((I never really had Shane put the cube anywhere, it was still in his pocket O_o))
Shane heard the doctor's comment, and stopped rubbing his chin. "Er, the blow that was delivered to my face when I reprimanded the captain of the guard for being drunk all the time." he stated matter-of-factly. "It was before this year's festival." he added to avoid confusion. At that moment, his leg started to feel extremely hot. "Dastrinath!!" he swore as he started to see sparks firing out of his pants pocket. Once the flames erupted, he knew he had to dispose of the thing quickly. He wrenched off his pants, and flung them out the open window. Now pantsless, though still with his shin-length undergarment on, he leaped back over his bar and pulled out a four foot broadsword that he kept in a secret compartment for Mercenaries' Guild work. "I've kept the secret, but desperate times call for desperate measures." he reasoned with himself, rummaging around in a different cabinet where he kept his spare clothing. He pulled on another pair of pants and jumped back over the bar, taking up a fighting stance. "Whatever that is, it can't bode well." Shane told the doctor and the investigator. "Get yourselves out of here. I'll defend the bar. I have a feeling that this is demon work." he said, motioning at the door with his head, but keeping his stance.

((Ah, my mistake. Well, let's just assume the cube in Shane's pants is less explosive than the others... haha.))
The Sea Guard captain sighed. It didn't make sense. The navy was full of tension. The watch tower had coined the enemies as not seeming human. It didn't make sense. No, there had to be another explanation. Time to improvise.
“Men, hear me loud and clear. It’s not Zion, and even if it is, we’re not letting them take Chronopolis!” Kevin shouted. The men in the navy were superstitious, and that superstition could effect them in battle. He had to disperse it. He mentioned Zion because that was what most superstition involved.
Well, if it's just the sea. We'll be fine. The others are probably getting the rest ready. And besides, why would Zion or anyone randomly attack Chronopolis now? Shouldn't everyone be worrying about themselves?

Shizuru nodded slowly as she listened to Shane. He sounded proud of getting hit. When he exclaimed something random that she didn't understand, she looked up at him to see sparks coming out of his pants. Before she could say anything, he had flung his pants out the open window. Put on some pants! Her mind yelled as she immediately looked away.
When the bar tender spoke again, she turned back and saw that he had pants on again. Well, that was fast. To her surprise, he had a massive sword with him. "What?" But his next remark set her off. "PAH! Demons? What a myth!" She refused to leave. Seriously, the bartender flung the fire out the window. She wasn't going to follow that, even if it was raining.

