Luna rolled her eyes. "Because being the best at everything isn't my goal in life Casper. Because I've already looked inside myself. My deep dark unhappiness that you keep telling me about, the one you keep telling me I don't want to face, it can't be fixed. No amount of trying, pushing myself, wishing, hoping, or praying is ever going to accomplish what I want. And I've accepted that." Accepted what?
So excuse me for avoiding the problem but it's not the best subject, I can't just go on with my life like you can." So what was Luna's big unhappiness!?!?
"Your right, I'm not satisfied, but no amount of shuffling the deck is ever gonna give me the hand I want cause there's a ******** card missing." What was it!?!?!?!?!?!

So he was right!
Of course he was, Casper was always right! Mmm...but maybe that wasn't a good attitude. Casper quickly reminded himself that occasionally he could be wrong...just not right now.
Oh boy, Luna was wrong with one thing for sure. Casper was not about to go on with his life. He was going have some more suicide attempts and be emo for quite a while.
But this wasn't about him!
Casper sat there quietly for a second and decided to speak up.
"Then tell me, what's the missing card? So what if you can't fix it, maybe I can."
Oh damn.
"And don't say no you can't unless you tell me what's the root of your unhappiness first because that would just be annoying."
That was a pet peeve of his.

Luna sighed and shook her head, looking around the room then back at Casper. Even though it made her sound obsessed, she didn't care. "You can't fix it. No one can, no one will ever give me back my daughter, I can never replace her. Never, I can't even have children and it drives me absolutely crazy. There is no such thing as a vampire child, animals hate me, I can't adopt a human child because I don't age." she pursed her lips together and sighed "I can't get over it like you can Casper, I can't just go on. Not with this. My mother, father, all my brothers and sisters. I've accepted it, when they died it hurt but it was nothing compared to losing my daughter, nothing." she looked around again "It's why, even though I'm so nice I've got nothing for friends, it's why I haven't found anyone to spend the rest of my years with, it's why I took you in off the streets." so there it was, Casper was Luna's solution, he was her attempt at filling the hole.

Already Casper had thought of one idea...but he wasn't going to say it out loud because it went against his morals...If she adopted a human child, she could raise the kid until it was like, 25 then turn it into a vampire...buuuuutttt, Casper didn't really feel good about that so he'd keep it to himself.
But anyway, he understood what else she was saying. He had been through losing his family, and that hurt a lot more than he let on. He had seen what it was like to lose a child straight out of his grandmother's blind eyes. He knew it hurt, and he knew it changed people, and he knew he could at least give her a little something to think about.
"Luna, I understand that I can't give you your daughter back and I understand that I'm supposed to be the one you can take care of just like the mother you want to be would have liked, but Luna maybe the one you should be telling this too, isn't me." He quickly decided to reword that.
"Don't get me wrong, I want you to tell me everything, but the one you should express your heartbreak to...is Devonshire." And wasn't it? Wasn't that the man who took everything away from Luna? Wasn't he the one who killed her Rosemary and forced her to watch as her family aged till they were nothing but a pile of bones and a dirty gravestone? and what had been that vampire's reasoning? That she was nothing to be concerned with? That humans weren't something that needed to be respected? Or did he think he was freeing Luna from a miserable life with an abusive husband? And what a bullshit reason too? Sure kill the husband in that case, but why her daughter too? That just didn't make any sense.
And so what if Devonshire had become hospitable? It was a hundred years later and still her life was destroyed.

Luna shook her head and laughed. Although, it wasn't one of her normal cheerful laughs, it was one full of bitterness. "Casper..." she shook her head and sighed "After I was turned, after I found out what happened, what he had done. I tried to kill him, I screamed, I raged. I felt like I was going absolutely insane. I told him what it did to me, I let him know all about my heartbreak, every little detail every second of the day. And you know what he told me, over and over again? That he saved me the agony of killing her myself, that he had done me a favor. He said that I would have went to see her and that I wouldn't be able to resist the temptation."
She growled and clenched her hands into fists, "So I screamed and yelled, I told him that he had no ******** idea, that I would never kill my daughter, that he had no right to assume that. And I told him again how much I hated him, how much he disgusted me, I did anything I could to hurt him. It didn't work, nothing did. He sat there and took it, and was still nice as ever to me. I couldn't understand it, it made me hate him all the more." she sighed and rubbed her temples "I told him already. And he doesn't care."

