Kat let out a small chuckle. "Just keep your mind open for any future-tips, Adam. A fortune cookie power is fairly useful."

She glanced up as Jarred walked in carrying groceries, and immediately hopped up to go rummaging through the bags the moment Jarred put them down. "Oooh, someone buys brand name cereal...aren't we posh." She put the cereal box to the side as she began digging further into the bag. "Well we did shoot some people, didn't we? If we don't hear any other news on shot bodies, might as well assume it's one of ours."

She glanced up at the sound of Sam's name being announced on the TV, a moment concerned, but seeing as an amber-alert calmed down a notch. "Popular kids. Ah well. Hey, Omar, Adam, have any food requests or will you let me experiment on you?"

Omar's eyes stayed glued to the television not paying much attention to jarred when he entered the house. It was not out of disrespect he was just to focus at the moment to take notice. But when Kat had mention something about food he was quick to respond. "Quiero frijol negro y arroz por favor." Omar paused for a moment and just realized that he was speaking in Spanish so he quickly translated what he just said so as to not cause confusion. "Uhh, I mean, I want Black beans and rice please."

Kat let out a small chuckle. "Black beans and rice, sounds good, but doesn't look like Jarred picked up any beans." She started moving through the cupboards, checking the kitchen space over for any beans at all. "Damn, don't even have a rice-cooker. Who doesn't have a rice-cooker?"

She let out a short sigh. "All right, I'll be back. None of you do anything irresponsible while I'm gone."

Tyson seemed to quirk up at the job offer. It was a job after all, which meant pay, and maybe even a place to stay. the boy blew at the table and worked the seasoning into the phrase: "JOB OFFER" adding a question mark bellow it. Using what little seasoning remained, he whipped it onto the other empty plate and spelled out "HOMELESS" adding an thin arrow pointing in his direction.

The old man nodded. "Do not take offense, boy, when I say I know. We don't have a spare bed, but we have blankets and a couch. You will be safe with us."

Smirking happily, the dirty young man positioned the salt into the phrase "FLOOR'S FINE." Looking at the words, his smirk grew to a smile. He rarely ever smiled. Placing his arm on the table, he covered his mouth and cheeks as he began to blush though he wasn't all to sure why he was doing so. This would the first time he would have a roof over his head in months. And honestly, the first place that had welcomed him for the last three years. He reworked the seasoning into "Thank You" and sat back, thinking to himself how good it might feel to have a decent bed.

"Kat? Are beans really worth it? We know we're all here, let's keep it that way."

With a slow nod, Adam felt for a chair and and sat down. He was glad yet a little upset that Jarred had come back; he brought food, and he was cool and all, but this also meant very little sleep for him. Looked like more nights of trying to play video games...

Stomach growling almost angrily at him for sustenance, he waited patiently to be asked, like his father taught him. His chest tightened at the thought of his dad. Though he was glad to be away from that place, and the poking, and prodding. He really didn't like being a fortune cookie...

He shot his head upward, eyes wide and though clouded, fear could still be seen. Not one stutter, he spoke, "Guys, I haven't been keeping track of any dreams lately cause...I don't know why I just haven't, but I remember the Nephilim," his hands clenched the arms of the chair tightly, and the stutter returned, "I-I'd seen him a lot w-when I was younger, he's like a w-walking s-s-statue. He can't die...I-I don't know w-w-hat it means....what are we gonna d-d-o...Kat, y-you know w-w-who I mean, right?"

"I preferred the floor for the first year as well." The old man nodded, thinking back on his own past. "When you know only hard, it is sometimes difficult to accept the soft." He gave Tyson a nod of his head, before standing up. "The hour will be late soon. Come, home is above the restaurant." He stood up and began walking towards the back of the restaurant. He was a short man, asian, though not chinese.

Kat gave Jarred an inappropriate pinch on his backside, which if gender roles had been reversed would have resulted in an angry slap. "It won't take more then ten minutes. And we're not all here. Still waiting on Sam, the new kid, and the rest of the group."

She headed for the door but paused at Adam's words, dropping her coat. She took a few steps backward the beans forgotten as she moved over to Adam. "Yes, I know him. They brought him in, did they? Are you sure? son of a b***h." Kat let out a slow breath, "If the Keeper's general is in town, this is going to be turning into an all out war."

Jarred sighed, rubbing the bridge of his nose. "Great. Keeps getting better." He looked up at Kat. "I'm assuming this is bad, right?"
PostPosted: Thu Feb 18, 2010 6:37 pm

"Yeah," Kat nodded, "It's bad. He handles some of the things the rest of the council would be a bit too afraid to dirty their hands with. I saw him a couple times, but never actually met him myself. Though I'm sure he's got my file, and Rook's file...and has looked over them fairly thoroughly."

A small island off the shore of St.Eva, where Keepers house people that are too valuable to kill, but to dangerous to keep in the ranks, is going haywire. One of the prisoners had escaped, and no-one knew where she was. They figured she was picked up on one of the supply scows that restocked the prison monthly, but where that scow was now and where she could be...just a mystery.

A mad, high-pitched cackle echoes from a dark alley, along the the grunts of a man in pain. Oddly enough, also the sound of static discharge.

Adam nodded solemnly, "Y-yes I'm sure. I-I'm gonna keep track of m-m-my dreams from now on...p-promise," his face dropped and his stomach felt very uneasy...maybe this is why his dad got so upset when he forgot about his dreams...

"Sounds great. Well more reason to avoid going out for a while. Let's try and stay out of this guy's way. What does he do?"
