Why.... why did gym leaders have to make a remark every time. It was nice, and all, to be recognized and rewarded, but (and perhaps this was due to hitting them again, and again, and again, without much of a break between) it was starting to wear on her. Almost like... socializing. "Uh... Thanks," she managed, snatching the TM out of the air. She tried not to grimace, before she gave a nod, and turned, heading out. That was another badge under her belt, and at this point, she was pretty sure she could start preparing to get ready. Which meant training pokemon, and refining her team a bit. And also training pokemon. She would want to figure out whether she was ready to buckle down, hunt down trainers, all that good stuff, or... just find a spot to let them beat up on a few wild pokemon just enough to get them past the next gym leader or two, where she would get serious. It would take a bit of thinking to figure that out... and research.

Really, it was Edge and Tynamo who needed training the most, but she wouldn't mind strengthening Joltik while she was at it. So then the question became where, exactly, was the best place to train. That was... a bit difficult to figure out. The next trainer was electricity, of all things, so it wasn't like she would really need any of them for the battle... she could just blow through it and move on to better training grounds. The thing was, she wasn't sure there was better training grounds. Nimbasa was.... honestly probably their best bet. Not pokemon that were particularly good for training, but... they were decent strength, and some variety, so maybe they would get lucky. She would just have to determine what she was going to do during this...

Mila wasn't sure what else to do, having never been in this sort of particular situation, but she did her best to 'act natural' and follow after Vandal without looking as if was trying to glue herself to his side; she needed to walk by his side, not match his walk step by step. Keep it cool, keep it cool, keep it cool. She repeated this over, as a mantra of sorts, and kept it rolling over in her head as they caught up with the two other grunts that apparently occupied the building. Sheila and Lanzer, she kept the names in mind-- as if that would somehow be useful-- but otherwise allowed Vandal to handle their situation, guiding the conversation to his liking, and before she knew it they were walking back out of the room and Vandal had changed their appearance once more. It was... faster than she had expected, which was a relief on her nerves.
"Hey, Vandal..." Mila waited until they were outside of the building to speak again, her tone soft. "I don't think I'll find my trainer in this city." It was a sad reality, but a reasonable one. "I don't need to keep you from your trainer any longer-- I've already taken up enough of your time. So if you'll just point me in the direction of the Pokémon Center I'll be fine, I can talk to the Nurse Joy there and get myself settled." It was honestly what she should've done in the beginning, rather than force Vandal to help her look for her trainer, but... it was better late than never. At least that was what she thought.

Noel was startled awake as the train came to a halt, rubbing his eyes wearily as the announcement sounded indicating their arrival at Castelia City. He yawned and glanced groggily at the side of his seat. Algernon and Pikachu had fallen asleep along the way as well. As opposed to disturbing them completely, he returned Pikachu to her pokeball, scooping Algernon gently up into his arms and heading off the train once more. It was about mid-day by this point for him, so the next option was to head into the outskirts of the town and get training. He’d probably do so in the forest, since he’d need to pass through there anyways to start heading back towards Narcene City for the second badge. Perfect. With that in mind he started his way toward the route gate for the forest.

Algernon was still sleeping as they walked and so Noel did his best to keep quiet and not jostle the pokemon awake in any way. It was good to see the Espurr getting some rest. Usually he was just worrying over Noel and their situation. Noel was still feeling that headache on his head too, so anything to keep the Espurr from worrying. Still though, it was probably best that he got some water or some medicine to help combat the headache, just in case.

Noel was fairly certain he had some in his bag to be honest. His parents had stocked him with various provisions and supplies for at least maintaining his own personal upkeep along his journey. He’d look into it once they were in the forest and set up for training; it was just a little migraine, nothing he couldn’t persevere through for a little bit longer. Maybe his head set just needed adjusting; he wore the thing pretty much all the time, it was bound to give him a crick in the neck once in a while.
With a deep breath he finally found his way to the route gate that led to Pinwheel Forest, a slight smile spreading across his face as he quickly picked up speed. Right, he just had to focus and they’d be good to go. No worries!

