She had gotten a lot of the larger things off of the beach, but there was still one thing in her way; the damn refrigerator. "Why is thing even here!?" The only hard parts left were moving the fridge and figuring out exactly why it was there. Ume would try to get it out of the sand, where it was half-buried, but that didn't work out so well. She would pull it, shove it, kick it, bite it, sit on it, take a nap on it, and everything else she could think of, but nothing would move that thing. After an entire hour of trying, the client arrived to check up on her.
"Need some help, Ume?" Ume, with tears in her eyes from being overwhelmed with happiness at the sight of him, would nod her head "yes" and the man would come over to lend a hand. With his help, they were able to get the fridge away from the sand and onto solid ground. "I'll take this load from the tarp now and call some buddies to help out with the fridge. Thanks for your hard work, Ume!

Gage ran at a normal pace. Following his nose instead of his eyes, which wasn't something he was used to. He was practically blind running through this mist, but hopefully it'll get better. The one thing that Gage did notice was now he wasn't running on grass anymore, but sand. 'That's going to slow me down even more...' He thought as he ran on. He was going to have to push himself to the limits if this kept up. Still running. Gage saw a large rock in the distance. He ran towards it then hopped onto it. 'Let's hope there's more...' He thought as he took a huge jump. He saw a rock not far to his left and threw his body weight towards it. 'Gives walking by faith a whole new meaning...' He thought as he continued his way on the beach.
Soon he came to what seemed to be the market. "Oh great... Confusing streets." He thought as he hit the road that lead into the city. One of his knees buckled and he fell to the ground. 'Yep, not in as good of shape as I used to be...' He thought as he stood back up on his feet and ran on.

Gage's theory was beginning to be challenged by the strain that his body was going through. 'It's all in the mind...' He kept telling himself, trying to ignore the pain as he pressed on over the bride. So far, he had not spilled a single drop and he was planning on keeping it that way. He ran along the bride till he could no longer hear the thudding of his feet connecting with the cement. He stopped and looked down then to his bowl and made sure everything was okay. He hadn't dropped any ramen yet and he'd made it to the beach.
'Half way there...' He thought as he walked along the beach to the edge of the shore. The wet sand would make it easier to run, because Gage wasn't taken any leaps on the way back. He could see a little better anyways, but still no time for chances. He ran along the sea shore with the tide coming back and forth, a picture that only could describe gracefulness, except for the shafts tied to Gage's left arm that messed up the entire grace of the moment. Never-the-less, he ran on until he got to the forest once more. 'Now here's where the going gets rough...' He thought to himself as he stopped for a short break. He had been gone only forty-five minutes, it would probably take him another ten or so to get back, because he'd have to run with his head down, keeping one eye on the ground and one eye in front of him. He couldn't fall or else that's it for the ramen.
So far Gage hasn't dropped a single drop. He checked the bowl once more to be sure that it was still at the line. 'Yep...' He thought as he ran on, ignoring every inch of pain in his body that told him stop. He was going to be the first to not spill a single drop of ramen, even if he had to die for it.

In all of Kirigakure, there were three places that Hatake Himura loved more than anywhere else. The first was the Hatake compound itself, primarily his weapons room and the gardens. After spending so much time caring for and maintaining both, Himura couldn't help but feel as if a part of him lived in those. The second was the Tower of the Kage, where he had become ordained as one of the mist 7 swordsman, where he had been named to the Council of Kirigakure at Luo's ascent to Mizukage, and where he had met his wife. The third was the beach, the place where the earth and the sea met to become one, at peace and at war at the same time. The effect was a constant reminder that neither peace nor war would ever be truly eradicated from the world, to stay vigilant yet hopeful at all times. Himura stopped before they got too close to the water, not even turning around to face masaki. "Hold the tonfas by the handles. The longpart should be on the outside of your arms." Himura waited a moment for masaki to hopefully follow his instructions, then, without warning, pivoted 180 degrees and swung his wooden bokken at Masaki's right side. Himura toned down his draw speed quite a lot, so as not to cause serious damage, but his was still the battojutsu of a former mist 7 swordsman. Masaki had to block, or dodge if he wanted to retain feeling in his arm for the next week.

