"It's no more strenuous than my regular day. In any case, it's the least I can do for a friend." Mercury replied truthfully. "Kakashi and Alina are close, aren't they...those two bonding wouldn't be surprising at all."
She glanced outside at the moon. "Well I think I'll take my leave for the night; but feel free to find me whenever you need me." She wished Mairyela a good night, before heading up the stairs. She got to her room, shoved the sword aside to the foot of the bed, and fell asleep. She didn't awake till around Seventh Rise the next day.

Mairyela thanked the Keeper again, bid her good night, and saw her to the hall. It was then that she realized how tired she was. For the first time in a long while, her feet actually pained her. Giving the office one last look, she smiled and nodded to herself and left.
A short trip to her quarters later, she didn't even remember laying down on her bed when it was suddenly day again. "The night was too short" she mumbled to herself as she prepared for her day around a large yawn. Today was the day. She had promised as soon as things were ready, Alina would be tested. Figuring it a special occasion, she chose one of her best dresses. It was a deep silver, slashed with blue on the hem and adorned with an intricate design of blue and gold thread of birds and flowers. It had been her mothers, and she had had the hem designed after she herself was raised. A fitting occasion, indeed.
Flipping her long black hair over her shawl, she went to Mercury Sedai's quarters. She hoped she was not disturbing the Keeper as she knocked on the womans door.

Mercury had just gotten dressed, and dragged a brush through her hair. She opened the door, and smiled at Mairyela. "Good day Mistress of Novices." She ushered the woman into the sitting room. "Ready to begin your duties? The trainees were told last night at dinner, so they should all acknowledge you now."

She smiled as the Keeper informed her of the novices, smoothing her skirts. "I am more than ready. It will certainly take some getting used to, but all in time." She paused a moment, then said, "If possible, I would like to see Alina tested for the shawl today. From what I've seen in her, she is ready. I hope you aren't too busy today."

Mercury paused in thought, before nodding. "Yes, today is good. I'll go inform the others, and we will meet you in the testing room in three quarters of an hour, if that's alright." Mercury had complete faith that Mairyela remembered the procedure and formalities from her own testing. "I will see you below, then." She smiled and excused herself. This was a message she was going to do herself; she didn't want an overexcited novice or Accepted accidentally warning Alina.
Forty minutes later, she and six other sisters were in the room. A few had been surprised, but all had been willing, and free. Sanar and Ryelle had a wicked look on their faces; Mercury had overheard them earlier. The portion of the test with the man would still be present, but this time, there would be both a man and a woman, doing the same thing, at the same time, to distract Alina. They decided that Shanoa, from the Gray, would be the one to place the Rembrance Weave, and Mistilne would be the one to offer Alina Healing at the end, if she passed. They felt Mairyela and Alina approach, and quickly stepped into the traditional semi-circle. They assumed the masks, and faced the doors, waiting.

Pynk is quite talented; she made our new banner with the Tower on it. *praises Pynk* ))

Alina held her breath, and walked through the double doors. As the Amyrilin begain to say the lines, as she knew them. she ansewred, but all she could think was that she had been waiting for this moment for a long time. As Alina began to disrobe, she relized how very very cold it was. calm...serenity...i must be calm. no matter what they do to me as the star was drawn, someone taped the back of her head. Her eyes widened a little with surprise, but she stayed calm. wool-head! of coruse they arnt going to tell you EVERYTHING. somethings have to stay secret.
Alina steped thru the rings and...where am i? how did i get here? where are my clothes???? Alina was confused, but rememberd that she must stay calm. she didnt know why...but she must show no outward sign of confusion. Taking a look around, she knew where she was. I'm in the WestWood! she saw a stump with clothes on it. picking it up, and putting it on, she relized that it was normal Two Rivers clothes. A bit tight around the hips and bosom. but it felt comfortable.
walking thru the WestWood, and out to the road she went towards Emonds Feild. the walk took hours longer then it should. finally she got to the Green, and in the middle....the star....walking over to the star, not holding back, and not running forward. She begain the weave.
suddenly, out of the Inn, her mother came. Screaming at her "Alina! where are you clothes? why are you standing naked as the day you were born, on the Green??" Alina looked down. She WAS naked. but i thought....i thought what?? "I am sorry Mother...i will..." she begain. "you will go into the house this instant and get some clothes on you HUSSY! WHORE! TRAMP!" Alina knew that she could show no outer sign that she was effected by this. but with the weave she was making, she finished quickly and wraped her mother up in air. "I'm sorry mother...but i cannot allow you to interfear. If i choose to walk naked in the green...that is my choice. I am sorry for what happened...but it is not my fault." The woman glared at her and screamed after he as she walked twooards the next point.
and into... where am i know? and where are my clothes? all remembered is that she had finished 1 of a hundread weaves. and that she must stay calm....
what seemed like hours later, Alina came to the finally place. In what seemed like a palace, she was naked. Not for the first time..the first time?? she remembered that she had just finished 99 of 100 weaves... 99 weaves? and why am i so cut and brused? her arm was even broken, hanging limp at her side. carfully she put on the golden dress, slashed with cream, and the cream slippers. and walked slowly out onto the court yard. seeing the star she walked over to it, not hurrying, not holding back. and begain the last...and final weave.
as she started, her father appeared. "Alina, dearest, you must help...must help me...i dont...i dont know what...what im doing?" Alina was lifted a foot in the air by weaves she couldnt see. "Father...i wish i could help...but i.." she started, she was still weaving oh dear, i want to cry...i want to help him...now that i can...that i know how...but i cant...i have to finish this weave. after i will heal him...after "father i will..please put me down." she fell on her bottom, still holding the weave, she got up gracfully and worked faster on the weave, "father...hold yourself...father." her father begain to scream. Lightning flashed from the clear blue sky, Rain and wind...a tree burst into fire. and her father screamed...and screamed... "Father...." she must remain calm...utter calm...suddenly it all stopped. and her father lay dying on the ground... "alina....Alina..." the shower of sparks fell down around her as she finished the weave...such a beautiful show...for such a sad moment... she wanted to run and help him...to hug and kiss him and tell him everything was all right...but she had to leave...the exit..."Father...i love you father... always..." she walked away from her father, not holding back...not hurrying forward... and...
she fell through the rings, and everything...everything came back.

