stardust12706 I play my mom's 33 year old flute! And next year for marching/concert band, her piccolo! blaugh They work great! But, I seem to have a problem playing the flute. My mom told me that my cheeks puff out when I play, and is that normal to do? If so, any tips on how to stop? sweatdrop Flutes rule! heart 3nodding That is a common problem. You shouldnt do that. that means you are trying to blow too hard. If you try to focus your air more, it might fix its self. if it doesnt all i can suggest is take the head of your flute and stand infront of a mirror and blow into it. if you notice your cheeks puffing out, change something that you are doing. It's alot of trial-and-error. Also, good luck with piccolo. xd It is alot of fun. One tip: DONT GIVE UP! It is very unlikely you will pick up a piccolo and play it as well as you do your flute on the first try, but it gets easier.

Yeah, I think it is rare to find male flautists, but that never stopped James Galway, lol. We have none in school and 2 in local concert band.
Me and my friend (clarinetist, pfft) always fights about whether clarinet or flute is better. I mean, flute, obviously! xp Wonder what instrument I play mrgreen
