"First thing I'm gonna do is catch me one of these new pokemon, then I can study it!" Jason said eagerly as he took Robin's pokedex and skimmed through the entries. There were some really weird looking pokemon in there, but the one that really caught his eyes was a big silver saucer like pokemon with magnets. "...Magnezone? Wait a sec...does this mean there's another stage past Megneton!? No way that's so cool! Zeus could look like that some day!" He said handing the dex back to Robin so she could see. "I need to get my Pokedex updated as soon as possible! I wonder if Professor Birch can do it when I get that chance. I'll have to try and call him later." He looked back out of the window, wanting the train ride to be over so they could hurry and get on the ferry. He was so excited! "Aww, we'll be cutting it real close you know? And I was kinda hoping to stop by that department store in Lilycove. They have like, everything there."
+++++++
Crenu watched as the Squirtle covered himself with an odd stream of water and shot forward with incredible speed. What the heck was that...Water Jet he called it. Crenu had never heard of that move before...must have been one of those new moves the professor was talking about. But either way, Crenu knew that Riza's Cyndaquil was done for. This blond guy wasn't bad, but that seemed a little excessive for a young pokemon like Cyndaquil. But before the attack hit, Riza's Sneasle jumped in interfered, sparing the little fire mouse some serious damage. But interfering like that was bad, at least to him. "Hmm...I know she was helping out, but is it really alright to let her jump in like that? She should know better." That was more like Crenu.

Mike watched with a distant stare as the two kids fled, his gaze slowly losing focus until he was just looking at the horizon. The boy sat there in silence, his Pokemon standing (and floating) beside him. "They're not coming back are they?" Mike asked no one in particular. "They weren't just playing around..." He let out a saddened moan and stood up, his arms dangling uselessly in the wind. "Wait, of course they were! Hahaha!" A smile found its way on the boys lips, but once again faded as he failed to accept his own delusion. Wordlessly, he turned about and recalled his Pokemon and released another: Portabello.
The Breloom paused for a moment, no doubt sifting through the boy's mind as to ascertain just who it was before him. Master! The relieved Pokemon mentally shouted, quickly bowing before his rightful trainer. I was wracked with concern over your well being, as were the others. The Breloom began a somewhat folly attempt at cleaning off his master, brushing him off and straightening his clothes. You look terrible... Mike remained silent during the entire procedure, refusing to move or even lift his arms. Portabello continued diligently, trying his best to make his master look somewhat presentable; like wiping the large amounts of blood from his face, flattening his hair and wrapping his stomach and arms with impromptu bandages made from vines. After a few minutes the Breloom stepped back, gave his master a look-over, and with a half-hearted smile and nod his work was finished.
Mike walked over to the edge of the island and looked down into the water. His hair was indeed straightened out and his face didn't look like he worked at a slaughterhouse, but what lie underneath was much worse. At least when he was covered with dirt and blood there was something to hide behind, a buffer between him and the rest of the world. Looking at himself, unhidden and clean, was anything but. He turned away. He couldn't even look himself in the eye anymore; not after what he had done. "I...I need to get out of here..." he said quietly.
What was that master? inquired the Breloom.
"I have to get out, go someplace far away where I can't hurt anyone. Somewhere I can suffer in solitude without having to worry about what I might do when I close my eyes." He stared at the ground, his gaze unmoving as he drew Nitro's Pokeball and released him. "Someplace far away..." he repeated.
Portabello jumped forward. Master I must protest! The best solution would be to seek help, like a hospital. There you can get the care you ne-
"Like the 'hospital' that took you away from me and locked me in a cage?" He laughed. "Hya-ha! Oh no, no one is taking you away from me again. They can't. You're all I have left. No one else trusts me!" Mike climbed onto the Charizard, Portabello reluctantly joining him.
What about your friends, master? Surely Miss Kasiya or Sir Kilik, or Miss Mitsu have faith in you.
"But don't you see Portabello? Every time my friends try to help me I hurt them! I can't put them at risk again, I CAN'T! I've got enough blood on my hands."
The Breloom was speechless. Rational thought was lost on his master, and he had given up all hope. Is this to be the fate of my once mighty master? To descend into madness and obscurity forever? He thought to himself. Nevertheless, he would remain by his side. Regardless of your destination master, I will remain your protector until my last breath.
Mike smiled warmly, a rarity in recent days. "Thank you Portabello." he said, turning to Nitro. "To Mt. Ember, buddy. Time to find ourselves a new home." The Charizard spread his wings and took flight. For once, the wind was at their back.

