The lecture had deviated to talking about status effects, losing Sebastian’s attention just a bit. Not that this was wasn’t important information or anything but he was certainly aware to some degree how that kind of thing worked. Of course it was quite possible he was missing some really valuable information, such has how to cure them with berries or medicines. He’d never been very focused in school settings.
Instead he’d proceeded to try and doodle on the free paper that was available at the desk. What exactly was he doodling? It was anyone’s guess really; he wasn’t exactly an artist. Actually, he was pretty darn terrible.
”What’s that supposed to be?” A voice suddenly piped up, breaking his attention. He glanced over to see the young boy sitting next to him –how’d that happen- eyeing the drawing with the level of interest appropriate for a child. Sebastian blinked, glancing back at the sketch. "It’s supposed to be a Slowbro." The boy frowned, staring at the paper and tilting his head before looking back at Sebastian.
”It’s really bad.” Sebastian gave a slight frown, glancing between the boy and his drawing. Finally an eyebrow quirked as he shrugged. "Ya, it is."

”So you’re a pokemon trainer?” Gregory, as Sebastian had learned his name to be, asked curiously. The older man nodded. "Yes."
”So what are you doing in trainer school, huh?” He inquired, giving Sebastian a questioning look like he didn’t quite believe him. He raised an eyebrow, considering the question a moment as his eyes glanced around a bit. "To… learn some stuff?" That was pretty much why anyone came to school, right? To learn things?
Gregory didn’t seem to buy it, a skeptical frown crossing his face as his gaze narrowed. ”Shouldn’t you already know this stuff?” Sebastian frowned, tapping the pencil in his hand against the desk. "Well it’s been a while… I thought I could use a refresher is all." The boy just stared harder, practically standing on his seat as he stared him down. Anyone else probably would’ve been bothered to some degree, but Sebastian just gazed back curiously.

”A Mawile?” Greg asked. Sebastian nodded, gesturing at his arm again. "That’s what he called it, I think." Greg frowned, tapping his chin lightly as he considered the name. ”Hold on… I think I know what it is…,” He hopped off the seat, quickly scurrying over to a bookshelf. He browsed a moment and pulled a blue-covered one off, sitting back down next to Sebastian as he opened it up. He checked the table of contents, tapping his finger and flipping to the designated page. Greg turned the book towards Sebastian, point at the picture of a pokemon.
”This is a Mawile.” Sebastian glanced at the picture, blinking and staring in slight disbelief. "…Really?" Greg nodded. ”Yup!”
"Wow…" So that is what had bit Jacque? How exactly had he kept his arm? The thing looked like it could break through a thick tree branch if it wanted too, much less an arm. He looked the page over a moment, quirking an eyebrow. "A … fairy type? What’s that."
”It’s a new type they found! My sister loves them, they’re really cute!” Greg chirped, receiving an odd look of “oh really” from Sebastian, whose gaze redirected to the Mawile picture in the book. He wasn’t sure he quite saw it that way.

The Trainer School eventually let out and after saying goodbye to Greg, Sebastian headed back out. He checked the time; there probably wasn’t enough time to challenge the gym leader… but there was still enough daylight for him to go check out the forest on the outskirts of town.
He made a quick drop by Pokemon Center and a few shops for supplies just in case he had to camp out, before making his way for the gate that lead out to the forest. Hopefully he’d find an interesting pokemon or two before heading off to challenge the gym leader.

The painful effects of Butterfree’s powder attack had faded slightly as they returned to Santalune City, though Sebastian’s vision was still somewhat blurred and his lungs still burned a bit. He was still coughing harshly, which seemed to greatly concern Spade who hovered closer than normal. Blackjack led the way towards the pokemon center, doing what he could do avoid unnecessary obstacles.
They arrived at the center in record time and Sebastian quickly returned the two dogs before handing them off to Nurse Joy. He also requested a bit of a checkup once his pokemon were taken care of. He wanted to make sure that whatever Butterfree had smacked him with wouldn’t cause long term damage. Because that would certain hinder his journey if it did.

