be so sure. They know you have the ability to sense things and you made the compass. Not to mention if we happen to come upon some foe, little works against those that are already dead. The dead fight the dead rather well, though which makes you not only an asset but an irreplaceable one."

That boat was tempting but Daddy obviously wanted them to follow. She glanced back at its white sails a few times but continued her hop-glide pattern that she used to get around more often than not. A tilt of her head and she clicked the claws on her hands together. "Can't they eat them?" Then a brilliant idea hit her and she latched to her brother in triumph. "You could eat them!"

((At the suggestion of my revered teacher, I've decided to tweek this post a little, hope that no one mids))

Sibrar, had been silent and keeping to his own for most of the trip, he had found passage on the vessel and had kept his word to help out with some of the manual labor as they made there way across the sands.

For now, Sibrar stood looking over the bow of the impressive vessel, wondering about this city of the dead. It was a beautiful place, as any place which honered the dead should be. He found a comfort in it's silence.

A look up to what he was referring to before she looked back to him. “He doesn’t do much talking at all, that’s just how he is. It’s not that he doesn’t like you either…he just doesn’t know how to handle children.” Who had a very peculiar nature about them like Cyvalor had. “No, I’m not afraid of him.” Holding him closer like he wanted to be before lifting him up and setting him in her lap, he could pretend he wasn’t scared but that sound could be quite intimidating. “Oh you won’t will you?” Pressing her cheek to his and giving him a little nuzzle. “I guess I don’t have to worry at all about anything then.” Ears twitching lightly at that sound again and trying not to jump the gun on going, she really didn’t want Kaznec yelling at her and she figured they’d get there soon enough.

“I’d rather not talk about it.” Shrugging light then before a blink in his general direction. “Somehow I don’t think that they would appreciate me raising dragons and what not to fight others. If there’s a body or something out there, I’d be glad to use it though for someone special.” Because that would just be loads of fun…but short of freshly killing herself a Rider or something, she was out of luck for the moment.

“You can’t eat ghosts, stupids.” Frowning at his sister, sometimes she was a lot like daddy in her ideas. “Besides, eating people ‘oesn’t make ‘em happy.” Blinking at the play board and poking at a piece. “How do we make then happy again? They have to go to bed in the ground, right?”

“Hush, both of you. Eating is not an option…for the ghosts anyway. However, people are going there to mess with them. That will make them more sad and that is why they are up wandering in the first place. If you chase the people away the ghosts will be happy. How do you think you should do that?”

Desdemona was moving on her own through the necropolis, casually and cold. she knew this place far better then those city dragons would, and she knew the ancients that were laid to rest here. at least some of them. though she had never been allowed before much past the graves of her direct kin. She'd find the shards, and she'd make the little wretch suffer. she'd learn to use them, to turn that power against the ones seeking it.

Drifter was the last of the pirates left in the city. they had rebuilt, refortified it using her geomancy and old fashioned labor. Technically, the Leviathan still ruled here, and she was the 'liason' but doing her tasks and making things work. so far no major events had happened...it was almost like whomever had this power knew she'd be able to track it back...and wasn't risking it.

"I'm not a child." Said with all the defiance only a child could muster and still come across completely untrue. He did enjoy the bit of attention she was giving him and sitting in her lap, he suddenly felt safe once more. "Nothing at all, Jaebelltiah. I'd never ever ever let anything happen to you." It probably didn't occur to him that his own parents were out in that graveyard somewhere. Nothing more than a pile of bones but finding them would likely result in the same reaction as Desdemona.

"You've never cared about what they thought before, Vryn. Why now? Especially when you raising such things could easily save lives." Not that he was particularly concerned about most of those who were on the ships now. "Planning on bringing that self-righteous captain back from the grave, are we? I forbid it."

"I'm not stupids, you are!" She didn't particularly care if you could eat ghosts or not. This little problem was interrupting her play. "With monsters?" Standing up on her hind legs and scratching at the air in imitation. "We made the people go away in the big tall place, too."
PostPosted: Sat Jan 31, 2009 11:16 pm

"Right I'm sorry, you're not a child. You're a big brave dragon that shines like the sun!" Nuzzling her cheek against his again as she played to his childish boyish ego. "Well then, I feel very very safe." Tail end flicking back and forth lightly by her boots perhaps in a little show of upbeat mood...children were good for that she often heard. "Long as you don't cause trouble now."

"It gets tiresome to hear after a while to hear all the disdain about it, honestly. I can only roll my eyes so much before they start to ache." Blinking though and looking at him, or more pointedly just off point and thus over his shoulder. "Forbid it? Who are you to tell me what I can do and can not do." Besides, she couldn't stand self indulgent grieving, it made one look so pitiful. Not that she cared but she had to listen to it all day and that was not a good thing.

"You are!" Sticking his tongue out at her before attention was back to daddy, blinking curiously. "With earth shaking!"

"Monsters always scare people away. What kind of monsters do you think will do the job?" They were at least creative. "And earth shaking is always good. But this time you don't want to make the land sad. Just the people."

He was still an unbeliever to this whole rebuild thing, but he kept such thoughts to himself as he dealt with the fact that he had handed his city over to pirates after telling his son he wouldn't. This whole ordeal stung and it left a bad taste in his mouth as well. At least people were feeling secure somewhat. "Well...you do deliver what you promise." Said as he came to stand behind her, though his eyes were elsewhere.

Drifter gave a small smile.

