"Baby gurl." Struck an immediate cord. I am his superior! She thought, disgusted by his seeming disrespect and then she wondered why Jaydn would hire such a foul mouthed individual. He'd better be damn good at what he does. Quickly swallowing the unlady-like insults that rose to her tongue, she adopted a new tone, a mix of demanding indifference. "I would not say that now is the appropriate time for a vacation." She began but before she could continue a man burst through her office door. Slightly startled, Kyrin's free hand flew to the gun she was wearing. Since they were on high alert now, Kyrin didn't go anywhere without some sort of weapon on her.
Her hand relaxed as she recognized one of her men. Her stress level increased. Can't remember how to knock? She thought viciously. Turning her attention away from the phone for a moment, she demanded, "This had better be good." The man, apologized profusely but claimed that his news simply could not wait. It appeared that Kyrin was getting the same information that Charles and Miles had just gotten. "Just like the other murders?" She repeated, gaining a nod from the messenger. Now her stress level had peaked and she wondered if things could get any worse.
Turning back to the phone Kyrin said, "You can have your sunshine another time, we need you here to equip our men." Her voice sounded strained and without waiting for him to say anything in response she hung up the phone. She cursed under her breath, in a string of words that Jun could understand, but the messenger in the room couldn't quite comprehend. Kyrin turned to the messenger, "Go tell Xavier." And with that he left.
Her glacier eyes turned to Jun and it seemed to take her a great deal of time before she said,
"The twins will wait until tomorrow. Right now I want you to lead a team and figure everything that you can about Leo's murder. Call me when you have any information." And with that Kyrin strode out of the room, seemingly not caring that Jun was left in her office as she went.

Jason pulled the phone from his ear looking at it to make sure she had really hung up on him. “Who does that b***h think she is?” The girls nearest him jumped startled by Jason’s out burst. In a huff he redialed Jun’s number. Jun? what the ******** is going on down there that they need me back so soon. Better yet what’s gotten into miss Ky to make her think she is Big Boss and can just order people around with out so much as a please.” Jason took a deep breath and laughed realizing that at the speed he had been ranting there was little chance Jun would have caught all of his English words. Starting again he spoke slowly and calmly. “What crawled up Ky’s butt and died. What in the world is going on back at HQ why in the hell do they need me down there? If I am needed so badly why didn't Big Boss give me a heads up?”

Miles turned nonchalantly to follow Charles' gaze. It had landed on the scruffy-haired rookie, Lucius, looking like he was in one hell of a hurry.
As Lucius relayed his message, Miles' eyes wandered to no place in particular as he listened. They soon narrowed fiercely in annoyance.
No sooner after Lucius asked the next course of action, had Miles put a firm hand on his shoulder, ushering him away. He assumed Charles would follow as well, but his mind had turned into spinning cogs again and didn't particularly care. He spoke as they walked. " First of all, I want to know where you got this information so I can speak with whoever it was directly." Whether it was just some scrub off the street, or an insider, Miles wanted to talk with them. The original source would be the one with all of information after all.
Lucius nodded as he pulled out his cellphone. They had stepped into an empty office; the lights were off, but light creased in through the shades. The phone was fumbled with it for a minute and Lucius pressed Call. As soon as a ring was audible on the other side, Miles swiped the phone from his nervous hands and walked to the window as he waited for an answer.

With Miles attention now on Lucius and the matter at hand, Charles raked his brain. At the news he'd felt his heart drop; the thing they'd just been talking to Kyrin about only just a little earlier in the morning, had happened. Daaaad, you jinxed it. His son's voice rang clearly in his head. I suppose we did. He thought. I suppose we did. Charles had every intention to follow Miles, but then his better judgement told him that he was better suited elsewhere. There were other things to do and Miles could certainly take care of this. With a brief nod to both Miles and Lucius, which he was sure neither of them noticed, Charles headed in the opposite direction, taking to the elevator. It had begun and there was work to be done.

Having been hard at work for just a little bit now, Xavier was leaning back in his chair and watching the screens. The thing that struck him as peculiar was the speed at which everyone was... He tilted his head,"Why are they running? He mused to the computer filled room. Sitting up straight, he enlarged a few choice screens. One showed an impatient looking Charles surrounded by three men, one of which had panic displayed clear as day across his face. It looked as though Charles was reassuring them...or was he giving them orders; without sound it was hard to tell. Another screen show a hall in which various men were running either to the elevator or from it, all of them somehow avoided each other, but it was close. The third screen showed Miles step into an unused office with a man that Xavier didn't know, he was walking with purpose, but once in the office, Xavier could no longer see him. The final screen showed Kyrin, leaving her office, her face was unreadable but from the way she was walking, Xavier could tell she was mad. What happened? And as if in response a frantic knock came to the door. Startled out of his own thought, Xavier rushed to the door. The message was relayed by the man that Kyrin had sent and Xavier felt a rush of adrenaline."They game has started." He said as he thanked the messenger and locked his office behind him. And Jaydn is missing it all.