Masaki | Academy Student | Suiton | Doton | Mokuton | |Ninjutsu Specialist | Support ninja | Combo User | | Signature Jutsu: Chakra Akyo Ki | ------------------------------ They approached the beach, which strangely enough Masaki did not frequent like most in the water country. He was used to the sure footing and comfort of forests, not the open stretch of loose sand they would be training on. His obstacles in this training would be twofold, learning to use the 'Tonfas' and getting used to fighting on loose footing. He could feel the sand shifting in the sand as he walked behind his teacher and considered how quick movement would shift the sand that much more. This was going to be fun because it was going to be tough, and the best part was he was certain it would let him keep whatever was bothering him in the back of his mind. They were still in the mostly dry sand when the man stopped and began speaking.
Listening to the instructions he grabbed the handles of both tonfa, the length of the weapon along the outside of his arm. It was unusual, this wasn't how he had seen it used before. He didn't have time to worry however, for much like Luo the man jumped straight into the thick of it, slashing with his wooden sword. He was fast, though Masaki had seen Luo move much faster. Even so they were close, and he didn't have much to do but act on reflex. He lifted his hand up to block and tried to jump back and out of range. He felt the sword hit the tonfa along his arm, and slide off it as Masaki moved away from the slash. It stung, a lot, but Masaki knew that it could have been a lot worse. Perhaps his arm would be broken even, though he wasn't sure. "Wait it's a defensive weapon?" It seemed too perfectly designed to block that attack. Masaki looked up at the man. He wasn't a defensive guy, he began to wonder if he chose the wrong weapon. He might as well have chosen a shield if he wanted to go defensive.

Himura sighed as the boy backed away from him. He had done what he had hoped he would do, block his Bokken with the tonfa, but had not bothered to follow through. "Yes and No. The tonfa is the weapon of counterattacks, its completely useless if you go on the evasive. The tonfa user must be able to use his opponent's movements to his own advantage." Himura approached masaki, moving his thumbs to the base of each tonfa's grip. "Its marginal, but keeping your thumbs on the sides of the grip will give you more blocking ability against an attack like that, as well as a surer striking power." Himura moved back into his original position, facing masaki, knees bent and hand on his bokken in a Battojutsu stance. "Rather than backing away, block with one tonfa, and attack with the other. Now, be prepared." Himura finished, but did not immediately strike. For a moment he simply held his position, eyes locked with Masaki, tension heavy in the air, the only sound coming from the surf crashing upon the sand. Himura took a step forward as he drew the sword again, a true Battojutsu strike. He continued to hold back, for the sake of keeping the weapons intact, but much less than he had previously. After unleashing the blow, he was actually a bit worried that he might make Masaki's arm go too numb, but didn't have time to dwell on it. All he cared about was whether the boy could follow through on his teachings.

