Lafayette quirked an eyebrow at the snowy display and if he’d had the extra hand to do so, might’ve given a clap of approval. He didn’t though and so just gave a cheeky grin of approval as Mel returned with the make shift ice pack for him to use, lowering down a bit again at her gesture.
"Hmm? Nah… not lately sheila. S’pose I should change that though," he winced a little as pressure was applied to the wound, giving a little nod of thanks before reaching and taking over to pressing the cloth to his head so that Mel needn’t do so. He wasn’t a child (mostly) after all, he could do that much and free her from the task. "He beats tha’ livin’ hell outta everythin’ he has a blue with though so… I ain’ realleh worried." It was usually Cheri eating the floor in battles… maybe she was the one he needed to worry about? Of course, that was the last thing on his mind and the thought soured his mood briefly.
"Yeh, if I could. Ain’ no use wipin’ everyone out if yeh don’ have ta, roigh’?" Lafayette asked her curiously, seeming to miss the mostly joking part. He’d certainly had to use the entirely of his team at times and it was probably a better strategy but… why work harder when you could work smarter? With their attention turned to Conglomerate, Lafayette couldn’t help but laugh at the explanation, painful as it was. "Realleh? A drago?" He smirked and took to walking around a bit to study the pastel colorful tree, nudging him a bit with his foot since his one hand was occupied. "Pff yeh think? He’s a ********’ tree sheila!" He laughed again and backed up, looking at Conglomerate with a sort of challenging look. "Trees get crushed by dragos, they don’ become ‘em!" Of course, pokemon were weird like that. But still…a tree?
"Yeh like yeh dragos not lookin’ the part, don’ yeh sheila?" He teased with a chuckle. "Any otha’ pokies ya got that don’ look like they should?"

Mel shrugged. "Oh, I don't know. I'm sure eventually, you just get a moveset you don't need to change much. No need to check on it if you've managed to get to that point," she mused, though it kind of sounded like he wasn't. She was kind of guessing that, more than likely, he probably had a decent moveset, and since there wasn't a pressing need to change it, had just forgotten it. "And fair enough. Never know, though, ya might be able to find somethin' that can help him beat 'em even more," she added with a playful smirk. There was still something... missing from her joking, though, not that it seemed insincere. It was, but she still had that slight feeling over everything that had happened holding her back. She didn't like to hold grudges, in fact she was pretty good at forgiving, but it was still recent, and she was still very much aware of the gnawing emptiness not having Z within reach was giving her.
She shrugged some at his return point, stepping back as he seemed to have the cloth just fine. "I suppose, but it doesn't hurt to use it as trainin' for them, either, if they need it," she added in return, crossing her arms over her chest. She rolled her eyes at Lala's disbelief, but shrugged, moving over to rest a hand on the pokemon. "It's what the pokedex said," she recalled, "And I dunno if a dragon could manage to crush him. Seems pretty sturdy." As if on cue, Con suddenly swung his head down, and for a moment, it looked like he was about to use that long, flexible neck of his to whip right into Lala's stomach. Instead, however, he came to a stop, and bowed his neck and turned his head to grin at the Aussie, upside down. Mel was frozen, her eyes wide, before she relaxed, secretly relieved, and smiled. "Not that he seems like much of a fighter," she added. She scrunched up her face at the accusation Lala made to her pokemons appearances, though. "Well how should I know? I think they all look perfectly fine," she replied, pouting just a little and glancing at him uncertainly. It seemed out of character but... honestly it was just that she was trying not to be too defensive, and not too obvious at the fact that she... hadn't even thought about how slightly off the stereotype her dragons had been.