Jun noticed Kyrin's growing distress as she spoke on the phone, but it wasn't until her informant burst through the door that Jun saw how tightly wound as she was. The surprise of the door exploding open and Kyrin's sharp move for her gun harness made Jun jump in his seat.

The news that another murder had been committed was not surprising but rather disturbing to Jun. Every time a day or two went by without another murder, Jun began to let himself hope that it had all be a coincidence, but then it would happen again. And every time it did he would have to face it that it was real. The disturbing part is what it meant to his men.
Jun caught the phone that Ky threw at him and hardly noticed her storm out of the room. He was staring blankly at a spot on the wall across the office. This mission was exactly the last thing that Jun wanted for his men.

When the phone rang again, Jun only answered out of reflex.
"Hello?" Jason rattled off in English, but before Jun could stop him, Jason sighed, and switched to Japanese.

"Jaydn and Maddox ran off to Japan, and now Ky has to deal with everything. Not to mention that someones been knocking off members of other oragnizations in town. Now Leos just been rubbed and she is flippin' because shes never had to run this stuff. Look, I can give you the details when you get here. But I need you here asap. I just got put on intell on this one and I'm not sending my boys out there with sharp sticks and sweatshirts. When can you be back'

“Ok. I will see what I can do. I will make a few phone calls see if I can get the plane diverted back towards HQ. I have a few guys that owe me favors, all goes according to plan I can be there in under four hours. But I want to make something abundantly clear I work for Big Boss I am only calling my vacation short because I like you. Oh and Jun you owe me a new vacation.” Jason said these last words with a chuckle as he closed his phone. He hated having his vacation cut short before it started but he liked the idea of his friends dead even less. He gently pushed by the girls walking towards the front of the plane. He knocked three times on the pilot’s door. The door was slid open by the co-pilot. “I need this bird to make a pit stop back home to let me off. Use only legal means to get us the diversion I ain’t risking getting caught and getting a record when I am not doing any thing illegal. After the stop take our friends to Miami show them how Americans party.” The news that Jason wouldn’t be joining them was met with sigh from Jason’s new play things. “You girls will need to have fun without me. Sergio will show you all a good time.” Jason walked back across the cabin and sat in his leather chair and closed his eyes I have four hours to sober up great.

Miles listened to the gruff voice on the other line explain the situation as he asked questions. Where is the body now? Were there witnesses? Do any outsiders know? ect, ect. Lucius had stayed with him, nervously shifting his weight from leg to leg and scratching his neck. Miles decided to give him something to do. He wrapped up conversation and flipped the phone shut. As it was handed back to the anxious rookie, Miles spoke. "Lucius, I need you to stop the current flow of information." a confused face peered up at him through his scruffy hair. They started walking back into the labyrinth of halls" You weren't the only one who came as a messenger right? I need you to contact who you know would be spreading the news and get it to stop. We don't need there to be an unnecessary ruckus."
But too late, it seemed, for the two had come around the corner into a commotion of men rushing about with raised voices. Miles planted his feet where he stood, caught off guard, and evidently pissed off.
" What the hell are you all doing? "
That was enough for many to turn their heads in his direction. One man stopped to reply. " One of our men has been, um, blown away. Sir." He added hastily.
Like chickens with their heads cut off. " I fail to see how that gives everyone the impression to stop working." Quite a few more people stopped what they were doing at his irritated voice.
"We have a legitimate business a few floors down. None of us, neither Jaydn nor any of you, can afford to have unwanted attention." No doubt Leo was well-liked among them. Their faces seemed annoyed at being reprimanded, but Miles was past caring about their feelings. His voice steadily rose in frustration.
"He was only one man for God's sake. If he was your friend, then prepare to lose a few more. If you're not ready for that, then you'd better do your goddamn jobs properly to keep it from happening more often. Running around won't do anything but postpone what needs to be done. As of now, this is a problem for Miss Kyrin to settle. Grieve on your personal time."
There was a moment of silence as the men stood there, perhaps angry or perhaps contemplative with his words, but they didn't dare disobey. Miles didn't mind playing the b*****d if it meant getting things done, especially to his subordinates. He wouldn't waste any charm on them.
Slowly, they forced themselves into a calmer course of work. The ones who weren't supposed to be there, regretfully went to the elevator. Lucius, who had stood there forgotten, went to the elevator as well to get to the other floors, cell phone in hand.
Miles shook his head, nerves plucked, but otherwise relieved to round up the sheep. He almost felt more pissed off at Leo for getting himself killed than the actual killer. It was a calling card though, from whomever it was. They were making a statement somehow, but it wasn't clear just what yet. With one hand, Miles opened his cigarette case, but hesitated...before putting it away again. He kept his patience on high as he prepared to go to the other floors.

