TtheHero And judging by the music, he seemed to almost be a shoo-in.
Damn you Square!!! crying Now, now. We can't get mad over a possibility. I mean, don't you think there would be some major stuff in Subspace Emissary that's weird because a whole character was taken out? What about a stage? Just one song for a whole character? Then again, maybe that's what the delay was for...

I wonder whether if SquareEnix has something against Nintendo or something.. Like they don't want to assist Nintendo in making profits or something.. They won't let them release any SquareEnix games on the Virtual Console either, and there were a lot of great games, including Super Mario RPG by either Square Soft or Enix on the NES, SNES, and.. possibly the other consoles as well. >_>
Though they do still make games on DS and Wii.. What's their plan? Why hold out on old games?

SE characters appeared in Mario Hoops 3 on 3, and it may be Nintendo that isn't putting Final Fantasy games and SMRPG on the VC yet. Hell, it's probably Square, because they're rereleasing all of these games on Nintendo's handhelds. That is another point, because Square is remaking the Final Fantasies for GBA and DS, and the DS is getting The World Ends With You, and then SE's other RPG franchise, Dragon Warrior, is getting remakes on the platform as well. So I really don't know what it would be about. This is why I'm a bit skeptical.

Well I suppose there are other title we can worry about, like Earthbound...
..Or you personal fav, Fish... Kirby Superstar! Now I know THAT deserves to be on VC!
But then... there's this news I hear of a DS remake...

Well, I found this on the net.
"On Friday, November 23, 2007, RPG Magazine’s issue number 5 wrote, “Square-Enix is considering bringing back Super Mario RPG by making a sequel on the DS. The sequel would include more characters from the Final Fantasy universe.” However, there has been no such confirmation from either Nintendo or Square Enix."
So I guess its just a rumor.

I certainly do not want more 3rd party characters to be added to the Smash Bros. list. I started playing Smash Bros. because of the Nintendo characters, and I'd like it to stay that way.
I really hope they make a sequel to Super Mario RPG...it's the best SNES game ever.

LoL. Of course.. ._.; Remakes. I forgot about that.. That's practically 1/3rd of what they've been doing these days, unfortunately for us older gamers. D= I suppose they're just trying to reach towards the younger generation who haven't experienced all of their great, original games they've had by bringing them back on handheld remakes. @_@ Which would be a big reason why they would want to avoid releasing old games on Virtual Console when games would cost at the most $10 each, when a remake can be sold for $30 or $40.
... I suppose as far as Geno goes, like the interview stated, SquareEnix didn't approach Nintendo to add him into the roster like the other companies did for Snake and Sonic... which means that they would have had to go through a loooong process of getting legal rights of using Geno in the game on both terms of Nintendo and SquareEnix, and with a deadline on when the game had to be completed, they weren't able to squeeze him in..

And had they done so, it would've resulted in ANOTHER delay, which would then lead to riots and granny pushing.
Other companies have done remakes, but to give the games a funky fresh look.
I mean, look at this vid here!

...Look familiar?
Now I would LOVE to frickin play this game, cause it's a fav series of mine. But guess what? JAPAN ONLY!

Unfortunately for us older gamers?? The reason they're remaking them is for us. It's that whole "remember playing this game when you were younger and how great it was?", also known as nostalgia, compared with "look at all of the things we've changed and how much better it looks, this warrants a new purchase rather than you getting a ROM. I'd think that the only new gamers that would be buying these games are the ones that like Kingdom Hearts and some of the *gasp* newer Final Fantasies. Locke Trufeld ... I hadn't heard that Sega approached Nintendo about putting Sonic in Brawl. I thought it was due to the results of the Japan poll, and that all of their top ten picks (other than Geno) had been put in Brawl.

I suppose the nostalgia factor plays a big role too in the sales of remake games.. o_o' I suppose it wouldn't be an "unfortunate" thing for us in general if they were to do this then.. but rather just my own opinion on paying money to play the same game again, with possibly very few, minor add-ons in the game.. >_< Man, predicting marketing sales by thinking like a customer can be hard... Taking a marketing class right now in college right now.. not that I even have any interest in it..
But.. yeah. I'm pretty sure that Sega approached Nintendo to add Sonic in as well. Maybe not as far as the guy who made Metal Gear did, what not with him like.. practically begging him to put him in Smash Bros. o_o' Maybe Sega saw the polls in Japan and made this decision.. or they knew and was already planning on doing so. XD
