"Ok since the ships are going to be a susprize, we can't really get the upper hand there, so on to option two. Can we get a pilot advantage, whats their roster look like?" Art asked.

((but Gendis was the one who faught them... gonk ))

Gendis got a drink the barkeep had dropped in front of him and set it down by Zendia. "There you go." He turned back to Art. "I don't know much about them, I just got here. They seem like jerks, and that's about it. If we're pitted against each other, though, we may end up piloting ties... and they work a lot different from Y-Wings, I'm betting. So we could log some practice in Tie sims."

He looked around, then sat back down on his stool and leaned heavily on the counter. "They seem easily angered... we could assign a more nimble member of the team to harrass them, but not shoot to kill. Tail them, cut them off, pepper them, get them worked up. Piss 'em off. If they get angry, they'll probably get sloppy, which works to our advantage." He leaned back. "That's all I can offer based on what I know. Along that strategy, the surest shot should stick to the nible one. They'll coordinate so that the first leads the targets right into the line of sight of the heavy-hitter for easy kills."

He sighed. "Of course, that's only two against Ruby so far. The rest of emerald... they should provide cover, keep the enemy occupied. Shoot at good opportunities, but leave the serious targeting to the duo assigned to the task."

He took a sip of his own drink before continuing. "They may figure this pattern out after we do it a couple times, maybe 3 or 4 times if we're lucky. But at that point, we should be able to capitalize on our superior numbers, assuming we haven't lost anyone. There's no way to guarantee we have no casualties, so in the event we do lose people, the duo will break and go into normal formations instead of continuing. That should be the best way to offer protection for them, while increasing our chances of survival."

He took another sip, then breathed deeply. "Damn, I think way too much for my own good."

((Um... FP? Yea... Orrin's not in his room. Read the last paragraph of the post. He's left the room, door wide open, as always. About the only thing there you'll find is a big mess, but oddly enough, the picture of Amy, the 11 year old girl, in the middle of the room. It's about the only prized possession of Orrin besides his datapad. Right now, he's out having fun screwing with som fabool and feeding them to the snails, as proven by this post.

Quote:
With a small simple slip into a pocket, Orrin left the room, not noticing the picture fall out of a hole, and onto the ground, left wide in the open just like the room he normally vacated.

But, I'll work your post in so you won't have to edit.. gimme a sec..))

Orrin had already left the base, in search of entertainment. Fabool floated harmlessly around, bouncing into the blba trees, as Orrin caught a couple. Feeling bored, he found a carnivorus snail, and well.... fed them as sacrifices to the snail in hopes of entertainment.

Though it left him more bored than ever, since the snails are about as slow at eating as they are at moving...

Heading back to the base was a little more interesting, as he got to see a snailfight, but overall, more than bored by the time he reached his room. He closed the door, plopping on the bed. Of course, the sudden interruption of Kefka made him fall out scrambling to nab the picture on the floor, and rush to the door to open it as Kefka delivered his message.

"Listen, it's not nice to barge into someone's room without knocking. Nevermind that, kid. I'll help you out, especially since I want to break some noses... off of their cockpits, mind you! But I think I have something you may wish to look at before you consider anything smart."

Orrin pulled his datapad out, and turned it back on. "Its the ABCS, or Advanced Battle Combat Simulator. It is a little something I've been working on. I need to test it out. It works both in simulator and real fighting, and its built to last most things, except maybe space crashes. Either way, I want to test out the capabilities on it. It will strategize for anything from patrol routes to attacks on the entire imperial fleet. Not of course it can predict the future, but it constantly compiles data about ship movements and flight patterns, and recomputes every two seconds on the best course of fire. It may prove useful in kicking the s**t out of ruby squadron."

He sighed as well, unsure of why, but had a strong likeness for the kid at the moment. "It seems the squad is in trouble. I think I have a solution though, but it won't be pretty.... at all. I suggest we let them decide who they want to fly with as well as who leads them. You'll probably keep leading, but the rest of us... well... I dunno. Maybe you should assign them to spots or something. It just ain't working out by who scored what. I mean... nevermind."

Orrin turned, but not before adding, "Just to make sure I show some... respect for rank, I'll have to add Emerald Twelve reporting in. But to hell if I'll call you sir."

With that, he slammed the door, pissed off as ever.

"YOu call me sir and I swear I'll break your nose. ALlright, I can give your ABCD or whatever a try. How many do you have? As for your other suggestion, they can pick their wingmates, I could care less, but I'm still leading. Thanks to those SDs theyure pretty pissed at me so I gotta get back on my feet. You been given a droid yet?"

Orrin locked the door and turned the com off as Kefka talked outside the door, before plopping down on his bed and snoozing, waiting for the time to get back up to possibly help out.

((Duh... I personally would have thought that Kefka would get the door slam being the end... but... youth before wisdom... He's old. He gets to be cranky. if you consider 36 to be a long time being a convict...))

"Thanks," Zendia chirped as Gendis offered her the drink. She listened to Gendis talk tactics, a subject she felt that she didn't know a lot about. "Are you suggesting that we should fly TIEs against those Ruby fellows?" she asked him.
"Of course, I'll agree with you on one thing: the Rubys are jerks." With a mild groan, she continued, "One of them said a few things to me that weren't quite," she paused for effect, "Appropriate." She took another sip, and then added in, "Eventually, he got a knee to the groin for his trouble."
Rusty, whom was within earshot, gave the electronic equivalent of a laugh. Zendia also added with a snicker, "And Rusty conviently 'leaked' some oil,"

(( oh yeah ... do protocol droids a la C-3PO sometimes hang out around here? I just thought of something hella funny! xd ))
PostPosted: Sat Aug 06, 2005 12:16 am

((the barkeep can be a protocol droid converted for serving drinks, if you like... XD ))

Gendis laughed himself. "I was suggesting that we might be required to fly ties, as this is one side against the other. Plus, we don't know what ships we'll get. It's best to be prepared."

After pondering what Gendis said for a while Art spoke up. "Well, once agian, we're back to speculation. This is getting us no where! Since we don't know what is going to be in that Sim we should just be ready for anything. So, DO they have TIE sims on this base? If so lead the way."
PostPosted: Mon Aug 08, 2005 2:28 am

Gendis took on an enlightened look. "Well, if they don't have tie sims, we'll be able to know whether we'll be piloting ties or not. Or at least we'll know we won't be piloting them. If they do have them, though, it would make the chance very likely. But I don't know this place very well... perhaps we should ask someone who does."

((well, im asleep...so...do we fastforward to fight time or do you guys wanna drag this out a little))
PostPosted: Mon Aug 08, 2005 2:16 pm

((Well if we did decide there are TIE sims on the bace I was going to do somthing along the lines of paging the rest of the squad and cooking up a quick sim. If not I was going to also have my character hit the sack, so, umh yeah, drag it out."

"So who do you think would know this base well enough? AND be WILLING to TELL US. I realy don't want to have to beat it out of some desk-jocky."

((actually, I dont see how a fledgling squad like Emerald would have access to TIE sims. We're in the early days of the rebellion and TIE workings is coveted information at the time.))
