Pushing her seat in for her he took a seat across from her and removed his hat using it to signal a waiter he motioned he would be over in a minute. Dante shook his head and Leaned against the chairs armrest at hearing her question. Placing his hat on his knee so as to not take up space on the table.

“To be honest? Faeriuns bedside table, top drawer, next to the vibrator… or so it seems at times.” He laughed quietly

“Here and there I suppose, I get out every now and then to fill out a contract go see a competition and whatnot.” He frowned a bit, but soldiered on and brought out his smile again sincerely.

“I can’t say as I’ve had a terribly exciting life since you’ve seen me last, a few adventures here and there concerning the girls, and Lucian, but that’s about it. How about you though, you’ve been a mist since I last saw you, surely you’ve had a few adventures in this time. Something worth writing about, at the very least you’ve already found someone to keep you warm at night. Speaking of hot bloods, how is Winter doing? I must be honest she’s grown into quite a woman.”

Nedy, a conservative and strangely prim woman, coloured slightly, her cheeks gaining a very nice, subdued shade of red, when Dante mentioned Fae's vibrator, but at the same time she simply had to laugh at the description. She did take it as a sign that their marriage was still healthy and going strong, though, something she was indeed happy to, well, assume. While he talked she listened intently, always curious to what her friends had been up to. When he mentioned someone to keep her warm, though, she shook her head a little; she was not with anyone.

"Oh, Winter is fine!" she tittered when Dante asked about her daughter with Wistomaniac. "She's all grown up and living on her own and everything now, and she seems to be living life to the full. I'm sure she'd love to see you again though; she has a membership at the shooting range so your lessons haven't been wasted."

The lessons she meant were the ones Winter, then a tiny little girl of four in an old, blue school uniform and her hair tied into two buns, had convinced Dante to give her shooting lessons, no matter how against it Nedyfay had been. It was a funny memory now; at the time, Nedy has almost torn her hair out by the roots with worry that the gun would backfire or explode or that Winter would accidentally shoot her own, or someone else's, foot.

Dante frowned slightly with a slight pout to his lips when she shook her head at his question about her being with someone. "That's not right, we should find you someone while you’re in town, and nice Chippendale or someone to have a bit of fun with."

He smiled slyly at his own comment seeking to darken her blush a bit more, then turned his attention back to her comments on Winter and nodded with approval. “That’s good to hear, it’s a skill that needs to be used, lest it degrade. If you happen to speak with her, have her come by the shop sometime I might have something for her lying around.”

Dante Motioned to the Waiter a second time and gave the same ‘one more moment’ signal to Dante, which drew a frustrated growl from Dante was he was quickly losing patience with the man.” Im sorry the service is usually quite good, I’ll probably have to take the mans kneecaps for cufflinks if he doesn’t start doing his job soon…”

And boy did he succeed, and in a rather spectacular fashion! Nedy actually hid her face behind both her gloved hands for a moment, chuckling. She was far too old for a Chippendale chap, and having a boytoy was not really her cup of tea. So avoid further embarrasment she eagerly seized the opportunity to compliment Dante on opening his own shop.

"It's already gaining a good reputation," she could tell him, having picked up on it somehow while out and about. "I would love to come by one day, and I'll bring Winter. I just hope you're not planning on selling her another firearm of any kind; she already has at least three."

Nedyfay did not mind the wait; having worked as a waitress she knew how things sometimes were. It seemed Dante, though, was impatient and forgot that he was in the company of a nurse and herbalist who did not approve of hurting others.

"And if you hurt our waiter I will not be pleased with you," she told him sternly, her voice and expression every inch the Head Nurse she used to be before. It was a thing one never really stopped doing if it had once been a regular habit.

Dante smiled at her response, it had been indeed too long since he'd played 'Make Nedy Blush' a favorite old-time pass time of his. Her comments on the shop caught him off guard though and he had to think for a second before responding. "Im surprised it has a reputation at all, we've been open less than a day yet. I suppose word of mouth is faster than the written word any day."

"That would be nice, its in a fairly nice part of the outer town."

Dante commented on her continued talk about visiting the shop.

"Three isn't nearly enough, besides a girl like her needs to coordinate with her outfits, surely you cant deny a woman a chance to shop."

Dante put his fingers together as if grasping a twig and bent it slightly as if to infer almost breaking it in response to her comments about hurting the waiter. "Not even a a little? I never was good at following orders, probably why I work alone"
PostPosted: Wed Sep 03, 2008 7:04 pm

"Most certainly not," Nedy stated. "Black goes with everything and she already has one of those. It goes into her purse rather neatly, too."

Then she broke into a grin, suddenly envisioning a gun that would compliment Winter's usual style.