"Uh... what?" was all Keegan could think of to say as he watched Kasiya fall apart at his feet, though no one looked more confused and surprised than Themis. The Manectric's eyes were round as saucers, though after a few moments he seemed to become accustomed to it. Besides, there were worse things than being pressed up against the chest of a pretty girl, right? Keegan looked down at the blonde, sticking his hands in his pockets as he tried to deal with this unexpected development. Yet again you've managed to drive her to tears, so say something helpful, you giant idiot, his brain told him, though he didn't know exactly what to say. He took a deep breath. "Well, uh, last night I was accosted by your scary, evil, slightly crazy and yet incredibly hot sister," he started, though he was careful about which parts to mutter to himself. "Long story short, she demanded that I hand over my Pokemon, and when I refused, she sicced her own Pokemon on me. Needless to say, I was quite surprised to see Shocker among her ranks." Helios looked up at his trainer, quirking an eyebrow. That wasn't quite how he remembered it, but he remained quiet. The Ninetales did feel a twinge of sympathy for his trainer's girl, however. He was quite aware of how fond she was of that Raichu, even though he thought of her as a bit of a brat.

Normally Mike would be anxious at having to fly over the sea, but at this point he could care less. Just yesterday he was quite content enough to throw himself off a cliff, so falling off of Nitro and tumbling into the murky abyss of the ocean, while less instantaneous, would produce about the same effect. Not to say that at this point he would just get up and jump off, but if an accident were to occur...oh well. No point in thinking about it now. Portabello placed a comforting hand on Mike's shoulder.
Please master, pleaded the Breloom. Don't think such things. You're not so far gone that you are beyond redemption.
Once again, normally Mike would have yelled at his Pokemon for perusing his mind like a library, but he didn't feel like it. At least he knew that Portabello only meant the best from his mental prodding. For now he would just think of his soon-to-be hideout: Mt. Ember. He'd always read about it, but never had the chance to visit. Despite the utterly depressing concept of becoming a hermit and being alone the rest of his life, the boy could at least look forward to exploring the volcano.
Speak of the devil, what should come up on the horizon but Mt. Ember. Unlike Mt. Chimney, Mt. Ember was a dormant volcano, and hadn't erupted in a very long time. Mike smiled as Nitro began to touch down, spotting an opening near the midpoint of the volcano. No one could make it up that far without being either an expert climber or a trainer, so that would keep visitors to a minimum. "There!" he called out, pointing to the somewhat hidden entrance. Moments later they had landed, entered, and sealed the entrance to the now hidden entrance to the upper levels of Mt. Ember. The boy turned around and took in a deep breath of that wonderful volcanic air. Portabello and Nitro looked at their trainer, awaiting for their next order.
"Well boys," he began. "Let's break this place in, shall we?"

Mazarin hopped off the couch when he heard that tell-all DING that his Pokemon had been fully healed. He took each of the Pokeballs that he practically threw at Nurse Joy and attached them to his belt, walking out the front door without so much as a thank you. When he finally got outside, he took a deep breath then whipped out his PokeNav. "It's....8 PM." He scratched his nose. Wasn't there something important that was going to go on soon? As he began to walk along the beaten path, it hit him. "THE BOAT TO SINNOH!" He spun on his heel and began running to the west, expecting to make it to Hoenn on foot. "Wait, no! Hoenn is this way!" He started running Southwest. His arms were pumping and sweat was starting to trickle down his forehead. "Hng, hng, hng, gotta...make it!" He panted as he ran. Banette whisked his way out of the Pokeball and began floating alongside his trainer. He gave him a puzzled look. What on earth was he doing?
"Gotta make it to Hoenn soon!" he panted, looking over at his Pokemon. "Otherwise, we'll miss the boat!" He hopped over a ledge and kept running. Banette made a muffled sound, as if asking him a question. "No, Banette! I don't know tha--aahahahaaa!" Mazarin had looked over at his Pokemon for one second too long, not noticing the ledge that was coming up on him quickly. As the boy reached the edge, he tried to skid to a halt, but no such luck was his. Maz lost the goofy grin and immediately, it seemed like his entire personality did a 180. Focused, the boy brought his arms to his chest and before hitting the dirt, tucked himself up. That didn't ease the impact at all, but when he reached the bottom of the hill, he was completely fine. Minor scratches, if that, but it was definitely less than he could have experienced. Brushing himself off, he shook his head and returned back to normal. "Oy! Banette! Looks like we're on a beach!" He put his fists against his hips and started to look around, as if surveying the land. "Hot babes, check. Water..." he put his hand up to his ear and listened, "...Check. More hot babes, check." He winked over at a girl and she looked away. "Bitches. Check." Maz frowned, a bit downtrodden. Perhaps, using the World Wide Women network, Sasha sent a message to every girl what she felt about him, what he looked like, and his usual tricks. That was the only truly logical explanation. Crossing his arms over his chest, Mazarin started to walk along the sandy front, south of Fuschia City. "I'mma assume that Hoenn is that way?" He pointed across the sea, southwest, the same way he was running. To answer his own question, the boy pulled his PokeNav from his pocket and scrolled to the world map.