Her heels clacked on the ground floor as Kyrin walked with purpose down the hall; what she noticed was less then pleasing. Why are they up in arms about a single death? She thought as she stopped a pair of men who were running down the hall. She demanded to know why it was that they were running and when they told her news she already knew, she heaved a sigh. "Not everyone in the building needs to know, those who need to know are already aware. I believe you have jobs to be doing and I'd say that you ought to go do them." After her words they continued their way down the hall, heads down, going back to their assigned positions.
As she walked she thought about the courses of action that needed to be done. She'd sent Jun to go figure out what had happened as well as inadvertently getting a hold of Jason. She wondered how long it would take him to get back. He was probably already on his way to Miami. She thought; If he'd been on his way to Miami already then she suspected it would take a while to land there and catch the next plane back into town. If he'd just left then she imagined it would take even longer. Her thoughts next turned to Miles. Knowing Miles, she figured that he already had more information on the subject then she did. As it was his job, knowing, she knew she needed to find him. Heading towards the elevator, Kyrin pulled out her cell phone. As she was preparing to dial Miles, she felt a weight ram into her right side and, unprepared, she fell to the ground. The cell phone flew out of her hand and collided with a nearby wall.
The culprit was another of those who was running around spreading the news of Leo, who's life had just been cut short. The man quickly sprang to his feet; he'd been coming around a corner and hadn't even noticed her. Holding out his hand to help Kyrin up, he stammered an apology. Kyrin glared at him with glacier eyes and got up without the help of his hand. Silently she looked at him; she fought the urge to slap him. Instead she reached for her gun, pulled it up slowly and aimed it at his head; his eyes went wide. She mocked shooting him, "Bang." She said in a cold voice, "When you lose your composure, you are likely to end up dead." Putting it back away Kyrin tried to swallow her anger without success. "Why do you all insist on running around like no one has ever died." She snapped, "The lot of you are idiots! Most of you don't even know the man." Eying the man in front of her she said, "You are going to visit every floor and stop this waste of time, if I see one more person running down my halls...Bang." He nodded his understanding, Now get the ******** away from me!" She watched him walk away down the hall, before she reached down and collected her phone; there seemed to be no damage to it.

---

After the incident with the man who'd run into her, Kyrin found no one else running amok on any of the other floors. She hear whispers of what had happened, but nothing near as bad as what they been doing. It had been four hours and the operation was in full swing. They needed to figure out what was happening, and the process wasn't going near quick enough for Kyrin's taste. She flipped open her phone on the way down the hall, When is Jaydn's man going to get here? She closed the phone and strode off to find Miles. She hoped he'd have some information for her.

It was four discontented hours later that Miles sat in his office, glaring at his phone. Periodically he would get some information, usually trivial, then wait 10 more minutes for even more trivial information about the whole mess which he would contemplate or expand further upon with research.
It was very ritual. Work; glare at phone; work; take out cigarette; put cigarette back; work; glare at phone; work; receive call; work; glare at phone. It was slightly maddening, but he took comfort in the fact that all would be revealed in time. He would make sure to it.
Miles didn't really care too much about the person who died; It was the principle of the thing. And revenge... Oh, the thought of revenge was so pleasant. It was the kindling flame that made him work like nothing else could.
It was the appearance of Kyrin that cleared the muddied waters of his thoughts. He turned his head up to meet her glance with an unconscious ghost of a grin on his face. She was always a welcome distraction, even though she was no doubt here about the incident.
PostPosted: Sun Sep 06, 2009 7:28 pm