"Mmm… think yeh roigh’. Sure he’ll change it himself if’n he realleh needs tah," he said with a bit of a joking tone, eyeing his pokemon again and giving a shake of his head. Actually he didn’t quite know how they figured out what they wanted or needed to know and he was okay not really questioning it. Pokemon had their own natural sense of survival, right? He didn’t need to get all that involved. "Oh yeh? Like more a’ them mushrooms? They do some crazeh things," he chuckled again. He didn’t quite miss though the bit of awkwardness in the air, cutting his chuckle short.
The Aussie wasn’t compelled to believe the claim that the tree was in fact now also a dragon, giving Mel a bit of a questioning look. "Yeh sure yeh weren’ lookin’ at a differen’ pokie, sheila?" He commented absently, still eyeing Conglomerate. As the pokemon maneuvered in a fashion that looked like he was trying to whip himself at the man, he stiffened and snapped his arm up, balling his hand into a fist like he was ready to strike. When it became clear though that there was no ill willed attacks about to happen (at least, in the moment) he loosened up and lowered his arm a bit, fist still there though.
"Yeh…?" He murmured, squinting down at the pokemon and his grinning faces with still a level of suspicion. "Ain’ sayin’ they don’t. Just expectin’ a lizzie lookin’ thing when I think a drago’," he commented, finally un-balling his hand and offering it out to the Exggecutor to… sniff? Maybe? He was trying to be friendly in the moment at least. "He ain’ all that tough lookin’ though, Tall, but not tough. Yeh sure he could realleh survive ah battle?" It was hard to hide the doubt in his voice, which was funny seeing as how one look at his team probably drew the same sort of thought from others. Lafayette knew looks could be deceiving though; it was the pokemon’s actions that were befuddling him.
"Speakin’ a blues, yeh still game fa ours?" The Aussie inquired, looking at Mel thoughtfully. It hadn’t slipped his mind the numerous competitions they were supposed to have and while there was still tension in the air from the loss of Z, he hoped bringing up such topics would help ease her mind for a short time.

Mel gave Lala a bit of a dubious look, but didn't follow up on that. She hadn't... really meant that Noah would be changing his moveset, but, oh well. She scoffed and rolled her eyes, trying to ignore the defensive flare his comment started up in her chest. "Pretty sure, Lala. I watched him and his little egglet self gather 'round the stone, glow, 'n grow. Don' think I would've been able to mix that up for another pokemon," she replied, folding her arms over her chest. She eyed his hand when he moved as if to hit her pokemon in defense, but to some extent, she couldn't really blame the reaction. She was glad it didn't escalate from there, though, and chuckled as the two looked at each other. "I can understand that, but you just need to broaden your definition of dragon, then. Y'know ampharos mega evolve into them, too, right? 'N I think Kingdra and Dragalga are classified as dragon type, too," she pointed out, watching in amusement as Con instead moved under Lala's hand and rubbed his hand against it happily.
She blinked and pulled her attention back up to the Aussie at his reference, though, expression blank a moment before she shook her head and smiled. "Oh, well sure. I'd still be happy to beat you, Lala," she replied, so casually and conversationally that the teasing boast was almost too easy to miss.

Lafayette watched Mel as she returned a dubious look, brow furrowing a bit in questioning concern. Had he gone and said something wrong? Soon though she was laughing and he was able to relax, a grin blooming across his face as she teased about the mushrooms. "Nah sheila! Ain’ a fan of fungies," he stuck a tongue out and made a ‘bleck’ expression at the thought. He had a cast iron stomach certainly, but there were just some things he didn’t enjoy. Yes, once more the reference had gone over his head in that moment though it might’ve not been clear with the response he’d given. Something possibly in his favor.
He gave Mel a questioning look as she explained that she had very much witnessed the clump of seed-eggs gather and evolve. It was still hard to believe but then again, there were so many pokemon in world… well who was he to judge? "Huh…," the Aussie murmured, rubbing Con’s head gently and giving a bit of a smile. "Oh I know, but yeh gotta admit sheila. They look a wee bit like dragos, don’ ya thing? Got that lizardy look ‘bout them! Not a tree though," he commented in a sort of matter-of-fact tone.
Lafayette pulled his hand back and gave Mel a look as the conversation of their intended competition was brought up. He looked a bit concerned at the blank stare; had she forgotten already? It hadn’t been all that long since they’d been joking about it. He didn’t quite relax though but did return his own mischievous grin. "Oh yeh sheila? Yeh suuuree?" Rolling the shoulder of his missing arm to the best of his abilities, he tilted his head back with a cocky expression. "Dun’ let tha’ missin arm fool ya Mello. Promise I won’ be easy," he winked, "then name tha’ time and place, yeh? I’m game fah whenever. Even in the morn’ if yeh think sleep’ll slow me down and ya need tha’ help."