Masaki | Academy Student | Suiton | Doton | Mokuton | |Ninjutsu Specialist | Support ninja | Combo User | | Signature Jutsu: Chakra Akyo Ki | ------------------------------ He didn't counterattack, the man was right. Am I half-assing this whole thing? He fixed his grip and glared at the man who was resuming his position. That wouldn't do. As Older snake guy prepared his stance again Masaki gripped his weapons, and tried to force his resolve. Attack He heard the waves slide onto the beach and back out, barely audible at this time of day. Attack He saw the man's stance shift slightly, and his arm jerked slightly in anticipation but it wasn't the attack. His Attack into my own. Finally The man grabbed his weapon and much faster than before he let the faux blade slice through the air toward's Masaki. A bloodthirsty shout escaped his lips "ATTACK!" This time Masaki launched forward towards the man, eyes focused on his target rather than it's weapon. He lifted his right arm and blocked the weapon mid slash, then held it there as his momentum carried him towards his target. Blood seemed to rush to his right arm as it started to bruise but adrenaline kept him from noticing. His left arm, squeezing the handle tightly, brought the other tonfa around towards the older snake guy's face. Still holding the weapon along his arm he wasn't sure how to use it offensively so he just made it into a downward punch with the short end positioned to deal most of the blow. He knew to stop now, hit or miss, would halve his power so keeping his legs moving he kept pushing forward and past the man, and after he got just out of sword range he turned once more to stare at the man. His blood continued pumping hard and he could hear his heartbeat like wardrums in his ears. He somehow forgot how fun it was to fight, somewhere, possibly in Konoha or possibly at the shop. The berseker was back, and he was already prepared to continue his assault, though he managed to hold himself back. He was supposed to be learning after all.

Just as the front of the tonfa was about to collide with his skull, Himura tilted his head as far left as it would go, the blunt edge barely missing his neck as Masaki continued to stumble forward. "Good, but not optimal." Himura stated as he began to lecture. "First off, the way you blocked my weapon. Your arm is probably surging with pain, isn't it?" Himura took one of the small metal tonfas off his back, sword still in hand. "You blocked my weapon very directly, going for a full block." Himura clacked his sword against the tonfa, demonstrating how the two connected, forming a "t" shape. "While thats certainly the most effective way of completely neutralizing an attack, if you take more than a few hits you won't even be able to use your arms. Instead, try to hit the attacking weapon at an angle. While this allows the opponent to keep some of their momentum, you can slide the weapon along the tonfa's edge rather than making a forced stop. This lets you deflect, or even push a weapon back while also getting closer." Himura lay the bokken across the tonfa again, this time demonstrating as the defending weapon slid along the side of the blade. "This is easy if your opponent is using a staff, but if the weapon has an actual blade, do not let the blade edge cut into the tonfa. If that happens, the blade will saw through the moment you try this, and you can say goodbye to a hand." "Now, your offense." Himura sheathed his bokken, pulling the other Tonfa from his back. "That punch contained a lot of power, and if I had not expected it, it may have connected. However, the attack should come from the long part of the tonfa." Himura threw his arm up as if he were throwing a punch, flexing his wrist inward so the long part of the Tonfa flew forward, hitting his nonexistent enemy across the entire side of his head. "This blow, while it has less raw power, is much harder to dodge or block, and keeps your arm close to your body in case you do miss." Himura placed the Tonfas onto his back again, wasting no time. "Go!" He yelled even as he swung his bokken, the wooden blade aimed at Masaki's left side, the one that hadn't taken two sword strokes.

Masaki | Academy Student | Suiton | Doton | Mokuton | |Ninjutsu Specialist | Support ninja | Combo User | | Signature Jutsu: Chakra Akyo Ki | ------------------------------ Masaki watched the man's demonstration cheerfully, because they were finally getting to the important part. how to attack. His arm was indeed pretty sore now, though hardly enough to make him want to stop, and the defense comment made sense as well. From what Masaki could tell his only shot against his long sword was to get close, really close, which meant he would have to get very good at deflecting rather than blocking. But the man was using a sword, which made his direct block even stupider. A real edge would probably ruin his weapon head on. He had to deflect, but he also needed to try and hit the broadside of the blade.
The man didn't wait this time, and attacked quickly, so Masaki had to react mostly on impulse rather than the "planned" attack before where he could think everything through. There was a bigger distance this time, so Himura had to take a step to get within range, this bought Masaki a little time to react quicker. Once again he launched himself close to his attacker, but this time he ducked, pushed up towards the cutting hand to push the blade up and over his head. At the same time his right hand, not having to block this time, swung towards the man's legs. He wasn't as close this time so when he twirled the long end forward there would be just enough distance for a clean solid hit.
As before he followed through with his attack, and pushed his way through the man's position and toward the opposite side where once again he turned, but into wetter sand which slipped from his feet. He fell to one knee and stared at the man. Beads of water now decorated his forehead, but he wasn't sure if it was sweat, the returning fog, or the splash from the waves which were slowly growing in size. He was fortunate he hadn't slipped earlier and ruined his attack.

