"Oh hey wha-" Olivia grumbled, wiping the drool off her face with a disgusted look. After trying everything besides chucking her Zippo across the room to SAY she levitated it all on her lonesome, fatigue caught up with her. She woke to Kat telling her something about going outside.

Crawling, she retrieved her lighter and shakily stood up, the room spinning a little as she ventured out into the main room, "OK yeah sorry, I heard outside."

Adam, being too enthralled with the Batman marathon on TV, he overheard the last part of the discussion.

Scrambling to his feet and ignoring the slight cramp in his legs, he stumbled, forgetting to put his hands out in front of him to feel for the doorway, nearly doing a header into the frame.

"Ahh, ow, h-hey guys, w-what's going on? C-can I come?"

"You get a chance for sleep in all of that? I mean hell, no point in a roof over your head if you don't get to enjoy the shelter now and then." Kat smiled, "I was never one to hold a job for very long, myself. Though to be fair, a slider on the run doesn't get many points for stability."

"Being a bouncer is only a side job and I don't have to be there that often. he laughed a bit. Whats a slider?"

Kat raised an eyebrow as Adam ran head first into the door frame. "You all right there, kiddo?"

She turned back to Omar and shrugged, "That's fairly convenient. As for a Slider, that'd be short for Backslider, which is a term given to a person who has left the Keeper organization, or evades capture. I'm one of the ones who left. You'd probably be termed a Slider just for running."

"Well I thank you for helping me out, I owe you a lot chica."Omar leaned in to give Kat a hug. "You could have just left me but you didn't." Omar felt at ease when he was around Kat. Omar was definitely showing his more gentile side then he usually does. The only person he was gentile with was his sister and his mother, never the men out of the family.

Adam tenderly rubbed his forehead, feeling around for Zipper's harness and allowing the dog to drag him toward Kat, "Y-yeah, yeah, I think so."

A sigh escaped him, brushing his forearm across his eyelids, attempting to keep the headache and his stuttering at bay, "W-what's going on? Is Rook here?"

Olivia eyed the dog as he sat in front of Kat, tail wagging; she was not very fond of canines. One hand tapped her cigarette case in her pocket, debating whether or not she REALLY needed her last smoke right this moment.

"Well, my peeps, I'm pretty sure I heard an order for me to go outside..." she stated plainly, sauntering over to the exit. Olivia let her mind wander while she walked, finding herself in the parking lot, calling over to the group once she spotted them, "Hey there Mr Matrix, I'm here."

"At the risk of sounding overly prideful and heroic-obsessed...it's what we do, Omar. No need to thank."

Kat smiled at Zipper, giving the dog's ear a quick scratch. "At the moment I believe Rook is outside with a few others. He's going to scrounge about for some other metas. You should probably stick here, Adam. It's safer, and eventually Jarred will be showing up with food-stuffs."

Kat glanced back at Omar, "Short introductions, Adam, Omar, Omar, Adam. Blind kid who was sorta-kinda-kidnapped, and storm-guy who was disrupting traffic." Kat leaned back, "Roxanna's still in the bathroom I'm assuming, she's a water-witch of sorts. And the people you met back in the car, Omar, was Rook the shapeshifter, Maya the crazy person who talks to inanimate objects, Jeffery the grumpy-a** and otherwise boring high school football coach, and the cute guy driving by us in the Porche was Jarred the non-spoiled rich boy. He also happens to be a null, but a minor one." Kat grinned, "I'll introduce you to others as they come."

Omar blinked for a second as Kat had named the whole team of members. "Wow, quite the group we have here. I must be the newest member to join then. Cool" Omar got u and stretched his body and sat back down.

The old man picked up a menu that was sitting on the table and slid it towards Tyson. He then tapped his finger three times over the picture on the front. The dragon. "The Keepers are those who have sought for many many years to keep people safe and certain abilities in check. At one time I considered them guardian, friend even, but things have changed. They now smother what they would protect. You have gifts, yes, as do I. As did the man who wrote the letter. The keepers wish to keep all gifts and destroy those that cannot be kept."