Taint Imp Of Corruption Adding fuel to the fires. As chaos erupted through the city, a small figure skillfully weaved, flew and skimmed through the roofs and buildings of the market area, setting small fires in some thatches and cutting down washing lines as she went. Her target teemed to be the newly re-opened salon, or more accurately, the owner of said salon. As she reached closer to her destination she stopped setting the petty fires, after all if the salon caught alight she would be in BIG trouble. Why is it always me that gets paired with this violent piece of s**t... Every time something doesn't quite work out, I'm the one that gets the beating. Oh wait, that's 'cause I asked to be chosen, and it usually IS my fault AHAHAHAHAHA!!! She thought landing on the back upstairs window out of view. The tiny being grappled a small axe and used it to pry the window open enough to slide inside the room, it wasn't quite big enough though, and her smoke like wings caught on the old wooden frame before dispersing into nothing, much like the fumes from the end of a tobacco pipe. Isabelle The Barbers Daughter Oh fr the love of hell SHUT UP!! Looking out the front window she could see the smoke rising from various locations around Chronopolis, though her immediate area was rather calm... Other than the people running all over the place like confused ants. She felt rather bored though, there had still been no word back from Zion regarding her mission, and all the investigating she had carried out was mostly useless anyway as she still didn't really know what to look for. Then, as if her thought were being read, she felt the room change, the aura grow that tiny bit more menacing... Isabelle spun round in her chair, and there she was, Taint... " Long time no see Isabelle... Have you been keeping well my sweet?... I have news for you. Zion is growing impatient, it seems the time is drawing near." Said Taint, Taint was a tiny imp, although not 'ugly' she was rather twisted looking with the mask, large talon like fingernails and the smokey aura leaking from holes on her back and face. " Finally! You know, I'd never thought I would actually see the day when I was glad to see you you little b***h!" " Thankyou~." " But you have no idea the cravings I have had to mutilate these disgusting bags of greed and indulgence. So, what are my orders..." Said Isabelle with a cruel looking grimace of a smile, she didn't even notice the interruption from Taint, which usually would have resulted in a slap, due to being overly happy about finally getting to do something indecent. " Whats wrong with greed and indulgence... Anyway these are your orders... Before you can truly move freely around this city, there is a person you must rid this world of, an investigator. He has been investigating some murders that have been occurring around the area known as 'Redite' where it seems a succubus has taken up residence. The succubus is of no problem, in fact she may even be an advantage if she takes this as a favour. Anyway~, that's about all I've to tell you, OH! One more thing, I'll be hanging around here until every thing's finished. So I'm moving into your house." She said with a weirdly light and refreshing tone of a young girl. Isabelle just seemed to take it all in, and the last part about staying resulted in a swift backhand of Taint into the far wall. " I don't like your tone... And at least ask if you can stay, I would say yes, after all I do need you to keep in touch with Zion." Said Isabelle with a sigh, Taint was annoying, but useful so it looked like she would just have to put up with the gibbering. Meanwhile, Taint just lay dazed on the floor behind a bed. Letting another sigh Isabelle turned back to her desk. " Well, It's not as if we can do much till sun down... One, you're too obvious in daylight, and two, I need shadows to reach my top performance. So just shut up and stay here till I get back, I have other things to do today than baby sit you." Isabelle moaned as she headed down the stairs and into the street. She raced off towards the town town square only to find herself blocked by toxic smoke flowing from the Apothecary store, stopping she stepped back a little and watched the various plumes change colours with each crack and pop from inside. Back inside the salon Taint let out a little groan and righted herself before setting own for the day in Isabelle's bed. Day time wasn't her time after all.

Haucon stepped out into the rain with Aidan and took stock of the situation as quickly as possible. The flames were at least partially subdued by the rain, but it wasn't likely that they would be extinguished, let alone in a timely manner. Shrava also had made it out of the building and Haucon looked to him for help. A horse trough was down the street just a ways and a small bucket sat beside it. "We can at least try this..." he said as he ran toward the trough and dipped the bucket into it.
As he ran down the street with the full bucket, he realized that the flames on Aidan's shop were not an isolated occurrence. Other buildings nearby were on fire, and it seemed to be spreading despite the rain. It was then that it dawned on him. The Stables... He threw the bucketful of water on Aidan's apothecary and handed the bucket to Shrava. Finding Aidan he pulled her aside and looked sharply into her face. "Look, I have to go, I have to check on the stables, I'll be back as soon as I can to help though, I hope you understand." he said, words rushing as fast as his thoughts. He reached up and almost tenderly rubbed a smudge of ash of Aidan's face with his thumb before disappearing down the street at a run, his heart thudding heavily in his chest.
((just to clarify a couple of things: a) Was a cube placed at the stables? b) what kind of fire is this? Should we be able to extinguish it at all or is the intent that it will burn the buildings down?
EDIT: Thanks Scythe!))

((a) Nope. No cube at the stables. b) It's a normal fire. Unless it spreads too quickly, you should be able to extinguish it. Make sure you don't let any sparks escape.))

