A path to follow, a path to meet
a path of sorrow, a path so sweet

User Image Darkstorm

Disappointment crossed Darkstorm's face as Miraclesky assured him it was just some sort of game. Reluctantly, he stepped off of Ebonysun and sat on his haunches as he listened to Miraclesky speak in silence.
Did she not see the look in his eye? Darkstorm wondered as the fiery she-cat spoke. She should be careful who she 'plays' with. Ebonysun is no tom to be hassled.

He did not bat an eye as she sprayed mud on him with a big shake of her fur. Mud did not bother him in the slightest. Light flecks speckled across his fur, and large chunks slid down his flank and plopped onto the ground. He twitched his ears once, eyeing her curiously.
"I wonder," he commented, "it will take long time to take mud out of your fur. Why are you covered so?"

LOCATION: Makeshift Stormclan camp, muddy patch
COMPANY: Darkstorm, Miraclesky
OOC: TABLEFLIP

Ebonysun’s blazing flame-coloured eyes narrowed at Miraclesky’s happy comment that she thought it was hilarious and “simply wonderful”. Ugh, she was way too happy and too jolly for her own good. He made no attempt in hiding his eye roll, giving only a low grunt to the she-cat as a reply to her joyous comment. She apparently thought it would be funny to splash her paw into the mud and send a new wave splashing into his face. ”Wait -” He didn’t even get to finish his sentence before mud splashed across his face, making him close his eyes as mud dripped down his fur and onto the ground. Oh, this day was going just wonderfully for him.

Ebonysun was so caught up with pinning the orange she-cat down in the mud that he failed to notice Darkstorm charging over like a bull. The maine coon tom’s much larger size meant that Ebonysun was again sent flying, landing again in the mud with a huge weight crushing his chest. Mud splashed into his nose and mouth from the attack, making him cough and splutter as he pawed at his eyes to try and get the grime off. When at last his sun-coloured eyes opened, they landed on the piercing blue gaze of...Thor. Ebonysun was perhaps one of the few cats who still called him by his rogue name, as if he was making it clear that Thor did not belong in Stormclan with his rogue blood. As if he didn’t already look out of place with his long fur and massive size!

It seemed that Miraclesky was coming to his rescue, as she squeezed herself between the two of them while claiming that they were “only having a little fun”. Yeah right, she was having fun whereas he was getting his pelt dirtier by the second. Starclan must have something against him being clean today. He narrowed his eyes and hissed loudly into Miraclesky’s face when she thrust her face a hair’s breadth from his nose, peering at him curiously. Fortunately, Darkstorm seemed to believe Miraclesky’s explanation and climbed off his chest, allowing Ebonysun to heave a deep breath after having his chest crushed for so long. He grudgingly climbed to his paws and shook his fur out, showering the other two cats with mud and making his fur even spiker than before, if that was even possible. He glowered at the two cats, Darkstorm because he was a rogue who had dared to attack a pure-blooded Stormclan cat like himself (the nerve of him!) and Miraclesky because she was the one who started this whole thing. However, if he decided to bite her ears off, he had no doubt that Darkstorm would probably rip his head off. ”For fox’s sake!” He snarled as he used his front paw to flip a branch into the air, sending it spinning in the air before landing with a plop on the marshy ground.

TAKE ME INTO YOUR DARKEST HOUR

█ ██ █████ ███████████ ████████████████ █████████████████

Miraclesky let her ears droop, knowing that that was the official end of her fun with Ebonysun. Rather, her fun torment of Ebonysun. The ginger she-cat glanced at her muddied pelt, soaked deep into her bones, probably, and then gave a lopsided cat grin. She was so filthy, but it had felt so good to have fun! She peered up at enormous Darkstorm, flicking an ear and letting a few drops of mud fly with it. She observed the giant tom's lack of notice or care about the mud, and cocked her head slightly, her eyes still shining in amusement.

"Oh, I'm sure I'll need to get thoroughly waterlogged to get all this mud out. Funny story, actually. I was following this strange scent that led me in a circle, turning out to be Valiantstride, and as I was running back into camp, I slipped on a super slippery spot of mud and leaves, and that sent me into a tailspin into grumpyface here," Miraclesky explained, her voice light and teasing with laughter, nudging Ebonysun with her shoulder as she referred to him. "So then I tried lightening the mouse-brain's mood with a little fun, and in return I got dunked into a puddle! As dirty as I am, it was super duper great fun!" Miraclesky proclaimed, swishing her tail and raising her voice (without noticing herself) in excitement.

Miraclesky jumped as she caught Ebonysun stomping around on a branch out of the corner of her eye. She jumped aside as he flipped the branch into the air, watching it's travel with wide blue eyes. Her whiskers twitched as her gaze shot back to the grouchy tom, peering at him with laughter and wonder in her eyes. She'd never seen a cat do that before, and it was cool!

"Geez, what'd that branch do to you, mister grumpyface?"

I'm so sorry ;v; It was longer but I cut out alot of it to get it done faster lol...and it's long. So yeah, HAVE FUN! Anyways, I had permission to do this dream thing and stuff so don't worry. She's a medicine cat anyways so she gets to ledream communicate with StarClan. Also, evidently, Moonblaze has always had a very strong connection with StarClan and can dream/contact them by concentrating, willing herself, and, especially, if StarClan allows it. Enjoy~ Oh, points to who ever guessed who the blue eyes belong to in the post before Moony dreams~

HOLY GOD 7K WORDS...

User ImageRays of radiant warmth filtered through what was left of great towering trees of several species; dappling insect-meddled leaves with dots of light. The heavens above hid nothing but clarity of the cerulean of mid-day as the flittering of forest animals and song-birds frolicked amongst the devastated forestry around a shimmering expanse of water; the lake. Frigid morning breezes danced across moist and musky air…creating a familiar atmosphere of the liveliness within a woodland sanctum.

Of course, the eerie atmosphere would soon be broken with a shrill cry that shattered the peace like obliterated glass.

”We only have that much left?!”

At the center of a small dusty clearing surrounded by lengthy holly bushes and other foliage were two cats; one being a slender angelic she-cat with piercing wintry eyes while the other was a younger pumpkin orange tabby she-cat with a deep azure gaze.

They conversed a little ways from a yawning mass of brambles and stone bolstered with sticks and extra brambles very recently had probably served as a fox’s den; no abandoned and reconstructed to fit the needs of cats. The silhouettes of sleeping cats were hardly visible in the safety of the provisional den.

The one that had cried out, the orange tabby, portrayed evident horror in her chime-like muse while eyeing the glossy furred she-cat before her with river blue eyes that rivaled that of an owl’s.

”Please calm yourself Fadinghorizon, we don’t want to stir any panic in the clan…”

The beautiful snowy cat replied with nothing short of a gentle hiss as she chastised the younger cat. Fadinghorizon blinked sheepishly but the surprise hadn’t faded from her face in the least.

”Sorry Moonblaze…it’s just…how are we going to treat our clan-mates if anything happens…? I would’ve never used up the rest of our herb store if I knew we only had a that and…ugh…Ebonysun’s mouthful… We spent the rest of it on that rogue and now…we’re in trouble…we practically have nothing! If anything happens, we’re unprepared and this could mean life or death for one of our cla-“

Fadinghorizon was abruptly stopped as a plumy white tail pressed itself to her muzzle in an order of silence; faster than Fadinghorizon had anticipated as her maw was now crammed shut with silky tail-fur. In turn, the frantic tabby shrank apologetically. Moonblaze smiled grimly, eyes blazing in mild icy hues that both displayed fierceness and tenderness as she lowered her tail to rest around her paws; curling around as a coiling snake would.

”Do not fret young one. I know very well of the danger our clan is in with the lack of herbs…especially with the gathering areas near desolate or unrecoverable because of the destruction earlier. But, it doesn’t mean what we used was wasted. Ferretwhisper was in dire need of the herbs as much as any cat, and it brings me peace knowing she is faring better than before…and the rogue. We should be glad that we were able to save another life with our remaining herbs…so no, I don’t think we used what little we had carelessly.”

The adolescent tabby nodded slowly, realizing her error and proceeded to looking down on her paws with liquid oceans of guilt and tinged of fear and…once more…doubt...

”I know…and I’m sorry…it’s just…it’s just…I’ve never felt so…helpless…well…I mean…I’ve probably felt more helpless before…but, not when healing somecat…I feel so…powerless about everything…is there nothing we can do to save our clan from all this danger…er…destruction….the omen…ehm…you know what I mean… Is StarClan really doing all they can to help us? They seem so…well…vague and distant right now…”

Patiently, Fadinghorizon’s mentor listened to the rambling she-cat with only kindness and understanding as she stroked Fadinghorizon’s back comfortingly with her feather-like tail. The cry of a jay caused the she-cat to look away from her apprentice; her icy gaze becoming unreadable as she faced the sky with a slightly glazed look. She seemed to be in deep thought about something…enough to detach her from reality in those spare few moments.

What the white healer said next was barely above a whisper.