Well he knew who was number two on his to kill list now.
And that to kill list, was literal. Theron Deveonshire was now officially one below Lavinia.
"Well that's bullshit if I've ever herd it. Doing you a favor? He shouldn't have turned you in the first place." Vampires were so self righteous these days! He almost preferred the excomuinicants, they admitted that they were terrible!
Casper shook his head.
"If you hate him so much, why do you smile at him?" He asked a little less trusting now that he remembered that little fact. "You're letting him win Luna...I mean, I know those self serving ancient types. The fact that you act like everything's okay just eggs him on, makes him feel invincible. I don't know, someone out there will get rid of him eventually." And if they didn't Casper would do it himself.
"If you're lonely make some friends. Obviously if you're over 100 years old you've cured yourself of the initial shock and depression, you can live now. You should go and make friends, because there are people out there that want to know you. And you should look for love, because there are so many people out there that would love you. You're only punishing yourself right now for a crime you didn't commit. Take baby steps right now. It won't go away right now, it may never go away...but you can at least try to make it easier on yourself. Go find the love of your life, he's the one who will turn things around and make your remember the good times and overcome the anguish."

Luna sighed, why did she smile at him? Because killing him upfront wasn't an option for her. And she wasn't going to drag anyone else into it. Casper had been her exception, her slip up, but he had a grudge with another of the ancient vampires so it wasn't like he couldn't sympathize with her. She wouldn't be telling him of course. She had never once uttered the words aloud, never even hinted that was what she wanted to do. She just pretended she forgave him, acted like the "daughter" she was supposed to be and moped around. Well, as much as she could mope because she was still an essentially happy person. She sighed and finally sat down on the couch, feeling all tense again. What a great waste of time that massage turned out to be. "You give such great advice, I don't understand why you don't follow it yourself." she said with a nod and leaned back into the couch. "Then again you have more to deal with than anyone." she said softly, yeah, he already had Lavina after him. And he was an ex hunter, now a vampire, and that never happened. She didn't even want to think of what he was going through. Even though she would help him as much as she could.

"I don't take my advice because of crafted for people that aren't me, I know myself too well." Which was funny because not too long ago he had confessed he didn't know himself at all.
Casper sat back on his hands and respected the fact that Luna had changed the subject to avoid the question.
"Eh, I'm sure there are tons of people out there who would laugh at my problems." Casper just wouldn't throw himself a bone.

He didn't know where that came from? All of a sudden she was pointing at him!

Luna smiled, a small smirk pulling at the corner of her lip. She put her hands on her hips and looked at him. "No pointing, it's rude." she said with a nod that said, and that's final besides, she was kind of hungry now and since she hadn't had breakfast and was now about 3 hours off her routine she was freaking ravenous. "You hungry yet?" she asked, heading from the living room into the kitchen where she poured herself an extra large glass of blood and gulped it down.

Casper stood up.
"Yeah" He followed her into the kitchen and poured himself a glass of his own. Casper drained the glass in one swig and quickly filled himself another glass. He went though like ten of these daily...
His eyes found Luna's face tentatively.
"You should really get back at Devonshire." Mmm, someone hadn't stopped thinking about their previous conversation. "You shouldn't let him win just like that."

Luna looked at him and shook her head. "I told you Casper, I'm not one to get even." and normally she wasn't. "And he didn't win, not completely. Yeah, cause Luna was hand chosen by the b*****d to be his consort. "The whole reason I was turned was to be Theron's companion. I'd known him since I was a little girl, he had always hung around my family. I always thought of him as distant Uncle till I found out what was really going on." she sighed and rubbed her temples "He was the reason I got married so ungodly late, he scared off any suitors. I wasn't supposed to be married at all but he had some issues, you may have studied it it was the conflict between the ancients or something like that, but that took him away from his home. That's when Thomas came in and by the time he had gotten back to "claim me" that's right, she made the air quotes "I was already married and had a baby. He killed them both, you already knew that, but he never won because I never loved him back." wow, it sounded like a bad soap opera.

"No...I'm pretty sure he's won until he's dead." Oooh. "He doesn't even have this pressuring aura like some of the other ancients do." Yeah because Casper was Casper St. Clair vampire slayer extraordinaire!
Casper just like didn't have what was known as the emotion "fear". He was just too ******** brave for his own good!
"Give me a few days, I'll figure it out." He said waving his hand to wave it off. What was funny, was that was precisely what Casper had said to his superiors before he went off to kill extremely powerful vampires...
He decided he'd change the subject so that he had time to think about killing Devonshire by himself.
"So, anything else you want to clear up or share with me? We might as well get it all out now."
Casper liked knowing everything so he could assess it something before it was used against him.

Luna sighed and looked at him "You can't kill Theron." she said firmly, her voice left no room for discussion, even though Casper probably would anyways. She crossed her arms over her chest though and shook her head "That's enough stories for one day. Especially since I'm the one doing all the sharing." yeah, that hadn't slipped Luna's notice.
The fact that Casper kept bugging her about Theron though was really bugging her, and this she couldn't actually tell him cause.. yeah...

A long boring day later, Luna yawned and pulled back the covers on her bed, situating the pillow in it's usual spot even though it didn't seem to help some nights.
