Kallisto smiled and helped him up, though her cheery manner became uncertain when he said she could join him. "I don't want to interfere.... I appreciate the match, really, but you don't have to endure my company - that is, please don't feel obligated to invite me along. A simple, 'so long' or somesuch would suffice." She hoped she wasn't coming across rudely but he always seemed to be surrounded by his close friends and she didn't feel like she'd fit in. So rather then intrude, Kallisto thought it best to offer him an out that wouldn't cause him to lose face.

Grave frowned a tad crossly at her response. "Kallisto, I never say anything trite. I would not have offered if I did not mean it. I am straightforward." He shrugs and gestured to himself. "I am Melancholic, lies to not become me." He cleared his expression with an easy smile and continued in a tone far less like a lecture. "That said, you don't have to feel oblidged to join me. If you've other plans or somewhere you'd like to be, by all means, continue on your way. But if you're looking for something to do, and wouldn't mind some good company, I'll be in the Library." Grave smiled and offered to shake her hand in thanks.

She blinked, she had just been trying to be polilte..... She paused before shaking his hand, her smile far less confident then during the sparring match. "I don't really have anything to do. I don't really know that many people and, well, I just don't want to impose...." She took a deep breath and made her smile stronger, "But I'd like to go. I haven't been in the library very much. Thank-you."

"Oh, haven't you?" Grave looked positively excited, like a child in a candy shop. "It's positively breathtaking! And Requiem! You'll love him, he's the Librarian...oh, he's delightful!" Grave had been talking in a gush, and took a moment to run a hand through his hair and calm himself. He took her hand and could not dim the broad smile beaming across his face. "Kallisto, I'll show you around! It will be wonderful!"

She chuckled. Grave's exuberance reminded her of when anybody asked her about Alchemy. It was just so much fun and so interesting you had to really control yourself or you'd keep going forever. "Alright then! Thank-you." Indeed, the only time she'd ventured into the library was to look up a manual on alchemy because she hadn't gotten enough in class. But nobody had been around and the shelves had seemed to close in on her.

Perhaps with someone there, she'd enjoy it more. And who was this Requiem? He had piqued her curiousity if not about the books but about the librarian.

A Lover's Duel!!!
An April Event.

Lelaus eyed the Empyreans as they entered the Arena, come to watch the duel between two of the City's greatest Grigori. There were Zeros, looking forward to watching their teacher's fight, Ones coming back to visit old friends and beloved Professors, Twos wanting to see the potential of true Grigori, and even Threes who'd seen what these two gentlemen could do in the heat of battle, and wanted to see how they'd pitch their skills against one another.

The bleachers filled up and Tryna and her assistants stood at each level selling snacks and drinks. As people got seated, they clustered with their friends, bought snacks to nibble on, and drinks to quench screaming throats. They were getting prepared to cheer, to be awed, to be amazed.

It was a fair match, and any bet on who would win was anyone's fair guess. Predicting the outcome of events such as this was forbidden, and that suited Lelaus' purposes just fine. He ran his fingers through the wad of tickets he had in his pocket. Lelaus was going to take bets. Many had already hedged their bets with one or the other Professor, but he wanted to see if he could gather the votes of a few late-comers.

So, now the question came down to who would win...

Dameron or Elias?

"It's got to be Dameron," Antigone said with a vigorous nod, her golden eyes bright with excitement. Could there be anything more entertaining than to see such two beautiful, talented Empyreans battle over a simple lovers' spat that could be solved with a few simple words? The Sanguine thought not. Especially when the weather was so lovely, and she was going to be surrounded by friends and family.

"You're crazy," Blayk said with equal fervor. She hadn't had either Elias or Dameron just yet, but the serpentine professor was quiet... And it was the quiet ones you had to watch out for, weren't they? "Dameron's pretty- and that's the only reason you're pulling for him," she teased with a grin. "Elias definetly has my vote, though I think the two of them falling into bed with each other to settle the battle privately is a pretty safe bet too."

Cashimer choked out a laugh at Blayk's comment. "I'll have to go with Antigone on this one, Blayk. Elias is just as lovely as Dameron anyway," he added with an impish grin, clearly in a good mood. The young Phlegmatic Journeyman didn't seem to force the cheer and confidence, at least not today. "Though Antigone does get stars in her eyes when she talks about Professor Dameron."

"I'm going to agree with Anti," chirped a rather merry voice as Ubel and Lior made their way over to the trio of 'siblings'. Ubel smiled happily at his friend, nodding to Blayk and Cash as he took a seat near them. "Dameron is simply far too good to lose, you know?"