”In times like these, we must let StarClan guide our paws and dedicate our faith to them. Our warrior ancestors have never stopped protecting us and doing all they can to help us. They can not do everything, Fadinghorizon, and they can’t do everything for us. We must live our lives and help one another, even if all seems lost and despair is surely upon us. StarClan will always pad by our sides and watch over us…I’m sure they want to help us so much now too…but even StarClan has its limits…

Fadinghorizon met her mentor’s eyes with a look of pure awe and hope as she pondered the older medicine cat’s wisdom. Moonblaze smiled warmly as she studied the realization that lit Fadinghorizon’s gaze like a shooting star.

”Sometimes…all we can do is hope.”

Moonblaze whispered to no one in particular as blinked into Fadinghorizon’s darker blue orbs.

The exchanging looks of undecipherable tranquility lasted for what seemed like moons…until Fadinghorizon ceased the quietude with an awkward meow.

”I should check on the other warriors now…(NPC)Mouseclaw was complaining about something…again…”

Fadinghorizon tilted her head slightly while turning towards the exit of the clearing nervously before returning her attention to the white beauty before her…striped tail tip flicking with slight tentativeness as she went on.

”Will…will you be alright here? It’s just…I feel like I should stay and watch the cats in the den with you…incase…you know…he comes over and threatens you again…”

Touched by the loyal and protective streak in her former-apprentice, Moonblaze’s contemplative gaze softened with the sweetness of what you would give to kin…or, perhaps, a daughter.

”Go ahead and do just that dear, I’ll be fine. Threats have never scared me before, and they surely won’t now. Especially from ignorant toms.”

Although Moonblaze’s light-hearted words reassured her, Fadinghorizon still had the urge to stay by her mentor’s side…if for the sake of making sure Moonblaze, her beloved teacher, precious friend, and…in some ways…foster-mother…yes…one of the cats she held the dearest…would still be there to greet her and comfort her whenever she left and returned.

”Oh Fadinghorizon, don’t give me that look! I’ll be fine, I promise! It’s not like you’re going to turn your back for just a second and I’ll be snatched away by a fox or a badger, or even plucked from the ground by StarClan themselves! I’m not some cranky elder who needs to be fussed over constantly…though, Mouseclaw truly is. You might want to see what she wants; you know how she is about waiting, for the clan’s sake…not mine.”

Despite the situation, Fadinghorizon giggled quietly as Moonblaze nudged her affectionately towards the exit of leafy ferns that loomed overhead like two beacons of greenery. With one last look, the pretty tabby mumbled an incoherent “fine” and “see you soon” before padding into the arch of bushes, her tapered tail disappearing from sight.

After a slight shiver of the hefty undergrowth, Fadinghorizon was gone.

Moonblaze sighed in relief, glad that young Fadinghorizon was letting lose a little bit, but still continued to faithfully serve and protect her clan. It worried the white healer how emotional the past-apprentice could get…but…that was normal for a she-cat her age, especially with the traumatic past she suffered, what, with losing her kin and such.

Disposing of any further negative thoughts with a shake of her pelt, Moonblaze padded into the direction of the medicine den whilst humming a lullaby her mother taught her whenever she was going through tough time. She had learned back when she was a mere kitten.

CRACK

”Moonblaze…”

Moonblaze frowned, ears twitching in suspicion from the noise…has Fadinghorizon returned already?

”Moonblaze!”

Again, the voice from before, which Moonblaze barely made out, pleaded like a reverberation of several hundreds of cat’s voices into one.

It made the skin underneath her fur crawl with a burning itch of unease.

Suddenly, a powerful and unearthly gale of cold ominous wind sent the ashen she-cat tumbling forcefully towards a pool of water off to the right of the medicine den, lifting her off her paws until she landed harshly onto the surface a little ways from the water. She thought she could smell the faint tang of rosemary on the air…along with…something else…

Picking herself up warily, Moonblaze shook the dirt from her fur and fought to regain clear vision once more; still dazed from the near-crash curtsey of the potent wind.

The medicine cat wasn’t given a single moment to ponder what had just happened as her gaze lingered; distracted, on something much more mystifying.

”That’s odd…”

Moonblaze frowned; perplexed, as her luminous moonstone eyes studied the body of water in amazement and…confusion?

”What in StarClan’s name is such a huge piece of fresh moss doing out here? No…where did the puddle come from? This wasn’t here before…none of it was…”

Ruminating over the phenomenon’s appearance profoundly, the snow-white she-cat moved to the edge of the falcate waters, her piercing blue gaze staring into the depths of the shallow puddle; offering nothing but her own pensive face outside of where the moss covered it...

This made no sense

Moonblaze was almost sure that this pool and the moss inside it weren’t present beforehand…but…being extremely fatigued from caring for her clan all morning, Moonblaze wouldn’t put it past herself to let exhaustion distort her senses of her surroundings or beginning to hallucinate.

Still, even with those excuses, something still felt…well…off…about the pool.

Though…things were only going to get stranger…

Curiously, the she-cat gingerly dabbed a paw towards the soaked moss, and once she came in contact with the fine blades of damp pine-green, a chilling sensation tore through her spine, threatening to split her body into two from the intensity that felt like icy lightning.

”Auuugh….urgh…wh-what? What’s going…on….urgggh, my paw!”

The StormClan medicine cat hissed sensitively, making sure she was quiet as to avoid alarming any cat nearby; alas, with her paw frozen to the clump of moss, the waters began to shift and a whispering hum similar to StarClan cats trying to communicate buzzed through Moonblaze’s ears before settling like a hive of bees filled her ears; deaf to the world around her.

Following the abnormal sensation and disturbing whisperings and bustling was blank an ethereal scene which unfolded within the pool.

On the mirror-like reflection, Moonblaze’s eyes suddenly stretched open in great alarm.

The image in the water began to shift, distorting the perfect reflection of the pool until a bright glowing moon that seemed to blaze within the waters from its intense beauty had materialized protectively around the clump of bright green moss; the flora shimmering ever so slightly in response. Squinting, Moonblaze held her breath as the moss began to deform and change into a black and white kit, sitting before the scorching full moon behind them. Though it didn’t stop there, Moonblaze’s icy gaze only grew wider as the moon had begun to change shape as well…turning into…well…herself! Moonblaze gasped in pure astonishment as the image of herself stood over the smaller cat lovingly, like her own mentor would do when she was a mere apprentice. The tuxedo cat seemed to expand and grow taller, until they stood as a well developed cat under the pool Moonblaze’s wing.

Like mentor and apprentice

But…

As quickly as it happened, it ended.

She only took a second to blink and not even a moment later, when she reopened her eyes, the pool and the moss planted in the center was gone…as if it had never happened…

As if it was some sort of hallucination she had concluded moments before…

As if it was a vision

A vision

The atmosphere shifted to one of silent eeriness that grew even more of such when the echo of a wolf’s howl resonated into her mind…the finishing chorus to a melody of oddities meant for only her ears…

A wolf…? Oh StarClan…help me…

Moonblaze shivered and shook her head, trying to dispel the heavy feeling of dread and concern that held her heart in a cruel embrace.

Remembering as she returned to veracity that her paw was still protruding to where the puddle had once been; trembling slightly from some unknown feeling Moonblaze failed to consider, Moonblaze forced it back. Her paw retracted towards her chest as she looked it over jadedly. It seemed normal…though she didn’t miss the tingling feeling that sparked inside her foreleg; scraps of moss still clinging to the velvet, silvery-white hairs of her paw-fur.

A sign that the vision of sorts really did happen.

She couldn’t utter a single word, as if her muzzle had been sealed shut from such an event.

She was never good at recovering from shock or happenings such as these.

So, speechlessly, Moonblaze forced her numb paws to force their selves forward, towards the makeshift medicine den. Moonblaze hadn’t noticed her bristling white fur until she sat down in her nest, the closest one to the entrance of the den. It was warm and freshly made by Fadinghorizon, who went out of her way to make sure Moonblaze was comfortable with the additions of soft moss and feathers. Though, it wasn’t the time to think about how nice of a nest it was…she directed her mind to what had just happened…as the medicine cat was still very shaken over it.

This could only be…a vision then…yes…a vision…a vision from StarClan…but…for what purpose?

The moon…the moss….the cat with a black and white pelt…they looked so familiar…but…the image was so blurred I couldn’t make much of the cat out…

StarClan…what are you trying to tell me? T-That…I should take on another apprentice?

There aren’t any tuxedo cats in the clan…but…maybe I’m interpreting this wrong…could it be from another…no…well…I don’t understand…ugh! These signs don’t get easier and easier as you go along…if anything…it gets harder…

Heaving a much needed breath that she had been holding since the moss pool ordeal, Moonblaze narrowed her crystal blue gaze considerably as she curled into the welcoming softness of her nest…just now realizing how tired she really was.

