Hmm... there's an interesting thought to look at.
Daemon replied thoughtfully.
Granted hopefully it doesn't snow that much... well it generally doesn't it's just very cold in arctic deserts./i]

Gion blinked again. Arctic? he repeated curiously. What's that?

It's a place thats very cold that has snow instead of sand and is completely barren... some of the land isn't even land it's great slabs of ice...
Daemon explained.
Never been there though... not back home.

I can see why, Gion chuckled, beginning to climb the towering drift. What sorts of places DID you travel, though?

I've been to island nations..... one of which Yume comes from I recall. I have been far to the East where silk is made, and some interesting spices can be found. I've been North, but not to the arctic as I said... but people there wear furry caps in the winter. To the west in Gaia's most crowded trading hubs both in day and night. South is interesting... the rainforests are lovely... abid.. quite humid. Been through the sky to see the sky cities of course.
Daemon paused for a moment.
All kinds of places.

Gion grinned and kept on climbing.
Maybe someday I'll be able to claim something similar, he suggested happily. That I traveled all the Four Lands ... and perhaps even beyond.
That was one of his dreams.

Yes that would make good stories for the future won't it? And it's good for a scholar as well to be there... not enough in just books... fortunately some books just make things out to be too good or too bad to be true.
He seemed to sigh at that.

Gion grinned. Well once we get you out of there, I promise to give you the honours of writing my adventures, he chuckled silently, still fighting to reach the top of the drift. How would you like that?

Daemon laughed.
I would like that very much! It would be fun! Besides not many Gaians end up in another world like this.

Gion chuckled, glad he had made Daemon feel better.
I daresay only a very few, he agreed cheerfully, finally making it to the top of the drift where he took a seat and looked around. And none so safely - if I may put it that way - as you.
He was nearly in the treetops ... he looked toward the north and was happy to see a few houses, though they were very - very - far away. Several days' journey at least ...

See anything?

You need a sled for going down hills.....

Or a way to avoid them altogether, Gion nodded. Yes ... I see some houses ... miles and miles and miles away ...
He looked around to see if he could make his way there without having to climb over so many drifts. It seemed as if they were connected some of them, and he might be able to make some headway if he just walked along the tops of them, following them like a maze ...

I take it this area the people are completely cut off during the winter.
Daemon ventured.
I can't see anything travelling through in this time.. not unless you put skis on a wagon instead of wheels, but this deep there is the fear of horses sinking into the snow.

To tell the truth, they're always cut off, Gion chuckled. They live out here for a specific purpose - to avoid other people when at all possible.

Isn't that loney?
Daemon asked quiet curious, it was true he and Yume lived on the outskirts of the city, but only because they found it too crowded. He would be lonely without other people visitng.
