-The fear rippled off the soldiers in waves as the imposed death sentence was carried out. Those selected by the Commander were detained, some by force and led out onto the field of battle where the Shadow Wyrm waited, its glittering eyes flicking from side to side as its hunger grew.
Rearing its head back as the prisoners approached, its great maw splits open and a deafening roar pierces the air, causing the very ground to shake.. small stones falling from overhead as they are rattled loose from their houses. When the soldiers were near enough, its long neck propelled its massive head down and forward, snapping its jaws open as it tore into the rank and file. Alas, those poor soldiers who were conscripted to escort the prisoners were quickly devoured as well, their blood splattered the ground along side that of their former compatriots. Its hunger appeased for the moment, the serpent turns its gaze towards Val'atar and in a voice like thunder and broken steel being ground together.. it speaks in the language of its kind- "Know this Tanar'ri prince of the Shadowed.. your favors run thin. Long you have kept my chain in your hands, but even your time runs short. One day I will break free and then it will be your soul chained to mine and not the reverse. Do not call me again dark one unless it is with your own blood you intend to pay."
-With that, the massive serpent begins to coil in upon itself, vanishing once more into a shadowy stream of darkness that flows towards the now out stretched hand of Patron Druu'giir. As the ribbon of ebony mist vanishes into his flesh, the Lord of Au Shinduago seems to sag for a moment before straightening himself, his voice clear and soft as always.. easily heard by all- "It is done..
..Shadowed, accompany the prisoners to the holding area.
Leaders of the houses.. I will call you to council shortly. Be ready for the summons as it will be when we decide the final fate of House Derahel."
-Ruby eyes dart to the enemy commander, as a thin smile finds Val'atar's lips- "Chalthara.. you will accompany me to House Derahel. You will be under my protection while I question the Matron regarding this event." -turning briefly to Erelala, he steps closer to her and whispers softly into her ear before turning back to the others. His clawed hand snakes forth to grab Chalthara's arm and without a sound, they both seem to vanish into the pooled darkness below their feet-

oh, the rush Valthier felt, being closer to this execuution than he ever was before to any he had not administered hiself. and by DRAGON! he was so happy for this event that it didn't bother him as much as it normally would have that he had to go home only to come back to Council shortly. with a huff of his stuck breath he stretched and strode around, wondering with exxagerated imaginings what val'atar had said to the girl. thoughts of betrayal or intrigue crisscrossed his mind, and enetertained him as he re-enetered the city. he was so happy. perhaps he could speak with kal'daka now, noticing that she too was amazed by the sight of the wyrm.
"General Kal'Daka, if i may," he called after her, "now that we have a little time i'd like to speak to you about your cousin. He had rescued me recently you see, and I had hoped to repay him. I had a bag of chocolate-dipped dry fruits i thought were generous payment for a life saved. would you help me arrange a chance to delive them to him?" his eyes twinkled, and his excited grin still had not left his face. he knew he had to be carefull how he presented himself, his gaze had to be just right... to intense he would seem suspicious, but so would he if he hid the anticipation of his face. and his normally stoic features were turned off right now. he only hoped he could pass it off as blood-rush. he waited for her answer.

Chalthara watched, face in as impassive and expression as she could maintain, while th dragon devoured the men that had been promised to it. She had seen other sacrifices in her time, cruel sacrifices to Lolth, but this was so unusual that she found herself trembling. The dragon frightened her -- especially since she knew not what it said in its own language.
When Val'atar mentioned the judgement that would come upon House Derahel, a question hit her mind like a bolt from a hidden crossbow. Would that be the judgement of her fate as well? She felt she had Kal'Daka and perhaps Llmryn on her side, since they had expressed pity for her situation...and even if she did not enjoy being the object of sympathy, she made a mental note that it could be useful later.
As she and Lord Druu'giir faded into the shadows, she wondered what would become of Matron Eclavice...but more importantly, she wondered what would become of Chalthara Kenrahel.

((this is gonna suck since my brain is slowly turning to jelly from cramming for finals, but I figured I need to post @_@))
She didn't much care to watch the sacrifices. Unlike the others present, the only time the blood lust tickled her fancy was when it was she that was spilling it. She just kept looking around at everyone, gauging their reactions. She of course couldn't speak draconic, but she could recognize the 'I ******** hate you' in the beast's tone. Chalk that on the rapidly growing list of 's**t I need to get straight with my allies.' With an eye roll at Val'atar's slump, (as that was what, the second or third time now?) she held an arm out ever so slightly to catch him if he fell, but he didn't... unfortunately or thankfully she wasn't sure. She was getting this nagging desire to see him just fall on his high and mighty a** or something. He found the stirrups again on his high horse and yanked the opposing... she didn't even want to call her commander... off, which earned another eye roll as she turned her attention to Valthier.
"Oh you wanna talk ta me 'bout Ragnarok now do ya." Her lavender eyes narrowed as a wolfish grin split her face. "I take it he acquainted ya with how... protective... I am'a him. Yer horrible't hidin' yer intentions." She glared a minute in hopes of getting a corpse to piss himself in fear. She figured it wouldn't be that hard. He had all the spine of a maggot. "Hurt m'cuz in any way, 'n ye'll find yerself tied ta the top'a a prayer spire in th' middle'a Calimport. Hottest 'n' brightest sun outta any place on th'surface I've ever traveled."
She was just gonna wait to see his face to tell him that she was willing to use her cousin as a catalyst in an alliance between herself and Qu'ellar Edonil'barra. She had no friends within the church and within the fanatics, and judging by the way things had been going with the council before Seth bit it, she needed one. She was pretty sure she could n** Val'atar in the heels enough to get him to comply enough of the time. Now just to get the rest of the damn city to listen to the b*****d.