Maybe…if I focus my thoughts on StarClan and dream…they’ll show me a clearer answer…

I’ve done it before…I can do it again…if StarClan allows it…

I just feel…like…I can’t wait for the Moonpool visit…it must be happen now

After examining the three other cats in her den, Moonblaze returned to her nest, curling her long wispy tail over her lax and compact body; over her paws before it rested with a tickling brush upon her delicate yet sharp pink nose. Once comfortable, the medicine cat’s eyes began to flutter, sealing themselves shut from the visual wonders of reality and into the abyss of darkness known as sleep; allowing her exhaustion to catch up with her.

The last thing Moonblaze saw before her deep slumber was a pair of lustrous blue eyes before sleep came to finally claim her senses, bringing them into the darkness of the world of dreams…

“Sleep…dear one…sleep and know your next task…”

”RUN! RUN! GET AWAY FROM HERE! RUN!”

Cats screamed with panic filled voices as they dashed across the expanse of winding hills of moorland grass, dead and washed-out like curling weeds choking the life from budding flora. The ground began to crack and fissure tremendously, opening large crevices of drowning blackness within the earth unexpectedly; threatening to swallow every unfortunate thing in its path. What little trees stood proudly, in their withered states; whether young or old, snapped and crumbled, ultimately uprooting their selves and collapsing to their doom. Morose clouds of storming grays traveled across the sky, blocking the life-giving rays of the sun if only to add a more defeating sense of hopelessness to the cats fleeing below. Cries of horror and fear continued to choke the air with utter chaos as cats tore to and from the area in streaks of flashing fur. Some of the more unlucky ones stood still, stricken with fear as the ground they had once walked in safety gave in from under them.

An earthquake.

A very terrible earthquake.

”W-Where…am I?”

Moonblaze whispered softly, her body trembling as cats rushed by, not noticing the white medicine cat in their hurried escape.

Alas, she knew all too well of where she was.

Endless moors, the smell of rabbits in the air, and a breeze constantly ruffling the lands?

It could only be one place...

BreezeClan.

Fighting to stay calm, Moonblaze cried out to the cats around her, hoping that they could hear her calls above the caterwauling of surviving cats and deafening sounds of rumbling earth and collapsing woodland. Her heart tore in two as she watched a young tom scramble towards a jagged piece of earth, his paws clawing at something below. Squinting, Moonblaze located his objective, a pretty she-cat; perhaps his mate. The two looked desperately at one another while the she-cat frantically grabbed for his paws the tom offered in an attempt to save her. With a yowl of complete surprise, the she-cat slipped as a piece of jutting earth disintegrated under her weight, much to the horror of the tom. She screamed for help, to no avail, as gravity took its toll, leading to the cat’s downfall into the shadows inside the earth. The tom threw his head fall back in a wailing howl of pain, grieving for the she-cat with yowls of despair and sorrow. Moonblaze had a sinking feeling that the she-cat would not be the only one to die from this disastrous destruction.

Moonblaze had to warn the camp.

With her heart drumming against her chest like a mouse being hunted down, her paws led her towards down a narrow strip of untouched moors that started to fracture in her wake, dangerously so.

Something made her stop dead in her tracks…no…more like…someone

The pretty white she-cat halted, maw slightly agape in confusion as a flash of soft gray bolted through her.

And she meant bolted through her.

Moonblaze felt a strange sensation she couldn’t place her paw on as the gray…cat, had literally ran right through her; the snowy she-cat’s body dissipating slightly like she was made out of smoke or something as the cat phased passed her.

The StormClan medicine cat hadn’t even a chance to question it as she recognized with horror what the cat was doing. The gray cat was heading for a small black and white she-cat whose paws pounded against the ground as she took off in no particular direction with fear and confusion glittering in her large bright emerald eyes.

”NO! Come back!”

The cinder colored cat, a tom, yowled fearfully as he closed in on the panic-stricken she-cat. Suddenly, and sickeningly ironic with that, the ground beneath the young tuxedo she-cat caved in under her paws. “Help! Help me! Please!” The green eyed she-cat cried hysterically as she unsheathed her claws in order to cling to the mass of grassy surface for a pawhold while her body slid towards the jaws of a gaping breach in the earth that beckoned the she-cat in forcefully. ”NO!” The tom screeched helplessly as he leapt towards the white and black she-cat in a fleeting effort to save her. Moonblaze sprung forward to help the she-cat in great danger when a beautiful starry tail of golden brown dappled tail shot in front of her path in a commanding motion to halt. The bewildered medicine cat turned only to meet the twin new moon eyes of forest green beauty belonging to a lithe StarClan warrior who was none other than the late deputy of BreezeClan…Pebbleheart.

”Pebbleheart! What are you doing! We have to stop this! Please!”

Moonblaze choked out pleadingly with tears threatening her vision in extreme anxiety; chest heaving with the knowledge that she was meant to do nothing but watch the episode play out. Pebbleheart smiled grimly, the stars that shimmered in her glorious earthy fur dimmed ever so slightly as a sign of reluctance and grief before answering the healer bluntly.

”We can not interfere, no matter how much we want to.

It is his fate.

Yes.

This is all according to fate…this is his destiny.

We cannot change it.”

Silently, Pebbleheart resumed to watching the horrific scene unfold, along with Moonblaze, though her icy expression was round with helplessness and dread.

The tom did something which surprised Moonblaze but made her heart flare with awe simultaneously.

He had dove in after the nearly lost apprentice, grabbing a hold of her scruff and tugging it upwards with all of his mustered might. Moonblaze clenched her teeth anxiously as the surface supporting the wolf furred tom, which leaned dangerously into the hungry maw of the ground, began to collapse under his own paws. A few BreezeClan warriors who had been rushing by stopped to witness the event, only to stare powerlessly as Moonblaze was; knowing it was too dangerous to do anything to save their endangered clanmates.

Then, the BreezeClan tom attempted the unthinkable.

He heaved the tuxedo cat upwards with the remains of his mustered strength, safely out of harms way and away from the fissure in the earth.

”The past or the future…which is more important?...”

Pebbleheart whispered somberly into Moonblaze’s ear while the gray tom made a final stand to push Mosspaw away from the edge with his muzzle, emitting a strangled scream in the process.

”RUN!”

It was the last thing he said before the earth dragged him downwards into wallowing pits of the earth as it had the she-cat previously; like claws from the Dark Forest cats below. Shaken and trembling like a shuddering leaf against the wind, the young apprentice the tom had saved was hefted into the safety of a lanky, green-tinted, tabby warrior Moonblaze identified as Serpentfang, who had momentarily watched the sight with outstretched eyes; glued to the spot with shock. Alongside Serpentfang was a good friend of Moonblaze’s, a pretty and light-framed tortoiseshell-and-white she-cat who was also well known through out the clans, like Serpentfang; Snowcherry. They helped the stunned apprentice to her other clanmates with astonished and mournful expressions across their faces.

“No, Moonblaze, wait!”

Pebbleheart ordered in alarm as Moonblaze, not being able to take it anymore, followed the tom of which she finally recognized into the depths of the open earth, with outstretched paws out to save him…her friend… With that, the earth swallowed the duo whole; soil suffocating them in the dark eternal hold of sweet silent nothingness…

“The ground shall swallow the spirit of the Wolf when birdsong pierces the air…”

Moonblaze’s eyes quivered, slowly wrenching open to expose…blankness.

Confused, the medicine cat forced herself upwards, taking a moment to scan her vicinity.

It was…nothing.

Really, all she could see was white.

Nothing in any direction.

Complete oblivion.

A void.

Refusing to panic, Moonblaze got to her paws and started padding around in several directions, wondering if she would find a possible exit.

It was pointless though.

Honestly pointless.

Everything was exactly the same.

By the same, Moonblaze meant she still found herself in the empty void in which no matter direction you looked, you only saw whiteness.

Nothingness…

She felt as if she wasn’t really moving, that this wasn’t…well…real.

”Where am I!”

Her answer came in a slight brush of a tail, causing Moonblaze to breathe in sharply.

”Do not fear, brave medicine cat. This is just a form of a dream…an aftermath…if I may.”

Fur rising in alarm, Moonblazed turned to face the calm and unwavering form of Pebbleheart, who studied her with a thoughtful gaze.

”P-Pebbleheart. W-Why did you bring me here?”

Moonblaze’s flank rested once more in relief as she realized she was in no danger…at least, that she knew of. She also felt she had many questions bubbling inside of her, wanting to be asked…but the healer found it within herself to keep quiet and listen to the deputy’s words.

”I’ve simply brought you here to ask you a question and confirm something…”

”This is about…what you showed me…isn’t it…?”

”Yes…and…no…”

Moonblaze blinked quizzically, tilting her head to the side as she stared into Pebbleheart’s star-kissed expression with a half-hearted scowl.

”What do you mean? The answer makes little sense, as does the reason I’m here.”

”Patience, faithful one. The answers will reveal their selves in do time. But, for now, answer me this. Why did you jump after him?”

”I did it because I had to. A cat’s life is very precious and I believe that we must do what we can to preserve it.

