So I kind of started a holy war in Barton, then left for roughly 2 weeks and a half.

Not a whole lot. You left, so in order to move things on after waiting twelve days, we skipped the whole war scene of the arena and assumed we drove you out, killed you all, or captured you's or something and moved things along. Really up to you to decide what happened to your guys.