Amid the rushing wings and tiny feet, a scream broke through. It was quickly joined by other shrieking voices. Maovu's deadliest toys were not made of cloth or stuffing and they were ready to give chase. The storm of smaller toys hid the monsters from view. Only their painful cries could be heard. Maovu huddled in a corner.

Val took a slight step back and his arm raised a little instinctively to protect him. his face showed a definate caught gasp in his throat. "i am not trying to make a plaything of your cousin Kal'daka, I promise you that my gratitude is sincere. I reward those who do me a good turn, as he did. however cute the boy is he is safe. i swear not to molest a single hair on his squishy little head." he then took a calmer pose, arms crossed lazily over his padded chest and heeled boot tapping absentmindedly, his gaze a lzay one with drooping soft eyelids. "will you please allow me to give him his reward?" honestly, Haruk wasn't kidding aout how sharp his cousin was. he understood her as an intelligent strategist, not so much a tactfull negotiator. he was caught off guard and frightened. he knew he blew his cover, too late to pretend otherwise, but he still tried to keep up the facade of not being nervous.

Xune was bored at home and decided to take a walk around in teh city. stretching her wings instead of her legs would be fun, she thought. she was just window shopping realy, not expecting to care enough to buy anything, when she saw a strange doll shoppe. the dolls themselves looked so soft, and so interestingly grotesque in an adorable cute twisted little way, she simply could NOT hide her interest. she allowed her short silver hair grow into curly little pig-tails her skirt poof out a little more and become frilly. she sprouted tinie-tinie horns and a kittie-tail,, and walked in exploring the shelves with childish girlish curiosity. she poked at the dolls, felt their fleshy skin, their life-like hair... these dolls must have been made from real live creatures, how artistic! she mentally aplauded the skill and craftmanship of whoever created suchadorabley sick effigies. she spotted a halfling girl, oh how cute she thought! she even clapped lighted and bounced on her toes before picking it up and, hugging it tightly though it was barely shorter than herself, carried it to the counter. she looked around for a bell or something. seeing none, she spoke in her soft, quiet high-pitched voice, "hello?.... is anybody working here? i want this!" she pouted.

As Zarud lifted his head from the display he noticed that the top of his robes had fallen open, so after fassening the ties he continued on his route through the city.

((Kal's goin' home. Not to town.))
"Ya wanna know how many now dead men promised the same damn thing?" She rested her hands lightly on her sabers, though not in a threatening manner. Just habit. "I know yer lookin' fer more from him. I kin read'im better'n anyone else-" and he could do the same for her, of course "'N he's got that puppy-love spring'n'is step. I sound stupid's all get-out, I know, but I aint." Oh she had him. She had him snared so good. She was pretty confident that if his urinary tract was still operational, it'd be running right now. That was all she wanted, too. "But of course ya kin give'm yer present. I'll even let ya pursue'im on one condition. Ally yerself formally with the Shadow Guard. Pretty good business decision'n yer part, considerin' I'm prolly on the best terms with Lord Val'atar in the whole city."
And then through Valthier, she would have a b***h friend within the church. She knew the nervous wreck would buckle under her expert hand pretty quick, and she was pretty sure he was the commanding clergy now that Seth kicked it. The proper chains were finally locked to get some damn forced order in this s**t hole.

well, goes to show... that Haruk couldn't keep his own secret. with a sigh, valthier's face showed his good mood disapar. until the Mercenary General made her proposition. he grinned like a schoolgirl! "Why of course Kal'Daka, I would be honoured to ally myself with your band of swords-for-hire!" he was being honest, in all his flamboyancy. he'd known since they got in town that they would be a valuable ally. he could only wonder why she'd want to be allies formally though, he was certain that kal hated his guts. oh well. probably had something to do with haruk he figured. she mothered over that boy, maybe she wanted to see him happy.

Erelala didn't move really as Val'atar approached her. His warm breath on her ear held words of poison to her. Her eyes turned a darker shade of scarlet, widening. She snapped her head quickly to speak but it was too late he had grabbed his new interest and vanished.
Erelala stood there stunned, eyes wide, not knowing what to think or do. In a moment of weakness she crumbled to the ground on her knees. Staring at where Val'atar had been just a moment before she turned her eyes down seeing her hands shake. No one, no one had ever snubbed her before. The great beauty that she was. This wasn't like her, not the strong vibrant Erelala... she was better than this, more than this. She stood slowly and pushed the hair from her face, tucking a strand of wispy silver behind her ear. She turned her head, her eyes away from others that were around, so that they would not notice the crystalline droplet trailing down over her soft cheek.
Holding her head high she turned to stroll back toward her steed, her strength forced now as she walks away from the massive gates. She would take her time in dealing hands against Val'atar.

Reivan caught his breath and looked around, somehow he had managed to evade the small force of deadly toys. his heart pounding in his chest he mulled over what had just happened. "Seth..." a burning rage welled up in the depths of his soul, flooding his mind with one thought his eyes narrowed unnaturally into serpentine slits and flared a brilliant red. "she will die for this...fairs only fair she should suffer the same fate as Seth..." slowly he began to laugh, the likes of which caused those around him to move away. "...but she'll still be breathing when I skin her." pulling his cloak around his shoulders he made a straight run for the old guild house of Xukuth d'Roesor.
