Siber watched Alan while munching and listened intently. The meal quickly disappeared.

Siber did not ignore the not-so-subtle intonation.

"So in short, you seem like a very good person to know. Nice to make your acquaintance." He wiped one hand off on a handy paper towel and offered it to Alan. "What do we do now? There are people I know who will be after Kayla, and it will be unfortunate if I see them because you see, I put a dæmon on their side, not anticipating I'd come back to life so quickly, and though he is a free agent and can do what he wants, it also means he has no loyalty to me. He's from Muladhara, you understand."

"Actually, the Shadowmen stated that somehow, Leviathan's continued existence is tied to yours - specifically, that necklace of yours," Alan commented as he shook Siber's hand. "Thus, his loyalty to you is actually quite great on the grounds that he is Muladhara, because his desire to live equates directly into a desire for you to live."

Alan abruptly twisted his neck around a little (about 150 degrees), then turned back.

"Word has it we've had several of Legion's Warlocks enter our territory," Alan informed Siber. "Time for a field trip." He walked out the door, leaving it open for Siber, who followed behind him. The room was full of humming (and frequently glowing) machinery manned by armed technicians, who glanced up at Alan, before getting ready for the obvious. "Pack our s**t up, kids. Warlocks on the move. Send out a couple of simulacra to keep 'em busy." Within minutes, four human-looking machines had exited the building. Alan inscribed a pentacle atop the door frame with his moonblade. "All right, everyone through."

He pulled the door open and instead of the street, there was another room. Two of the technicians went through with handguns, followed by another two with assault rifles and one with a shotgun. Shouts of "Clear" resounded. The machinery went in next, being unpacked by kinetic magic. Siber and Alan came in last, and Alan closed the door after Linda sank into her shadow and was unceremoniously dumped on the floor in the new hideout.

"Gimme a moment to let Josh know where we are," Alan said to the technicians. "Go ahead and set up."

Alan opened the door a little and his shadow streaked away in a bolt of darkness along the ground. He closed the door. Linda groggily looked around.

"What'd... I miss?" she asked, holding her head.

"We'll have to wait a moment for Alan to communicate where we're going to," Josh informed Kayla, sitting on the bench of a bus stop and stretching. He looked at her with concern a moment later. "Are you okay? You look pale."

((Actually, Venom, Firage was the first-level dæmon, the Muladhara one, but I can work with this; no harm done. smile ))

Siber didn't care what was going on around him. He desparately needed to have a little heart-to-heart with Keldan.

<...yes.>
If Keldan had told him how to summon a seventh-level dæmon, and Leviathan was from Muladhara- well, first of all, the Hunters had their info wrong and Firage had dropped off everyone's radar, which was frightening enough, but second, that meant he had seven dæmons per chakra, and that scared him nearly to death just thinking about it.

good at chakra-summoning. Just because you released three pansy little first-level dæmons really doesn't mean a whole lot- it would just be better if you hadn't.>
He was barely suppressing the distress. This was unbelievable. Even as cool as he thought the summoning itself was, this was terrifying.

Siber went silent. Chilices; chains worn tightly around the thigh as penance. Nearly invisible under any clothing, completely so under anything loose.

he breathed. Forty-nine dæmons... and it had been that hard to summon a single level-three one? Pathelios had worn him out, easily. What insane power was this he was able to release?

(( xd Actually, this works well because at some point, I want each character to be inheriting an epic-powerful skill that explains just why Legion wanted them.))

((Ooh! Ooh! I call one where a shadow suddenly emanates a massive whirlwind of all four elements! biggrin ))

You were right.

On that order, Paul whipped out both his iPod and his handgun.

"Everybody ready for fighting?" he asked jokingly.

Ted woke up, only to find himself alone. That is, alone until he remembered the voice in his head. That made him weep, as he didn't want to be considered crazy, but there wasn't anything he could do about unless he wanted to hype himself up on so many pharmaceuticals that he couldn't remember anything anyways, but that might be a very bad idea, so he just opted to wait for someone to come here and tell him what was happening.