Mel snorted and shook her head. It seemed Lala didn't quite get the joke, but maybe that was for the better. He seemed the sort to not do any drugs besides maybe drinking, not so much on purpose, but simply through lack of exposure or knowledge-- and the universe was to benefit from it. She couldn't imagine if someone like him managed to get on something like LSD....
Shaking from the thought, she quirked an eyebrow at Lala's point. "You think Ampharos looks dragon like? Lizardy? The sheep pokemon?" she poked back, highly amused. Honestly, there had to b e some other dragons that were a little.... less than typical, though she couldn't deny that Con was probably in the top of "Wait, that's a dragon?" kind of pokemon. She shifted her weight to the side and tilted her head as Lala returned the grin, smirking a bit at his confidence. She gave a loud laugh at his boast, though, and rolled his eyes. "Oh, please Lala, I'll fight you right after my gym battle," she offered in return, smirking at him, before turning to her pokemon, and moving to recall most of them, "Which I think I'm just about ready for."

Lafayette gave Mel a look as she questioned whether he actually believed Ampharos was a dragon. He frowned and looked to briefly be wracking his brain about the subject; admittedly his mind had immediately gone to the images of the Kingdra and Dragalga mentioned. Which was Ampharos? He pulled his hand away from petting Con to find his pokedex and check. Oh yeah, the sheep thing. The Aussie stared long and hard before finally shrugging.
"Yeh! Why not? Yeh ever seen them… fluffeh dragos? Mahbeh not tha’ lizardy lookin’ but… I could see it!" He shrugged, giving her a grin. He looked pleased that Mel was still willing to take him up on the offer for a fight; right after her gym battle of course. "Rippin’ great sheila! Let’s get movin’ then, eh?" Lafayette cheered, ushering his team to recollect themselves so that he could return them as well. He swapped out who he’d be leaving out, deciding that at this point Noah deserved the fresh air and he was a refreshing change from Cheri and her traitorous ways. "Aftah yeh Mello."

Mel smiled, laughing softly and shaking her head a bit. "Really. So you think Ampharos is a dragon, definitely, but no chance that Con here is? He looks more scaly than that sheep does," she poked back, reaching up to make a light jab at his nose to emphasize the point. His enthusiasm for their fight, however, left her torn-- on the one hand, she was excited for the challenge, on the other hand, Lala seemed like someone that would be painful to lose to. Still, she was no stranger to pain.
"Alright then," she agreed, getting her pokemon together as well, before heading back towards the gym, "What will you be doing, while I go and get this badge, then, hm?" Warming up, maybe? Lafayette’s expression contorted in an honest attempt to think. It was probably sad t osee a man thinking so hard over such a simple question. But he was."Yeh! I do. And with that, he gave an affirmative nod as though the matter was totally settled, only making a face as his nose was poked and instinctively playfully swatting Mel away in the process.

He grinned at Mel, though blinked at the question. "Hm… well," the Aussie rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "S’pose I could go get some practicin’ in! Get warmed up! Or can come cheer ya on if yeh want! Either way, I’ll be getting’ mah blood pumpin’!" He nudged her shoulder with a fist, looking thoughtful once more. Either way, he’d be getting himself ready for the oncoming fight, that was for sure. "What’cha think Mello? I don’ want ya thinkin’ I’m cheatin’," he winked.