Aidan Vale The Apothecary
As they exited the shop, the elf rushed quickly down the front steps with Haucon and Shravra. As they proceeded further into the street, Aidan was slightly shocked by the rain. She had not noticed the weather in all the commotion on the interior of her shop, and only really began to pay attention as she clothing slowly began to collect water. Turning back toward her shop, she watched the flames with a stony expression, trying to think of an executable plan of action. When Haucon threw the bucket of water on the flames, she looked around, suddenly remembering herself. Looking in time to feel herself being pulled away, she returned Haucon's steady gaze, and gave a shaky nod accompanied by the quiet words, "Of course. Take all the time..." her statement trailed off as he touched her face, and as he moved away from her, Aidan brought her light finger tips up to the spot on her cheek where his hand had just been. After blinking stupidly after him for a few short seconds, Aidan turned back to the fire that was eating away at her shop. Tossing her burdens onto the ground a safe distance away, Aidan stepped closer to the burning building and was appreciative of Shravra's attempts [[GMing! xO]] with the bucket. Wishing she had practiced more of her fire-nature magic, Aidan held out her hands, palms up, and began using them as a path for the falling rain around her. Focusing on the areas which seemed to be burning the fastest, Aidan hoped she could remember the most efficient technique for the situation, vividly aware of the fact that she had not practiced such things since before she came to the city. After a few short seconds the rain immediately around the elf seemed to be attracted to her tiny hands and began to slide across them, forming sluggishly into a stream of about the same consistency as the buckets of water being tossed onto the growing flames. The stream thinned and thickened in proportion to the amount of rain that fell on, or close to Aidan's hands, but was still strong. She bent her fingers minutely this or that way to direct the stream, and the flames gradually appeared to be losing intensity. For the moment. The longer she stood there, the more Aidan began to notice a dull pounding that was beginning to surface just behind her left eye, and cursed at her lack of practice.
OOC neutral | I've never really played around with elemental magic, so I hope I provided enough holes in the situation for her technique to not be infallible. If not, I'd be happy to switch things around a bit. ||

Haucon ran at almost full tilt to the Stables. From a distance he was relieved to see that at least outwardly no smoke was rising from the buildings. As he approached his fears were almost alleviated. Nonetheless he ran inside and looked up and down the aisles of stalls. It wasn't unreasonably warm inside but the horses were nickering nervously as they could smell the smoke from the other buildings. He took the moment to pat a few on the nose reassuringly as he sighed in relief. He could think of almost nothing worse than a burning building full of panicking horses all jostling and flailing.
Feeling less panicky himself, he gathered as many spare buckets as he could find and headed out the door at a fast clip back toward Aidan's shop.

The High Guards were guarding the north entrance of the inner walls. It had not been breached yet. Allen sighed. The only country which had a sorry excuse to attack was Eurosia. He didn’t understand why it bothered to waste time on a small city.
And how did the enemy get past the outer walls anyway? The enemy had somehow breached the outerwalls without the captains being informed. I don't understand. It wasn't like Chronopolitans to let a whole army through.
Perhaps, the festivities of the days before had made the city lax in security. Some of the areas outside the inner walls were on fire. Unfortunately, Allen wasn't sure if they could help those that dwelled out there until they beat back the enemy. "Fine time for you to leave, Lord Thomas," the High Guard captain sighed.
Meanwhile, the infantry, archery, and calvary units had taken station at the East and South Gates. No one knew where Tia was, but Allen had sent a messenger to tell her to put up a shield and support the healing long range to reach the people they couldn't get to.

SHRAVRA the metalsmith So spicy...
xxxIt was beginning to work. The fire had stopped spreading any further back and was being doused with enough water to drown a fish. The fire's gone down enough now. I could probably do that now.”Aiden. I think I can take it from here, maybe. Fire's my specialty.” Throwing the last bucket of water over himself, Shravra ran into the building towards the main part of the flames.Feel the heat, be the heat, move the heat. Focus and feel. More in practice than Aiden thanks to his work, the flames peeled from the walls and ceiling into a single ball in front of him. When most of the flames had been peeled from the building he forced his fist into the ball of fire and pulled a thick strand of it towards his mouth. The rest of the fire spiraled after the strand.
xxxFire eating. Dragon skills passed down from his teacher of the art of metallurgy and blade making. He inhaled the fire much like water down a drain. His normally green eyes were slowly shot through with flecks of red and black giving them the appearance of the fire he had just eaten which would remain for at least a weak untill he had replenished his reserves. Now he had a few minutes before he had to bring it back up. ”Aiden. I'll leave the rest to you and Haucon whenever he gets back. I need to get away from buildings for a bit unless we want this all over again.” Deciding on the harbour, he sped down streets and round corners until he reached the waters edge. Aiming straight at the water the flames came back up his throat in a powerful jet and hit it with an almighty plume of steam. Twenty seconds later the jet finished up and Shravra fell into the water, drinking it to try and cool his mouth, throat and insides. Haven't done that in a while and I don't plan on doing it again any time soon. The steam spread out over the harbour area making it hard to see more than a few feet in front.