Cyrus huffed lightly as his friend insisted that he had been good at playing the harp. Of course Apollo would say that, being a musician. The dark haired male still felt his own musical talents were nothing special. And certainly couldn't be all that good anymore. He couldn't even remember the last time he played a harp. The strings would probably irritate his fingertips at this point. Now that they were seated, Cyrus gave in a bit and said that he'd try, but mentioned that he was rusty at best by now. Apollo reassured him that he'd be fine, and Cy dropped his gaze off to the side. It felt kind of odd to have someone treat him this way - he treated everyone abrasively and expected to get that back, no matter who. He supposed he had been being pretty nice to Apollo so far, though, so it was different.
"Thanks. Could use some help with playing again." he finally spoke up again, a small smile from the offer of Apollo helping him get into playing the harp again. He didn't really have much hope in starting again, to be honest, but some part of him really wanted to try to make things up to his old friend, and if that meant letting him pull him back into playing the harp, so be it. "I guess starting after getting the badge wouldn't be so bad of an idea." Cyrus commented, glancing at the menu. "I... well, I can travel with you for as long as you want me to. As of now, I don't have any other plans other than to get more gym badges, and I can manage that here." he replied, though he felt a bit surprised at his own words. He got a bit flustered, busying himself with flipping through the menu even though he already knew what he wanted. Once the waitstaff returned, he'd order a shrimp scampi in a very respectful manner, as well as a water.

Aw, it's really too bad they already left. I would have liked to play~" the Mesprit bemoaned, dramatically holding the back of a hand up against his forehead. The spirit dropped the expression, however, opening his violet eyes to look down at the pyroar in glee. "I suppose you'll have to do, huh? Let me test how strong his pokemon are~ I think I might enjoy following this guy around, even though ... wasn't I supposed to go to someone else? Heh. Come on, kitty. Let's battle~" the Mesprit prattled on a bit, then formally challenged the Pyroar as he left the mirror to show his full form in the room.
Bandit stared in awe - s**t, did she activate this? She was certainly not going to be battling for Cyrus, so she was relieved to see that Sinbad had it handled. Instead of saying anything, the wild Zoroark kept a bit of distance, observing the battle as it unfolded. It really didn't last long, and surprisingly, there was minimal damage done to the room. Sinbad hung in there with his dark pulses and overwhelmed the Mesprit. Defeated, the emotion spirit remained floating, but was quite weak. "Sheesh, I can tell I messed with the wrong kitty. Heh, you won fair and square, now you can have me as a team mate~ I'm Spirit, by the way!" Mesprit chimed a bit weakly, but smiled before zipping over to an empty pokeball, putting himself into it so that he could rest. Sinbad was a bit perplexed, but got busy licking his wounds.

Apollo flashed a grin, "I'm happy to help. Who knows, maybe one day we could do a duet; I bet we can make sweet music together." All cheesy pick-up lines aside, the idea of playing with Cyrus made him excited; him on saxophone and the dark skinned male on the harp. Admittedly it was an odd combination, but he was flexible and certainly capable of playing more than just one instrument; it was just one of his many talents. Apollo nodded when Cyrus agreed to them starting after he got his first Unova badge, taking a look over his own menu to try and figure out what he wanted for himself.
"For as long as you want me to?" The musician couldn't help but chuckle at Cyrus' open-ended response, eyes lifting up away from the menu. "What if I don't ever want you to leave? Would you stay that long?" Apollo was only joking of course, he wouldn't keep his friend from his own travels just because he longed to relive their childhood, but that being said he certainly wouldn't object to being in Cyrus' company for a bit. Apollo looked back down at his menu, eventually settling on a dish, and then looked up when a waiter approached. Ordering the beef stroganoff and a water, to keep it healthy, the bright-haired male then looked over at Cyrus expectantly, trying to decide on a new topic to touch on. Silence was fine when they were eating, but until their order came they needed some conversation. "So, uh.." Apollo paused and frowned, trying to think, before he suddenly perked up. "Oh! You never did tell me, but how do you know Zak?"

Mila crossed her arms lightly as her expression dropped into one of guilt, geez.. why did Vandal have to act all... sad!? "Hey, hey. Don't apologize," she said quickly, paws coming up into the air to try and somehow... stop him. "Honestly, you were a big help. Thank you for entertaining me, like I said I'm not the... easiest fox to get along with; and I know you were already doing your own thing..." Mila trailed off, then frowned gently. Before she could think too much on it the Delphox stepped forward to press a quick kiss to Vandal's cheek, her own face growing warm at the action. "Uh, tell me what your trainer looks like, and their name!" she demanded, but then dialed it back. "Just so I... know who to look for in the future."

====in the room==== Bandit scratched her head at the entire situation. Great. Now the orb was worthless. While she wouldn't mind taking this chance to just explore wherever she was at now, she decided against it, instead returning herself back to her ball before any more weird stuff could happen. Sinbad continued to lick his wounds before he padded around the room, sniffing around. After he was satisfied that everything was in order, he hopped up on one of the beds, circling before laying down in a curled up ball.

