Eli put his hands up in shock as she got close to him. The back of his hands pressed against his own chest, ensuring he didn't accidentally touch any of her lady parts, and taking small steps back to regain some of his bubble.

"I-I-I know what you mean." The magnetokinetic stated, the nervousness in his voice was clear as it overcame the disappointment. The only place he really felt he belonged was in solitude, with his experiments. Where he could get lost in his favorite things of life, and no one in the world would be able to bother him.

Eli's eyebrow raised slightly, "Fluffy and white... like, an animal?" He asked the confusion in his voice stronger. "Are you like the animorphs I read about in books when I was young?" He pondered, but then quickly realized how stupid of a question that was. Look where he was, of course she had to obviously be some kind of shape shifter.

"And of course I drink, the sensation that alcohol provides me, it is entertaining and is so euphoric, I feel like I can do anything. I guess they call it liquid courage in the movies for a reason..." He said, his voice low and trailing, but still loud enough for her to hear. "And as for dancing, It was once, at some little get together after I first got here." The Magnetikinetic recollected, dancing with Thorne so long ago.

"So why don't you feel like you belong?" Eli asked dryly. His anxiety slowly beginning to rise and gaining slight presence in his voice.

Katarina tilted her head when he raised his hands, gunmetal blue eyes curious. She slid forward and reached up, placing her right hand against his left, palm to palm, as if they were doing a very formal old dance. “I’m not going to hurt you.”

Yet.

The telepaths in this place would have her hide if they even caught a breath of her causing injury to their precious youth. Though in this case, the boy seemed like such a spazz. She wondered what could make someone so…Jittery. So seemingly anxious. His stuttered words made her want to…Eat him alive, to be honest. But she remained on her best behavior. There were witnesses, not far away.

He asked if she was like one of the ridiculous humans in a book he’d read, and she chuckled softly, letting her form trail around his, brushing up against him softly—Almost like a cat would circle around a human’s legs. Seemingly adorable, but truly seeking to cause their owners to trip down the stairs. “Exactly like an animal.”

“More or less, I could be like one of these…Animorphs.”
, Kat repeated the word, her nose wrinkling at the odd sound it made. She wasn’t quite sure what it meant…But from the context clues around his sentence, she assumed that it was something equivalent to a shifter.

She frowned at the generic reason he gave her for drinking. “That’s why everyone drinks.”

“Wouldn’t it be easier to find your own courage, instead of requiring a crutch?”
, it bothered the shape shifter, to see people dependant on other things…Cigarettes, vices…They should simply be strong enough to deny them. She stopped walking about him when he asked his next question, seeming content to repeatedly invade his personal space.

“It isn’t that I feel I don’t belong. I know I don’t. I’m not from…This area. Your people, don’t like my people.”, the dark haired woman explained, without really explaining anything at all. She was good at avoiding, when it became necessary. Lies were easier to keep, when they were simple.

She returned back to the original topic at hand, subtly turning the conversation from herself to him. It was safer. “Do you have two left feet? Hating the people around here… I can’t disagree. Drinking to get away from them… I can’t say I wouldn’t join you. But you really should give dancing another try.”

Kat paused, smiling as she leaned forward, kind…But not without a devilish quality.“It can be…Therapeutic.”

"And you really seem like a boy that should learn how to...Relax."

Gabriel Byrne
Location: Prom
Thoughts: Meeting new people. Great. Where's my PDA when I need it?

User ImageIn a matter of seconds, he'd already been spoken to by three completely different people. The first was a ghostly voice of a woman, who he had to guess was a sound manipulator in mutation. She said he was a part of her team, so by that logic he made the stretch to think that this was his team leader Isabella speaking to him. Mr. Summers had been so kind as to make that fact clear to him before he left for the prom that evening. Along with compliment him on his choice of attire. Gabriel returned the compliment, but in his mind he was shrugging his shoulders. It was a suit, what other compliments were needed? Simple enough, it was meant for formal attire, and this was a formal event. Regardless, he was then gestured by who appeared to be Bella's friend. He lifted a glass to him in response.

"Gabriel Byrne, but I guess I go by Siege on the team. Pleasure." he stated to him.

He took a sip of his drink when he was addressed as "Sir Fumbles" and introduce himself as Marcel. Guy seemed to be sociable enough, he was pleasant enough to invite him to join his friend (Jacen) as a way to help stem their boredom.

"I'm less bored than nervous. Not one for big crowds." he replied in a polite manner. Frankly, he was wishing that he was in his workshop, or at least he had his PDA on hand. That would likely help to handle his social anxiety a bit, but he knew that his brother would have slapped him upside the head if he had that thing out. So he fought the urge to head back to grab it, and try to make the best of the night.

So rather than join Marcel and go for something comfortable, he decided to be adventurous. He made his way over to a group of people that appeared to be in the midst of a conversation. A rather short blonde (Narcissa) and her tall dark haired date (Felix), were conversing with what appeared to be a Native American (Aren) and his date, a rather pleasant brunette (Raine). The Native American (Aren) raised his glass in a toast, which if Gabriel's ears were correct in discerning, reeked of sarcasm. Clearly this conversation was either raunchy, or getting hostile. He decided not to intervene or add his input. No sense in getting himself involved in the matters of others. Besides, he just showed up. He didn't want to make a bad first impression.