She figured that she would find him in his office, but if he wasn't there then there were certainly only a slight number of other places she knew him to frequent. But why would he be anywhere else right now? She asked herself as she made way for the elevator. Kyrin shook her head and laughed in spite of herself. Here she was, second guessing, questioning, and for what? She was a little...frazzled? It was a lot to take in and Jaydn's men weren't really helping all that much. And now. Oh great... And now that she pulled a gun, in jest... Or was it in jest? She scolded herself. Of course it was in jest, she wouldn't actually have shot him, but she needed him to think it. But, there would be reprocussions for her actions because the word would spread that Kyrin's way of dealing with those who were unruly was....BANG. "s**t." She muttered as she pressed the number in the elevator. But now she couldn't apologize for her brashness because it would make her seem weak and they already thought she was weak. Maybe it was better that they thought she would shoot them. Probably not. And if Miles were to find out then he would mock her for sure.
And with thoughts of how he would mock her, and likely relentlessly at that, Kyrin opened the door to Miles' office. She found him at his desk. When she entered she fought a slight internal battled that tried to figure out if she should seek some sort of comfort or get straight to business. Business won out and she was grateful to know that it won out by a lot. She definitely didn't need his ridiculing right now, but she for sure needed his quick wit and intelligence. "What's the news?"

What, No 'hello'?
Miles had half a mind to tease her authoritative tone. It was his way of reaffirming their relationship in good humor. But he thought the better of it in the end. If he did that, then he would be no better than those on the lower floors, doubting her command of power. He settled with a cordial nod and smile. He wanted to respect her position as he would for Jaydn.
Leaning into his chair comfortably, Miles explained the general gist of what had happened based on what news had been gathered. Leo had been shot, rather sloppily from behind, two witnesses (his friends), police had been called about a heard gunshot but his body had been moved by friends, ect. Miles paused to toss his glasses onto his desk and rub his eyes. " So the cops don't really have any involvement, but I doubt it'd matter to them anyways. The funny thing is that he was shot from behind, which is unlike the other calling cards... In any case, I don't really see what sort of statement the killer would be trying to make. If he had really wanted to stir us up, he would have aimed for someone who we'd have a harder time replacing; unless he didn't know better. Since I can't be running around playing detective, I put a guy on it to try and trace to who it was. No guarantees, naturally. " He leaned forward, chin in palm. " I don't think we should let other gangs in the area know about it too soon. If they already know, then that's fine; It will establish that we all have a common enemy. However, if we confide it to them ourselves it'll seem like we're placing suspect. Better to let them come to us." Putting his glasses on, he glanced to Kyrin's face. " In other words, it's under control. Almost." Sort of. Even if it was the absolute worst scenario, Miles would try to make it seem like they had a fighting chance. His mind briefly recalled the bottom floors running around in chaos. A flash of a smirk spread over his face. She must have been pissed. " Enjoying the change of pace?"

PostPosted: Mon Sep 07, 2009 11:06 pm

Kyrin had stayed standing through Miles' report but once he finished and the smirk spread across his lips, Kyrin's mood changed slightly; she eased up a little bit. It was one thing to be strict and have to exude leadership in the presence of those whose trust she still had yet to gain, but it was another thing completely to be alone with Miles for a moment. She settled herself in one of his chairs and was silent for a minute, thinking. She smiled, answering first to his last remark, "The change of pace is welcome, although I must say entirely unexpected." In other words, she hadn't been prepared for it, but she was going to do her best to remedy the situation.
Thinking for another moment she tilted her head to the side, "Shot in the back you say? That definitely is weird. Its possible that it wasn't the same killer, but there haven't been reports, so until otherwise noted, we should probably assume that it is the same person or group that's been knocking off people from the other organizations. But as you say, maybe they were trying to make a statement, but to make a statement it would have been better to hit someone...higher up." She shook her head, "It might be a warning though. We should see if any of the other organizations had a lackey hit before a higher up was taken out. If we can figure that out without raising suspicion it might be useful information."
After that she asked his question back in return, "What about you, how are you enjoying it?"

Katzchen Had a very interesting time with the strange one. After they found the loud one, they traveled around the cavernous passageways avoiding lots of the large folk who barreled down the halls. Strange one tried to hide them both in a few of the burrows, but was unable to get inside them. After a long walk, they found a small place to hide in a very bright box that shook and made loud noises. Strange one carried Katzchen quickly from the box and into a new place that was much cooler, and smelled more like the place Katzchen could almost remember living with his family. Strange one socialized with other large fold and Katzchen was stroked and crooned to by many of them. Strange one had not been petting Katzchen because his paw seemed to be occupied carrying some sort of foliage.
Next, Katzchen met a large folk whose smell made Katzchens nose burn. But he was a kind large folk and Katzchen climbed up his arm to his shoulder where he could smell his fur better. The smell there wasnt any better, and Katzchen turned to keep his nose away, but the man began to pet Katzchen and scratch him just in the right spot. Katzchen could not resist the urge to purr.