Touch down! Again. Did this ever change? Castelia, much different than the artsy Nacrene, though had its own artsy flair. And of course, that was exactly where Lafayette needed to head too; an art museum to get to the next gym. Burgh was a bug user, an easy enough thing to handle with his team, though he was prepared juuusttt in case.
Cheri continued her interest in texting, Noah watching her with a dubious gaze. He wasn’t any more knowledgeable with language, especially not the human language, but he knew that thing was how Lafayette communicated with others and well… it was odd how she was going about it so quickly. Cheri of course paid the Dewott no mind, instead focusing on responding to the texts.
Text to Mel: No. He doesn’t know how to text or that I am texting. Yes. I’m an Espurr. I like cotton candy. Yes… I am. He’s flying around beating things up.
Cheri tilted her head as she sent the message off. Messaging was… interesting. IT was certainly a way for her to interact with these humans that didn’t involve invading their minds. She found that, besides Lafayette, very few enjoyed the act. She scrolled through the contacts on the device and if she had the will too, would’ve frowned at the lack. Besides his employer and parents, Lafayette had all two people in his device. Sad. She selected the option for Apollo mulling over what to text him. He was the fellow at the Renaissance Fair with the pokemon that Noah had mistaken for a girl. She had to think a bit before typing together a text as well.
Text to Apollo: Hello. Do you prefer biscuits with gravy or honey? How is your Gardevoir? I hope you are keeping your hair in good form.
Cheri sent that text and mulled a moment, glancing up only as she saw Lafayette beginning to make his way towards the battle field. She might be needed, but she was more focused on the texting aspect. She noticed that each name was attached to a series of numbers. If she put in random ones would she possibly contact someone else? It was worth a shot. A moment of thought and she had inserted a random series of numbers fitting the requirement she’d noticed before composing a text and sending it off as well. She wondered if she’d get a reply or not, but didn’t have much chance to check as Lafayette called her to get involved in the battle.
Text to Ajicka: Hello stranger. I hope you are a human trainer. Do you like the sun shine? Are your pokemon very strong? Biscuits with gravy or honey?

Burgh swept into a large, and very unnecessary, sweeping bow as his Leavanny fell to a wave of fire, ideas for his next piece already running through his mind. "You and your various pokemon, you are a gift to my muse!" he explained, and with a smile he rose from his bow and practically glided over to Lafayette. "Here, take this, the Insect Badge! Proof of your valiant and glorious battle!" He waited until the badge had been taken before fishing out a TM next, his grin growing impossibly wide. "And, a gift from me, Struggle Bug. Do with it as you please."
Lafayette Received - Insect Badge - TM77 Struggle Bug +60 exp split between Cheri, Noah & Dova
Lafayette gave Burgh a sort of odd look as he all but responded in an overly jubilant fashion in regards to his loss. Sure, gym leaders were probably use to this but the last thing he expected was for one to proclaim that they’d been inspired by their loss. "A’igh’ then… ta mate…," He murmured, staring at the badge a moment before taking it. He was caught off guard by the sudden wide grin and TM, staring at the disc a moment before taking it as well.
"Ah… thanks." He was still confused about the gym leader’s enthusiasm for his loss but decided at this point not to question it and instead, get the heck out while he could. He turned and gave a little wave starting his way out once he’d collected his things. That made the third for the region. Perfect! Maybe before going back to Kalos he’d challenge himself to something tougher before going to back to Kalos to finish there. But where to go… that was the question.
Cheri went back to her trainer’s communicator, retrieving it from his things well before he could. She resumed the texting, noting that there were in fact replies. One from Mel, which seemed rather standard and a return message from the unmarked number she had randomly put together. Oh good! It was a really one and they responded. She checked Mel’s first, mulling over it before promptly tapping out a response.
Text to Mel: No. He can’t do that either. Yes please. I like the yellow cotton candy. I think it’s lemon. Or banana. I will be expecting this compensation for the information. No. Not yet. He’s using the others. I’m sure he would if allowed. Why don’t you humans just fight us yourselves? He has. You might stand a chance.
And sent. Cheri moved on to the next text as they headed for the pokemon center, staring blankly at the screen. Well that was certainly not a response to her question.
Text to Ajicka: I am Cheri. You did not answer my question. You should be kind and do so. Honey or gravy for biscuits?
She quickly typed out the response and sent it along, then pondered on repeating the random text process. If this one was going to be uncooperative than it would be within her best interest to find others. She would do just that; stringing together yet another series of numbers, she forwarded the same sort of message to some other unsuspecting individual.
Text to Rose: Hello. Do you know what day it is? Would you eat biscuits with gravy or honey?
And she sent that off, paused a moment, and repeated the steps again. At this rate, it was probably a good thing that Lafayette didn’t know people, because Arceus only knew what people would think if they’d been receiving texts like this from him.
Text to Cy: Hello. Do you answer questions? Would you prefer gravy or honey on a biscuit? Should they be crispy? I’ve been promised cotton candy. Lafayette received: - Insect Badge - TM77 Struggle Bug +60 exp split between Cheri, Noah & Dova (+20 to each)