And then the sweet bells of irony rang in his head as he tripped over a series of wires. Luckily, the direction he was falling had no one directly in his path. So when his drink came out of his hand, it didn't spill on anyone. But the fact remained, he was on the verge of face-planting in front of a group of people. So rather than make himself look like a complete idiot, he did what he was taught to do. He curled himself into a ball, and rolled forward. The floor was clean, so his suit didn't have anything dirt to track on it as he quickly stood back up from the successful roll.

He let out the biggest nervous-fueled smile he could as he attempted to collect himself, "Totally meant to do that. Glad no one was in the way." he let out a nervous chuckle as he then added, "I'm gonna go clean that up now."

Great first night, just wonderful. Perhaps he should have brought his gun. So he could shoot himself.

"Are you lost in your lies?
Do you tell yourself, 'I don't realize.'
Your crusade's a disguise.
Replaced freedom with fear,
You trade money for lives.
I'm aware of what you've done."

▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀

Felix grinned as Cissa mentioned him being her wingman and liking it. "Well it looks like I have little choice in the matter so, I shall concede for now. Later perhaps I will fight back if it doesn't seem like much fun after all." Somehow Felix doubted it would ever be dull enough where he would need to fight back against being her 'wingman'. This was the Omega Leader they were talking about. He sincerely doubted she had ever had a boring day since the time she could walk and talk. Especially not since she learned how to use her looks to get people to do what she wanted. No the evening would likely be quite amusing.

As they arrived at their destination and him and Aren began going back and forth the speedster couldn't help, but smile at the Native's comments. "While you are correct that they did do mating out of instinct. Whoever said they were good at it? There simply wasn't someone like me around to compare them to. Unfortunately for you, that luxury is no longer available. No worries though. I will be sure to not steal all the ladies away from you." The comment was sure to amuse the size shifter. At the comment of getting a notebook Felix inclined his head in an amused manner. Unfortunately the light banter didn't last long as the girls intensified in their conversation towards each other.

As Raine mentioned getting the date she wanted Felix became well aware that she was sending a jab towards him, and given the atmosphere that also meant she was angry with him and it wasn't all in good fun. Even though he was aware of that the comment still stung him deep down. He had stated that had Aren not asked her he probably would have. So to hear her trying to hurt him for apparently his choice of a date stung. It also reminded him very much so of how she claimed Cissa was. It was something Cissa was currently doing to Aren for bringing Raine. So for someone that was supposedly so different, she was reminding him of his leader an awful lot. Did she think so little of him to think he would abandon his old friends just because he had brought Cissa to prom? Maybe they never really knew each other. "We all do seem to be highly satisfied with our choice of dates." And yes he was looking at Raine the entire time with a fake smile.

When the subject turned to the girls' choice of attire for the evening, Aren responded quite diplomatically only for Cissa to recommend an eye exam. The woman responded to Felix first and the speedster nodded his head lightly. His expression being one of amusement at her comments towards the size shifter. "His eyes are fine Cissa. If anything it would be his judgment that needed to be examined." While it may have sounded like it at first Felix wasn't agreeing with Cissa. He was simply stating what he figured as fact. If asked directly he would admit that Raine looked good as well. Even if he wasn't happy with her at the moment.

Then Felix would have mused about how his life was giant case of bad judgment, but how well the people present would have got it he didn't know. How much did they really know about him? He had just met Aren what seemed like a few hours ago which in reality had been longer. Raine was a friend, but discussing pasts in depth had never really came up. Not in detail at least. And Cissa was the one that had the potential to know the most and yet, what was in his file? Felix didn't ask for any of it to be secret, but Scott had struck him as the type that might have blacked out most of it just to give him the option of telling. Therefore he wouldn't be going down that line of conversation if it could be avoided.

Aren in usual fashion it seemed was able to deliver a comment that amused Felix enough to smile and forget about his previous train of thought. "You wound me my red friend. Besides didn't you know I am three quarters African American?" The grin would show that he was joking as if his skin tone didn't show it. "Besides I maintain that my ideas are better by default. I just hope you haven't heard some of my ideas and already tried to claim them as your own."

Aren proceeded to take Cissa down memory lane for some reason that completely passed over Felix's head. As the topic turned to the potential youtube video that might have been posted up if only the ladies got drunk, Cissa showed off her surprising knowledge of the technical. Turning to the blond with a raised eyebrow it would suffice to say that Felix was very surprised. While he didn't think the blond some brainless dime a dozen typical blond, he didn't thing her knowledgeable in such things. "Well I guess I know who to go to if I need to put up a youtube video of the embarrassing nature." Musing to himself, Felix proceeded to procure himself another drink that he held in his hand lazily.

Cissa returned his amused question back on him and giving Cissa the once over as if contemplating the idea Felix shrugged. "Perhaps you should be. I can be pretty suave and smooth when I want to be." Giving her a mock look of mystery Raine then decided to pour further flames on the fire and Felix winced internally. Cissa was quick to retaliate and as Aren spoke up diplomatically as well Felix smiled sweetly towards Raine. "I dunno it sounds rather like she might want to be taken advantage of my red friend." Was that a low blow? Yes. Did Felix particularly care at the moment? Not really. She made it clear on what she thought about him. Were they ever really friends? Felix would apologize later, but for now he was riding his wave of anger. Clearly she never wanted to go with him anyway so why should it matter who he took?