"The Leviathan has no interest in owning your city. we need your city's ports perhaps, but you generate much trade around you. that trade is both legal, and non. like nature, the cities work together...take one element out of balance, and it can all fall apart."

she looked at the dragon, and lightly touched his shoulder with her glass arm.

"You worry for your son and your city. We worry as well. Deacon has passed on in this venture...how we have not been told. but we know his dragon lover is not taking it very well."

She watched the horizon...and nodded lightly to herself.

"The Serpent still hunts them. he is still opposed to the power of the sands...but time will tell who is right. we feel the orb, replaced, may help restore this world."
PostPosted: Sun Feb 01, 2009 2:12 pm

"And yet it does. You all seem to think I would not be willing to let you all trade freely, legal or not, in my ports. So long as it didn't endanger any aspects of life of my people you'd hardly get an argument from me." Shaking his head lightly with a sigh, his eyes blinking and turning to Drifter as she touched his shoulder.

Yes he had heard of Deacon's demise through the pirate network that was here and he was hard pressed not to head out to that group at that moment. Without Deacon around, he didn't know who controlled what anymore or how things shifted. "Yes...and yet there is nothing I can do, short of heading out there myself."

A c**k of his head at her however. "Restore it? Why do you think that? It didn't before, merely let us sustain in this world. Unless the Laerethe know pity and see us all but dead and we just don't know it yet." Yes he was ancy with everything that had happened and it was hard for him to stay still these days.

Drifter frowned lightly.

"Harm comes where pirates berth. it is a natural thing. the sands make one hard, make one like stone. they brok no mercy, and pirates often have none."

A small smile.

"Gem's first mate has taken command of the Chimera. there is a rumor, however that the girl...the one with the hawk, may have a means to restore Captain Deacon. I doubt the rumor. As to the Orb...you lacked the means to untilize it. you were taught how to manage it, not how to use it."

looking at the dragon lord.

"I think I can tap into it's strength, unleash it's true potential. the earth craves life again. it wants to bring forth the waters, to restore itself to it's former majesty. It is like the old veteran of countless wars, always wishing to reclaim the glory that was once theirs."
PostPosted: Sun Feb 01, 2009 2:42 pm

"That my dear is why we have Guardians. Pirates can only brew so much trouble when they have someone watching their backs. Besides, I've always had port limits in place to keep anyone from getting to comfortable." Shrugging though and crossing his arms, not intending to argue with a pirate on pirate things.

At least she was freely giving information on what they knew was going on. "Doubt it? I'm an old dragon who has seen many many things, I barely doubt anything these days. Every rumor has a grain of truth regardless." Turning a look to her once more.

"You don't fear of such things that may come from you trying to do such a thing. But I'm no fool...I know this land still clings to what it once was. The ice caverns still exist, the various little oasis spots, the little patches of life here and there. It would be nice to see it green again." A chuckle however, "Though do pirate prefer sand or water?"

"I am aware of what may happen to me if I tried. I think the risk would be worth it."

A slight chuckle.

"Many pirates now would probably prefer the sands. thier ships are more designed for it. but older captains, like my own, and many of the higher pirate lords...remember what it was like to have water. though they were never around during it's real life. they only can real it's last throes before the sands covered it all."

A soft smile

"I have seen the water before the storms. I've seen visions of it, when in meditation. And I would want to see that given back. I want to be able to sail through a storm, rather then forced to port, since sand does not allow the visibility of water. I welcome the rainstorms...but they are few. I wish to see a world that is not choked in sand."
PostPosted: Sun Feb 01, 2009 3:25 pm

"Im sure many a pirate would love to venture to the ocean that the Salt Beds were. It was a beautiful sight to behind, though I admit I only ever saw pictures and heard stories, too young to go to such places." He remembered the water around Ilindal, the docking ships the lush green lining the canals that lead to vast spaces of green and blue. There was still sand then, but pockets of it much like there were only pockets of green left now. "And what a gift we can give to those whom will live on long after us, a world where they no longer have to struggle harder than they need to."

"That is not our gift. the land can be taken away again. Our gift is knowledge. knowledge of this time, and the trials of it, and how to hopefully avoid it's repeat. the world we might give them is only the reward we reap for them."

looking at her glass arm some.

"Knowledge is more important. like myself. had the arts of geomancy died out when the Orb was shattered, I would not have my arm, nor would I probably be alive today to attempt what I would like to when and if the orb is restored to us."
PostPosted: Sun Feb 01, 2009 5:39 pm

"Either way, they get something to look forward to other than just miles of endless sand." Looking to her arm as well as she took her attention there. "Knowledge is something we all cannot do with out and I'm sure some grands things to pass down will come out of all of this." Quieting for a moment. "And you have my permission to do what you would like when the Orb is restored...though it may not be my permission at all that you need."

Gem had the same thoughts he did regarding the young dragonling. Had to be firm with him, though he still didn't understand why they insisted on bringing him along when he really had nothing to contribute to the mission. "I will talk to him and make sure the crew has their eyes on him when he leave. It wouldn't be too difficult to get lost in the graveyard either. If we need you, you'll know." Giving her a final nod, he left the cabin and checked himself for things of potential use, then headed to where the two elves were conversing, interrupting when he thought it fitting. "The compass points to the graveyard ahead. A small group of us will go out and search, both of you included if you wish. Just make sure you don't do anything that will disrupt the landscape or the monuments." Next, off to inform Jae... who he found with Cyvalor in her lap oddly enough. For some reason, he felt the need to clear his throat before tapping her on the shoulder. "Jae. We have to go investigate the graves." Glancing down at the young dragon. "He has to stay."
