Honestly, if we used many other guild's rules on kai, it's ridiculous how easy genjutsu is to beat. That's why there aren't that many genjutsu users out there. :/
Come on you talkin like it takes skill to use Genjutsu!

Kai should be based on rank.
Genin: Rank-C or Lower.
Chuunin: Rank-B or Lower.
Jounin: Rank-A or Lower.
Kounin and up" Rank-S or Lower.

so many ways to break out of it

Well if you can't physically move your body you can't really hurt yourself. Really there's only 3 legitimate ways I think. Pain (If you can use an outside source without moving), Kai (Which is blocked if the caster is the same level here), and Dojutsu (Sharingan HAX).

Kai needs to take the same rank of chakra as it did to start the genjutsu. :/
Sharingan never completely saw through illusions. It can tell you that you're in an illusion, but if you're in RP and you aren't specific enough to notice the details, you're still stuck.
