Alyx couldn't speak, only nod. She had not known a name, just taken the one on her clothes that day.

Ace had to put a hand on the wall to steady himself as she nodded. He couldn't speak, he couldn't think. He wasn't even sure what he was feeling, there was his sadness that was always there. However there was more mixed in with it that he couldn't even pull apart. He placed his back against the wall and slowly slid down to the floor as what she meant truly registered.

Alyx just closed her eyes. She didn't know what to say to him.

Ace looked up at her and opened and closed his mouth a few times before he managed to ask "What do you remember? What memory of hers do you have?" He could feel his eyes becoming moist as his pain and sadness opened back up.

"Please don't," Alyx begged. "I'm falling appart as it is Ace. I should not have spoken. It hurts you." She sank to her knees, tears falling down her face. "I remember fragments of her time with you. I clearly remember the day the monster bit her."

Ace let his eyes fall to the floor as he sat there. His knuckles began to turn white, as he felt his past opening back up to drown him. After a few moments of of nothing he tensed his muscles and slammed his elbow loudly into the wall his back was on. He stood up and glanced around quickly but he didn't say a single thing.

He looked at her for a moment before he said coldly "Let's go." He was pushing everything back down the pit as it tried to get out. He once again became someone who refuses to be swept away by his past and emotions. He was shoving everything for a later time and place.

Alyx didn't move or speak. Her own mind was shattering but she was hiding it.

Alyx did not respond. With her mind shattering the monster she had been was trying to take hold.

Ace tighten his hand around hers and he thought at her 'You are stronger than the monster, Alyx. If you need my help or strength simply ask for it. We have to get moving soon.'

Alyx blinked and looked at him. "Ace don't hold back what you are feeling," she whispered. "I know it's a shock to you. We have time, at least a little."

"I fear that a little time may not be enough, but if you want I will not hold back and I will show you what it is I feel." Ace told her as softly as she spoke before. He paused for a brief moment before quietly asking "Do you truly wish to know?"
