Manguusu So I had two wisdom teeth taken out on Thursday. Yikes. My husband had all 4 removed in one day. I've only ever had one tooth removed, and it was not fun. Eltanin Sadachbia Aww Scarlet... I wish there was a way for me to make you feel better... I have been having issues with finding a place to work as well. I thought I had something lined out, but it seems to have fell through, and since I have been a stay-at-home mom for 4 years now, no one seems to want me... As for weight-loss, I have plateaued. I am not losing pounds anymore. I am losing inches, but I want to see the scale go down more. I am starting the Ducan Diet with my mom today, and maybe that will reset my dieting side of losing tonnage. I'll keep you posted on if it works for me, maybe it is something your husband could try. ... as for books, maybe you could find PDF. torrents of them to use until you buy them? I know it's shady, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta. It's just part of life. It wouldn't be so bad if my work didn't just stop paying me. They "lost my check." evil The weight loss is difficult because my husband needs more B vitamins than I do and has strange reactions to soy, so a lot of the "health food" out there gives him bizarre mood swings. I'm happy being predominantly vegetarian. Both my daughter and I are total herbivores. My husband TRIED a mostly-vegetarian diet, but the sudden drop in iron and B vitamins had him swinging dangerously towards depression. So finding any sort of consistent diet that promotes health and weight loss is complicated at best. My teacher has a twisted sense of humor--the books are not even on Amazon, they're so rare. stressed

My husband TRIED a mostly-vegetarian diet, but the sudden drop in iron and B vitamins had him swinging dangerously towards depression. So finding any sort of consistent diet that promotes health and weight loss is complicated at best. Well, something I like about the Ducan diet is it's approach to meat. I am a total carnivore, and the first stage is a pure protein stage in which you eat foods that are as close to pure protein as you can get. I am pretty much sticking to eggs this week, as it is the least expensive purest protein to get, but I am happy because I don't have to leave out my favorite part of dinner when I cook for everyone else. You are supposed to stick to the proteins during your attack phase which gives you a jump on losing weight, and then incorporate non-carb veggies after a certain period. Then you hold with that until you reach your weight-loss goal, and then there is another 2 steps of the program that you incorporate to slowly reintroduce the other parts of your diet you were previously used to, that is meant to keep your body from rebounding back to its old size. My mom has a friend who lost weight on this diet (significant weight, I might add) and my mom is one of those people who technically clings to every word that Dr. Oz says, so when she saw this diet on his show, she was ready to try it. When I found out that my favorite food group was the main attraction, I decided I would oblige her pleas to join her. LOL

well, here's hoping my personal good news lightens the mood. sweatdrop
I honestly can't believe it, I'm still waiting to find out what the catch is, but...
I'VE GOT FINANCIAL AID! biggrin 9 GRAND WORTHE!!
I've got about 6500 dollars in Grants... but also, offers of Loans I can apply for that can increase it to 9k. I'm not gonna apply for the Loans until I find that I realy need the extra cash, cause I'm always iffy about Loans. I done the whole Loan Shark thing before, and I've also been screwed in minor ways tha I would rather not repeat on a larger scale. not to mention the whole story behind my credit debt... >.>
but HOLY s**t! xd this is AMAZING! biggrin

Anyone know of a good nasal decongestant that's natural? I can't really take any meds right now and still don't have insurance so...

LOL And here I was thinking you were on the Duncan Donuts diet. sweatdrop Still, this might be a good way to go (except my hubby doesn't like eggs much). I'll mention it to him.

The eggs aren't a must, it is just the source of protein I am planning to rely on.
...and I guess that it's actually spelled Dukan... but anyway... my spelling ability sucks. xp

Aakosir Anyone know of a good nasal decongestant that's natural? I can't really take any meds right now and still don't have insurance so... steaming it out works best as far as naval remedies that I know of go. I'm sure there are others, but I'd have to look them up. the steam in a hot shower can work, but I was brought up with one particular naval remedy. peel some oranges and boil them in a pot of water. bring the pot of swimming citrus peel into your bedroom and let the oil-filled steam fill the room while you breath. I hope this helps.

As far as natural remedies go... I like to use essential oils in my oil burners.
When I am stuffed up, I will use Eucalyptus oil in my burner, but that isn't always easy to find.
Another thing that works for me is to put a tablespoon of Mint extract in my oil burners and boil it. It is a bit overpowering when you can smell, but it works wonders for me when I can't.
As for non-natural... I swear by Zicam: Severe Congestion Relief... it works in like 30 seconds, and it last at least 6 hours, sometimes longer. I hardly even take anything for my sinuses orally anymore. I don't even like nasal sprays, but Zicam is actually a gel, and it doesn't 'drown' me when I use it. You couldn't get a nasal spray within a foot of my face before my sister-in-law convinced me I had to try it one particularly miserable day... and I know I sound like a damned commercial, but it really is that good. Just be sure to get the SEVERE CONGESTION RELIEF, it's better than the others.

So...Heh...the environmental guys tested our air for mold after the containment unit had been set up are 8 TIMES the lethal amount for someone with a penicillin allergy. As if things weren't F*ed up enough.

So... good news. My computer is working again. It ended up that I had a software glitch so I wiped my computer and reinstalled the OS. In other news, my wife and I still might get divorced. I would appreciate prayers/good wishes/whatever over this issue.
@ chieftain: Glad to hear you got some aid. It really helps when trying to afford school alongside life lol! heart

I just need to find them in my mountain of boxes. I'm pretty sure I know where one is though. My sister-in-law has a mint plant that I may be able to use too.

I think that's what they're called. It's a bottle of salene solution that you spray into your nose till everything comes out... icky but it works... or so I'm told.

Netty pot... wink
... and they are great at the the onset of sinus congestion, or to help clean out what's left after you start to get better from congestion, but they aren't very comfortable to use when you are in the middle of the worst of it. It just seems to add to the liquid in my head when I use them in the middle of the bad stuff.