"Unless, of course, you had a frilly weapon in mind, all lace and bows."

Now she just had to hope that she had not just planted an idea into Dante's mind; if he did come up with a gun covered in lace no power in the known universe would be able to stop Winter from buying and most likely showcasing it. It would be so perfect for her; sweet and deadly at the same time.

"And not even a little," she confirmed in regards to the topic of whether or not to hurt the poor waiter, "because then we would never get anywhere at all!"

“Muzzle blasts end to ignite lace… though I wouldn’t put it past Winter to want it. My old .22 I gave her too small for her now?” He pondered on what shed said and smiled again devilishly.

“I could so a lacey holster for her though…” Dante smirked at Nedy knowing full well she knew he would do it if it meant selling to Winter again.

“I could always offer Stocking top holster, but something tells me you might both order one.”

He doubted it of course Nedy didn’t seem to like guns, but that didn’t mean she was against clothing accessories. He leaned back in his seat and shot a nasty glance to the waiter who finally seemed to get the picture and began to approach their table. Dante may not be able to hurt him but he could certainly make the man realize his tip was faltering because of the wait.

Her face was a picture when Dante, of course, started listing just how he could make a gun more attractive to Winter. It also dawned on her that trying to keep Winter, a grown woman, from buying another toy would be impossible if her daughter had made up her mind. Nedyfay whimpered inwardly; children should never grow up, at least not before their mothers had passed on and were not around to realise that their children were individuals on their own, fully and completely, that one had no real influence over anymore.

"Only you," Nedyfay sighed before turning to the waiter, greeting him with a pleasant smile and a cheerful 'good afternoon'. When he had taken their order, and Nedy would kick Dante under the table if she found him too harsh, she would return to the topic of guns and daughters.

"She's still very happy with the one you gave her," she smiled, "but she seems to like variation. But tell me - how are Dakota and Dawn doing? Your hair doesn't seem to be going grey yet so they have to be good girls."

Vahn Fah
((Safe to say, we can fast forward to having all three of them inside of the Kyonuske Residence over by the Grove.))

Having had the chance to somewhat properly recuperate and clean themselves up, both Athan and Vahn would find themselves within what could pass for a 'home' for the Murmillion.

Of course, as Vahn has suspected, no one else was home at the moment.

So, the three of them pretty much had all the privacy they wanted.

Vahn himself was leaned up against the wall of the foyer, waiting for Athan to come back-- since Shin hadn't exactly needed to get anything or do anything but speak with Vahn.

The silence was a bit uncomfortable, but with his eyesight still missing, and the sting of another failure had done much to dull the usually sharp tongue of the man.

He was at a loss for words, with no other thoughts burning in his head than those of how best to get to Victor and quickly...time was running out, if Alpha's words were to be trusted.

All that Vahn and the rest of them had succeeded in doing was helping to practically give the final key Victor needed right into his lap.

If I had probably listened to Rage and Kael...this wouldn't have happened... but then again... I didn't expect..Alpha..to...

He folded his arms tightly against his chest.

Shin leaned against the wall opposite Vahn, his eyes resting on the blind man as the silence stretched between them. He had sort of hoped Athan would be here, while they were complete strangers... it was still less awkward than being alone with the Murmillion.

This was a man whom Shin, it seemed had despised forever. And that hate been returned freely enough.

Swallowing, he steeled himself to ask something he'd been meaning to ask for years... it was even more important to him now.

"You... do you love her?"

He'd told himself that the other man must, or the gods wouldn't have allowed a bonding of souls. But he knew too well that the gods loved tragedy as much as any happy ending. Some more than others.

He would never be Sierra's lover. He'd accepted that, his feelings were unrequited. But he wouldn't accept that a man who was so base, held his Lady's heart.

How could he have treated her the way he had?

If he got her back, what would change? Or would he continue to play the seducer and ultimately, the betrayer?

If he was going to work with him, he needed an answer. He needed reassurance.

"They are good, fairly grown up by this point, and as independent as their parents. Knowing Dakota she probably has her nose in a book somewhere sunny, and Devon has already picked the lock on my store room and is off causing trouble in some third world nation somewhere with the contents."

Dante responded before turning tot he waiter and smiling slightly, admittedly he didn't feel like smiling but he valued his shins, and as such wasn't about to make a scene with the waiter. Ordering some wine he turned his attention back to Nedyfay.

"Latent isnt a bad town, one of the few places you can go these days without having to deal with the undead. Dirty things need to irradiated..." He growled as he spoke about them. "But I suppose it was Fate that brought me here after some time in the Barthavos hills. What about you, where have your travels taken you?"