And…

I would surely not leave one of my friends to die unless I could help it. They were in danger…and…it was so…real…I had to do something…I ignored all reason and logic and played “hero”…

But…

My life means little if I can save another’s life. Just as you said, the future and the past…which is more important? I believe both are. Each is just as dire and precious as the other, and are both needed in order to complete the present. If I could, I would risk my life to save either of those cats if I could. Does this answer you question?”

Moonblaze finished sternly, her gaze hard and icy, as if challenging the BreezeClan deputy to wrong her. A stare down of moonstone blue and emerald green followed until Pebbleheart began to chuckle…before breaking out into an all out mrrow of laughter.

”Mrrrow-ow-ow! Ah, Moonblaze, you never cease to amaze me. I believe StarClan chose well in picking you specifically for this task.”

This didn’t amuse Moonblaze in the slightest, as she narrowed her eyes questioningly, the seriousness in her face resolute.

”What do you mean by choosing me for a task. What kind of task? Does it have to do with BreezeClan…does it have to do with that sign? That she-cat? Wasn't the dream before this...aftermath...of sorts, a premonition of the future or something? He...he didn't really...die...did he?”

This time, Pebbleheart took on an expression of sincerity and firmness; appearing much more intimidating than she let on as she towered over the small white she-cat with her willowy size; her striking eyes flashed with something Moonblaze couldn’t read.

”I am sorry, Moonblaze of StormClan...but you must figure that out yourself.

But, allow me this.

StarClan is very proud of you...

Despite what you do that challenged our ways...

We know you're a wonderful medicine cat and one of the most talented to walk this forest at that.

We chose you and you alone for the proposition we entrust to you, whether you take it upon yourself or not. That is for you to decide…”

”Wait, that doesn’t answ-“

”Do not worry Moonblaze, I will take you to a place and a cat you hold dear. They will lead you to your answers. My only task was to confirm that you were indeed, the right choice that StarClan decided on. It seems I will return successful knowing that we were correct. Continue to dedicate your strong faith to us, Moonblaze, for it will only give you many blessings for both the present and your future”

With that, the world began to fissure much like an earthquake, broken pieces of this “world” revealing a swirling mass of blackness around the pair of cats; shattered like falling pieces of glass to reveal a black oblivion instead of a white one. Pebbleheart’s image shuddered and faded like stardust on the wind, the remains of a peaceful smile remaining until her form completely disappeared. Normally, Moonblaze would panic much like she did when she first found herself in this place, but now, she felt at peace.
Moonblaze felt her spirit to fall into the obscurity of endless shadow; letting the curling darkness swallow her whole in a single gulp.

“Have faith…for sometimes, it is all you have...”

User ImageA pair of limpid eyes of icy crystal fluttered open with panic swimming through them…before it faded into a more serene and nostalgic one as it took in the new atmosphere.

A beautiful star-kissed pool rested at the bottom of a great stone hollow of muted grays and earthy browns. The light bubbling of a stream could be heard bouncing from a steep overhang a little ways beside the hollow; crystal star water trickling into the small pond. Another stream from the silver-lit cliff traveled away from the pool and down the hillside…towards the valley of life below.

Next to the pool lay a flat smoky gray “beach” which was dappled with paw prints of ancient cats; they seemed to whisper from their embedded places. A sweet yet silent gale played, caressing all it passed by with warmth as it shook healthy green flora and towering trees which surrounded the area.

Stars glittered like specks of florescent ice as they danced in their midnight-blue utopia made up of a clear, cloudless sky. The most beautiful of all the celestial bodies within the heavens this night was a glorious full moon which radiated piercing brightness of silvery-white light, matching the color of a certain medicine cat that stood at the foot of the smoky “beach” beside the pool, her icy gaze concentrated, owl-eyed, at a figure standing before her.

”W-Wolfspirit?”

The cat facing her nodded grimly in response, his soft forest-green eyes sparkled like two newmoons; akin to sadness.

”Greetings and welcome to my dream, Moonblaze. It is me, as you've said. Wolfspirit.”

Wolfspirit welcomed politely, dipping his head as he closed the distance between them by maneuvering around the starry pool of icy water. Moonblaze, on the other hand, was frozen to the spot; truthfully amazed as she studied the tom.

Wherever his sparkling, frost-emitting paws touched as he moved, he left twinkling paw prints in his wake. His long fur coat shifted along his well-muscled form like a river of stars and eerie light had attached itself to his stormy gray pelt; making him appear like an ethereal creature…which…

He was.

He was a StarClan cat.

He was…dead.

...

It was no warning of the future afterall...the earthquake really did kill him...BreezeClan's only medicine cat...Wolfspirit...

For some reason or another, the she-cat couldn't bring herself to acknowledge that such a kind and gifted tom would hunt with his warrior ancestors so soon...

Wolfspirit stopped before her; his gaze settling on Moonblaze’s unreadable expression with something similar to sympathy and boundless wisdom and knowing. He offered her a gentle smile, like he always did whenever Moonblaze had seen him at the Gathering or the Moonpool.

Realization formed a lump as huge as boulders in her throat…and it hurt.

”Y-You’re…dead… Oh Wolfspirit, you were so young. I mean…while I'm humbled by your appearance and honor you as a new addition to StarClan’s mighty ranks…you…you had so many more moons to live wi-

Great StarClan…the…Pebbleheart’s words before the dream shifted…they were…they…

…The earth will swallow…the spirit…of the…Wolf…wh-“

”When birdsong pierces the air. Yes. I have perished and now walk the stars with our warrior ancestors... It was my time and my fate…no one could change that.”

Wolfspirit finished for her, curling his fluffy gray and white-tipped tail over his large white paws; snowy chest heaving ever so slightly as he breathed the smell of the passing seasons. Moonblaze tried to loose herself in the lucid scents of wintry leaf-bare, the floral aroma of green-leaf, the musky earthiness of leaf-fall, and the blossom breeze of new-leaf, to no avail.

She could not avoid the truce.

No one could.

No one can escape destiny.

Not even the kindest or noblest of cats.

It was the cold hard truce everyone had to face.

” With Ice-ear’s passing, you’ve left BreezeClan without a medicine cat with your death…”

Moonblaze mewed sympathetically as she looked the medicine cat up and down.

He was still so young, still had so much ahead of him.

But it was his fate...his time...

Yet…he had no apprentice…what would he do?

Was this why she had been called here?

”Yes, Moonblaze, you are correct. But, I have not departed from my clan without a successor.”

The ice-white she-cat gasped, her mind working the broken links of her dreams together…the sign in the pool…the moss…everything…

It was…it was…

It was becoming clear.

”T-That black and white she-cat...she…she was your apprentice…the she-cat you saved in my dream…the dream Pebbleheart sent…but…but what does this have to do with m-“

”The she-cat is my apprentice, as you’ve stated, and, Pebbleheart and I sent you the sign…but…neither Pebbleheart nor I had shown you the dream. We assumed the sign would be enough, but it seems our time to deliver the task was too close. We had to act now.“

Moonblaze blinked questioningly, her maw agape; revealing sharp and clean pearly teeth.

Who had?

Who sent her the dream then?

Before the she-cat could reply

”Please, Moonblaze, that is not important. I don’t have much time here, as you will soon leave to the waking world. For now, please hear the message and…request I have for you. Please.”

The late smoky medicine cat continued, his star-like eyes glittering like emeralds as he watched Moonblaze promptly sit up straighter and looked at him expectantly; quiet and obedient.

”My apprentice, Mosspaw, was appointed her position several days ago, barely a week into her training. She is a talented young she-cat who has a great path to tread as a future medicine-cat…but…she is without a mentor, as I have joined StarClan during the earthquake, as you’ve witnessed. While I can try to help her along with her ancestors in her training, she requires a cat in the realm of the living to teach her of her duties and the knowledge a medicine cat must now; such as herbs…and…she needs a cat to guide her paw steps in the right direction. She nee-“

Moonblaze blinked in realization, the sign and…well…everything, slamming into her heart like a deadly tackle in battle.

”Me.

I’m the cat you need.

You want me to train her.

You want me to become her mentor and teach her the ways of the medicine cat. This is the task Pebbleheart was sent to judge me upon…to decide if I was the right cat for this mission…Wolfspirit…I don’t know what to say…how…how will I…”

The luminous medicine cat trailed off uncertainly, looking down at her paws and averting her gaze; questioning the idea the she pondered over while Wolfspirit gazed down on her with understanding.

”I know you’re the right choice. I know you can mentor Mosspaw well and turn her into a wonderful medicine cat for her clan. While StarClan nor I can force this difficult duty upon you, I truly hope that you will. For the sake of my clan…and…yours. BreezeClan needs a medicine cat more than ever, and without me, Mosspaw is very lost and lacks the wisdom to aid her clan.

Please Moonblaze, consider this.

Not only do I and Pebbleheart…no…the whole of BreezeClan and its ancestors…ask of you to take the mentorship upon yourself.

She needs you too.

You’re the cat we’ve chosen.

StarClan believes you are the medicine cat to mentor her.

Mosspaw can not fulfill her duties nor complete her training without you.”

Moonblaze quietly listened with narrowed eyes, lost in thought while pondering the question as Wolfspirit spoke.

