Youmu lightly hummed a tune as she swayed back and forth, nudging Nekura a bit as they were coming up on where the Shogun and first lady were, standing up on her tip toes to plant a small kiss on his cheek.
"Mm...Even if we're not the same in the new world...I'll always treasure our time, Nekura."

She held her head for the lightest of moments...thinking to the boy, and then to their destination.

"With my feet planted firmly upon the lands of those who came before, I seek to create a better tomorrow for those who are yet to come..."He had to admit that the talent that he had identified in Youmu when they fought against Belberith, that talent which had inspired him to proclaim her the Silver Sword of the Dusk and a friend to the Shogun, may well have even exceeded what he originally estimated. She was more than just an excellent swordsman, but likely one of the better swordsmen that he had ever laid eyes upon. Certainly if Sera's stories about the Sword Sage Inigo were true then he likely had a case for the title as well, and there was always the rumored 'Greatest Swordsman of his Age' that worked in service to his father before falling in the Bad Future. Nonetheless, whatever other swordsmen were out there that he could compare her with, there was nobody who could say with a straight face that Youmu Konpaku was anything less than formidable. Demons, enemies from other factions, it didn't seem to matter what had come at them while they were out in the field they were little more than fodder before her blade. Eventually, even her boyfriend Nekura had seemed like he was struggling just to keep up with her, and it was a grateful break from carrying the weight of their own civilization here in the capitol that allowed him to avoid damaging his wound or Sera aggravating her arm any further for a little while.
Alas, the partnership and alliance...the so-called 'double date' that Nekura had called it...was soon come to an at least-temporary end. Becoming separated after a while when Koichi and Sera split to investigate a survivor they had saved's story about members of the Assembly of Nihilo trying to take over a sushi place in Ikebukuro. The horde of demons that had moved in the opposite direction was the aim of their allies, and so the two couples went their separate ways with the hopes that they would meet up again before Nekura and Youmu needed to take leave back to Inaba again. ...Sadly, that was exactly what ended up happening, but the sushi place had been salvaged! And two members of the Assembly of Nihilo had agreed to join sides when they learned that the Japanese Government had a settlement at the Palace and were taking in refugees without forcing them to do the twisted things that Hikawa and his followers pushed them into. It was a net gain, even if he didn't feel as though he was making the progress that he wished to. As long as the Reason of Shijima and the Assembly of Nihilo were in their city and opposing them, he thought...Tokyo could never call itself free.
"It's time we went back to the Palace," Koichi thought aloud as he finished off a couple of devils blocking their exit from Russia Sushi, in the heart of Ikebukuro, realizing that the day was getting on and General Okada likely was wondering why they hadn't checked in, "I hope that Youmu and Nekura made it back safe, wherever they are. ...Come on, Sera. "All I wanna do...is see you turn into...a Giant Woman!"He'd had a bit of time to think now, but he hadn't really managed to change his own mind...neither about whether or not he had any use in this apocalypse, nor whether or not he had done all that he could in order to honor Kiyone while he was still here, lingering in this world like the useless b*****d that he was. He wished that he could say that he had done more...he wished that he had been able to protect this world for her, to protect her memory like he had promised her he would...but then, the more that he thought about what the young Shogun had said to him the more that he had to think about whether or not he had been doing the right thing in the first place. Was it...wrong to want to create a new world, really? To restore it to the way that it was, to allow her sacrifice that helped him to reach this point and continue to survive be the fuel which helped him contribute to the world being put back the way it was? Was it...really a betrayal of her sacrifice, of her intention, of her desire that he remember her and what she had done for him if he erased that sacrifice...so that she could live with him again? Would she cry if she knew that he had forgotten...? Even if in doing so he allowed her to live again, to be with him again, and maybe...if there was any decency in him in spite of his lost memory...allow him to do better by her again?

