"That sounds about right, the last two times I've visited, I was at the Ranch..." she tried to think if she visited anywhere else, "I might have been to Aliya's on my third visit, but that was about it."
Having spent most of her time at the Ranch making sure all the supplies were up to date, that was probably the extent of what she had done here in the past, and then was her second visit which was the beginning of the Ranch and she had been busy making sure it had the supplies needed."

"Of course," Ulrich added, "it doesn't help that Ulani and I are so often traveling ourselves. Between going for supplies and just plain seeing more people, we do tend to be gone quite often lately."
"Sometimes you come visit me, too," Rhea piped up, licking some egg yolk off her fingers.
Ulrich chuckled. "Yes, we do," he agreed with her warmly. "Though I fear that's one visit we don't make quite often enough."

"So I've heard from Lin," Cindy was amused, "Well... at least Rhea is probably going to visit you two more."
She giggled at Rhea a bit before explaining what was going on.
"Rhea has a staff, and she needs to be taught to use it, since it would be less awkward to carry it carry it around all the time if she was use to it, and it's a good skill to know."

"Ah," Ulrich smiled, "yes. Ulani is far more proficient with a staff than I am ... she would indeed be the best - and nearest - teacher. Besides, I wouldn't want to see any more dangerous weapons in the hand of our granddaughter - not while she's this young."
Rhea pouted. "I can learn, Neko," she told him in a matter-of-fact tone of voice.
"I know," Ulrich soothed her, "but you're too young to think about killing. And with everyone here, you don't yet need to worry about defense ... at least not with a weapon, yet."

Cindy did have to admit it was time easy to forget how young Rhea was, but still.... she mused thoughtfully.
"True...." she mused, "I can see where you're coming from..."
Though at least it was a staff and not anything pointy and sharp.
"But it'll be good for her, though hopefully it won't make Rhea too tired afterwards."
Now that she had more normal energy levels.

"Oh, I hope it does," Ulrich couldn't help but murmur wistfully. He hugged Rhea close. "Not that I don't like you all energetic and bubbly," he grinned at her, "but sometimes you need to give your Mama a rest."
"I know," Rhea smiled up at Ulrich innocently. "That's why Aragost got me the staff, so that I don't take all of Mama's energy."
Ulrich chuckled. "How big is the staff, anyways?" he asked.
"Real big!" Rhea exclaimed, throwing her arms high in the air to show him. "It's as big as two of me!"

"Well you'll grow into it eventually," Cindy commented, "At the moment though it is very big compared to you."
Though it wasn't a fully accurate assessment of what the staf was for, it would do for the moment. Rhea was already not taking as much energy as she use to, judging by how she was now. At least she got somewhat tired at a proper time.

Rhea giggled and snuggled into her grandfather's arms. "Well, it'll be a while before I grow big for it," she murmured, "but that's okay."
Ulrich squeezed Rhea again for a hug. "The time will come soon enough," he assured her. "Don't you rush it. Your parents grew up all too fast as well."
Ulani returned then, with a small pot of cider, and she moved to hang it over the fireplace. "Shouldn't be long," she smiled at Cindy. "I hope Ulrich isn't being too much of a tease."

"Ulrich? A tease?" Cindy grinned.
Of course she had heard the stories, but she had never been on the receiving end of that. Though what she had heard was amusing to say the least.
"Not at all, we were having a nice talk, with Rhea of course."

Ulani was amazed. "You managed to spend a few minutes in his presence without him trying to tease you? That's ... a miracle."
Ulrich pouted. "Now, now, you're going to give her the impression that I'm-"
"-a child still at heart?" Ulani interrupted with a faint smile. "I dare you to say that I'm wrong."
Ulrich opened his mouth to protest, then closed it and looked away.
Rhea giggled. "He's just a big kid," she told Cindy as if she was confiding a great secret to her. "But he doesn't like to say so."

Cindy split a grin, and she couldn't help but giggle herself. Poor Ulrich was being picked on by Rhea as well and Rhea wasn't aware she was doing so.
"But I'm sure that's what makes him a lot of fun," Cindy nodded at what Rhea said, "I've heard the stories."

Rhea pouted at Cindy. "But I didn't tell you any of the stories!" she protested. "About how he plays with me and teaches me things and makes me toys and stuff!"
Ulani laughed. "Come now, Rhea, there's no need to feel insulted," she grinned at her granddaughter. "You know Cindy wasn't trying to cut you off or anything, I'm sure she would love to hear the stories you have to tell her sometime."

"Stories my family has told me," Cindy amended, "I haven't heard your stories yet."
Of course the younger ones like Lin thought Ulrich was just being clever, she wondered though as Lin got older if she ever figured out exactly the sort of information she unwittingly gave Ulrich.

Rhea was placated for the moment, and she smiled once more at Cindy.
"Then someday," she murmured, "I'm going to tell you aaaaaall about my neko, all right?" She smiled sweetly. "And then you'll know that he's just a big kid. Just like everyone else says."

"And I look forward to every story," Cindy replied leaning close over to Rhea as if she was sharing a secret.
She giggled a bit more sitting back at her chair. She glanced at Ulrich to see how he would react, after all his little granddaughter was going to prove once and for all just how much of a big kid he was.