As Aren toasted to them Felix raised his glass in mock enthusiasm. "Oh yes to having a night to remember. Granted some of us might not remember tonight. I will be sure to fill in the blanks for any that need it." Smirking and taking a rather long sip from his glass a glance to a man falling caused him to actually laugh out loud. Clearly he was laughing at the man and not with him. "Oh look another bright young mutant recruit to the cause. Another point for mutant kind. Granted he could be a human." Felix smirked the entire statement absolutely oozing with sarcasm. At least the man had provided an amusing distraction.

Um… How Exactly Did This Happen?

Thomas made the quip that it wasn’t his choice that Tara was replacing Leo with Thomas. “Oh really now?” asked Leo in a joking tone, looking to Tara. “So you are that forceful. I should have known something was up when you asked me to prom in such a way that I felt I was stuck in between a rock and a hard place,” he mused, cracking a smile at her. Tara did in fact have an aggressive personality. Not aggressive in the way that Narcissa was aggressive, but outgoing nonetheless. It was kind of needed in their line of work – the submissive type didn’t work under fire.

Aurelie stated that she wasn’t here for him, which Leo knew instinctively, but that didn’t mean it made his heart sink a little bit. That, and with the fact that she had been with someone before all of this… he wished slightly the punch was spiked. Ugh… whatever. He was here to have a good time – why waste it on a slight crush? “I understand. Don’t wanna spoil that good reputation, right?” asked Leo jokingly, taking a sip of punch. Aurelie’s reputation was good from what he had heard around the Academy… the only downside was the fact she had been in a mall holding cell recently. But then again, that was Leo’s fault… right?

Tara answered Leo’s question about what to do next with much enthusiasm, and for a moment Leo thought that Tara was the most conceited person at Prom other than Narcissa… but pulled a 180 and asked Aurelie to dance. Why did girls always do that? Dance with other girls? Leo could never understand it… and he probably never will. But there she went… his date, going off with yet another person. And not just anyone, but his crush. In the world of Dawson’s Creek this would make for an interesting episode, but Leo knew it was all just play. Weird play… but it was all fake.

Lillian made the promise that she would keep Leo’s offer of a favor handy… like it was a one-shot pistol, and she could only use it once. The prospect of what she could ask for made Leo shudder slightly. She had close ties with the Sun Queen… hopefully she hadn’t rubbed off on her. Maybe he would have to force her hand eventually, save her life on an upcoming mission. Then they would be even.

Hopefully.

And then Lillian was away… and then it was suddenly just Thomas and Leo, standing there at the snack table, looking like a couple of idiots. The animal mimic raised an eyebrow over at the newer Alpha, with a look on his face that conveyed, How in the world did that just happen? So there they were the two of them, dateless and by the snack table. Looking over to the new Alpha, he decided to make some small talk. After all, he needed to know everyone on the team, right?

“Um… Thomas, right?” asked Leo. He heard the name mentioned several times around the Academy, and only fewer times had the name go with a face.

OMEGA:Things need to go back to normal!

User Image
Gideon walked over to Isabella and the man standing with her that he didn't know at the time was Blake, it had been a few years since the man had been around the institute. As he did he knew it wasn't going to be some cliched movie scene where she would see him and run to his arms even if he would of gladly preferred that. He didn't know what was all going on with Bella and that was bothering him more then anything. Even his run in with Kat earlier in the evening. Really he was always the one she ran to for anything, for someone to talk to or for comfort, a great many things. Granted they had been dating for several years now. They had relied on each other even more when their close friends had left the academy. For over a month now he had been feeling alone.

After reaching the pair he hadn't missed the apprehensive look and tense posture of Bella. Though for the briefest of moments he thought he saw the twinkle in her eye, the one she got when she saw him in nicer clothes as he was in tonight but any sign of it was gone as fast as it had appeared. He didn't let the hurt he felt show outwardly. He continued on as if there were no troubles between them. She turned down his offer to dance, if he hadn't had training in hiding his feelings one would of thought he had been physically struck. Nevermind the feeling he got from her as he called her his queen.

Even if he didn't get all that was in her head right now he still did know the girl extremely well. And she did show some signs of being physically ill. "Maybe your friend here should take over your chaparone duties and let me take you home so you can get some rest." Gideon just wanted a chance a moment to actually talk to her to find out what was really going on between them. He was trying really really hard to ignore how she shyied away from him and closer to the other guy. His theory about her not wanting him around anymore was looking more and more likely as the seconds passed. And Kat's words about him not belonging anymore then she did rang in his ears.

She moved farther away from him as he asked her for a walk instead. Not only did she move away she tucked herself farther in this other guys jacket to shield herself. He could feel her edging toward flight as was he reaction anytime he had been near her. It was taking him to keep his cool. Kat earlier had drained his will considerably, luckily being around Bella always gave him more. Though given the situation it wasn't likely to last. He knew even then he could never hurt her physically. Part of him knew if he said how he felt and what he believed would hurt her.

"Well you had said you weren't feeling well earlier so naturally it would feel a bit cooler then normal." He mentioned since the two had been out together in cooler weather then it was currently. But she had always claimed to feel nice and warm tucked into his side with his arm around her. He hoped she would just agree to finally go somewhere to talk in private the conversation they were to have personally should only be for their ears.

"You probably shouldn't be drinking that given your already not feeling well. Forget your already low tolerance to the stuff." Gideon said as he saw her take a gulp from her cup that was clearly the spiked punch. One didn't even need a hightened sense of smell to detect that he was certain of it. But that must not be the case since it hadn't been removed since the majority of those in attendence were under age.

