Has anyone ever had their labor enduced?
I was induced with Lissa.
I don't know if the contractions were worse or not...because it was my first.
ALSO I was trapped in the bed because of the policy of my hospital (even if I DIDN'T get induced and was perfectly fine they would have kept me in the bed, it was their policy for ALL women).
I did end up getting an epidural BUT I could barely roll over let alone move around to get any pain management. BUT the epidural ended up uneven (it actually happens frequently where the medicine can go down one side or the other of the body if the little tube is placed JUUUUUUST a little to the left or right) So I felt the contractions in the right half of my body and it was painful but like I said I don't know if it was MORE painful. I was able to handle them, breathe through them, shut my eyes and grit my teeth and all that.
They're going to need to monitor you more often if you are being induced so if you ARE let out of the bed you'll have to get in and sit down and be monitored. You'll need an IV put in. Which can either be good or bad, considering if you need fluids (which they generally give you if you decide on the epidural), or if you decide to take other meds (stadol, nubain) or need/want something for nausea they can just stick it right in the IV and you're good.
My labor was also VERY VERY long. 36 hours total. Two hours of pushing. It was long NOT just because of the pitocin (see being trapped in the bed, first pregnancy, etc.) but that certainly didn't help. Because my body wasn't having natural contractions so they had to up it slowly and steadily to get my body in the mood.