User Image'because I like you' Jun felt his spirits jump when Jason said this, despite his lack of sleep and his recently deflated mood, Jun could not help but feel elated to hear someone tell him how they appreciated him. Also, this made Jun feel as if he was being an asset to the boss and Ms. Kyrin, which he had failed to do recently. With a new assignment under his arm, new responsibilities in front of him, a new found since of value and a new a very small companion once again perched on his shoulder, Jun set out from Kyrins office, and was met with chaos. The hallways were full of people running here and there, and for a moment Jun wondered what could possibly be going on when he remembered the reality of their situation. His joy sank, not completely deterred, but brought under control in the face of the severity of the situation.
The next four hours went by in a blurred mirage of people, work and phone calls. Jun had begun by looking for Nori again, so he could drop the kitten off with her, but was unable to find her in either the Kitchen or her room. Jun made a mental note to ask Nori about what she actually did with her time next time he had an opportunity, and then made for the 12th floor. Jun met with Andy, Kyrins surrogate, to explain his orders from Ky and get some men, only making one request. He found Haruo and left Katzchen with him to care for, being absolutely sure to relate that this was Ms. Kyrin Matsui's personal cat and that if anything happened to it, well Haruo got the point. Jun gathered his men and hit the streets, arriving back at the building only 3 hours later.

Jun felt the cool metal of the elevator doors on his forehead as he waited for the lift. The relief was far from comforting for Jun at this point. The only consolation for his exhaustion was that none of his men had found it a good idea to complain about anything while in his presence for the past few hours. The elevator dinged open and all six men poured inside, making sure to leave Jun extra space to lean in the corner. Jun's thoughts were cloudy and unfocused. He knew Jason should be landing soon, and was grateful not only that he would have a friend around to arm and armor his friends appropriately, but he was confidant that he could count of his friend to have a spare pill or two to help Jun through the rest of the day. When the men reached the 12th floor, they made for the bar and began pouring themselves drinks. Jun only stayed for a single shot and time enough to ask where he could find Haruo. Then he set off to do exactly that.
Haruo was in a training room, Jun watched him through the door for a moment before entering. He had found some sort of string ball and was laying on the floor and rolling the ball back and forth as Katzchen chased it to and fro. The sight made Jun feel a smile creep on his face, but it was quickly dashed by exhaustion.
"Haruo. Its good to see you have taking care of him." Haruo sat up with a start, and when he composed himself he smiled and picked up Katzchen, but before he responded he took a second look at Jun and frowned.
"Jun! You look terrible friend. When was the last time you ate? Or slept for that matter?" Jun was leaning on the door frame to the room, and Haruo made his way to him. "Lets go sit down, maybe get something to eat. I'm sure it would be a waste of time to try and convince you to sleep now, but it would be a good idea." The men exited the training room and locked the door behind them.
"You have good advice, but your right, I don't have time to sleep just now. I may have time to eat, but let us eat up stairs, Its quieter up there, and my head might just kill me if i cannot get some silence." Jun, Haruo and Katzchen entered the Elevator at the end of the hall and the doors clicked softly behind them.

Unlike the others in the building, Xavier was practically skipping around. He wasn't frantic or stressed out over the incident at all. After all, they'd been here long enough for something to have happened. He supposed it was just because they were somewhere new that everyone was a little freaked out about the whole incident. Back at home, they'd be wanting revenge. And revenge was exactly what Xavier wanted. Not personally, but he wanted to know it was being exactly. The thrill of something new happening was making Xavier giddy. And as he lost his earlier tired daze, he wondered where Nori had taken his papers to.
Xavier had more or less shoo'd him from his office four hours ago and he hadn't seen the other man since. Odd... I thought he was quicker then that. Xavier was making his way for the elevator to check another floor when he saw Jun and Haruo stepping out of one. He smiled and called a greeting.
"Jun, Haruo! What's up!?" It was then that Xavier noticed Katzchen. He smiled at the presence of Nori and Kyrin's kitten and held his hands out as if to ask, 'May I?'. "You were gathering some information for Ky on the streets just now, right Jun? Anything interesting?"