Oh course Bella quickly changed the subject to introducing her male escourt. There had been a familiar scent in the air he couldn't quite place. And now he knew why it was Blake and she was completely covered in his scent even minus the jacket he was sure. And now Gideon had more of an idea of why she had tossed she had tossed him aside like garbage. "Yes I remember you Blake. We hung out a few times mutually with the lovely Bella here." Gideon shook Blake's hand making a consious effort to not show any ill will to the man by squeezing his hand to firmly or anything also while flashing a smile of his own. Oh Gideon was certain it wasn't going to be very pleasurable in this man's company. "Oh? I hope she didn't paint me on some kind of pedistle or anything. But yes sadly I had some unfortunate buisness to attend to before I could make it." Gideon said. While it was true he did have buisness attended to earlier no matter how unwanted it was, Blake didn't need to know that he hadn't been sure on showing up. But given how things had been between him and the girl that heald his heart who could blame him.

Gideon's mouth barely moved as he spoke in the secretive way they had developed over their relationship, asking if she would use her powers to block out the things around them also so they could keep their talk between them. It was so natural between them it got to the point even a professional lip reader wouldn't be able to figure out what was said with any ease.

"Thanks Blake for keeping her company while I couldn't be here. I am sure you would like to get out there and find a nice girl to dance with." He said normally to Blake.

Zombies are so much easier to deal with than Prom dresses...
¨°o.O O.o°¨

“Home sweet home.”

Cammi looked up at the Xavier Institute, admiring the building she called home, and wondering why on earth it was so quiet.

That should have been the first clue to get out of dodge…

As her father lugged a suitcase up the steps and toward Cammi, he smiled, patting her on the shoulder.
“Welcome home hunny. Its been lonely without you around. Your mother and sister I’m sure will be happy to see you.”

The blond nodded. While her mini vacation with family in Western New York had been fun, she had missed her friends and family. Not to mention she was itching to get her hands on her own game counsels so that she could play some online co op. Shooting zombies, what a perfect way to end the evening..

Trapseing up the stairs, Cammi looked around. The place seemed almost empty…where was everyone? Rounding a corner, the mutant was met with a woman bounding down the hallway, arms outstretched, a grin on her face. Rolling her eyes as her mother embraced her, Cammi hugged her back. “Hi Mom. I was only gone for a little while ya know. Its not like I left the state.”

“Oh I know sweetie. But we’ve missed you so much. Your sister is out at a friend’s house right now. And I have a surprise for you!”

Second clue to run away; her mother had a surprise for her.

Making a face Cammi sighed “Can’t I just got to my room and play video games for a bit? I’m tired. The bus ride was long and bumpy…”

“Oh it will only take a second. Besides, everyone else has gone and you should too.”

While she was being dragged down to her parents bedroom, Cammi’s father threw the suitcases and backpacks into her room, then followed suit. And when Cammi entered her parent’s room, she wished she had run away…

Hanging on a closet door was a maroon dress with an orange skirt underneath that poked out from the bottom and from a little opening in the front of the dress. Along the waist were beads of reds and oranges, and the whole thing was strapless. On the vanity near the window lay a curling iron, and several jars of tubes and makeup. The mutant spun around on her parents, eyeing them suspiciously. “Whats this?” she asked.

“Oh sweetie, its Prom! At the University! You were away so I picked out this dress for you. I thought it would go well with your hair…”

Stepping outside the door and closing it behind him, Cammi’s father, James Grant, stood outside his bed room as his wife and daughter duked it out over Camilla going to the Prom. The argument lasted about twenty minutes before he was called back in to see his daughter dressed in the gown and sitting at the vanity while Stephanie (Cammi’s mom) did her hair.

Thirty Minutes Later…

Cammi stepped out of the car with her fathers help. Her mother had bade her farewell on the steps of the Institute. Grumbling, Cammi smoothed out her dress and made sure her heels were on correctly. The last thing she needed was to fall flat on her face. “Do I really have to be here Dad? Why can’t I just sit at home and play games. I have two right feet…”

James smiled and kissed Cammi on her forehead.
“You look lovely hunny. Your mother just wants you to have a good time., experience things a normal person your age should. She also thinks you spend too much time in front of the TV.”

Cammi scowled at the thought. Too much time in front of the TV? Impossible.

Seeing his daughters dismay, and being an avid fan of games himself, James smiled and flashed a twenty dollar bill in front of the girl’s face.
“If you promise not to run away after I leave, and you promise to try and have a good time, I’ll buy you a new game.”

Dollar signs lit up Cam’s eyes. “Or a DVD or manga?”

The man laughed “Yes, or one of those.”

Cammi nodded and hugged her father. “Even if you weren’t bribing me I would still try to have a good time. I love you Daddy.”

“I love you too. Now go have fun.”

As the car pulled away with her father in it, and dreams of new toys swimming in her head, Cammi marched into the University where the Prom was being held. As soon as she walked in, her eyes swept the room and she had trouble focusing on anyone in particular because there were so many people there. Cam noticed Aren and Cissa, Felix, and, well, almost everyone from the Institute.

Eyeing the spaces around the room, there was no real good place to go and hide. But she notice a snack table, and she was feeling a bit peckish….

“Oh! Its Thomas!”

Hiking up her skirts and making her way around dancing people and people standing in groups chatting, Cammi hit the snack table, almost leaping at Thomas and in the process not even getting a good view of who he was speaking with. “Thomas!” she exclaimed, excited that she found someone she knew readily. “You look handsome this evening. Did you miss me?” she vaguely wondered if anyone missed her…other than her parents.