StarClan wished her to mentor Mosspaw until she’s completed her training.

It was easy for Moonblaze to decide whether she would or not.

She had never doubted StarClan and has never said no to them.

But…

”Wolfspirit. I will do it. I will train Mosspaw with everything I have ever learned and I will pass on what is needed to help her become a wonderful medicine cat for BreezeClan. But…tell me this…how will I do this? Surely you are not asking me to leave my clan and take up residence in BreezeClan to teach her…are you? An apprentice needs their mentor, especially a medicine cat apprentice. I can not be at to places at once. While I can leave StormClan knowing Fadinghorizon will watch over my clan…we are suffering troubled times…our herbs are so low…our searches unfruitful. What are we to do? I do with to train Mosspaw, but I can not see how I can successfully accomplish this.”

As she spoke, Wolfspirit beamed with genuine happiness as he nodded to the she-cat in great thanks; eyes shining brighter, if that were possible.

He looked much more at peace with her answer, Moonblaze noticed, knowing that the tom was probably still shaken from joining the starry sky so quickly and all...

Anyways...

Wolfspirit and the dream began to fade into nothingness; Moonblaze getting to her paws in a flash with a pleading look in her eye for the answers to her unanswered questions.

”Wait! Wolfspirit, you can’t leave yet! You haven’t told me th-“

”I can not tell you everything Moonblaze, as this is how StarClan always has and always will work. But do not fret, the answers to your questions will make their selves known sooner than you think. For now, rest well and serve your clan loyally as you always have.

For now, this is fare well. You are needed in the waking world once more…but heed this Moonblaze…

StarClan has put their faith in you as you have in them. Have faith…as you always say, my friend.”

”Wait, what do you mean! Wait! Wolfspirit! Wait!”

The pretty she-cat stared in horror as the dream started to flicker and dissolve like mist lifting itself. Moonblaze could do nothing nor say anything as the dream faded into the dark existence of nothingness; an echo of a wolf’s howl and Wolfspirit’s resonating muse barely audible as the noises of reality began booming in her ears.

”Train my apprentice well, Moonblaze of StormClan…we have faith in you…as you have in us…”

Warm sunlight flooded a pair of closed eyelids, flourishing in the darkness of consciousness in a mocking sense to tell their owner that time was, indeed, up. Without a sound, those very eyelids shot open in alarm as a paw prodded her awake, gently as first, but now, it was more firmly and urgent as if whatever this cat wanted was urgent. Moonblaze stifled a small yawn before focusing her eyes on her visitor.

She looked up, right into the eyes of her best friend through kit hood and even now, Thunderflight, otherwise known as the deputy of StormClan. At this, Moonblaze immediately rose to her paws and dipped her head, a rare look of embarrassment passed through the medicine cat’s striking icy eyes as she sheepishly smiled.

”I’m very sorry for the delay, as I was dozing off and must’ve fallen asleep…anyways, what can I do for you Thunderflight?”

"Moonblaze, I think Silverstar will be needing you,"

Moonblaze hadn’t a single second to respond as her friend, fluffing her already feathery fur in frustration as whatever was bothering the she-cat before she arrived…or so the medicine cat hoped. Before the pretty white healer could question the deputy as to why their leader requested her presence so unexpectedly, Thunderflight nudged her towards the entrance of the makeshift medicine den. The ebony furred she-cat wasted no time as she streaked for the clearing’s exit, calling something back to the hurrying Moonblaze as she disappeared within the underbrush.

"If you heard anything that oblivious deputy shouted, you'll know why!"

What…?

The sad thing was....

Moonblaze hadn’t heard of the message from the deputy of whatever clan they belonged to; whether it was the feisty Dragonfire of SeaClan, cunning Falconwind of NightClan, or the new yet brave deputy of BreezeClan, Valiantstride, had apparently proclaimed with ignorance…but…

She had a strange feeling in her conscious that told her she knew exactly what Thunderflight meant.

Without hesitating for another moment, the medicine cat trailed after her friend as Thunderflight led her to their destination with a gesturing tail.

Moonblaze had a feeling she’d be reasoning with a certain tiger-striped deputy very soon.

”Hah…hah….hah…Greetings, Silverstar…I apologize for my absence as I had been…busy…”

A breathless Moonblaze addressed her noble leader with a respectful dip of her mottled head before seating herself beside Thunderflight; giving her best friend an amused look as she regained her mature and serious composure. She sat directly across from the deputy of BreezeClan, which triggered Moonblaze to catch her breath in surprise; though it disappeared the instant she remembered her dream…

It was Valiantstride indeed.

Just as she assumed it would be.

This was what Wolfspirit meant…

"It's kind of you to grace us with your presence, Moonblaze."

Valiantstride greeted as he seemed to drink in the elegant she-cat’s appearance, whiskers twitching, quiet purr, and all…much to the obliviousness of said she-cat. Moonblaze simply nodded, blinking towards his teasing attitude with a warm smile she’d offer any cat she came across; the handsome deputy being no different. She answered him calmly, sympathy evident in her tone as she regarded the tom; though she was blind to his flirting as she responded politely.

”Ah, as to you too, Valiantstride. Though, I wish it could be of more…pleasant circumstances.”

Moonblaze concluded softly as she turned her attention to Silverstar as her leader broke in with her naturally regal muse that always seemed to gain the consideration of others whenever she wanted it.

"Ah, just in time. Moonblaze, we have come up with a deal. Since their medicine cat apprentice is without a mentor and they are seeking your assistance, I have asked for them to share their herb stocks with us for the entirety of Mosspaw's apprenticeship. Are you willing to take on a second apprentice from another Clan? Has StarClan shown you any signs about this?"

Time seemed to stop just after Silverstar had finished and now waited keenly for Moonblaze’s answer.

This is what you meant…Wolfspirit…our clans will both benefit from this deal…though…I still question what you mean by everything working out if I must possibly leave my clan for a time to mentor young Mosspaw…not only that…but…will she even warm up to me since I’m practically replacing her mentor…after his all too sudden death? She might…reject me and refuse…or…Oh StarClan, help me…

A soft and reassuring whisper on the wind answered the frantic medicine cat; hot on her ear as if someone had actually bent down and voiced their thoughts physically for only her to hear.

”Do not worry yourself…everything will be fine…now…tell them what they must know…StarClan is with you…”

Sighing inwardly, Moonblaze prepared herself mentally and physically before revealing the sign and more.

”I see…

Silverstar, this deal sounds very promising if we are to take it up. Not only will we have the means to help out clanmates, we would be ensuring that BreezeClan will prosper with a proper medicine cat.

As for the answer for Mosspaw’s training…

StarClan has indeed sent me a sign. Earlier this sunhigh, I witnessed a sign of within a pool by the medicine den that held a large clump of moss at its center. Before I had the chance to think otherwise, StarClan showed me a vision of a small black and white she-cat, who I am sure was Mosspaw and…oddly enough…myself, watching the she-cat grow into a lovely medicine cat for her clan. The whispers of confirmation during the vision confirm that it is willed by StarClan that I take a second apprentice and train Mosspaw in the ways of the medicine cat, which I may pass down all I know to this young apprentice…

The only concerns I have is that in how I’ll train Mosspaw if I have a duty to serve to my clan. Not only that, but I can not be at two places at once, knowing that Mosspaw needs a mentor almost at all times in order to teach her what she needs to know. I can not simply travel to and from every day to mentor this apprentice.”

Moonblaze paused, gazing at her clanmates and the deputy with glittering eyes of determination, sternness, and the wisdom of StarClan. She knew that this was her duty and hers alone to fulfill. The StormClan medicine cat regarded her peers with a firm nod of her head before continuing confidently.

”But, that does not influence my final decision in the slightest…as I know that I must do this…

I shall take Mosspaw as my apprentice and become her new mentor, strengthened by the will of StarClan.”

Silverstar

Silverstar nodded at Moonblaze, flicking her ears. "Very well," she assented. "StarClan has made their decision. Perhaps they were planning this all along. In any case, we need BreezeClan's herbs, and they need our Medicine cat. It's not quite an even trade, but it'll have to do."

Turning to Valiantstride, Silverstar continued, "Go back to Galestar and give him our counter proposition. Don't forget that we want an answer from your apprentice at the Moonpool tonight. Moonblaze, be sure to meet her near the BreezeClan border. She hasn't made the journey yet and she'll need you to guide her there."
The silver-furred she-cat dipped her head at the BreezeClan deputy, twitching her whiskers. "Our condolences over the loss of Wolfspirit. Times are hard enough with the misfortune we've encountered. May StarClan light your path."

With that, she dismissed the deputy. Hopefully he'll heed my warning and report to Galestar, or else he'll get another scathing lecture! she thought to herself with half-amusement, half-frustration.