The man moved his hand to the letter on the table, tapping it like he did the menu. "Our friend was spy for us among the keepers. This letter tells of what they will do to the island. The blues are a group who are strong with the mind, many psychics. A spies worst enemy. As for the Oak, she is an old cranky woman who gives soup and shelter to those who find her door. She dwells on the mainland, however, where it is safer."

The boy nodded that he understood. Actually, he was catching on very quickly, though his personal interpretation was skewed by his fantasy flaunting mind, he deduced the Keepers were like a good army gone overboard. Anyone with powers and who wasn't a keeper was a threat. And considering psychic were grouped as blues, different powers were grouped by colors. The Oak was like a nanny who took care of, greeted, or did something along those who made it off St. Eva.

That being the case, in his mind, it would have been a matter of time before the keepers would have caught on to him. It wasn't as if he was all that discreet about using his powers. Well, he was, but when he did use them, it wouldn't have been easy to spot if you knew what to look for. "I-" he tried speak but his voice completely died out. Taking a pepper shaker sitting by his hand, he dumped half the contents on his near empty bowl and used his powers to carefully spell out "I UNDERSTAND." Then he wrote, "IF I KEPT DOING WHAT I WAS BEFORE" but soon ran out of space. Tyson then rearranged the the pepper to say, "ID HAVE BEEN CAUGHT BY THEM."

The old man let out a sneeze, saying a muffled apology. "Caught, yes. Then arranged into your slot, trained, and tested. If you pass your testings, yes, you would be accepted into their ranks. They are functional that way. It keeps the world quiet and safe, but at what price? And when will the price become too much to pay?" He let out a gravely chuckle. "It is topic of deep thought. You are safe here, for now. Though if what the letter says is true, perhaps for not long."

"It seems our dead friend has come across 'the price too large to pay' and added to it the cost of his life. This changes things. The water is being stirred, yes. Perhaps we can no longer sit by in the calm."

"One of the newer ones, yeah. You haven't met Sam and Daryl yet, but they should be showing up eventually." Kat watched him stretch and sit down, tilting her head. "It's still a small group compared to the organization, though. But in any case, probably the largest patch of sliders for a good fifty years."

His stomach growled as if on cue, Zipper enjoying some attention.

"A-alright..." he bit his lower lip and hung his head a little, "I-is t-t-there andything I c-c-can help with?"

Tyson nodded and sat back into the seat, though he was not sure about what he was actually nodding about. He understood what the man was saying, and he agreed that if they had found him, he'd have ended up joining them. However, in the long run, he didn't think he'd be able to stay long, not if that meant he would force others into their ranks.

Still, there was one final question floating around in his mind. Now what?

Tyson reached for his plate but found it empty. He had eaten everything the restaurant had offered him. His face turned a shade darker as he realized he had gotten a delicious meal, the largest he'd had since last year, and had no money to pay for it. He sank a little in his seat, almost forgetting about the intense subject he had been dwelling on only moments before and let out a long sigh.

"Now what?" He whispered.

Omar was growing very bored so he decided to grab the remote from off the table and turn on the news. "There we go." He said as he came to the channel he was looking for. "Hm, someone got shot in the south district, robbed, and killed. Nothing new."

"That may just be a cover up for a few of the bodies we left behind." Jarred stepped in, a few grocery bags on each arm. "News might not be a bad idea though, see if they're connected enough to put out a manhunt for us."

At about that time....

"The police have also issued an amber alert for this youth, a one Samuel Sohmer, age 17, who disappeared from his home the other night, after an attempted burglary where his mother was injured." A picture of Sam with his hat appeared on the upper corner of the screen. "Any information about him should be sent to..." The news caster continued with the report.

The old man chuckled, "Yes, now what? That, boy, is up to you. We have need for a good dish-boy, but I am not so foolish to think I can grasp the wind and it won't fly free from my fingers."