Mercury was glad Alina had passed, but none of the sisters were allowed to say anything until Mairyela had formally ended the testing. In her opinion, it had been a fair test. She recalled that during her own testing, the sisters had wanted to see just how much she could handle, and had thrown at her what she felt were the worst possibilities. She suspected that Clarissa, Azalea, and a few odd others who the Tower felt would become important had been tested similarly.
Oh...I'll have to find another Green to stand in the ceremony this evening. Mistline looked over to Mairyela, waiting for her to end the test, and thereby grant permission for her to offer Healing to Alina.

((*blushes in embarrasment* Thanks for the giude, Merc. I'm only just finishing the Crown of Swords, though I have been trying to find info on the web.))
Standing back from the ter'ang'real, Mairyela watched Alina as the test went on. As the final weaving came, she felt a warm pride fill her as the last weave was woven perfectly. She knew Alina could do it; doubt never flitting through her mind.
As Alina fell through the rings, Mairyela nodded. "It is done." She hoped her clap was formal enough as she wanted to laugh like a fool. "Let no one speak of what has passed here. It is for us to share in silence who experienced it. It is done." Again she clapped, and looked down at the woman on the floor. "Alina Al'Mora, you will spend tonight in contemplation of the burdens you will take up on the morrow, when you don the shawl of an Aes Sedai. It is done." Again she clapped, and Mistline went over, kneeling next to the girl, weaves of Healing flowing over Alina.
Mairyela nodded again, but to herself then. She was glad that things had gone well. Women had died in that test, and she breathed a sigh of relief as Alina's wounds disappeared.
((I know you all hated waiting on me, lol. *glances at Ali's post* Why aren't you allowed to donate anymore? Parent thing?))

Kakashi sat in the main dining hall, nervously waiting on news of Alina. He had heard she was taking the test to become an Aes Sedai. That was quite a while ago and he was beginning to wonder if she had somehow failed. He had confidence that she wouldn't though. Still, he couldnt help but be nervous, his leg twitching up and down a bit. Soon, he thought. Soon he would hear news of Alina's success and he could stop worrying.

One by one, the sisters departed, giving word to Mairyela that they would return that night to finish Alina's raising. When they'd gone, leaving only Alina and Mairyela, Mercury approached. "Congratulations; you have earned this."
((It was in New Spring. And no need to be embarassed; I sure as heck wouldn't have remembered. Thankfully, we have the Compendium! The raising from Novice to Accpt is what I need to find...It's Kaki! He's returned!! *also looks at Ali about the donate thing*))

((novice to Accepted is on book two. Nayneve's raising. No Igor wont let me, we just bought WoW and the expansion pack, and we are getting a membership for it, 19.99 euros. dunno what that ids in dollars...a month.))
ALina smiled weakly at Mairyela and Mercury. "I know im not sapposed to say aything...but...who ever thought up that test in the middle with Dupre.... that was just cold-hearted... and my father...i didnt know anyone here knew me that well." She felt like crying, she probably would tonight. Dupre had appeared in the 55th weave, running towards her with Trollocs at his back, begging her to help him, that he wasnt really a DarkFriend, he just wanted to save his sister, and that he loved her. It was fair. She missed him, and it hurt to think of him.
but at least that emptyness in the back of my head will be filled soon with a new love. "i can...take a Warder as soon as i get my shawl?" she tried to ask casually.

Mairyela nodded at the sisters as they passed, then joined the others. She listened as Alina described her fears, but she had overcome them. For that she was glad. At her question, she grinned.
"When you swear your Oaths and have the shawl around your shoulders, of course you may choose a Warder. All the better if you have one sooner than later, what with everything that's been going on." She paused then went on. "I hate to run, but I need to speak with someone about tonight. We'll need another sister of the Green to replace you Mercury Sedai." She turned to Alina and smiled. "Congradulations. I hope the night comes swiftly for you."
Turning, she left the room, and walked back to the Tower. Once there, she passed through the main hall and past the dining hall. Glancing, she caught sight of Kakashi. A bit in a hurry, she merely smiled and nodded at him. She hoped he took it in the right way, as he looked quite nervous.
Climbing the stairs, she wound her way up to the Green 'headquarters'. Rapping on the door, she was answered by the very woman she wanted to see. Ravinelle was quite tall, with long black curls and a hooked nose that made her seem a preditor. The Saldean woman seemed surprised to see her, but hid it in an instant. Adjusting her shawl, she closed the door behind her and came with her back down the hallway. She always had a gift for reading peoples intentions.
"I need you to sit in for the Keeper for a raising to the shawl tonight." she said, and they began their chat as they walked.