Darkstorm blinked, slightly amused by the she-cat's zest. She was full of passion and life. It reminded him of Thunderflight, although Miraclesky was much more energetic. She was like a blazing sun shining positivity everywhere. To tell the truth, pretty much anything positive reminded him of his beloved daughter. She could do no wrong in his eyes (even if she was actually wrong). It was no secret that Thunderflight was the most important thing in his world. The thought pleased him, and he found himself favoring Miraclesky simply for reminding him of it.
His pleasure subsided after her remembered their current situation, however.

"Your first instinct was play," he inquired, dark blue eyes flicking over to Ebonysun briefly, "even after our camp was destroyed by raging ground?"
He was not expressing any hostility, but his tone was serious.
"We have much work now," he rumbled. "You need to focus on warrior duties."
He glanced around before leaning in closer and adding in a lighter tone, "And if you want play, that is last cat you should ask. He is no fun, I assure you, only big downer."

He flicked her pelt with his tail kindly, friendliness flashing in his dark blue eyes. Although he had chastised her, he admired her zealousness and respected her warrior rank. He did not mean to order anyone around, but advice never hurt anyone, right?

LOCATION: Stormclan makeshift camp
COMPANY: Silverstar, Moonblaze
OOC: He's gonna get into so much trouble with Silverstar XDDDDD

As much as Valiantstride behaved as a perfect gentletom to the beautiful medicine cat, it seemed to have no effect on her. Moonblaze’s demeanour was pleasant and sweet as ever, as he had heard from other cats in Breezeclan who had had the fortune of meeting her in cat (person). The white medicine she-cat purred in return, replying that she wished that they had met under better circumstances. ”The same can be said for yourself, fair Moonblaze.” He purred with eyes narrowed into relaxed slits. Medicine cats may be cursed to stay single their entire lives, but that did not seem to deter Valiantstride from acting extra pleasant and friendly towards her.

His ears pricked when the medicine cat began describing her sign in great detail, though he barely understood half of it. Valiantstride had never been particularly close to Starclan, he believed in their warrior ancestors as much as the next cat. If she said she received some holy sign from Starclan, he didn’t care if it was true or not. All he cared about was whether or not the Breezeclan apprentice has a mentor, and it seemed that he had his answer in Moonblaze. ”Breezeclan is in your debt, Moonblaze.” He meowed to the white she-cat, not caring if he was using these grave words in a much too carefree manner. He nodded briskly to Silverstar when she told him to return to Galestar and notify him of Stormclan’s counter offer. ”Of course, Silverstar. Rest assured, I’ll escort Mosspaw to the border myself so you can be sure that no harm will come to fair Moonblaze from any Breezeclan warriors at the border.” While not many Breezeclan cats would be stupid enough to attack a medicine cat from another clan, Valiantstride did not pass up this chance to show off his valiance (pun intended). ”Thank you, Wolfspirit was a noble and wise medicine cat. His death is hard on us all, particularly on Galestar.” It was no secret to the other clans that the Breezeclan leader was very close to his medicine cat. He could remember distinctly the look of despair on Galestar’s face when he stepped out to announce the medicine cat’s death, so soon after the death of the late deputy Pebbleheart. With one last nod towards the clan leader, Valiantstride turned and started trotting away, holding his injured paw against his chest. ”See you tonight, Moonblaze.” He said with a playful wink at the medicine cat, then turned and dashed off before Silverstar decided to personally claw his whiskers off for flirting with Stormclan’s medicine-cat-soon-to-be-Mosspaw’s-mentor.

Dawnrise walked into camp, a mouse in her jaws. She blinked as she noticed the Breezeclan deputy. She shrugged it off, and moved over to the freshkill pile. She places her mouse down, and then stretches.

"What a strange scene indeed.."

She mummers as she spots the mud covered Ebonysun. She can't help but burst out in a meow of laughter at the cranky cat. She turned to the freshkill pile once more and picks out a small vole. She sat down well away from the mud puddles and picked at the feathers meagerly. She wasn't very hungry, but she knew she had to fill up her stomach. She felt a wave of nausea hit her, and she let's out a small groan. She pushes the vole away and stands up once more.

"I don't want to bother the medicine cat..."

She moves to a quiet corner at the edge of the camp, a wave of dizziness hitting her. She knew she needed to rest, but she didn't want to give away that she was sick. They needed all the paws they could get to hunt and patrol. She lays her head on her paws, and curls her small tail around her paws.

User Image”The same can be said for yourself, fair Moonblaze.”

Blissfully oblivious to the handsome tiger-striped tom’s words, the she-cat simply returned his words with a brilliant white smile that only made her all the more beautiful. Moonblaze turned towards her silver leader as the noble StormClan she-cat began to wrap up the meeting with a stern meow.

"Very well,"

While Moonblaze was more than pleased that Silverstar acknowledged her sign from StarClan and allowed the medicine cat to train young Mosspaw, the pretty medicine cat couldn’t help but narrow her eyes at the silver tabby's following words.

"StarClan has made their decision. Perhaps they were planning this all along. In any case, we need BreezeClan's herbs, and they need our Medicine cat. It's not quite an even trade, but it'll have to do."

The trade is more than enough for StormClan. Herbs are of much more importance than I am to the clan at this moment. While I have more experience, Fadinghorizon is also a full-fledged medicine cat with the spirit and exceptional ability to be perfectly capable on her own; though she’s still considered my apprentice. StormClan will not be at a loss…instead, my precious clan shall strive with this medicine-alliance with BreezeClan.

It’s all worth it…

Moonblaze’s haunches shifted ever so slightly as she angled her sensitive ears in Valiantstride’s direction; his smooth voice closely following Silverstar’s.

”Breezeclan is in your debt, Moonblaze.”

”Think nothing of it, brave Valiantstride. It is my honor to serve your clan as Mosspaw’s mentor. I can only hope your clanmates will feel the same.

The pretty she-cat retorted considerately with a soft smile as she thought back to the mentorless tuxedo she-cat; pity flashing in her gaze.

Yes…I can only hope…

It is possible that Mosspaw will reject me or refuse…

But, I must believe that everything will work out in everyone’s favor…as StarClan stated…

Mosspaw…I will not fail you…I will try to fill Wolfspirit’s pawprints as much as I can…

The StormClan medicine cat was unable to continue as Silverstar broke through her thoughts with a final conclusion, pine green eyes baring nothing but that of a just and understanding leader.

"Go back to Galestar and give him our counter proposition. Don't forget that we want an answer from your apprentice at the Moonpool tonight. Moonblaze, be sure to meet her near the BreezeClan border. She hasn't made the journey yet and she'll need you to guide her there."

”As you wish, Silverstar. I will do my best to aid young Mosspaw."

”Of course, Silverstar. Rest assured, I’ll escort Mosspaw to the border myself so you can be sure that no harm will come to fair Moonblaze from any Breezeclan warriors at the border.”

Valiantstride had replied as a heroic glint flitted within the confident deputy’s gaze; the medicine cat to tilt her head quizzically.

Medicine cats stood outside the clan rivalries, so skirmishes with BreezeClan warriors of the like seemed rather unlikely. Besides, if anything, BreezeClan had always been generous and or friendly whenever she passed by on trips to the sacred Moonpool, especially the striking tortoiseshell, Snowcherry and the amiable Galestar. In all, the she-cat doubted anything like that would occur…though…the recent earthquake has set every cat on their guard with anxiety especially high after the disaster’s devastating strike. The medicine-cat wandered just how BreezeClan was doing at the thought of her BreezeClan friend and the evanescent upheaval…

Were they fairing well?

She had heard of Galestar’s kits recently becoming apprentices…she wondered if the little scraps were alright.

Were the few elders they had striving?

The queens?

The young?

The clan?

BreezeClan had surely suffered casualties or injuries during the quake…and…with wounded cats…

A grave feeling pitted in the white healer’s stomach like a piece of crow-food just thinking about the possibilities.

She would have to ask Mosspaw of BreezeClan’s wellbeing at the Moonpool.

Moonblaze chased away the negative thoughts with a quick mental prayer to StarClan that BreezeClan hadn’t suffered much…besides their medicine cat’s death…before shooting Valiantstride an appreciative look. It was kind of him to offer himself as an escort for the most likely shaken BreezeClan medicine cat apprentice, as Moonblaze could only imagine what the she-cat was going through…

Silverstar’s both fierce and stern orbs softened as she dismissed him at the end of the meeting, causing Moonblaze to smile earnestly.

The leader wasn’t known to be unpleasant…at least, for very long.

"Our condolences over the loss of Wolfspirit. Times are hard enough with the misfortune we've encountered. May StarClan light your path."

”Thank you, Wolfspirit was a noble and wise medicine cat. His death is hard on us all, particularly on Galestar.”

”Give Galestar my best wishes. Wolfspirit was one of the greatest medicine cats I’ve ever met, not to mention a valuable and beloved friend. I will truly honor his death, as will StarClan, as we grieve for BreezeClan’s loss tonight at the Moonpool.”

The BreezeClan warrior and the StormClan leader exchanged a few final words; Moonblaze also contributing to the conversation, though she couldn’t escape the stab of pain in her heart at the mention of the late medicine cat, Wolfspirit.