His device was a custom model, created specifically by T.E.A.M. scientists, and featured a wonderful world map feature. Most PokeNav would locate which region you were in and provide a map for that specific region. At least, that was how any PokeNav he came across worked. Mazarin tucked the device away. "And which-a-way is Sinnoh? He took his shoes and socks off, then walked out a little ways into the water. He searched around, as if expecting to see Sinnoh just pop out of the water right at him. "What was it that Rowan saiiid?" he racked his brain to figure out where it was exactly Sinnoh was located. "Oh, forget this!" he pulled out his PokeNav again and rang up Alastor.
"Oy! Mate! How's it hanging, eh?"
"Cut it, Alastor. I need you to pick me up and drop me in Lilycove," Mazarin stomped his foot in the water. Alastor started to laugh, and told Maz to stay put. He'd be there shortly. Kicking the water, Mazarin pouted. "Why was I even in Kanto?" he grumbled, "Kanto's dumb. Full of stupid broads and nasty..." he started to walk out of the water when he felt something pinch his toe. Pain shot through him like a bullet. "KRABBYYYYYYY!" he cried out, lifting his foot out of the water. The Crab Pokemon was clamped around his toe. Looks like he had been kicked and almost stomped on by Mazarin - the Pokemon was looking a little flustered. The boy pulled the Krabby off and threw him back into the water. "I got enough of ya!" He said, crossing his arms. A few people were looking at him. "...In...in storage. I have a lot of Krabby in storage. Yeah. What'd you THINK I meant?" Stuffing his hands into his pockets, the boy started to walk up the beach and plopped onto the sand, playing with his shoe laces. Banette hovered beside him, laughing a muffled laugh. "Yuck it up, Banette." Mazarin sighed.

Still sniffling, Kasiya continued to hang on to Themis, quietly listening to Keegan's story with mixed interest, looking up at him only when his voice went too low to hear. However, she forgot all about that as he went on, and her eyes grew wide. "Wh-what? Mai tried to steal your Pokemon? And she used Shocker against you?" Her gaze moved over to Helios for a moment before looking back at the redhead again. "What happened? How did you get away?" she asked, finally relinquishing her grip on the Manectric and standing up. She was quite interested now, as she was quite aware of just how tough her sister's Pokemon (and her Raichu too, of course) were, and the fact that Keegan still had all his Pokemon meant that he'd somehow gotten himself out of that situation.
=-=-=-=-= It wasn't until the Sneasel had put herself in front of Eris in a display of blinding speed that Jaeshan snapped back to his normal self. The Ice Punch had landed a solid hit on Squirtle as well, and the poor turtle was knocked out cold with the hit. "Sorry 'bout that," the tall blonde chuckled as he recalled his KO'd Squirtle and somewhat-tired Kakuna, and made his way across the still-slightly hazy battlefield. "I got a little carried away at the end there, is everyone okay?" He glanced up at Crenu and offered a well-mannered nod as a greeting, seeing as he didn't know the guy that well and it would be awfully rude to flat out ignore him.

The redhead shrugged and picked up the empty tray from the bench and finished the last of his now-cold coffee, and he began to walk back in the direction of the Pokemon Center. "Yeah, it was after I left the Gala last night. She confronted me and we had a short battle, and I won somehow," he went on slowly, Helios and Themis now walking along beside their trainer. "I'm pretty sure she was drunk though, so that probably had something to do with it, because I highly doubt that I could bring down a high-ranking officer of Team Rocket on my own. Anyway, I tried to get Shocker back for you, but she, uh, well..." he trailed off, realizing he hadn't thought this through completely, and he frowned, his mind and heart racing. "She managed to get away," he said finally, sighing as he picked up his pace a little. He figured now was as good as time as any to end the tale, as he wasn't sure how well he'd be able to come up with believable lies on the fly to cover up his philandering the night before. "So yeah, that's exactly how it happened," he finished as they came upon the red-roofed building and went inside. "When does the ship leave for Sinnoh, anyway?" he asked suddenly, eager to change the subject.