"Unless Elias completely beats his a**, of course," drawled out Lior as he munched on a snack, leaning forward in his seat to look down into the Arena, eager for things to begin. "Elias better win. I placed bets."

Antigone laughed as Ubel and Lior came to join her, and her 'siblings'. "Hallo, Ubel. It's nice to see that someone else agrees with me as well. Cash and I have been trying to bring Blayk to the right side of the betting, she's standing firm."

"As if I know any other way to stand," the tomboyish Choleric said with an impish grin, holding out a hand to Ubel. "I'm Blayk. You're Ubel, right? Anti says you're a good friend of hers."

Cash laughed at Lior, shaking his head. "I think you've put your money on the wrong man, Lior. Dameron is obviously the one to bet upon. In fact, I'll make you a wager on it. What should the terms be, friend?"

Yambati trailed behind the other Empyreans, looking around with interest. He had never been very interested in battle, but now... well, his mind could still change, definitely.

In fact, the boy even decided to place a bet, caught up as he was in the excitement. It was a strange thing for him, to feel as if he were a part of the crowd, and he enjoyed it while it lasted.

"Elias." Something about the Grigori's quiet personality and serpentine form (something he... related to? Odd thought, and he wasn't sure exactly where it had come from...) made him feel almost... certain.

So, a small little smug smile on his face, Yambati hurried after the others.

Astaroth milled about, trying to decide where to meet Danna. They had agreed to make it a game but he wasn't exactly at home in the Arena where something he disliked occurred regularly. His purpose in being here was not so much to watch the duel but to accompany Danna. He'd even gone so far as to place a bet with Lelaus, though if he won anything he wasn't sure what he'd do with it. Primped and glowing, he settled on a pair of chairs that were hidden from view as one entered the Arena but close enough that neither of them would have any trouble following the sequence of events. Sitting upright and proud, he watched the Arena fill up and began to wonder why this Duel was drawing so very much attention.

---

Kallisto bobbed along, the path to the Arena well known to her as she hummed to herself. She nodded to Lelaus as sh passed by secure in the knowledge that her bet had safely been placed. This would be interesting and an excellent opportunity to learn! No more theory or books to read, she'd be able to watch the various aspects of their education come together in a flowing whole. Her smile was broad as she entered after the others and looked for somebody to sit with. Perhaps Grave? They had vowed to see each other to the top and this duel -was- featuring Grigori. She nodded and hung about, determined to sit with Grave, group or no group.

---

Aureus and Argentum were in a merry mood, arms hooked and steps light. They nodded and greeted those they passed, courteous and gentlemanly as they wove through the stream of people descending on the Arena. They had sought out Lelaus as soon they'd heard there would be a duel and placed a bet in favor of their favorite professor, Elias. Elias would win, they were sure.

Spotting a gaggle of familiar faces, the Ones paused and dipped a synchronized bow to them, "Good day, my friends! I hope we find you well?"

Aureus caught what they were speaking of and laughed, "Elias will win. Just you see." He smiled brightly and turned to Yambati, "Don't you agree?" He asked politely but it was clear he expected the unfortunate soul to agree wholeheartedly. The twins were diehard fans of Elias and everyone ought to know.

Yambati blinked, turning to the familiar voices. The twins! The last time he'd seen them was... well...

.... sparkling green......

He shook his head slightly to clear his thoughts, then actually... smiled. It was kind of weak, a very unimpressive smile, but it was there. "Of course. I wouldn't have put my money on him if I didn't think so, hm?"

Well, good! At least Elias might win! He really should find out more about his teachers...

"Ahhh, no." Came the soft, teasing cry as Aysel approached her small group of friends. "Anti, Ube, darlings, please tell me that I did not just hear you say that Professor Dameron could possibly hope to beat Professor Elias." A soft laugh, and the melancholic female gave Anti's cheek a quick kiss, and took a seat. "My friends, you are facing certain failure...and loss of funds," she added, glancing at Cashimer with a grin. "Honestly, be warned.."

Antigone stuck her tongue out as she was kissed, putting on a dramatic air. "Oh, my darling! How could one so dear to me make such a horrible mistake? You and Lior both shame me." Placing the back of her hand to her brow, the Sanguine swooned against Ubel. "How, Ubel? How could those dearest to us be so mistaken?"

Ubel sighed heavily, dramatically, along with his friend, dragging her into a hug and pouting at Aysel. "I don't understand either, my dear Antigone. Aysel, how could you have befallen to such trickery and twisted thought?" he said, shaking his head.

Lior grinned slowly and leaned close to Cash, whilst hooking an arm around Aysel to hug her close. "I'll take that wager, sweet Cashimer. If Elias wins, you owe me a kiss. If he doesn't... what would you like?"