He truly was a noble and wise medicine cat…one of the best of his clan.

Nodding, the tabby deputy retreated; his paw…oh StarClan…his paw!

How had she not noticed before?

She must've been quite distracted to not have spotted it immediately...

Urgh…Valiantstride did very well to hide it from her and the clan…perhaps trying to avoid showing weakness…

She probably would’ve fretted over it immediately if she noticed earlier anyways, and the tom would never return to the clan once she was through with him. Moonblaze pleaded to her starry ancestors in silence for his paw to not be too bad off until she could properly heal it… Perhaps after the Moonpool visit, Moonblaze could accompany Mosspaw back to BreezeClan and tend to the injured.

”See you tonight, Moonblaze.”

Valiantstride masked the pain he must’ve felt very well as he sent a more-than-friendly wink to the mottled she-cat; the flirtatious gesture not bothering the she-cat in the slightest.

Now that she thought of it, Valiantstride acted rather odd towards her through out the meeting.

Of course, he must just be very polite to cats he respects and such...as this was probably the first time he'd ever spoken face-to-face with StormClan's infamous Moonblaze.

But, thinking nothing of his especially sweet attitude towards her, Moonblaze flashed Valiantstride a compassionate look towards his paw before calling after him.

”Oh, don’t walk on that paw too much and rest! I suggest you let a warrior take your place as Mosspaw’s escort though as sprains require rest and keeping off of it as much as possible… StarClan go with you!”

Rambled the medicine cat until she watched the gorse tremble with his departing form melted through it. Sighing, Moonblaze turned towards Silverstar and the silent but witnessing Thunderflight.

”I am glad we’ve come to an agreement. Though, Silverstar, how do you wish to approach the fact of my duties? I can not remain with StormClan for a majority of Mosspaw’s training, as I will be needed to teach her at all times.

Day and night.

Do you wish for me to take temporary residence until Mosspaw is ready to complete her medicine cat training? I’m sure Fadinghorizon will take very good care of you all…but…”

Moonblaze’s soft muse trailed off, suddenly acknowledging the fact that she may not have the pleasures of being around her clanmates for some period of time while training Mosspaw…she’s most likely have to take residence with BreezeClan for several moons until she was sure Mosspaw was able to take care of her own clanmates as a medicine cat. Her gaze flickered like a candle from Silverstar to Thunderflight for reassurance and answers that she honestly couldn’t answer without a stinging sentiment in her heart.

Oh StarClan…I hope I’m making the right choice…

I wonder what Moonblaze is up too?

Fadinghorizon pondered in the silence of her thoughts as she finished checking over (NPC) Mistfern’s wounds with what little cobweb she had managed to gather. Sighing inwardly, the orange tabby she-cat pressed the remaining silky bandages to the tom’s flank.

She had just finished checking over her clanmate’s wounds for the second time, a few having reopened them or returned with new ones…but…it was nothing a little cobweb couldn’t fix, thank StarClan. The young medicine cat didn’t dare think of returning to the medicine den for herbs, knowing that they had to save what they had…though…Moonblaze would be more than willing to offer anything she could to help her clan.

She must be asleep or something...she did work really hard today...

It’s what she loved about her mentor.

She was always so compassionate and kind, putting off her needs for that of others…and...she let Fadinghorizon sleep in all the time and such...

With a grunt of thanks, Mistfern stalked towards a group of warriors conversing by the clearing. Fadinghorizon watched him go, contemplating the idea of heading out of camp to search for herbs once again when a dark figure caught the corner of her brilliant blue orbs.

”Dawnrise, are you alright? You seem ill…has Moonblaze inspected you yet?”

Fadinghorizon mewed sincerely with a tilt of her head, questioningly, as she padded towards the dark furred she-cat who lay, isolated from the clan, in a lonely corner of camp in a resting position. Gingerly, the tabby lowered her head to meet the ebony warrior’s stormy gaze that always left an unsettling feeling in the healer’s heart whenever she looked into them…

They always looked…well…intense.

But, that wasn’t the point.

If a clanmate was in trouble, it was top priority to treat them.

Hoping to encourage the she-cat, Fadinghorizon dropped to her paws carefully and smiled warmly towards Dawnrise with a vigilant gaze.

Ivorymoon was aware of a small paw prodding him in the side while he slept between the bushes. With a small groan of annoyance, the gray warrior swatted at the stray paw with his tail. He’d been on a hunting patrol and trying to clear up the damage around the Oak Tree, only to move once again to safer grounds among the grass and small brush. His paws ached with the effort while his wary mind tried to make sense of the past occurrences. It didn’t help that a rogue was here as well, being tended to unconditionally by Moonblaze...with the remaining herbs his brother had worked so hard to salvage from the wreckage. It made him feel sick that her snow-white paws should be hovering over flea-bitten fur, which unconsciously triggered an irate wrinkle of the nose. Such thoughts buzzed around his mind like some heat-maddened new-leaf fly, making it hard for him to fall asleep. Suddenly the constant nudging became more persistent…

                                                            Nom!

He felt a soft bite on his flyswatter of a tail that quickly formed into a small spot of pain. His lids came up slowly over his eyes, revealing pale ice blue slits that were met with wide golden hues. He was staring nose to nose with none other than his apprentice Blizzardpaw, whose mouth was filled with gray fur. Blizzardpaw squeezed Ivorymoon’s tail again. The gray warrior blinked once or twice to clear the blurriness from the edges of his vision before raising himself so he was in an upright position, towering over the apprentice’s small form.
Strange, Blizzardpaw doesn’t try to approach me first. It is usually me who has to go and find him when its time to train… Ivorymoon tilted his head in questioning, at the same time trying to pull his tail free.

“Eeeborypoon…!” Blizzardpaw mewed over the fur in his mouth. He noticed his fur standing on end, shaking as if he had taken a dip in the river. The apprentice finally let go and the words tumbled out “I-It’s the fist time I smelled something other than our camp and the prey! I thought my senses were just messing with me and I just had to relax…but then this strange cat came barging into our camp and started talking about their camp and medicine cat. And…and then Silverstar came and took him away…” Staring up at Ivorymoon he asked. “What does it mean? Is Silverstar going to fight him? Are we going to have to fight—?”

Ivorymoon covered the apprentice’s mouth with his tail and shook his head to the bombardment of questions. If he kept going on like that he was going to run out of breath and pass out. Even with Blizzardpaw’s rushed report he couldn't quite make out what the real problem was. “You need to calm down.” Ivorymoon meowed slowly. “You are only making assumptions. It sounds like only one Breezeclan warrior came, which means it’s most likely to negotiate. Right now, try not to worry so much about this. I’m sure the matter will be handled shortly…”

He padded out of the makeshift den, Blizzardpaw following at his paws. His ears perked at the sound of an unsuspecting thud, following by his apprentice’s small purr of amusement. Ivorymoon followed the sound, slate blue eyes widening slightly at the site before him. It was either Ebonysun was trying to have some ‘fun’…or he was the unluckiest cat in the world, courtesy of the Fates that are Starclan. The two cats padded over to the three around the mud patch, Ivorymoon a little reluctantly in fear of being given the same treatment.

“Darkstorm!” Blizzardpaw mewed excitedly, running towards the wall of fluffy black fur that was his grandfather. He was just relieved to see a cat who wasn't dreary Ivorymoon. Ever since the start of his training he had less and less time with his family…especially his father Whisperblade. Seeing Darkstorm drowned all his anxieties of before, maybe even forgetting about them for the sake of this relieving moment. There was also the fact that his mentor hung around Ebonysun all the time…a cat Blizzardpaw felt was the Dark Forest itself. Especially those eyes… How can Ivorymoon sta— “Wah!” Blizzardpaw slipped on his paws and fell face-first into the patch of mud. In that instant he was pawing frantically against his face, trying to wipe it all away…but only spreading it around. “I can’t get it off! Getitoffgetitoffgetitoff! I-I don’t wanna go blind!” He whined.

Ivorymoon could only stare while he watched his apprentice thrash around in the mud patch. “You certainly have the energy of a warrior, just not the control as of yet…”

((OOC: Lovin's the new Ivorymoon graphic...can't stop staring at dem eyes *Q*))

LOCATION: Muddy patch
COMPANY: Darkstorm, Miraclesky, Ivorymoon, Blizzardpaw
OOC: Darkstorm's gonna murder him for stomping on his grandkit XD

By now, Ebonysun’s fur was utterly covered in mud, making him look more like a brown monster of the swamp than a cat. His waterlogged fur weighed him down and plastered his fur uncomfortably to his skin, making him seem smaller than he actually is. A light breeze blew through the makeshift campsite, making him shiver slightly. He was going to make Miraclesky very sorry for this. While the ginger she-cat pranced around commenting on how fun the whole experience was to her, Ebonysun snarled and stomped his paw onto the branch he had just tossed into the air, snapping it into pieces in his rage. Again, Miraclesky seemed not to have noticed that he was in a very foul mood. ”Nothing, but I do wish that branch was your head instead.” He angrily spat and flicked his paw upwards, sending the splintered pieces of the twig into her face. He wasn’t allowed to attack a fellow clan member, but if this continues, he might lose what little control he had over his temper very soon.