"I didn't let Akima do anything," Riza replied quickly, glaring first at Crenu and then down at the Sneasel, who seemed to show no remorse whatsoever for her actions. She scoffed and shook the water from her body and then folded her arms over her chest. She didn't think she'd done anything wrong at all, and for the most part Eris agreed with her as had Akima not jumped in front of her she probably would have been knocked into the middle of next week. The baby Cyndaquil whimpered and pawed at Riza's leg, and the dark haired girl sighed and picked her up. "You did really well, Eris," she told the Pokemon, and she meant every word of it. "With more training, you're gonna get really strong." She looked over at Jaeshan, and smiled. "Don't worry about it, everyone's fine. Your Squirtle's amazing! And I hope your Kakuna evolves into a Beedrill soon, he doesn't seem to be very happy about being so immobile." She glanced back at Crenu, and nodded at the blue haired man behind him. "So Crenu, aren't you gonna introduce us to your friend?" she asked cutely. * * * * * The boy, who had introduced himself as Joey even though Katie hadn't asked for his name, had released a peculiar Pokemon that closely resembled a beaver, and Katie recognized it almost instantly. "A Bibarel," she murmured, doing nothing to hide the unimpressed look she wore. She'd learned a lot about the evolved form of Bidoof during her time at school, seeing as they were very common in that area and her teachers often hinted that they would be a good Pokemon for new trainers to try and capture. She knew they were a dual water and normal-type and that while they weren't very fast on land, they were quite agile and swift while in the water. She also knew that they were hard workers, and the dams they built were far stronger than any man made ones.
"What's wrong with my Bibarel?" Joey demanded, looking down at his Pokemon.
"I didn't say anything was wrong with it," Katie replied, shaking her head as she looked at the Pokemon she'd released, her Roselia. "Bibarel are just so, so common, that's all. Seraphim, start off with growth," she said. Seraphim nodded and appeared to dance on the spot, her flowery appendages seeming to grow larger as the petals bloomed to their full extent.
"That's not a nice thing to say," Joey growled, stamping his foot. "Bibarel, you start with defense curl! Let's teach this girl some manners!" The beaver Pokemon, who had been standing on all fours, brought his limbs in and curled himself into a tight ball. "You know what to do now!" the blonde boy then called, and Bibarel began to roll forward, preparing to slam into Seraphim with a rollout.

Crenu nodded back at the blond, he seemed well mannered enough. Still, seeing the same person in two regions and three different cities now was starting to get to him. Someone had to be messing with his mind, this sorta stuff didn't really happen did it? But that didn't matter now. He looked back at Riza, regaining his composure. He set Snorunt down, much to her protest, and didn't even glance back at Ken. "No, I'm not." He brought a cigarette to his lips and lit it calmly. "But I'm sure I don't need to." He took a small drag from his cig and waited for the inevitable.
And of course, Crenu didn't have to introduce him. "Ah! Shiro I'm hurt, you're so mean sometimes!" He said with an exaggerated frown as he walked up to them, a smile soon returning to his face as he held his hand out. "Kenneth Breeman my dear, Pokemon Coordinator extraordinaire! And you two are? Never mind. You two did great, what a mighty fine Sneasel you have! And your little Cyndaquil is to die for! You must tell me how you taught her to use Extrasensory, are you a breeder? Oh how wonderful. And you, your Squirtle's Aqua Jet was marvelous." he said looking at the tall blond now, why was everyone so tall! He didn't feel special anymore, oh but at least no one had a cape like his! "Umm, Riza was it, you must be Shiro's friend, the one I heard about. Did you two really save a bunch of trainers pokemon? Oh how brave of you! Ah, and you're such a cutie muffin to boot! Shiro dear why didn't you tell me she was so pretty, you dog you! Better not let her get away agai-" Ken was cut short as Crenu suddenly punched his arm pretty damn hard. But even still Ken could only smile. "Oh ho ho ho ho. How cute, even you get embarrassed sometimes!"
Crenu punched Kenneth again, biting the cigarette in half. "Shut up, you're annoying." He spit out the piece of cigarette still in his mouth and shoved his hands in his pockets, trying to remain calm. He managed to look the part save for the slight twitch of anger in his eye. "What are you two doing here anyway? I thought you were going to head back to Johto after the festival...and I don't even know who you are." He said to the blond, still annoyed like hell. Ken was so freaking nosy.