Thomas nodded in reply to Leo on their mutual joking concerning Tara being forceful. " 'Fraid so." The man turned to Tara for the rest of his little joke and Thomas laughed appreciatively. Especially when Tara replied. Did he really like it? Well he didn't dislike it. That was something wasn't it? "That is very true Tara. There are worse things. Also you should have seen the last boy she 'asked out' to something. Talk about being between a rock and a hard place. I couldn't stop laughing for a week at the poor guy's reaction." Sharing one of the likely many stories he had about the geokinetic with Leo using air quotes and everything, Thomas smiled at Tara. "I am sure you remember." Not everybody could handle Tara's personality and Thomas was just thankful he was one of the people who actually could.

Listening to the others converse was quite amusing. It seemed everyone present had a wicked sense of humor, that was a sure sign prom was going to be fun. Then again a glance around the room said that prom wasn't being fun for everyone. It seemed his chaperoning wasn't needed anywhere just yet though. As Lillian asked if anyone else wanted some punch Thomas shook his head no. "I am quite fine thank you for the offer though." Smiling at the power mimic Thomas was sure the punch was spiked by now. It was just one of the hazards of being an x-man at prom. Or anybody at any prom really. It seemed to be a common incident across all proms and Thomas had never really done well with liquor. Even with his natural healing he had an extremely low tolerance for the stuff.

Giving Aurelie the usual polite smile as the blond turned towards him he afforded her his attention. Tara seemed busy with her date for the time being after all. As she mentioned being surprised to not see him, Thomas gave a light sigh. It wasn't something Thomas was proud of not doing, but like she said, being prodded with a needle did not put him in a good mood. Not to mention how exhausted he stayed because of the sheer volume of blood they took from him. "Yeah sorry about that. I tried to stop by a few times, but it seemed like every time I arrived in good enough spirits to actually talk, you were asleep. The needles didn't help for sure. You probably had some of my blood pumping through your veins though. Does that make up for my absence?" Naturally he wasn't too worried about Aurelie being mad at him but, the question still needed asked.

As Aurelie mentioned him getting two dates for the price of one Thomas nodded. Then Aurelie offered him up as a dance partner and Thomas internally sighed. Dancing didn't sound too pleasing. He would if Lillian wanted to so as to not be rude, but he wasn't too anxious. Why Aurelie didn't offer herself up was well known to him, still he might as well encourage her to do the same. Before a word could be gotten in edgewise though Lillian was speaking up. Clearly the girl was going to be a fun one to be around. Holding up his hands in a mock defensive way Thomas smiled at the two women. "No worries now, I like Aurelie here, do not go for taken girls." The smile that accompanied it was pleasant. "Besides while you would likely be the perfect dancing partner Lillian, I have as they say two left feet. I would stomp all over your toes before we even really started."

Before long Tara was marching over and asking Aurelie to dance. Lillian took that opportunity to go grab another date obviously starting a little girls only dance. To say he was relieved was an understatement. "Well if she doesn't want to dance Tara you can join the others it would seem. Bright side and all. I will be sure to play the good little chaperone and keep our blond friend here company. Though really Aurelie you should go strut your stuff if it strikes you fancy." Of course Thomas knew the blond wouldn't be getting on the dance floor anytime soon. Even to be polite. He still wanted to encourage her to do so in an attempt to help her out. Though memories of the last time somebody urged her to do something made Thomas second guess encouraging her too hard. He could still remember her slamming the lid to the keys on a piano on her hand just to have a reason not to play. A little extreme, but it showed how adamantly she was against doing things she was uncomfortable doing.

Leo spoke to him and Thomas turned towards the man with a smile and nod of his head. Holding out his hand to shake in a more formal manner Thomas smiled at him. "Yes Thomas is the name, Healing is the game. It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance uh I didn't catch your name." If the others had said it then it was definitely escaping the healer's mind. After the introductions were out of the way Thomas let his hand fall back to his side. Catching sight of Cammi out of the corner of his eyes he was caught very off guard by her appearance. Wasn't she on vacation still? Wait was today when she got back? What was today? "Cammi?" He was pleased to see his very old friend again. Truthfully he hadn't stopped smiling since she had exclaimed his name.

As she proceeded to compliment him Thomas looked her over as well. "And you look exceptionally beautiful as well Cammi. I dunno did you miss me while you were gone?" One could never look too needy right? Thomas smiled at his silent musings. "Yes though I did miss you. While you were away I accepted a spot on the Alphas. Clearly you should have talked me out of it." Of course Thomas was completely joking with the last bit. He didn't regret his decision at all and it was just his way of bringing Cammi up to speed. Wait did he let Aurelie know that as well? He needed to mentally keep track of who he had told and who he hadn't told yet.

I will now rise from the ashes.
Don't call me pretentious.
I'm sitting here making my own rules.
And if I fall from the ceiling.
You'll be down there waiting.
And my only hope. Is falling down.

User ImageOh trust me...” Her sister kept saying if the X-men didn't work out, she'd easily assign her as a model for the magazine. Not that the telekinetic believed it for a second. Trying on clothes and letting pictures be taken of her... didn't sound like that rewarding of a job. Well, except for the free clothes and accessories. The job did have a few nice perks.