Mel gave Lala an almost sympathetic look, but her eyebrows shot up at his claim of violent sheep. "Really. Y'know, I've never heard of that happening," she remarked, before smirking some, "S'pose I'll have to take your word for it." Thought, she didn't, exactly. She was pretty sure that had never happened, dangerous as pokemon were. If a freaking mareep, or ampharos, were to do any damage to a person, it would probably be to electrocute them, not... rip their face off. The idea of it had her chuckling, bad as that was.
"Hm?" She looked at Lala in slight surprise as he listed a few options, including coming to cheer her on. It brought an amused smirk to her face and she shifted her weight to one side, resting a hand on her hip as she appraised him. She was sure he'd be a fantastic cheerleader, but... "Why don't you go and see if you can find a good place for our fight?" she suggested, "That way you can text me the location, and I can' tmeet you there. Not give you too much time to warm up." She gave a playful wink, before looking ahead at the gym, and then back at him. She'd wait for a reply, before heading in for the challenge.

To be completely honest, that spooky carnival hadn't been too bad. Especially after having played games with Reina to take her mind off of things. However, somehow it seemed she had gotten split up from her new companion as the carnival packed up. So now, she was in North Lumiose, accompanied by Zadie and Fynx, both of which who were staying by her side. While it wasn't a bad time, Rose was still relieved to be out of that haunted mire.
"You know, this is the city where you can earn your next gym badge." Fynx suggested once they had got to the pokemon center. After all, it would be pretty important to be taking on this gym leader sooner rather than later. The Delphox was thinking that if anything, the experience could get her trainer stronger, and possibly more confident. The latter was mostly a hope. The silvery blue vixen was starting to realize that as much as she loathed to admit it, Rose depended far too much on her, and that wasn't exactly the best thing in the long run. What Atona had told her had got her thinking a lot about it, actually. If the Giratina popped out of it's ball, angry, she would hardly have a chance against it. And knowing that she was the strongest of Rose's pokemon... well, that would mean if something happened to her, then Rose would be terribly ill prepared to deal with that situation.
Rose hummed thoughtfully at her starter's suggestion, but hesitated. She wasn't sure why but... something about trying to battle the next gym in her home region felt nerve-wracking. This was a more serious gym battle ahead of her, that much she knew. But she didn't feel like she was ready for that. So far, she's depended mostly on her pokemon to just know what they need to do. "I'm not sure.... maybe.... after some rest or something." Rose replied, eating some of the food that she had gotten in the center's cafe.
Fynx didn't feel like arguing with her trainer on this matter, merely giving a nod and accepting that she wanted some time before challenging the gym leader. It was certainly going to be easier to convince her to do it now that they were back in Kalos. So at least there was that.

Naiya glided down from the skies, the braid she had put her hair into before they had taken off was now fraying in the middle. Cynthia was a graceful flyer, but flight was a dangerous thing anyway. Her hair was the least of her worries when it came to flight. When she landed, she slid her legs out from where Cynthia had tucked them, and Xena popped from her ball almost immediately. She had refused to stay in the ball for longer than she had too. She wouldn't let anyone take advantage of Naiya ever again. Kenichi was right behind her. While the two nodded at each other in understanding, Naiya pulled Erza out of her bag and tickled the baby's head spike things. The baby giggled and struggled a little bit as the girl tickled her. When the salamance landed, Naiya looked up and waved at her friend. It was nice to see him again after such a long time. And now they were in the region they had been born in. Mel was grinning at the end of her interaction with Lala. She forced it into a smirk and a challenging jerk of her head, both agreeing to his vote of confidence, and acknowledging their own upcoming 'blue'. She turned and started towards the gym, her energy slowly depleting a bit as she walked, absently tossing her goldeen's pokeball in her hand. That turned into a nervous fidget as she entered the gym, anxious, though not scared. She wasn't... completely sure her pokemon were totally up for this, and honestly, not having Brian around was.... weird. But she was enjoying Lala's company, and for that, not having Brian around probably was a good thing. She shook the thoughts off and tried to focus on the battle, as she announced her challenge, and Clement rose to meet it.