Kasiya wandered along behind Keegan and his two Pokemon in somewhat of a daze, her mind filling with more and more 'what if' scenarios as she continued to listen to Keegan's story. What if she'd not gone back to the Pokemon Center right away, and waited to go back with him? Perhaps working together the two of them could have taken Shocker back from Mai; maybe they could have even knocked her down a peg or two as well. But then again, what if that had been her only chance to get Shocker back at all? Again she felt tears stinging the corners of her eyes but she furiously wiped them away before they could be seen. No, she wasn't going to think like that. She'd get Shocker back someday, somehow. Though I probably should recruit help from my friends, or they'd never let me forget it, she thought with a half-smile. She'd been so absorbed in her own thoughts that she'd nearly missed his question about the ship. "Hmm? Oh, uh, it leaves at noon," she said, nodding. "Why do you ask?"
Once they got inside again, Kasiya waited in the lobby for Keegan to return his dishes, going over the things she wanted to say to him in her mind before he returned. She was well aware by now that if she didn't word things properly it was all too easy to set him off, and after their rough past couple of days it was the last thing she wanted to do, especially if they were going to part ways for who knows how long. Appropriately enough, she'd sat down on an unoccupied loveseat, wringing her hands as she waited for the redhead to get back.
=-=-=-=-= Jaeshan couldn't help but chuckle at the exchange between Crenu and Kenneth, and when the latter held out his hand Jaeshan shook it firmly. Somehow the name Kenneth Breeman seemed familiar to him, but he wasn't sure why. He straightened out his jacket a little as he looked over at Crenu. "I'm sorry, I should have introduced myself sooner, that was a little rude of me." He cleared his throat and held his hand out to Crenu, smiling his usual, cheerful smile. "I'm Jaeshan Devereaux, it's a pleasure to meet both of you. And thanks," he went on, also quite proud of how well Kakuna and Squirtle had done. "I just met both of them yesterday, actually, but I can see they've both got a lot of potential." He stole a glance at Riza, not sure he knew what Kenneth was going on about, but if there was something going on between Crenu and Riza, he was now sure he had an explanation as to why Crenu had gotten so annoyed yesterday when Keegan had cut in on him.

Sam was lead away, in handcuffs, to the police station. She wanted to punch something.
"Okay, so say you find out the truth, which is I didn't steal anything. This doesn't go on my record or anything? Cause 'thief' is not a great trait to put on your resumé" The cop just eyed her, a look of contempt on his face. "Oh, cmon, Mr. Stratford! You've known me since I was what, 3? And now you won't talk to me?"
"Anything you say can and will be used against you in court," he advised her. She kicked the sand in front of her. She hoped her parents could take care of Miles and Star. The cops had taken Devlin's pokeball, planning to keep in holding at the station. She'd been to the station several times, seeing as there weren't usually any dangerous criminals on Cianwood. Hell, there were hardly criminals at all. Sam being arrested had caused quite a stir in the community, especially since she was a homegrown local. She saw the faces of everyone she knew staring in disappointment and anger. She saw Janessa and Janie, the twins she had helped out, nearly crying. Out of fear or sadness, Sam didn't know. She saw Brynn's parents whispering to each other. She wondered if they would contact their daughter and warn her. Even if they did contact Brynn, Sam doubted Brynn would pay the slightest attention. She was marginally happier at the thought she still had a friend, and that her parents believed her. She let her legs go limp, not really caring if these stupid cops had to drag her through the doors, which is exactly what they did. They sat her in an...well it couldn't really be called an interrogation room, it was so small and lo-tech, but it was the closest thing they had. Sam awaited Officer Jenny, whistling to herself, waving to the people on the other side of the one-way mirror, hiding herself in the camera's blindspot (though they told her sternly to get out from under there), and then simply laying across the table and taking a nap. She couldn't sit very still for long, or keep quiet. These were people she knew, she didn't care if she acted insane around them. She talked to herself, mutterings about shoes and refridgerators, the kind of crazy stuff Brynn always ranted on about. She sang to herself, and talked in French and practiced her Spanish. Without a clock, she had no idea how long it was before Jenny finally came in. Sam swung her legs off the table towards Jenny, and swung them back and forth.
"Hi there. Come to question me? You ain't gettin' nothin' but the truth, I swear it. You know me, lockin' me up in this little solitary confinement does nothing but make me more sarcastic and annoying. I wish you good luck." She jumped down, and sat in her own chair, crossing her legs and folding her hands properly. She faked an accent, "Now zen, let us begin, no? Vhat vould you like to know?" Jenny sighed, and opened up the case file.
