Seth nodded in response to Maryl. There wasn't any real hurry for the moment. With all that had happened recently she'd expect a town to become shredded by wind or leveled by an earthquake. As Maryl ad already wandered off to the kitchen, Seth looked over toward the front door once more then sighed before following to the kitchen.

Moriarty approached the front of Cataclysm's Edge. He began to wander around, regarding the various goods on display. Some of the handiwork impressed him. He looked down at his own hands, cursing the way they tremble and prevent him from effectively drawing or carving. He knocked on the side of the building. "Who does the crafting here?" He said to nobody in particular.

As he was passing through the hallway going about his evening Kel believed he heard a tapping noise through the parlor wall. It first struck him as odd seeing as it wasn't the door. He knew the kids weren't outside, and considering the distance from any other city buildings a series of random flying objects seemed unlikely. Shrugging it off, Kel approached the shop door in time to hear inaudible speech mostly absorbed by the wall. With a gentle yank, Kel opened the door, poking his head out to see someone there. "Yes?"

"I'm looking for a rare metal that can absorb magic. It'd be best in the form of a shield" Moriarty said. "Do they have anything like that here?"

"Do we have anything like that?" Kel repeated before answering, "No. This is a custom shop. I don't generally keep stock equipment and what I do have hanging around is low end. I can make one though." Sifting through his memory for a material to fit the description of absorbing magic, Kel looked down at the step below the doorway momentarily. "Well, if you want to outright nullify magic effects Arbanite should do it. I'd have to check storage to see if I have some." Which is unlikely. I can't remember the last time an order like that came in. Kel shrugged.

Maryl spent her after dinner evening relaxing quietly in her room. her spellbook was resting in the center atop her bead opened to a random page as Maryl paced about beside her bead worrying over what she hadn't been able to see. A sudden sight appeared to her like a flash of lightning, giving her a brief shock. It was immediately gone and left little for her to figure out. Giving off a frustrated sigh, Maryl threw herself upon her bed, rolling onto her face and covering her head with a pillow as she groaned growing irritated.

"No, I wish to collect the energy that the magic puts out." Moriarty said. "To be stored for future use. I practice a magic which requires a lot of built up energy, often more than I can summon on my own."

Kel shrugged, "Ah. Well that would require arcane crystal. It can be bonded to a certain type of metal alloy, and neither is particularly difficult to come by." He paused briefly thinking back on that statement then his experience with the materials prior, a red flag went off in his mind. At least arcane crystal isn't difficult to come by. I've yet to find a thorium mine since I moved here. There's still a good amount of ground to cover. It was pretty abundant back in the old world though. Leaving the thought aside, Kel eked out his own questioning. "Anyhow, pending said material. What type of shield are you looking for?"

"A small, round, disc shield." Moriarty said. "Preferably oner that is lighter weight. Spare no expense, I would like a maximum concentration of the arcane crystal. It doesn't need to be strong or sturdy, just lightweight and absorbent. I have managed to acquire etherium, if that will help." He produced a small bar of glowing, transparent, metallic ether.

"It can help. I mean if you spend a lot of time around ghosts, etherium would allow them to lift the shield instead of stumbling through it. On that note, if one tries to flail at you you could stop it." Kel shrugged, "Okay. Anything else? Aesthetic requests, engravings, things like that?" He asked, taking a small notebook and pencil from his back pocket. After flipping the pad open to a blank page he quickly started to jot down the order notes. It was better to do it now since an actual commission was being discussed.

"It's funny that you should mention ghosts. My employees recently finished some renovations on a severely haunted piece of property I purchased. A few of them died in the process. They will be missed." Moriarty said. The smile did not leave his face. "Oh, the shield should be white, with a black hourglass engraved on the front, and 'Lateralus' written below"

"That'll take paint or solvent dye. None of the requested materials are either color." Kel pointed as he was about half way through a quick sketch on his notepad. Raising an eyebrow at the sketch, he continued, "your employees have my condolences." He said indifferently before placing a dot to finish his notes. He flipped the pad shut and put both it and the pencil away and nodded. "Okay. Anything else?"

"I don't think so. I'm sure you know better than I what goes in to making a good shield. You can make any adjustments you want." Moriarty said. "Thank you kindly."

"Alright, I'll take any supplies you contribute and the invoice will be written and delivered around the time of completion." Kel held out a hand to wait for Moriarty to hand him the etherium bar before he would turn his focus to the gate leading to the open section of the shop.

Moriarty handed over the ethereum, and gave a small bow. "I will return later for it." He said. He turned and walked away from the store, aiming to kill some time doing meaningless things.
