Wizard World Toronto is really getting the short end of the stick, guest-wise. Comics-wise, there's some good guests, but they're almost all people who I've met before at other Toronto-area cons. Really, the only big ones who aren't Toronto based are Gail Simone, Phil Jiminez, Adi Granov and Mike Wolfer, and I'm embarrassingly poorly versed in Gail Simone. (I'll probably at least pick up Secret Six before the Con, since I've been meaning to anyways) As for Entertainment guests, the biggest draw, Eliza Dushku, just canceled. (Wizard, despite using her in all the promo material for the con, didn't announce this; just quietly removed her from the site. I had to hear about it on CBR. stare ) There's still Jewel Staite and Doug Jones, but I'm not all that excited about them. The rest of the guest list was filled out with Reality TV stars and that guy from the Brady Bunch. I guess I just assumed that since it's Wizard, the guest list would at least be impressive. (I mean, Anaheim got Ted Raimi AND Stan Lee.) But between this and the way I've heard that they run their cons, I can't even bring myself to get excited about it anymore. I mean, I'll still go, since I'm in Toronto for a concert that day anyways, (Billy Talent, Alexisonfire and Against Me! whee ) but I'm kind of disappointed.
Also, if Avatar wins Best Picture tonight, and you guys don't see me for a while, I probably had a fatal brain aneurysm.

Wizard is going down the shitter. They sold their biggest convention because they're pretty ******** financially, along with a couple others. I'm surprised they kept the TorontoCon. They also started a Scew The Artists (Even More Than We Do Already) policy. I'm waiting to see what happens to the convention portion of the brand, I don't see it lasting that much longer if this keeps up.
And if Avatar wins for best picture, I won't be surprised but I will be extremely annoyed.

Katherine Kane Thanks for the well wishes guys!
Zack, I'd say it's probably a good sign that you were actually able to sell some posters without even having a comic yet! It's a long hard road in comics, but so far from your updates it seems like you're pretty dedicated to doing whatever it takes to make it! Thank you. Yeah I'm in this for the full haul. I'm just sick of each year having nothing to show for it, and just dreaming about getting something published. I did talk with Scott Chitwood (co-founder of Red 5 Comics) and he seem interested in it. Said when ever I have it ready, they would draw up a contract and publish it. I'm heavily considering it.

Ditto on that.
I'm getting pretty bored -and frustrated- with my job too. The atmosphere isn't bad but sheesh, sometimes it feels so... slow and fruitless XP

on another note, I just got ANOTHER statement from the insurance company stating that I now owe more. Why the hospital waited 4 weeks or so to submit another bill for lab tests, is beyond me. As many charges as I have for lab tests, I shouldn't need another one for years.
I love how I have insurance for once in my life and I'm still sitting on top of a pile of bills I can't pay. True, 7k is a lot better than 35k but still. I have a doctor's appointment today. Since it's considered post op, it's free. However, i worry about the appointment they have me scheduled for on the 24th. It's not post op and they planned a smorgasbord of tests for me on that day. I really can't afford any more crap. Seriously

Just got back from the doctor's office. She said the incision is looking the best it ever has. She didn't have to give me any more prescriptions either, just said to continue using the Betadine 2x a day for 30 minutes. I see her in again in 2 weeks for all the testing.