"Let's start at the beginning. How did you get to the Gala?" ===========
The Lickitung was wearing down quickly, with Xipil's slight advantage of a larger movepool and super effective Mach Punch. Although now with Xipil's confusion, things were just about even.
"Xipil, Mach Punch!" Xipil gazed around, dazed, her eyes sliding right over the Lickitung. She spotted a plotted plant that somehow seemed to be her opponent. She leaped forward drunkenly, and swiped at it. She succeeded in shattering the pot, and bruising her hand, but not much else. The Lickitung winced again as the poison drained it's energy.
"Lickitung, make the floor slick with saliva!" The Lickitung nodded, it's tongue flopping around. It slobbered considerably, saliva soon coating everything. Eztli hopped backwards, slipping on the saliva. She said nothing, but inside was fighting a gag reflex. She didn't enjoy being dirty particularly, unless she working hard at something like gardening or making charcoal. Xipil slipped and fell hard on the tile floor. As she fell, the breath, and flames with it, whooshed out of her. They flared up, wounding the fleshy pink pokemon. Eztli tilted her head a bit.
"Unorthodox...but it worked I guess. Xip, if you can, Mach Punch! We have to keep hammering hard!" Xipil's paralysis slowed her, but in a sudden lucid moment, she saw her enemy and knew what she had to do. She landed in quick succession three punches, one each to the stomach/tongue, head, and tail of the Lickitung. She slid backwards, using the saliva to an advantage. Although Eztli hated to say it, she shouted her command. "Xipil! Coat yourself in the saliva, make yourself harder to hold onto!" Xipil was just as disgusted as she, but complied, rolling around on the floor. She got dizzy quickly, and confused as she was, walked into several walls. Eztli was worried, though she didn't look it. These battles were proving to be extremely tough. Maybe after this she should just go look for Mix, and not train. 'And I'll visit Mama...' she thought.
"Lickitung..." The Nerd paused, not sure what to do. For a moment, Eztli thought he was going to accept defeat, but then his eyes opened more determined then ever. "Lick!"
'Lick again? What does he hope to accomplish?' Eztli tried to see his strategy, but couldn't see anything beyond just another attack. Perhaps thats really all it was. "Xipil, I know you are confused, but you know what to do. Either slide out of the way, or punch through it's tongue." Xipil, nodded, her mind still muddled in confusion. She attempted to stop the oncoming tongue, but shot flames in the complete opposite direction. The Lickitung wrapped it's tongue around Xipil tightly... and ate her. Eztli freaked out. The Lickitung's mouth was full obviously, so it wasn't actually eating her. What was the nerd trying to accomplish?! "Xipil! Ember!" She didn't see any flames and the Lickitung didn't react. Eztli saw a few weak movements inside it's mouth but nothing else. The nerd snickered.
"It can't hear you. It has to figure it's own way out," he said loudly. He laughed maniacally. Eztli resisted the urge to roll her eyes, and dash to Xipil's aid. Instead she bit her lip and waited. Xipil was smart, she would figure it out. The Lickitung started to gag, and a glow came from inside it's mouth. Smoke roiled out it's nostrils.
'Xipil is burning it from the inside out. Gruesome.' Eztli turned away, memories of the destruction she had caused floating through her mind. There wasa sudden splashing sound, and Xipil was staggering around on the floor, completely soaked in saliva and shivering. The Lickitung twitched on the ground, nearly fainted, and not wanting to cry out because of it's burned throat. The Nerd recalled his fallen pokemon. He glared at Eztli.
"You have no sportsmanship. Teaching your pokemon to do something that...horrific? It's a sad tactic." Eztli held back a retort about how his pokemon had tried to suffocate or eat hers. The Nerd pushed past her, keeping his balance on the wet floor. Eztli waited, then walked to Xipil. She knelt down, not caring at that moment about the spit coating the ground. She scooped Xipil up, and proceeded to the exit. She wanted to hurry onto the train, to hurry and find Mix, and possibly her family. She wanted to find her mother's grave most of all.
'Even though I never knew you Mom, you are the best part of my life....' she thought sadly as she ascended the stairs.

“Will! Hey Will!” He rolled over to see Teagan looming over him. Enthusiastic as always, she wore a huge grin that he couldn’t help but smile at. “Time to wake up, kiddo.” He groaned, “What time is it?” She pulled at his arm gently, “6:30. C’mon, I made breakfast.” Will looked up at her, still not fully functional, his mind struggling to find anything that would compel someone to be up this early of their own free will. After a brief moment he gave up and rolled back over, trying to find that same comfy spot. Teagan scoffed and smothered him with a pillow, “It’ll get cold. C’mon, get up.” “Okay, okay. Just give me a sec to get dressed.” Excited, Teagan skipped out of the room, closing the door behind her. “You'd best hurry, you don’t want me to have to come back in there.”