Lillian cackled and asked if she worried about her sanity, which elicited an eager nod from the telekinetic. “Definitely, Lils.” Mad scientist or not, the precision that she'd maniacally laughed was just a little too perfect to be healthy.

* *

Once more, Aurelie made sure that Lillian would hold to her end of the bargain – no dancing. “I'd be alright with that.” She agreed, tossing a curtain of shimmering blond hair over her shoulder. But the chances of the telekinetic busting a move were far more slim than a time jump to the dark ages.

A smile quirked at the telekinetic's lips when Tara chided the boys teasingly, stating that there were worse things than girls wanting to be seen in public with them. The point was valid, given that both men tended to be easy on the eyes, though one of her hands raised to half-way cover her mouth so they wouldn't notice her amusement as easily.

For Lillian's sake, she pretended to be off-balance when she bumped her with her hip. “I can bray like the best of them.” Aurelie said, grinning in response to being called a stubborn mule. Had she not cared about hurting Lillian's feelings, she would still be firmly planted in her room, insisting that a night in was just what she'd needed.

And had she stayed in, Leo wouldn't have been the butt of everyone's jokes, considering the group misinterpreted his surprise at her presence for something far deeper. If her former Omega friend was attempting to make her nervous about the whole scenario, the telekinetic would have been sad to say it was working. The whisper in her ear forced her to reconsider – but as she tilted her head, appraising Leo and his date... she fell back on her initial idea.

Up until tonight, they'd not even spoken since the incident at the mall... Surely if there was more behind this, they'd have been seeing each other a little more often. And she would know about this, right?

That Leo said Tara had done the asking to prom was surprising, but the way he teased made the telekinetic think there was something more going on between them. “Sure... a pretty girl practically twisted your arm to get you to come.” She remarked, winking in the process.

But Thomas only re-emphasized that point – reminiscing about the last boy she'd forced to do something with her. “This sounds like a good story...” She said, hoping that some day soon he'd elaborate on it.

If the animal mimic was disappointed with her declaration that she'd not come for him, she'd missed any indication. Instead, she smiled when he said that he understood, tucking a lock of hair behind her ear. “Definitely not.” The woman agreed, not knowing at all what the dark haired man was contemplating. “I certainly wouldn't want someone to steal a date from me.” So, for tonight... Leo was safe from any advances on her part. Though, the way Tara clung to him indicated he'd be safe for quite a time after tonight had passed.

Leonardo thanked her “date” for the efforts it'd taken to drag her there, and Aurelie scrunched her face toward her nose in response – both to Leo's remark, and the one that followed from Lillian. “You've never seen my parents.” She said, completely deadpan. “Sometimes, I think it's a very good thing that the Amish community does not approve of any sort of portraits.” Maybe making her parents out to look like Bigfoot wasn't very mature... but she'd decided a long time ago that it didn't matter, and that she had the right to make jokes at their expense on occasion. They'd dumped her. Not the other way around.

The situation at hand was too amusing for Aurelie to be distracted with the past for long – Tara and Lillian deciding that Leo's figure of speech had been an offer for something in the future. ”Careful Leo, I think Lillian is going to think you her personal genie.” Aurelie quipped, only imagining the sort of thing that the brunette would ask for.

It was then that Aurelie focused more attention on her old phoenix-like friend, sliding out easily that he'd acquired to lovely women for the night. “No Lils, I'm afraid I'm not enough date for you.” Grinning, she latched onto Thomas. “You're so full of life, I think we need a third.

Dismissively, she waved off Thomas' apology for his not seeing her while she was infirmed. “At least you tried.” She had been sleeping a lot – mostly from the drugs that they kept pumping through her Ivs. “And I thank you for your donations, but I will require more of your time in the future.” Turning to Leo, she flashed a devious grin. “And certainly more from you as well.” Masking any teasing expression with a beautiful pout, she continued. “Considering you've made yourself so scarce this past month, I was beginning to think you didn't like me.” If only she knew how completely untrue that was...

She offered him up to dance with Lillian – a note that he didn't take as kindly as she expected. “ I suppose we'll let you off the hook this time.” She teased, shaking her head when he stated she should get out there. “You know I won't.” Aurelie said quietly, still holding onto a small smile as she forgot the rest of the people for a second. Her mind fell back on when she'd told him everything, needing to vent her disappointment to someone. Thomas had a mindful ear when all she needed was for someone to listen. Whether or not any of the others caught their conversation was beyond her for the time being.

Of the group, he'd understand better than anyone why the former dancer refrained from moving to the beat. “Though, I finally did decide to sit at a piano again... My first performance went to animal man here, but I'd be happy to practice with you sometime soon.

The mimic's date seemed to find the most interesting way of twisting what he said to suit her – but he took it well, offering to stroll with her across the dance floor. With that, she decided it had been a good thing he'd chosen to go with the geokinetic. At least she wouldn't freeze at the opportunity to move to the music. She laughed outright at his response, just about to say that Tara's confidence in herself was charming, when she spun around and appeared in front of Aurelie. “What, oh, I'm sure I'm not the hottest girl here.” The telekinetic said sheepishly.

She looked at the extended hand for a second, her blue eyes more revealing than they ought to have been. A part of her wanted to just let go, move on from the wreckage of her dreams. Another part of her remained a bit too bitter to make that choice easy. Dancing at prom wasn't the same as ballet... She reasoned, attempting not to look like a spoilsport. But this was precisely why she'd not wanted to attend the event of the evening. Stealing another glance out to the floor, Aurelie shook her head.

