"That's right," Earendil smiled proudly. "Talk is indeed better. Talk helps people to understand each other, and when people can understand each other there's no need for violence or anger."

He turned to Lin and grinned. It was really his first opportunity to do something really father-like, and it made him feel good. He just hoped he had handled it right.

Earendil chuckled softly, his eyes sparkling brightly. "That would be very good," he agreed. "The very best thing that you could do."

The miles stretched onward and the day grew hotter, and eventually it was time for them to stop for lunch. Shea pulled up the cart, and the riders stopped their horses and let them stand by the river's edge. It wasn't a big river at this part, more like a stream; and they had no troubles letting their horses graze.

Tress and Dal set up a white cloth canopy for them to eat under, to shield them from the sun while they rested.

After lunch, Kaito curled up for a nap, and even Shea and Mikhail stretched out for a quick snooze before they kept traveling. Earendil wasn't especially tired, but he laid down anyways just to rest a bit. He put one hand behind his head as a pillow and watched Miyuki and Lin, smiling softly to himself.

One of Kaito's ears twitched as if he had heard his name.

Earendil chuckled softly, watching Lin and Miyuki. "It's the hottest part of the day," he murmured softly so as not to wake the others. "It's a good time to rest, so that you don't overheat yourself. Once it cools down a bit, we'll start traveling again."

He shifted slightly to get more comfortable. "You should also try to rest," he murmured, closing his eyes.

Earendil smiled, keeping his eyes closed. "That's just something you're going to have to get used to," he murmured softly. "Sometimes you just have to relax and keep yourself busy in your mind or something. Try thinking about something you like to think about ... that will help pass the time."

Earendil smiled and closed his eyes and allowed himself to relax. He wasn't really tired, but it felt good anyways. Triss and Dal would get him when it was time for him to leave again. And it might help Miyuki to realize it really was a good time to calm down and rest for a while.

It was so quiet that Earendil could hear the sounds of the horses swallowing the grass they were eating, and the ever so quiet swish of the slight breeze going through the river reeds. He could hear Miyuki's tails flopping, and it sounded as if she was up to something: but he kept his eyes closed as if he really were going to sleep.

Even without looking, Earendil could sense that Miyuki was approaching him, and he could hear the soft shifting of the sand beneath her movement. He shifted a bit, turned his head away from her as if settling into sleep.