Sera Makushima  It had been nice, having Nekura and Youmu helping. They were strong, and they moved quickly, decimating demons left and right. The pinkette pushed herself to keep the pace, but the fresh wound in her arm would remind her not to stretch too thin with a sting or sharp pain running down to her fingers.
The Daughter of Nyx curled and uncurled her fingers, before turning to her boyfriend, giving him a little smile and a sigh. Those two were unstoppable. More so Youmu, with her swordsmanship that kind of reminded her of certain swordsman she knew about. And it was soon that they split up, letting the others to work on one side of town while Koichi and herself took another.
Sera was rolling her wounded shoulder after the fight, her gaze turning to Koichi as he spoke. She was so ready to get back to the Palace, if she was being honest. They couldn't burn out right now. Not when there was still so much to do. "Yes, let's. We could use some rest." Really, she was more worried about him. He had an eye for spotting such things, and there was nobody in the world who could read Sera Makushima like a book better than her boyfriend, the Prince of Ruin. Still, he didn't say a word to contradict her when she said she was ready to go back, and he didn't pretend like he was going to tough it out and earn her overwhelming ire at refusing to take care of himself as he had nearly done on the 5th Day of this apocalypse when he'd wanted to climb out of bed and help with the whole 'Snake in the City' incident. If he could avoid seeing her that worried, that frustrated, and that ready to sock him in the face for making her feel that worried and frustrated again, he would much rather do that instead of seeing that expression on her beautiful features even one more time. It was too much, really...fortunately, they were of one mind this time on where they were going and just what they were doing.
To the palace. To check on the little piece of preserved Japan that they had managed to salvage in the midst of the end of the world. To speak to the people that they had saved, these strange, talented, decent people who believed in and cared about them...were loyal to them..loved them, even. It was one of the most rewarding feelings in the world to be looked at with such eyes, and he understood now just how his father could be fulfilled by such things...even as the enemy of so many, even as he lost so many things that were important to him in search of this ultimate goal. Together, they were preserving what made them who they were...their very culture, their people, their way of life! Those were the thoughts that lingered in Koichi's mind as they continued back through the city towards the Capitol, the Palace in the distance filling him with a small sense of pride that lingered strong and wonderful somewhere inside of his heart. He glanced over at Sera as they drew closer, and he thought to himself in that moment, against all odds, they had made it this far together...they had never lost one another, never been separated...through time, space, and the end of two worlds...somehow, they had been brought together and stayed that way.
Little in the world could make Koichi wonder...make him feel plain lucky instead of feeling as though through planning and skill they had made their own luck...but having met Sera...still being with Sera...after all this, made him feel like the luckiest man in Japan.
...His hand found hers as their neared the gate, and he took it within his own, squeezing it gently. He watched her in that one, lingering moment with a renewed awe...and a reflection of the deep love that he had come to develop for her. For her fiery spirit...her unwavering strength...the inherent goodness and mischief that made her so unique among all the people he had ever known. She was his. And he was hers. And this...

Sera Makushima Sera turned to look back at her boyfriend when she felt his hand on hers, and smiled. He was looking at her with a look that she could read all too well, and her feelings were the same for him. There were no words explaining what she felt for the Prince of Ruin. They had connected ever since he had found her, almost half-dead, back in that deserted land that was the Corrupted Future. They had been about to give up, believing that the underground city had been only a myth, and that they would die there, with the group that returned to the past as the only hope for their world. But he had come...almost like a prince in shining armor, and he had saved them from that fate. He had brought them to the city...and then and there...she had decided he was the one she wanted to be with. Days turned into months...and that feeling hadn't been wrong. Koichi was... the kindest person she knew...he was fun and gentle...and he could be serious and quiet during times were things were difficult. She loved him, perhaps even more during those times. She wanted to be there for him...remind him that not everything was plans and calculating risks. And he was there to keep her grounded, to remind her that despite her temper and her occasional recklessness...she was good. She...loved him. She would always love him.