Pleased with the man behaving himself, Nedyfay finally took off her ever-present black gloves. She seemed to have remembered the names of his daughters wrongly; there were too many D's around and she was sure there was a Dawn in there somewhere too. Dakota's middle name, maybe?

"I haven't been travelling," she admitted truthfully; she had been living a very boring, domestic life. It had made her happy, though, so she did not regret it. "I've been living with Bryon, playing at being a little homemaker. Worked on getting back to normal after a bout of depression, that kind of thing."

She did not like making a big deal of the fact that she had almost starved herself to death and gone slightly off her rocker; she was all better now except the occasional relapse of forgetting to eat for a day. On the topic of Latent not being a bad town, she nodded; living in Barton she knew what dealing with undeads was like. A pain, and dangerous.

"I wonder how long it will take before they're all gone," she mused, eyebrows knitting together just a little. Undeads was high on the list of things that Nedyfay did not approve of; dead things should stay dead, buried, and immobile. "What did you do out in the Barthavos?"
PostPosted: Thu Sep 04, 2008 4:21 pm

"Ive no idea actually, that's why I'm here I'm going to apply for the Latent contract of its defense. Who knows if they'll accept my bid, but its worth a try." Dante mused considering just how far he still had to go in order to finish even a prototype of his bid... but there seemed to be time yet, though how much was known to very few.

"In Barthavos I spent a lot of time learning about forging arrowheads, and just how much I dislike Giant Desert Snakes, though they are tasty..." Dante smiled at his response remembering the feat he had with the wild boar and Snake meat on the spit, far more than he could have possibly eaten in a week let alone a evening.

"You never change, you know that?" Nedyfay smiled. Imagening this man just having a nine to five job and then going home to wife and kids seemed to be so out of character. She was happy that, if anyone, Fae could actually appreciate that and not try to force him into a 'normal' life like some women would. "But it's good to know even you have some things you are uncomfortable with some things. Just so that you aren't the very epidome of manhood that other men will feel threatened by, I mean."

"There was desire at first..." His voice carried through the room, even as he remained physically unresponsive.

"Passion...suspicion...

Jealousy...anger and betrayal!" He fingers tightened even as he raised his head. He could feel the bitter taste in his mouth, the coppery feeling he knew all too well.

"When love is just a game for the newest body, there can be no trust. Without trust, there can never be love.

Jealousy... yes jealousy itself...drove me mad.

It blinded me to what was important." He pushed off the wall, walking a bit forward. "Focusing on the shadowed bodies that were all too happy to deceive and lead me on... I ignored her and dropped into the madness."

He clutched at his wrist, feeling more than a bit awkward. "Even if she won't ever forgive me... I still love her."

Shin shifted uncomfortably under the weight of Vahn's confession. Under the weight of his own feelings and frustration. Frustration at Vahn. At his damned brother. At Ra'kar. At the very gods who seemed content to throw their servant against the rocks just to see how much she could take. And at himself.

His love had never been enough to make her happy. Never would be. Feelings weren't enough. Even his vow to protect her as long as he breathed--

She had spent her life protecting others. Fighting the darkness of others as well as within herself, walking in shadow so that others could walk in the light. A defender. He had thought, 'But who protects the protector? Who will keep her safe and watch her back?' He had thought himself. Taken it upon himself to guard her while she guarded others.

He had failed her.

THEY had failed her.

He had been so naive, and she had paid the price. His fists clenched as he stared down at them.

He would get her back or die trying. He had to believe that she somehow yet lived... the woman he'd known for so long. She was a survivor. She had to be--

He had so much he needed to say, to apologize for.

And looking at Vahn, he knew that the other man too, needed to beg forgiveness.

"I don't know if she told you..."

He took a deep breath before continuing. It was hard, to help the man whom you'd spent so long hating, win the very woman you'd spent even longer loving. But they were meant for one another, and if he truly cared about her, then he'd do anything to see her happy.

'I wouldn't even care if she were furious and hated me at this point... so long as she was okay...'

He shook his head. He would help Vahn, help Vahn get her back and return a smile to that face.

"Elves, we might explore relationships with multiple beings, but once we decide to... what you humans call 'wed', we join for life. Never have I heard of an elf straying from their bonded.

She'll give you no cause for jealousy, she'll not feed the madness. But she may ease it."

He looked up, green eyes flicking to the other man.

"We all let her down Vahn. We all left her alone in the very darkness that she fought to protect us all from... Every one of us who claimed to love and care for her, all who call her friend... we all share the blame."

Pushing off the wall, Shin crossed awkwardly, clasping the other man on the shoulder.

"Promise me, on your solemn oath, that you will show her the same dedication she shows you... and I will help you get your princess back."