Darkstorm’s words did not do anything to improve Ebonysun’s already low opinion of him. Always poking his nose into matters that were not any business of his! ”Get your foxdunging pelt out of my face.” He spat as he rudely brushed past Darkstorm, barging his shoulder into the maine coon’s side as he padded away.

It seemed that his brother Ivorymoon had arrived just in time to come to his rescue. With Blizzardpaw in tow, the two of them headed towards the group that had gathered around the muddy patch, all because of Miraclesky and her idea of fun. ”I need a bath.” He growled as he walked towards his brother, his fur so covered with mud that he was a sloppy wet brown mess. The only spot that wasn’t covered was his left eye, where he had managed to paw the mud off and at least see out of one eye. At that moment, Blizzardpaw started running towards his grandfather (LOL THOR IS OLD) excitedly, but the clumsy young cat seemed to have tripped on his own paws and fell head-first into the very patch of mud Miraclesky had thrown him into. The strangely-patterned apprentice started whining and yowling for all he was worth, whimpering that he did not want to go blind. It was no secret to the clan that Ebonysun hated these kits with a passion. Not a drop of clan blood in them! They were the result of a rogue mating with another rogue, yet they were still allowed to live as part of the great Stormclan that he was so loyal to! It disgusted him to his very core. ”Quit your whining, kit.” He growled as he walked into the muddy patch to get to his brother. As he passed Blizzardpaw, he stomped his hind paw into the apprentice’s back, knocking the breath out of the young cat’s lungs. ”Crowfood-eating rogue.” He snarled as he made his way to Ivorymoon, standing beside his brother and shaking his head to get the mud out of his ears. He was going to need a very long bath to get this out.

TAKE ME INTO YOUR DARKEST HOUR

█ ██ █████ ███████████ ████████████████ █████████████████

Miraclesky sobered immediately, realizing what Darkstorm said was true. Her blue eyes grew serious, and she glanced sideways at Ebonysun, mumbling about how he wished that branch was her head. Flicking her tail at that comment in a brush-off, Miraclesky dipped her head respectfully at Darkstorm. Despite his entire rogue blood, she valued his opinion as her elder and as a warrior of StormClan, no matter what blood ran through his veins.

"Yes, Darkstorm. I will refrain from rash behavior in dire situations such as this from now on." Miraclesky answered these words in a completely solemn tone, her eyes reflecting her vindiction of this promise.

Miraclesky twitched her whiskers at Darkstorm's next comment, about Ebonysun being a big downer. Her eyes flashed with devious amusement, and she shook her head ever so slightly. Naw, that just makes it even more fun to play with him! Miraclesky thought, a very small devious smile crossing her face. The ginger she-cat gave Darkstorm a friendly lick on the ear, dragging mud across her tongue. She discreetly spat it out, looked back at Darkstorm sheepishly, then turned in time to see Ivorymoon and Blizzardpaw arrive, and also see Ebonysun stomp the apprentice's back.

Fur bristling, her entire mood changed as she saw this action, Miraclesky snarled at Ebonysun, her blue eyes storming, any trace of amusement fleeing from her expression. Her ears flattened in anger, the fiery she-cat stalked back up to the tom, helping Blizzardpaw up from the mud as she went. Once the small apprentice was nudged away from Ebonysun and out of the mud, Miraclesky turned her furious blue stare on the fiery-eyed tom.

"The entirety of StormClan knows of your hatred for rogue blood, o pure-blooded Ebonysun, but there is absolutely no need to take it out on a young apprentice who had no fault. You may be a pure blooded StormClan cat, but no true warrior would take out aggressions against other cats on a defenseless apprentice," Miraclesky spat directly into Ebonysun's face.

Disgusted with the tom she had just been having a grand time with and had been beginning to form a more pleasant opinion of, for his actions spoke much louder than his words, the stormy-eyed ginger warrior stepped away from him, turned, and as she began to retreat out of camp to wash the dirt from her fur, she turned her head to give Ebonysun one last piercing glare, and then slammed her covered and dripping in mud, enormously absorbant tail across the tom's face, purposely covering his one clean eye and filling both his ears with mud. She slapped him once again across the other side, just for good measure, then trotted out of camp, ruffling her pelt as she went.

Served him right for treating poor Blizzardpaw like that. Perhaps that tom deserves what I had previously thought an injust opinion of him.

Silverstar

Silverstar mulled over Moonblaze's question silently for a few moments. Finally, she sighed, "It seems we have no other choice but to let them keep you for as long as they need. Mosspaw won't be able to handle a situation that goes wrong, and things can go wrong during day or night. See what Galestar says. I'm sure he'll be more than happy to keep you for days at a time. Fadinghorizon will do alright on her own- she may not be used to working by herself, but that's what medicine cats usually do. Besides, she was mentored very successfully by you. I'm sure she'll be alright."

"You'll come back though, right?" Thunderflight cut in, sorrow glittering in her sincere blue eyes. "Please come back and visit every once in a while! I-...we-we'll miss you terribly!"
The deputy's ears were flattened, and her tail drooped low on the ground. Silverstar blinked at her, surprised. Sometimes I forget that Thunderflight and Moonblaze have been lifelong friends. The higher rankings they were granted keep them busy all day, and they don't see each other very much as it is even though they're in the same Clan.
Silverstar hadn't thought about what effect it would have on Thunderflight.

"Of course she can," Silverstar assented sympathetically. "Whenever things aren't too busy in BreezeClan."

It dawned on her that she was giving up one of her medicine cats for another Clan, and she felt regret wash over her for a moment. But she shook it away determined to have faith in StarClan's sign of approval. Moonblaze is strong. She won't lose her loyalty for StormClan just because of this. While it's true she'll grow closer to BreezeClan cats, she'll always have a home here. If anything, this well help StormClan. The Clans need to band together once more...this will help BreezeClan trust us, and provide us with an ally. That is a very good thing.
Silverstar flicked her ears, pride shining in her eyes. StormClan was lucky enough to have two medicine cats, a feat that wasn't usually accomplished. Normally, a medicine cat apprentice kept their -paw name until their old mentor died, but she had tried something radically different with Fadingpaw and StarClan hadn't objected. She was certain that NightClan would've copied them if Hauntednight hadn't abandoned them. Rabbitfoot was a wonderful medicine cat, albeit a grumpy one. Her eyes narrowed at the thought of Hauntednight. She was perhaps one of the worst medicine cats the Clans had seen. Moreover, regardless of her healing abilities, she treated her Clan with utter disrespect. Apparently, she'd had not one, but two litters with two different toms, and she'd abandoned her Clan for the second litter. Silverstar just knew that was part of the reason Foxstar was being so aggressive. He was worried NightClan seemed weak to the other Clans, and he was overcompensating on their behalf. But perhaps it was true; what Clan could have so little control over their medicine cat? Lavenderstar hadn't been the best leader, it seems. Shatteredfang's disaster of a relationship with the SeaClan exile was yet another ruin of hers. But Lavenderstar wasn't the worst, either.
Silverstar sighed heavily. Could I have done better? Thunderflight fell in love with what might as well be an exile, too. Thankfully, Whisperblade was nothing like Darkshadow was. Still...perhaps I shouldn't think so lowly of Lavenderstar. I know what it's like to make exceptions for a clanmate I care for, and especially what the guilt that comes with it feels like.
Silverstar looked up at the sky, a pained expression crossing her face. We are all experiencing so much trauma. Why are the Clans becoming so twisted? Does it have something to do with the dark future StarClan is warning us about? Does it...does it have something to do with the stone?

A feeling of cold dread came over Silverstar. Just how much have we gotten ourselves into?

But did the Clans really do anything, or was this all fate?

(( Try and be quicker about the next post Neko, we need to get to the Moonpole ;w; ))

A path to follow, a path to meet

User Image Darkstorm

Darkstorm's heart warmed as his daughter's son hopped over to him, excited for whatever reason. He chuckled in amusement as the little apprentice slipped in the mud.
His purr caught in his throat as Ebonysun kicked Blizzardpaw in the back, sending the little guy rolling. Darkstorm's fur immediately stood on end, making him look twice his size, and his blue eyes blazed with fury.
It took all of his self control not to skin Ebonysun where he stood. He quickly swooped in and grabbed Blizzardpaw by the scruff, carrying him out of the mud and onto solid land.
He was grateful to Miraclesky for her retort, and he raised his head and snarled, "If you ever touch my grandson like that again, I will have no hesitation in defending him on behalf of him. He is apprentice in training, and your actions show you are less of warrior you think you are. You harass my family out of malice. That is more against warrior code than our blood could ever be."
His eyes dared the black warrior to object. It almost looked like Darkstorm was going to attack him, but then the furious warrior slowly lowered his gaze and began roughly cleaning the mud off of his grandson. Once enough of it was gone, he stopped, sniffing Blizzardpaw gently.
"Is better, little cub?" he asked.