But Lillian decided to step in then, stating she'd get the first dance out of her, should she decide to accept. “Maybe later.” Motioning towards Thomas, she smiled. “Considering his hesitance to get out there, I want to keep him company. Catch up, you know?

Her “date” for the evening seemed brave enough to try the punch; Leo had been drinking it, which only made Aurelie believe that no one had managed to mix in some liquor yet. “I'll take one.” She said, telekinetically procuring a glass for herself. The concoction poured over her tongue just as Lillian declared it to have already been spiked. The girl shotgunned it to avoid the taste, and former dancer sighed. “They could have at least made it a bit smoother.

On a sudden impulse, Lillian declared the next dance to be only for the ladies and ducked out to snag Kerri. With the pressure gone, Aurelie's shoulders relaxed, and she tried another sip of the liquid in her cup. “Wait... did she call...” She paused, her mouth forming the word with uncertainty. ”A 'dingus?' Wow...” Laughing then, blue eyes shifted back to the guys that had been left in the dust. “Sorry Roland, she's a little high strung tonight.

Shrugging, she took a few steps back to the guys... narrowly escaping being dragged onto the dance floor completely. When or if she ever danced again, it would be without an audience, the activity holding far more meaning to her than it would to most.

Sapphire eyes lit up like gems sparkling in sunlight as she caught sight of Cammi. “Nice to see you made it back to campus in one piece.” She said, placing her empty cup on the side of the table. Jokingly, she shoved Thomas in the shoulder. “Don't mind him... he loves being an alpha because he gets to be around hot girls like Lillian and Tara.

Pausing, she tilted her head. “Are you here to stay, or...?” She let the question linger, expecting the girl to fill in the gaps.

Location: Nerd Heaven (Forge’s lab)
Thoughts: Yay, new dress.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Were Orchid any other female, she likely would have been upset at the amount her dress was taking as a result of all the fun things happening in Forge’s lab. First there was the explosion, of which the smoke would undoubtedly sully the beautiful fabrics she’d used. Then there was all the water from the emergency sprinklers inside the lab. Naturally, her night was ruined, right? She did not think so. The girl took it about the same way she took most things, with a simple shrug. ”Well, that’s it for this dress then,” she said rather matter-of-factly with a light chuckle. ”No worries. I have like eight more backup dresses I can use, and I’m deadly quick in the make-up department; just ask Farren.” She did not tend to sweat the typical girl things like so many girls her age often did. Hell, she could have her hair taken care of literally in the blink of an eye; what other girl in the world could make that claim?

The only thing better might be if she was a general shapeshifter; though, frankly, she felt she was perfect as is.

”True that,” she responded with a chuckle to Farren’s quip about Forge not needing robots to test bombs on. While she had no personal issues with the Alphas, she had absolutely no trouble laughing at their expense in the slightest. And she would not have minded if certain members of her own team suddenly found themselves in more than one place due to stupidly triggered landmine or grenade that may or may not find itself within their fate. Roland, for instance, she would not exactly mourn. As a proponent of evolution and natural selection, it’s only natural she be in favor of getting rid of all the stupid people so others don’t have to unfortunately inherit their traits. Why not give evolution a jumpstart, beginning with humans and stupid Alphas?

”Always an excuse,” she said rather smugly to Farren in response to Forge’s initial defense, backing the floramancer in her quip. She wasn’t really pointing any fingers, but she did not mind teasing the Cheyenne one bit. ”Ya know, I’m pretty sure Hindenburg wasn’t supposed to happen either, but lo and behold…” She made a motion with her hands as imitating a mushroom cloud, accompanying it with a silent explosion sound effect from her lips. ”You might wanna keep that in mind when you’re doing your Doctor Steel thing down here with several metric s**t tons of children not more than a floor above.” If there was any preaching in her tone it was purely in a mocking way. The last thing in the world she cared about was school safety. Frankly, this place could use a few more explosions from time to time; yes, more than it already tended to get.

Orchid raised her brow in sync with Farren upon hearing Forge’s next words. So wait, he actually had tried to blow up his own lab before? Here the Latina was only joking when she implied Forge was doing anything of the sort; was she more prophet than comedienne? ”Youch. Must be a helluva rock if it can do all that. I could use one of those to mess with the geeks who keep trying to bug our room.” The first few times were flattering, but by the next eight or so they were starting to get annoying. She motioned her hand toward Farren, as if introducing her. ”I’ll let her explain why we’re here.” She moved away back to the cart from before and grabbed the gun once again. ”Come to think of it, having one or two of these around might be fun too.”

((OOC: Sorry it sucks, and sorry it's taken so long. It's been a long couple of months for me.))

"Please no..." Dimitri replied quickly when he heard that his date was going to attmept to sum up the facepalm worthy porno. After hearing it he had a slightly disgusted look on his face. The kind one would have after getting a whiff of a good fart. "I....I pictured it..thanks Daylia, I may be up for an extra couple of hours now."

The playboy went from an agreeing nod when she mentioned he would get paid for his duties to leting out a small laugh when she took a shot at his skills in bed. Really? Already? If Dimitri had any doubts when it came to her loosening up and enjoying herself that alone made them vanish. "Well i can't please everybody haha. I may get a bad review because i didn't want to wear the clamps. Overall though i'll make sure my performance will be sastifactory at best."

