But is the gun also suspended 15 meters above the ground? If it is not, then the bullet will go over the target as it would be having an upward force as well as horizontal since it it aimed at the target...

Once again, the question should really be read as "I AM INCREDIBLY VAGUE. DISCUSS."

And even still, the bullet will strike its target. As long as the gun is aimed AT the target, the bullet will always descend at the same rate as the target (9.8 meters/second squared) and inevitably hit the target once it has covered the horizontal distance.

I disagree. Some of the force is in the vertical direction. Shouldn't this change the magnitude of the force in the downward direction? I'm seeing the bullet path as parabolic in shape with forces in the horizontal and vertical direction.

Well, I was thinking that since the bullet was being fired at the target, but because of the force of the thing leaving the gun, it would probably go straight. I'm pretty sure that the gun is on the ground, while the target is in the air...though I'm really not sure, since it was pretty vague.

Once the bullet leaves the barrel, there really aren't any upward forces anymore, except maybe air pressure or whatever, so it wouldn't change the magnitude of the downward force. A is actually the right answer, assuming the typical setup, so I'm not sure why I said B, though I think I was thinking of a laser gun at the time, even though it said bullet.

GAH WTF. Yolanda got the credit! Hooray! Do we really need to be talking about ridiculous hypothetical situations? ><

What credit? I didn't even get the test back yet!

An object that stays in motion will tend to stay in motion and since the bullet will be moving quite fast when it leaves the barrel, it'll go straight for quite some time before starting to come down...I'm assuming. Then again, we could be on the moon for all I know...

Uh... I think A is the answer... ^^"

Rawr. *isn't sure if he would be a god or whatever Kiyo is* I are confused at the system...

Perhaps you should make a thread, whomever developed the system? xd

I can tell you for certain that the lateral motion of the bullet, fired perfectly horizontal, does not affect its downward motion. Therefore, a bullet fired from a level gun would hit the ground at the same time as one dropped from the gun's height when it was fired. *shrugs and tries to leave the subject be*....