The checkup went over well. Nurse Joy assured Sebastian that he’d be alright and that the effects weren’t permanent, which was good to hear. He thanked her repeatedly, still coughing in between speaking as he retrieved his pokemon. Fetching everyone a proper breakfast as well, everyone seemed set to go. Sebastian hadn’t bothered to bringing Butterfree out just in case she opted to poison him again, but he made sure to set some food aside for her for later.
He returned everyone once they were done eating, finishing his own meal and heading back into the city. It was about time he challenged the gym leader… Viola was it? He was feeling pretty confident about his chances. As he started heading for the gym, something waddled out into the path in his way. Sebastian blinked and stared a moment. A … Psyduck?
The pokemon paused as it was noticed, turning its blank gaze to the now halted trainer. ”Psy…,” Sebastian tilted his head a bit. Was this a wild pokemon? Or did it belong to someone? He didn’t expect to see a Psyduck out in a place like this. With slight hesitation, he retrieved a pokeball, intending to send out Kaiser or Spade to be done with the fight, but instead accidentally releasing Fletchling. The little bird chirped and flapped her wings excitedly, eyeing the odd duck pokemon before chirping. Psyduck didn’t seem to appreciate the noise though, giving a violent “PSYDUCK” squawk before tackling the poor baby bird before Sebastian could even recall her.

Okay well, Sebastian had to turn around and return to the pokemon center before retracing his steps back towards the gym once he’d healed his pokemon again. Nurse Joy seemed rather surprised at his abrupt return –hadn’t he left only a few minutes ago?- but before she could even question, he was thanking her and fleeing out the door.
Okay, hopefully no more random battles with wild pokemon. At least, not until after he challenged the gym leader. Sebastian couldn’t really afford to keep running back and forth to the pokemon center to make sure his team was in good condition. Well… he didn’t want to have to anyways. At least not on such short intervals.
Finally he arrived at the Santalune gym, pushing the doors open and stepping inside. The large picture portraits on the wall caught his gaze briefly. They were actually rather impressive. He shook his head –no time to get distracted- before he stepped up proper. "I’m here to challenge the gym leader, please!" Sebastian called out.

Sebastian blinked as Viola appeared, giving her a smile and a slight bow of greeting. "A pleasure to meet you! The name’s Sebastian." He remarked, stepping up into place and reaching for a pokeball. At the mention of picture taking he blinked, quirking an eyebrow.
"I certainly don’t mind… can’t really speak for my pokemon though." Sebastian smiled, pulling out Quilava’s pokeball. Jaque had mentioned she used bugs so he didn’t really question Surskit when it was brought out. A fire type would do just fine, right? "I’m sure they’ll be fine. Come on out, Naps!" The Quilava appeared on the field with a little yawn, eyeing his opponent momentarily before giving his standard squeaky roar.
"Alright Naps, start off with Ember." He wanted it to be some kind of a challenge.

Viola blinked and straightened up a bit, then beamed. "A fire type! It's not often I get to see one of those square off with surskit!" she commented happily. Sebastian was caught off guard. Wait, Bubble? That wasn’t a normal bug move as far as he knew. Frowning he tugged out his pokedex to actually check the entry on Surskit. Bug and… Water? He winced. Well that was certainly a mess-up on his part. No wonder the Ember hadn’t seemed to do that much damage in the first place. He felt a bit ashamed for assuming an immediate type advantage; he really needed to check that kind of thing before hand.
Of course, poor Naps didn’t. He was busy squeaking in rage as the stream of bubbles hit him full on. Who knew something like that could hurt so bad? He shook off the attack, a little wobbly legged from how effective the attack was. Sebastian took a breath; at least Naps could do some damage and he was going to at least let the Quilava finish this fight off and quickly, before the poor thing became traumatized of bubbles.
"Take it up a notch, Naps! Fire Blast!" The Quilava gave a squeaky roar, on board with the action as he released a violet torrent of fire at Surskit, putting the little water bug out cold. Once the call had been made, he returned Naps. "Sorry buddy. My bad." He couldn’t really afford to make that kind of mistake again…
"Alright Kaiser, you’re up!" He called, sending out the Mareep. Hopefully there weren’t like… ground and bug type combo on her team as well.
Surskit used Bubble! 2 x 40 = 80 160 – 80 = 80 Naps (80/160 HP)

Sebastian gave a half smile to Viola followed by a nod. At least she seemed… impressed? He hoped that was the right word. "I’ll admit, I wasn’t expecting water moves from a bug. So I think we’re about even on being impressed." He eyed the Vivilion a moment as it was called to the field, listening to his pokedex as it gave him a brief synopsis. Okay good, nothing really crazy like her first pokemon. Kaiser could handle this.
He straightened up a bit, considering the question a moment. "Technically… I suppose yes. I just came from there anyways. I’m from Kanto though-" Kaiser let out a mewling noises, little legs stomping in anticipation. He was probably hungry again and rearing to go eat. Sebastian frowned but gave a nod.