While waiting for Cyrus to respond Apollo felt his XTransceiver buzz with a text, prompting him to look down at it and then snort as he read over the preview on his screen; the rest of the message cut off, but the part he read was enough to catch his attention. And this said it was from Lafayette?
Text to Lafayette (Cheri): Hey there, Lafayette. I haven't heard from you since the fair, how have you been? I prefer my biscuits with jam, blackberry to be specific, but honey is a nice substitute. How do you like yours? Beau's fine, thank you for asking, and yes I have been. I hadn't realized you'd been paying such close attention to it the last time we met.
Sending the response Apollo couldn't help but marvel at how... formal Lafayette sounded over text, which certainly wasn't how he'd been back at the fair, what with throwing his Espurr at the Dragalgea and running angrily after Plasma grunts in full bodied armor.
Back in the room Beau, who'd taken the initiative to release himself, covered his mouth as he sneezed gently, blinking afterwards. Goodness, that was sudden, he hoped he wasn't coming down with a cold. Sniffling gently the Gardevoir turned his attention to more pressing matters and, after brushing down at his skirt, walked calmly out of his room and towards the lobby. He was aware that Apollo wasn't anywhere in the building, but rather than be concerned he'd use this opportunity to train himself and a few of Apollo's pokemon, just as soon as he retrieved them from the PC.
-----
Mila couldn't help but laugh at the embarrassed look Vandal took on, the brief merriment helping to dim the color of her own flushed cheeks. "What? A little peck on the cheek too much for you?" she teased, but then afterwards cleared her throat. Right, she... needed to get going, no use in holding him up any longer than she'd already had. The fox nodded as Vandal described his trainer, putting the description to memory and then burning an idea of the woman into her mind; she wouldn't forget a single detail. "Okay, thank you. I'll keep a look out for her," Mila promised and then drew in a breath. "I'll get going then, and.. again, thank you Vandal." She lingered there for a moment, unsure of how else to end their interaction, but after a moment she began to walk out of the alley, only turning to look back once more at the alley's entrance, and then slipped away to make her way to the Pokémon Center.

Zak left Scarlett's ship still feeling pretty miffed. Well, no... miffed wasn't the right word. He felt... off. He tried to distract himself by flipping through the book he'd taken from Scar, but, really, without the translation, even an 'insufficient' one, he wasn't going to get too far. He frowned as he closed it again. He needed... a distraction. He needed to go settle down with a beer, maybe find a nice... club to get comfortable in, and work. Give himself something interesting to glance at between programming and projects, and some alcohol to help him relax, while still being productive. And, hey, this was a city.... there was bound to be the right kind of location around here somewhere...

Lafayette headed his way to the pokemon center, still mulling over the idea of taking on a harder gym for the challenge, or simply just making his way back to Kalos to finish the third one there. He’d done what he’d set out to do in an abnormally quick amount of time so… it was just kind of odd. Then there was still meeting up with Mel after all of it if he could find her. He glanced back at Cheri still following along behind with his X-Transceiver still between her paws, tapping along with that blank look but clearly with interest. He kind of wondered what she was doing. Noah was right beside him as well, shooting dirty looks back at the Espurr from time to time. He didn’t know what she was up to but he knew she was like, up to something.
Cheri of course was continuing her escapades of texting people randomly. She’d fired off a few more texts to random numbers while she waited on responses and blinked as she once more received responses. Another from Mel (so prompt), one from Apollo (the first to give her an answer to her question and seemed to mistakenly believe she was Lafayette) and another from mystery number numero one (who was still not answering the question).
Text to Mel: No. He doesn’t read at all. I think he guesses. Do you prefer biscuits with honey or gravy? I read once for him, I think it was from you. Please bring the pink cotton candy instead. I think that would be better.
Most pokemon are not fire proof either. That doesn’t stop them. Grass burns badly. No, not yet. I think he would win faster if he did. Your gym leaders are not very tough looking. That was one sent.
Text to Apollo: You are the first to answer my question. Thank you, you are a good trainer. I don’t know yet, that is why I am asking. I will figure it out. That is good, Noah will be pleased to hear that. That is good; your hair is shiny, you need to keep it shiny. He probably was not, but I was. I pay attention. Do you like cotton candy? That was sent. Why was no one stopping this?
Text to Ajicka: I typed it in the device. It was not very hard, you should try it. Will you take biscuits with honey or gravy? Do you like your pokemon? I know a Dewott, he doesn’t like me very much. He talks funny like his trainer. And another sent. Okay. Great.
