Flutes fun to play. Except for the whole angles thing. UHG....I can't ever tell if it's up right! But it was pretty cool last week I got to march with a tuba...If you haven't marched with a tuba I suggest you should. It gives you a whole new oppinion on the tuba players....and your flute/pic...|D * rubs sore shoulder* I respect you tuba players.

Now let's have some fun...I've been playing flute for about two years. But I need some help with the high notes. I know the fingering, but all you can hear when I play anything above third octave G is a airy sound. Help? D:Forget about our mothers and our friends

you gotta work on ur emboshure (sp?) the way you form ur mouth, and u need to blow faster air to get the high notes out its not all about the fingerings smile as for low notes, its eaiser for me to drop my jaw a little and blow slower air.but if u tilt your flute downwords, make sure that your head is tilted with the flute. theres a girl in my flute section who plays with her flute tilted and her head upstright. if your still having problems with the high notes i suggest either privite lessons (thats what i do, i'm in my 4th year of flute and i can already play better than the seniors at the highschool no they dont suck... they earn 1st place in pretty much every comatition) or after-school sessions with your band directior.

I'm here! I have a really old flute and it keeps breaking. I'm trying to convince my parents to get me a new one. They say maybe when I get to high school... yay!

Lost in Wonderland92 get a yamaha!!!! they are pricey but definitely worth it!!!
oh i tryed a yamaha when i was looking for my flute and it was terrible. it was way to expensive and it sounded bad too.i'm a gemeinhardt girl all the way. you should try somthing besides a yamaha, the difference is amazing

I heard that Gemeinhardt flutes have a tendency to brake easily.

I've been playing for a little more than two years. I'm in the highest band (8th grade honor band) in my school, and I'm in third chair! I was happy, because honor band has seven flutists, five of which are 8th graders. I'm a 7th grader, and the only other 7th grader in my band is in 7th chair. So I was happy because that basically makes me the best 7th grade flutist in the school! 4laugh

who told you that? i have 2 gemeineheardts my old one i rented was at least 7 years old and he told me it had never been in the shop and i never had a problem with it (it sounded great for a student flute!) and my new student flute and my conseravtory flute is amazing. my stand partner has a yamaha and it breaks ALL the time.

I'm a flutist too. I'm a freshman in college and have been playing the flute for about 7 years now. >_< So how long have people been playing the flute?...We need more flutes here. Come on flutes!

andand i had a chair test too!! i did horrible though. i got 2nd to last sweatdrop
it makes me kinda mad cause im totally not that bad!! scream
andand were doing pep band stuff too! its freakin annoying! gonk
anyways,flute is pretty much THE best.ever.everever.