Running back to Aidan's shop, Haucon had to pull up short to avoid running headlong into Shrava who was on his way out. "What the...?" he had time to say before the elf disappeared. The building was still on fire, but it definitely seemed more manageable now. Aidan seemed in deep concentration and Haucon noticed that the rain seemed to be more concentrated around her and was actually being directed toward the building. Not wanting to disturb her, he set a bucket at her feet just in case and ran to fill his own.
He made several trips, working in silence as quickly as possible dousing the building with bucketful after bucketful, glad to see that it was a winning battle they seemed to be fighting.

Despite Kevin's attempt at lightening the mood, the Sea Guard captain could tell that superstition still hung on the men's minds.
"Hold your ground," Kevin ordered the Navy. They were going to play the defensive game, though it was a bit hard if they got hit by multiple cannons. Kevin didn't like the waiting game, but it was going to have to do. He had just heard news of the other areas of Chronopolis being attacked.
And to make it worse, in addition to the already annoying rain and dark skies, suddenly, some sort of steam mist had arisen in the area making it harder to see.
"Capt, we can't see the enemy ships in this fog."
"Good. That might mean that the enemy can't see us." Unless the enemy had casted the spell. Kevin sighed. "Send two teams of scouts underwater. There shouldn't be any fog down there. We'll scout the enemy from there."
Kevin himself preferred to go underwater, but he couldn't afford to go down there now. He needed to direct his men, and he didn't want to disappoint the Lord of Chronopolis.
The Captain frowned as he heard strange noises in the air, strange calling noises that were audible over the piter pattering of the rain. The enemy sure had a handful of intimidation tactics this time.
...Some moments later, while the horrendous fog was still in the air, Kevin heard one of the scouts clamor aboard quickly. "Capt, the enemy has breached the line. Some of them are underwater. We need help."
They didn't have a moment to spare. Kevin immediately ordered more troops below the water. Master will kill me if we let them through...
But, unknown to Kevin, some of the enemy was already heading toward the harbor toward... Shrava, and with the way they appeared, they certainly appeared to be dangerous demons.

Meanwhile, somewhere else...
"Damn a**holes! Let's get them down now and show them who we are!" a voice roared. The owner of the voice was perfectly sober, but this was not the first of the profanities he had uttered in battle today.
((Guess who that was....))
-----------------------
While no demons explicitly sprang up to attack anyone from the fires, some people might have noticed something very strange or dismissed what they saw as a figment of their imagination.
In clear view from the windows of Shane's bar, where Shane, the investigator, and Shizuru were, there was a skeleton ambling its way outward toward the edges of town. It was a using a spear as some sort of walking stick and donned a pot lid as a shield?
A second skeleton was slowly making its way through the area Aidan's apothecary was and would eventually pass Isabella. It was also heading out of a town with a knife clutched by its phalanges/finger bones.

((Giyari, is the 'investigator' you are referring to my character Lyris?))
Shane swore once more at the naivete of the doctor. "Look there. Is that not the work of demons?" he said as he pointed at the skeleton with the spear walking around outside. "Dammit!" he said as he charged out the window, rushing the skeleton. "Whatever this is, it can't be allowed to live..." he thought as he brought his sword heavily down upon the skeleton.
Lyris had since sobered up and found himself near the apothecary, just in time to see three figures coming out of the building, which was ablaze with odd colors. He glanced around and saw another girl walking up, though she didn't seem like the type to tangle with. Instead, he jogged up to the group to find one of them ran off, probably to find more buckets for the one who was splashing water on the shop. He stood back in amazement as the female elf started working the rain to form a stream that seemed to douse out the fire even more, though what the other man did was even more amazing. He reached out and took out a piece of the fire and swallowed it. Lyris raised an eyebrow in inquisition as he too ran off, leaving the elf-girl behind. As the man came back and forth with bucketfuls of water, Lyris decided he didn't like standing around and confronted the man. "Hey, lend me one of those buckets?" he asked politely and bluntly at the same time as he pulled his gloves on a little tighter.
((And that was the Guard Captain, Scythe biggrin ))
