If we did do the time skip, nothing would really change besides the setting and a few circumstances. There would still be an IS, WAS, and cloaked fellows. however, they would be settled into the new world. The only people who would be the same are the characters that get zapped forward in the time warp. I'm thinking about allowing mass profiles edits too....allow people to make their characters more setting appropriate.

There would be other things, but the main thing is I just wanted a change of scenery. The future doesn't even have to be a big city. Some people say that history repeats. We could say that the distant future still has the forest and enclosed settlement, but major changes take place such as the standing of IS in society...There's a number of ways to go with it if we want it.

The more I thought about this Time Skip idea, the more sense it made. At first I thought it was sort of ridiculous, but now it's... OK. I liked that Willbe was so old in the world, but it would be nice to have an explanation why it was left behind, because it was in the middle of nowhere, right? It would make sense i guess if they were thrust forward, but what a radical change. If you really want to, do it.

I'm not sure what to think of this time skip idea.
While I like how the setting in more so in the past right now, it hasn't affected my character too much. She has only done a few things differently considering the setting and time than she would have if it was set in a more modern time period.
With a blast into the future, it will provide our characters with more challenges and more ways to fight - technology. Now they won't all be fighting merely based on skill, they'll be fighting based on what type of technology they can obtain or create. It's a whole new setting, a whole new world.
I think that it is an interesting concept, and I think it would be cool to move into the future. I'm not sure yet, but it seems like a great way to change up the setting... it would be a huge change though.

The author (me) has been too busy and tired to read the last 5some pages, however, during work I came up with a thought for the time skip. Since it seems like a popular idea among those who frequent this thread, I think it is safe to say we will do it. The question now is: what will happen?

The number of years that pass doesn't have to be much or few. The outside world doesn't have to come in if we don't want it to. Technology could advance or stay the same. There must be a change though, otherwise there isn't a point in time skipping. I have a proposal that addresses one of the concerns about the rp becoming too sci fi-ish if we time skip to a WillBe metropolis.

500 years have passed since the Masquerade Incident. A number of key IS and WAS figures disappeared from the face of the earth. With certain individuals absent for 500 years (the time skip doesn't really matter how long) the cloaked individuals were practically given free reign of willBe and the surrounding area. They blamed the Masquerade Incident on the WAS and the failure to stop the event was pinned on the IS. As punishment, the IS were removed from the position of town protectors and reduced to the level of slaves.

Shortly after, unknown soldiers took to the streets armed with magical weapons (similar to assault rifles but they will fire magical blasts), and the masquerade building and surrounding property flew into the sky to hover in the air many stories over the town. As the years passed, IS slaves converted the town of WillBe into a massive multi-level fortress, and the masquerade building and surrounding property was replaced with a luxurious castle. The town'speople were then oppressed and feeling strangely weak at all times.

The WAS village did not escape the changes that come with time. Fewer attacks were led without competent leadership, and a day came when the mysterious, unknown soldiers took the battle to the WAS village's front steps. It's unknown what became of the WAS and the village as evening attacks no longer occur. It is always rumored that a rebel faction of IS that are free still remain, however, they seem to borrow WAS tactics in that they haven't been seen since the great enslavement. (this rp scenario could be a solution to the scify fear since magic/fantasy is what advances rather than electronics and firearms. Things will keep their fantasy feel while still changing the environment and opening up a new selection of things to do and work with while or inbetween main story elements.)

There are still a few more thoughts I have on this, but I'll give this to you guys to comment and give opinions on. It's a work in progress at the moment and participation in planning is and encouraged. Characters caught in the time skip will be dropped off just outside the WillBe fortress wall.