Himura had failed to anticipate that Masaki might try aiming somewhere other than his head. So when Masaki took a swipe at his legs, the old jounin jumped back just in time for the Tonfa to graze against his calf, before bringing his sword down in an overhead strike on reflex. Thankfully, reason bypassed most of his reflex, allowing the bokken to land inches from Masaki's head, rather than on the base of his neck. "Better." Himura said, cleaning the blade of mud, pausing to let masaki get up. "But not all opponents attack from the side. For instance, some will attack from ABOVE!" As the word left his lips, himura brought the Bokken down in another one-handed downward strike, one that would split Masaki's skull were it a real sword. Himura attacked less out of desire for surprise, and more to see how Masaki could apply the principles of his training to an unfamiliar situation.

Masaki | Academy Student | Suiton | Doton | Mokuton | |Ninjutsu Specialist | Support ninja | Combo User | | Signature Jutsu: Chakra Akyo Ki | ------------------------------ Wasting no effort hiding his smile, that his attack actually hit, Masaki faced the man just to see him launch into another attack. Everytime he was moving quicker. Still on his knee from his slip, Masaki wouldn't be able to attack quite as easilly before. Quickly he pushed off the ground, standing up slightly off center from the man's attack. As he did this swung through a semi-circle, knocking the blunt end of the 'sword' and forcing it away from his body. His momement was hindered by the suddenness of the attack, but older snake guy's momentum would come to him. In anticipation of this, the berserker shoved the short end of his right tanto straight up towards the man's jaw. He had seen jaws break from similar uppercuts in bar fights, though those men were considerably stronger than he, and had no doubt this attack would hurt a lot if it connected.

Gregar828 Himura was satisfied with Masaki's counterattack, though he wasn't pleased. Masaki was now doing the exact opposite of what he had been doing before: rather than take the full brunt of the attack and guaranteeing a block, the boy took a major gamble in swinging his tonfa to his the side of his blade off course. Had Himura been aiming to hurt the boy, his skull would've been sliced down the middle long before the tonfa could connect with the blade. Himura bent his head backwards, allowing the opposing tonfa to come up short, before launching into another lecture. "Close, but not quite right. Blocking the sword by hitting like that removes all recoil damage, but its a major gamble. If you're too slow, you're dead. Let the blade his the tanto at an angle, then push to deflect. You have to find a good medium." Himura continued with his lecture, moving on to offense. "If you're so fond of punching, aim at an area that cant dodge easily. Once you've deflected my weapon, my body is open, but I can still turn my neck as easily as if I were sitting down. Taking a few steps back, Himura sheathed his Bokken. "Try to hit me." Was all he said. He made no move to reach for his Bokken or Katana, made no move to pull out his own tonfas, did not even put his hands together to begin a chain of seals. He simply stood there with his hands at his sides, waiting for Masaki's actions.

