Anyone who plays the trumpet is automatically cool. I'm assuming your mouthpiece is a 7C... you really should think about getting a 3C mouthpiece. They're only about $40, and your tone quality will improve by leaps and bounds.

I will soon have three trumpets. Currently I only have one, but in two years my brother graduates from high school and will most likely stop playing. Then I shall have three. Two silver Bach Stradivariuses and 1 Getson. I personally play on a Bach Strad and the Getson is my brother's marching trumpet. One time I got to play on a 1920's trumpet. It had the third valve ring on the bottom, because it is said to help you reach the higher notes. It was so fun and cool. It was brushed silver and had many carvings on it. They liked aerodynamical things during that time period so it was made to fit.

I've got two trumpets, 1 Flugel Horn and 4 mouthpieces. My dad has 1 trumpet and about 4 different mouthpieces. My gold trumpet was my first, being at an age of about 26 years when I stopped playing it. (It was my dad's first.) My newer Trumpet, a beautiful silver and gold plated trumpet is a Stradivarius. My mouthpieces one 7C (don't use anymore), one 5B (hardly ever use) and one 1 1/2C (mouthpiece of choice). I use my 1 1/2C all the time (Used it in Jazz Band to hit F above the staff and hold for 8 beats). Currently been playing for 8 years. One last thing, My trumpet's got a nick name, The Silver Devil. It's "cursed", so if I play another trumpet, it won't play right later and if I oil it carelessly, it won't play at all. It also likes to drop the main tuning slide out during silent parts of concerts.

Forgot one thing. I started the summer of 4th grade and I'm now a junior in high school. I've been in All County twice, and I set a record in sixth grade for practicing about 13 hours over the course of 5 school days. Then I got braces and stopped practicing. But I'm coming back. I've vowed to practice 6 hours a day over the summer, like my idol Maynard Ferguson!

Wow! If I practiced like that I would feel the impressions of my braces in my lip for at least the next week. Good luck to you on that. I think you may have given my a great idea for practicing. Challenges are always good... I guess. neutral

Chika: I can't personally play C trumpet, but from what I understand about the instrument (Music Theory is a great class), it plays concert pitch, as opposed to the "standard" Bb, which sounds a major 2nd lower. Example: You play a G (second line, no valves). On the Bb instrument, that would sound like an F on the piano. The C trumpet would sound a G. So, to play Bb music on the C trumpet, just lower everything by one whole step (G to F, c to Bb, etc.).
Kingwarp: Going on eight years, with a year and a half in middle school where the director convinced me to try to play French Horn instead of trumpet. BAD idea, btw.