"Calm down man, they're nowhere near us," Josh laughed. His shadow began to creep up his body. "Ah. There we go." He stood up. "Follow me. Things that are clearly weapons stay put away until we're in actual danger. Let's move."

~~

Ted's desire to know what the hell was going on was satisfied, ironically, by the voice in his head repeating the already-given explanation.
PostPosted: Sun Oct 21, 2007 11:56 am

Ted calmly waited as the voice, what did he call himself again? Hideki, wasn't it? Well, he explained what happened, and where he was. And even though he now knew everything, including Legion being an evil bas...he couldn't quite figure out the rest of it considering Hideki switched over to Japanese to finish all his curses.

But no amount of explanation would do him any justice. Didn't I tell you to shut up? I'm already hearing voices, I don't want to be any crazier than I already am. And a mage? What kind of idiot do you take me for?

{Not once did you tell me to shut up}

Great, now I really am going crazy. All I want is to go back to my life, the way it was.

{You mean, back when your wife and daughter were killed. Oops, probably shouldn't have said that.} And he was right, because as soon as he said that, Ted immediately forced Hideki into the darkest place of his mind, the one partition he had made to help endure the pain, the only place in his mindscape that was under lock-and-key, from the outside. Hideki wasn't going to be heard from in a while.

And when Ted's sealing away of Hideki was complete, he had deprived himself of the only thing that could've stopped him from being promptly seized by Sindhlot. Ted sank into his own shadow, emerging just outside the grounds of the mansion, in a great pillar's shadow.

Finding his position transplaced, he was stunned to say the least. He had even less of an idea of where he was, and his life was slowly crumbling. Why couldn't things just go right for him? He silently cursed out whatever power it was that did this to him, yet he just silently waited for whatever fate awaited him.

Nothing happened. What to do, then? Enter this odd, out-of-place mansion? Or leave, put this behind him, and never think of it again?
PostPosted: Sun Oct 21, 2007 2:53 pm

Ted was almost to the point of tears, but then they started to spring for a very different reason. His head suddenly in pain, he was dropped to the ground. He knew where it was coming from, and he didn't understand it, at least with the pain. So, he did the one thing that he wouldn't expect to do at any one time, ever: he unlocked the partition in his mind, and let all the pain free, at the same time freeing Hideki. Then he settled down, his breathing more normal, and his head in less a state of smashed watermelon.

{Geez. I can see why you locked all that up, but did you really have to do that to me as well? I would kick you scrawny butt if I knew you wouldn't hit me back harder, and I actually had a body.} This statement caused Ted to smile a bit, and he slowly relaxed. Now he knew he was sane, if the voice could actually come back like that. Maybe he could live with the whole deal, and pass it off as some kind of mental illness to get people to underestimate him.

Paul pushed his handgun back into its holster. "You can never be too careful," he responded with a chuckle. The iPod stayed out and at hand.

"Where, precisely, are we going?"

"Alan seems to be of the opinion that we should base ourselves at our outpost in Claremont and maintain a large number of thaumaturgically prepared, ready-to-go portals to the city itself. Whether this would be best or not, he's already out in Claremont, so we just need to head over there. It'll be maybe an hour and a half in a car, and I'm no good at teleportation." Josh groaned. "Why'd he have to choose such a distant place?"

Samuel wandered over to a nearby bench and sat down. "So, Sindhlot, whats the plan on the search? We gonna split up into teams and communicate, look around as a group, sit and wait for them to come to us, or what? It seems none of us really have an idea of what to do in the way of leading the search pattern, and I don't really have one either, especially since Gurul is rambling on about flames and s**t like that right now." Samuel looked around at the others, who seemed to have grouped around him, since he had stopped. "It's a good question though. We need to find our lost companion, but it seems we have no way of really figuring that out unless we organize a search pattern, and I'm sure that none of us want to try a brute force grid pattern, because we aren't dealing with stationary objects here. Since that's the case, what'll it be?"