Will chuckled. He sat up and looked out the window opposite his bed. The sun was just rising, giving light to the port in Canalave. This was the first morning for him in this new town, the first time hed see the sun rise over the water. He looked on as a massive boat made its way underneath the drawbridge, and watched the foam at the crest of the wake. He let out a long sigh. I’m never going to get used to this, he thought, I don’t even know what I’m doing here. He stumbled to his dresser, threw on a wrinkled t- shirt and some worn jeans. Was this the right thing to do, he continued, I’m not sure. I mean, I know I needed to get away. Snowpoint just had too many holds on me, memories that are less than ideal. What am I going to do now? I don’t know anyone here, no one at all. I can’t do this. They will judge me, they will see me for what I was, they won’t, they can’t understand.
Spinning and leaning up against the wall, looking down at his feet nervously, he began to think of Snowpoint, and of his father. All the times he was told that he wasn’t going to make it, all the times his father told him that his injury made him inadequate. All the times that he got noticed, stared at and outwardly mocked. He thought of his vices, of the smoke, drink and needles.. He slid down the wall into a slump, the hair on his arms standing erect, tears streaming down his face. Looking down he noticed his hands were shaking. I thought I broke this. I thought I was better than this. I spent all that time at that damn clinic and look at me know. Just a kid too paralyzed by his own anxiety to walk outside, second guessing himself. Feeling the ever-present itching, the longing for a fix, a hit, anything. This isn’t me, this is just some momentary relapse. It has to be. Please let it be.
Will sat there, crying uncontrollably, feeling belittled and scared. His father used to tell him that he wouldn’t amount to anything, that he wasn’t capable of it and at that brief moment, Will agreed with him.
“Hey,” Teagan snapped as she opened the door, “I thought I told you tha-“ She froze when she saw Will curled up against the wall. She quickly moved to sit beside him. Brushing his hair from his face and dabbing at his tears with her sleeve, she spoke, “Hey kiddo… What’s going on?” He looked up at her, tears flowing, she could see the pain in his face. He fell into her lap, shaking uncontrollably. Teagan gently comforted him, stroking his hair and holding him close. “It’s okay kiddo,” she explained, “I know you’re scared, and I’m scared too but it’ll be okay. I love you Will, and nothing will change that or take that away. We have each other now, and I think that we’ll manage. I’m telling you kiddo, we’ll get past this. We will make it through this.”

“Drat! We can’t see Cyndaquil in that haze.” The boy shouted to his pokemon. “Oh wait, use Foresight! Yeah, that’ll make it no problem Hoothoot!” Claire was impressed, the kid knew at least a little bit. Crushing this kid was going to be fun. “Well Kokoro, our tactic seems to be useless for this fight so let’s just throw that owl for a loop. From now on...” we’ll do things via our connection.
Kokoro knew what her trainer meant. So extrasensory then while the smoke is still around? Claire nodded to her pokemon, who could see quite well through her own smoke for some special reason. Few people realized that Cyndaquil could learn Extrasensory, but it was indeed able if just the right conditions were met upon its birth. Meanwhile Hoothoot’s eyes began to glow like ominous red searchlights as they cut through the smokescreen. Luckily, it started on the wrong side and had no time to react as a glowing orange aura enveloped it and forcibly threw it into a nearby boulder.
“Whoa, what was that?” The kid exclaimed as his Hoothoot managed to get back into its familiar one-foot stance after a few seconds. “Well, whatever that crazy move was, we’re not going to take it! Hit back with your Tackle!” Wait for it to get close and then hit it with Ember. The owl was visibly annoyed and swiftly flew through the air straight for Kokoro. The small fire mouse turned as it approached sending out larger jets of flame from each of the four pores on its back. Though the Tackle connected the Hoothoot paid dearly for the advance and moved back to its trainer with several small burns scattered across it. “Hey kid, I noticed that my pokemon is a bit higher level than yours. Why don’t we call this good and you can go get your owl treated? I wouldn’t want to cause your pokemon too much pain for something so trivial.”