Masaki | Academy Student | Suiton | Doton | Mokuton | |Ninjutsu Specialist | Support ninja | Combo User | | Signature Jutsu: Chakra Akyo Ki | ------------------------------ ((night then. Appreciate the help. Any comments on my RP?)) He seemed to have taken a step backwards, and now he was being openly ridiculed. "Hit me" It stung that the man didn't even consider the possibility of needing his weapons. Sure, Masaki was just a genin, and a fresh one at that, but was his performance so bad this man was giving up on training? He stood silently, his expression turning from one of concentration to anger. He would just have to show the man he wasn't worthless. If he was worthless he wouldn't have survived those nights on the streets, forced his way through the academy or dealt with Luo's attempts to kill him. "No". His mouth set and he took one step back in preperation. "I won't let you stop now. You can't give up yet!" His face burned with anger, part of his mind wondered if it was turning red. He held the strength of stone, the stubbornness of the water, and the lifeblood of the woods. This man had a bunch of sticks. He was fast, but Masaki was getting used to speed.
He slid his Tonfa into his belt for a moment and then flashed a half-set of seals before he took off towards Older Snake Guy. There was a larger distance which gave him the time he needed to "unsheath" his tonfa and ready them for attack. As he stepped he channeled his chakra down and through his legs, into the sand and finally the hard soil underneath it. He forgot about the sand, but solid ground wasn't far past it so his attacks weren't entirely useless. As he stepped within the man's sword range a block of wood burst from the ground under his foot giving his momentum a strong burst straight towards the target. It only reached about one and a half feet past the sand, but a small boost could be just what he needed to get a strike in. His right arm swung widewith the long end of the tonfa directed towards the man's face while he held the left close to his chest, which after the tonfa was supposed to strike also shot forward striking towards the abdomen. He just had to hit something this time.

Himura would've been surprised at the boy's sheathing of his tonfas, if he hadn't learned to expect the unexpected from this kid. Ninjutsu to lead. Himura thought. Does this kid not like the tonfa's anymore? The old Jounin's face turned from a look of bored curiosity to surprised incredulosity as a block of wood - Wood! - thrust out from under the earth under Masaki's foot, who now held the tonfas long end outward. Has this kid been listening to anything I've said? And when did we find another user of mokuton? I'm gonna rip those damn record-keepers apart... As these thoughts went through his head, Himura ducked under Masaki's initial blow aimed at his head, his left open palm hitting the underside of Masaki's chin, driving his head backward. No longer holding anything back, Himura moved at the pace of any S rank, near untraceable to human eyes, let alone someone fighting like a berserker, they way masaki seemed to be doing. For all the things his age had robbed him of, his Hatake genes ensured that his speed remained at it's S rank prime. As Himura drew his hand back, his right leg aimed at kick at Masaki's side, his left hand touching the sand to stabilize himself. Provided he wasn't desensitized by the chin blow, Masaki could potentially block partof theKick's power with his left tonfa with, to himura's approval, he kept in defensive stance.

Masaki | Academy Student | Suiton | Doton | Mokuton | |Ninjutsu Specialist | Support ninja | Combo User | | Signature Jutsu: Chakra Akyo Ki | ------------------------------ Yeah this is going to hurt Masaki thought as he saw the man's movements blur. He had gone beyond what he could follow which meant beyond what he could react to which meant... His head ripped backwards stopping his assault mid-flight and turning his momentum upwards, his right tonfa dropped out of his hand as he lost his grip, though he was able to keep hold of the left. He pulled his arms up in an attempt to protect his chest from a follow up attack and felt something hit his tonfa. He wasn't quite quick or strong enough to block the kick entirely however and could feel the kick hit his lower rib cage knocking him off to the side.
When he landed he checked his injuries from the reckless attack and ruthless response. He had to spit out a broken tooth. which all things considered could have been a lot worse. His arm now held a bruise to match his right, and his ribs were screaming in pain. Even so much as a chip would be painful however, and when he tested his ribs the seemed intact as far as he could tell. He stood to his feet and readied his tonfa. "Now what, are you taking me seriously?" his voice was straining a little over the pain, but there was no way he was going to back down if he wasn't seriously injured. Especially when he saw such a glimpse of the strength he could gain from this man. He bowed his head slightly in respect. This man reminded him of Luo, and had earned a certain level or respect by punishing him so harshly.
((I'm going to say it didn't do much more than a little bruising since he caught the attack with his block at least a little, I hear any rib injury hurts a lot so that's where that's coming from.))