"Maybe as the night goes on i'll let you know." Dimitri assured her, an attempt on saving himself since she didn't come back with anything witty or something similar to to whether or not he was plotting to get into her dress. At the same time making it seem like he didn't care about his reply, thus the "maybe" part. As for Dance Dance revolution Dimitri had no problem looking like a fool; was it because he knew some people would end up appluading for having his back. Or was he already at that drunk state without drinking whatsoever? "I know at least..2 people that'll cheer for me. My quota is one so im good in that department. Maybe they'll facepalm you instead." he said, having a playful thinking expression on his face; index and thumb on the chin and all.

"Alright Bill you guys are good to go, we're okay over here." he said jokingly to his wrist, acting as if he had a private line with the paramedics. "Thank you, and yeah it wouldn't be all that fun if i do that." After Daylia implied that she wasn't new to the "good s**t", his widened in suprise when he saw Daylia knock back her drink in less than a few seconds. He fought back the urge to mention a joke that involved deepthroating or anything relating to that. "Maybe another one will be betterr..or two?" he said with a small smile. "Or have water with me?" he told her as he toasted his water bottle with a cheeky smile.

But the Playboy wouldn't get a chance to know for in a quick second her date was being snatched from him by another omega that he's seen often but didn't remember talking to. Lillian, Kelli, and now Daylia. "Go for it, its cool. Have fun out there ladies." he assured before taking her cup, just in case something was telling Daylia that maybe she should have reconsidered. Now with a sugar cookie that didn't reach the halfway point and an empty cup, Dimitri looked like he belonged at least. He remembered that Roland's date was stolen as well when he went over to talk to him. "It went well till my date got stolen... just kidding man, to be honest? It's going much well than i thought it would be. Daylia seemed to have loosened up and I'm having a good time with her. What about your date? Besides the 5 star performance you put on the dance floor how's your night going?"

After awhile, Vee got up, not wanting to be where she was anymore. Staring at gravestones wasn't exactly fun, and her legs were about to fall asleep. It was a nice place to be though, when you wanted peace and quiet - but only in the daytime. At night, the way the moonlight only illuminated certain parts of the engraved headstone was a bit creepy.

Despite how she usually preferred it, she was almost wishing someone would come up and bother her. With most of the students at prom, it had gotten quiet around the Academy. Those who stayed were mostly people who preferred to stick to themselves, like Vee herself. She doubted those people would want to randomly come up and introduce themselves to her.

Perhaps she would just walk circles around the Academy for the rest of the night. As she neared the garden, she heard voices conversing with each other. Acting on habit, she stuck herself to a nearby tree that hid her in shadow. Two people were talking by the fountain, one girl, one boy. The boy appeared extremely uncomfortable, the girl not so much. Vee wasn't close enough to hear what they were saying. Her curiosity got the better of her, and slowly, she crept forward. Then, she stepped on a twig, and it cracked with a sharp, hollow sound. Perhaps the sound was just louder in Vee's mind, but it seemed to her that the sound echoed throughout the garden. Crap.

User ImageA smile escaped Roland's lips as he heard Dimitri say that his date was going surprisingly well for him as well. He remarked that he enjoyed the fact that his date was able to cut loose and have some fun. Taking a note from the dancing of the three girls out on the floor, he had to agree with him. If anything from this night was going to make him smile it was the fact that this was a night that the whole school was able to forget about the insanity outside. Tonight, there was no worries about the government and it's Registration Act. No worries about anti-mutant sentiment that is sweeping the nation. No worries about the return of Magneto and the repercussions of his arrival in a newly volatile environment. Tonight, they could just forget about it all and try and have some fun. Because come dawn, the madness begins again.

When Dimitri asked him how things were going for him and Kerrigan, he jokingly replied, "Well in the beginning it was a bit slow, but once I dislocated that guy's shoulder things just got a lot more interesting." when he remarked on the "5-star performance" he had on the dance floor, he joked more, "Tell me you're referring to the dance right? I'd rather not the fight be the one thing I'm known for tonight." he smirked a bit as he watched the girls dance. He was glad that this evening was something people could enjoy.

"Well, this evening has been great." he said, motioning for him to wait a moment as he went back and grabbed two glasses, "First round's on me." he joked as he handed Dimitri a glass of punch.

"To a night worth remembering." he said to the Playboy, raising his glass a bit as he knocked back the drink.

Eli froze up immediately as Katarina moved in close to him, he looked to her palm on his. With how close she was, there was no way she couldn't hear or feel his heartbeat accelerating, the anxiety beginning to rocket out of control.

"There is never someone not being able to belong. Sure, I don't mix with everyone here, but I mix and belong with the test tubes and beakers in the science lab." He managed to mumble out, rather quickly, if she picked up on it or not, well, he wasn't sure. But he closed his eyes and took a deep breath and opened them again trying to calm down in the slightest.

As she leaned in closer and mentioned the fact that it could be therapeutic. It bewildered Eli. How could being a clutz in an attempt at moving to a specific tempo be therapeutic? The urge to leave crawled up his spine, and felt like it made a b line for his throat.

Crack, the sound echoed from juts beyond the light, interrupting the steady flow of the water, unsure if someone (Vee) was there, Eli pulled his hand back and stepped back sitting on the fountain ledge. Why were there people who had to be in his vicinity? In his other hand, he had realized there was still an Orange Crush soda, unaccounted for and full in his hand. He took a swig and pretended it was mixed with whipped creme vodka; in doing so, his taste buds then prayed the orange creme pop flavor that should have followed, did not.