“Hey, my name isn’t 'kid' it’s Hercule Hadesco the Third! And we’re not gonna give up, right Hoothoot?” The owl pokemon responded with a determined call as it began to try another tackle attack. “Fine.” Drive this kid into the ground Kokoro. We’ll show him that despair is the only outcome when you fight hopeless battles. Kokoro readied her mind for another Extrasensory. As the Hoothoot drew closer it began to glow with the orange aura once more. Though it battled the invisible power, the Hoothoot was brought to a standstill a few inches from her target. Then with a vicious thrust the poor owl was sent sprawling back into a tree where it lay unconscious.
“Oh! Hoothoot!” Hercule cried as he ran to his disheveled ball of feathers. “You did just great! I’ll make sure you’re taken care of.” He recalled the pokemon and turned to Claire. “Geeze, lady! You’re pretty heartless! But I lost fair and square so maybe we’ll have a rematch sometime and I can show you how much better my pokemon and I’ve become.” And with that, he ran off towards the pokemon center.
Claire couldn’t help but feel annoyed. “That kid didn’t understand anything. Whatever. I guess you can’t teach an idealist about how things really work.” I thought he did pretty well. And there is something to be said for finishing a battle you start, even if you’re going to lose. “Please, only idiots pick fights they can’t win. Alright, back with you.” Claire recalled her prize fighter and continued heading towards Violet City.

Eris tried to bury herself even further within Riza's chest when the strange man with the shiny cape came near, but his words were kind though, and she leaned forward a little, trying to sniff at Kenneth. Riza giggled and cuddled the Cyndaquil. "She is cute, isn't she?" she said, looking down at the fire mouse. "But I didn't teach her extrasensory, I guess she was born with it, like how Akima knows how to use ice punch. I got her at the breeder's gala in Lilycove City last night, from Mrs. Summers. You know, Keegan's mom," she explained, looking to Jaeshan and Crenu especially. "She also knows how to use foresight," she added, giving the fire mouse an extra cuddle. Eris yawned and nestled into her trainer's chest before going to sleep, and hesitantly Riza put her back in her ball.
Crenu's reaction to Kenneth's comment made her laugh even more, especially when he punched the elaborately dressed man. "Aw, come on now, Shiro," she said, flashing him a smile. "Don't be like that. And don't be so rude to Jae, either," she added, winking as she scolded him with a waggle of her finger. "I'm only here in Vermilion because I missed the ferry back to Johto this morning and I figured I could just catch the train from Kanto, and Jae's here because he simply got on the wrong ferry. It's as simple as that." She shrugged and continued to grin, obviously enjoying this.

Crenu shook Jeashan's hand when he extended it, at least he knew his name now. But despite this new found interest, Crenu was taken aback to say the least by Riza's comment and actions. For some reason she was enjoying this. "Great, you got her calling me Shiro now too." Crenu resisted the urge to hit Ken again, it was futile after all. "He caught the wrong ferry? Hmm, oh that's right. You were on Dewford earlier, did you manage to win against Brawly?" Crenu asked curiously, though he was sure that he had. He hadn't actually seen Jaeshan battle, save for right now that is, but he he had to have stronger pokemon than the ones he used just now, otherwise he wouldn't have challenged Brawly in the first place. He was rather curious just how strong he really was. Meanwhile, envious of the attention the Cyndaquil was receiving and excited to see Riza again, Snorunt had scurried over to her and started tapping Riza's leg.
"It's a pleasure Mr. Devereaux." Hen said with a smile, looking back at Riza when she told him about Eris. "Mrs. Summers...ah surely you mean the Summers of Lavaridge yes? Excellent breeders, they get a lot of commissions from coordinators I'm sure, they are very popular. You can be sure that Cyndaquil will grow up to be big and strong. Of course, it's not all in the breeder. You as a trainer still have your work cut out for you. Oh but the little sweetie really seems to like you! And she's not the only one, isn't that cute?" He said with a big smile as he watched Crenu's Snorunt. The poor dear. Kenneth walked over to her and scooped her up, which she seemed content with. "Come on honey, don't bother the nice girl."
Crenu sighed, this whole thing was so damn troublesome. "Don't baby her to much or she'll get spoiled." He said flatly as he recalled Snorunt to her pokeball. He should have done that the moment she stopped crying. But what was really on his mind was what Ken and Riza had just been talking about, or the name at least. Keegan Summers...so that's red's name. And that of course only brought up more thoughts and questions, and as much as he didn't want to he couldn't stop himself from asking her. "So...what did happen to Keegan anyway? Is he somewhere here as well? You two looked like good friends or something. What did you guys do after I left for Dewford?" Why did he even care? Not like it was any of his business. Yet the idea vexed him for some reason, and Crenu lit another cigarette, sure that he'd see the red head pop up any moment now.
