At the sound of her superiors voice the blonde became rigid, freezing in position long after the kitsune had withdrawn. The confrontation had escalated and come to a close before even she had come to realization.
Returning her blade to its unseen sheath, she fell back watching the small group amidst uncomfortable silence that followed the purple haired man's words.
It was appalling to think anyone would be so foolish as to insert himself into confrontation without first knowing exactly what it was about. He was lucky he had only come out of the engagement with as little damage as he had sustained
Returning he attention to the back of the commanders head she sigh warily wondering what he had in mind. It seemed as though they had been waiting an eternity to continue.
Breaking his long silence which seemed to be borne from some seeming need for dramatization the long coated man strolled towards the red fox seemingly ignoring the words of the purple haired gentlemen.
"Well I suppose we have all had a moment to gather our bearings. Truth be told despite the armament that we carry, we had no intention of engaging you prior to my colleagues attack. For that I must sincerely apologize."
Turning his back to the group and strolling toward the slowly reacclimating group soldiers who had fallen from Red's mental suggestion. With inaudible order he gestured for the man to return to his post by the helicopter.
"As I shall reiterate Pangaea sect is a group authorized in dealing with likes of those who abilities far beyond those of the average...citizen...I suppose. From what I can assume at this point, your group falls under this jurisdiction."
Shaking some much off his boot he smiled as if something amusing had come to mind.
"As Agent Velazquez already stated, a number of your colleagues had already violated many international treaties and local laws at their whim. As there currently exists few forces with the ability to deal with such individuals a number of special force such as ourselves have formed to facilitate that you follow the aforementioned rules and stipulations that have been placed in society."
Turning his gaze to large expanse of land about them he pushed his glasses higher onto the bridge of his nose.
"I surmise you are all knowledgeable enough to see where we going with this?"
Shuddering within her husbands grasp the mage sputtered blood from her lips her breathing becoming hoarse. Her color had become decidedly more pale as time had drawn on.

The fight officially over, Red assumed a relaxed posture, her left arm falling limp while the right rested on her hip. Usually, pride would have been enough cause for a rivalry to spark between her and Elena, if not all of Pangaea, but anything that might have been quickly dissolved when Unks exposed how little he knew of the situation he had so recklessly pitched himself into. With a roll of her eyes, she washed her hands of any further hostility that might arise between her and this organization.
As the Doctor, as he was calling himself, had decided to approach her, the de facto leader as things appeared, she turned her attention to him for a moment, an unreadable expression on her face. Looking at the situation from a less arrogant point of view, she accepted what he said, though she did not totally approve.
"Perhaps it would benefit you to deliver a copy of the 'aforementioned rules and stipulations' before bringing an entire unit to their doorstep. You can only call your work just if they've had every opportunity to obey the law, which includes being aware of it, and yet still chose to deviate."
Her attention turned to Unks for just a moment, and a sour look decorated her features as she suppressed an impulse. A quick glance at Epithany put things in better perspective.
"I do believe you caused more injury than necessary. Before we attend to ourselves, I request only that you do not interfere with my vendetta. The jurisdiction is your own, but you'll have no reason to be concerned with me if you can accommodate."

Eyeing the ruby kitsune the "Doctor" looked mildly amused.
"I do suppose certain laws can be skirted, but when it comes to security on a national scale such is when we act. You can think of us as more of a check and balance system. We are not here to dictate how you live your lives, but we will step in if your lifestyles places others in dire predicaments.
Once again I really must apologize as Agent Velasquez got away with herself and used a higher degree of force than was likely necessary."
Plucking one of the Cardinal flowers he brought it to his nose.
"An incredible landscape you have at your disposal here. As it is undocumented on official maps we were sent to scout this region and find why previously barren desert now exists as a thriving jungle.
There are considerably greater implications to having a artificially created ecosystem spring from seemingly no where. What of the prior flora and fauna that existed here. Such discrepancies can breed problems one may have not known.
Out of curiosity and civic duty we of the Pangaea sect took it upon ourselves to investigate what occurred here. In a unknown environment which could possibly harbor unseen dangers of the possible supernatural nature we came prepared for the worst. From what occurred here. This was no folly.
As the Drago prattled on, Elena gained a increasingly flustered expression when he spoke of her behavior. The previously haughty nature had given way to the look that chastised child may have had. Clasping her hands behind her back she once again resumed her business like demeanor despite the brief lapse.

"Of course."
There were a number of other things she could have said, but she put on a show of examining her wound. Elena cut clean to her credit; a very efficient fighter, if not unorthodox in just about every other aspect of being. It could be tended to easily. Looking up, she stuffed her hands into the pockets that were impractically tight and could probably hold nothing else had she tried.
A glance flew back to Unks and the paling Epithany, and her eyed flared with rage, but for a moment. If he happened to be looking at her, he would have seen it undeniably. Originally, she had intended to see the Doctor and Elena away before scolding him with more ice in her tone than the subarctic, but there was much too much irritation and frustration for patience and tact.
"Excuse me."
She spoke calmly, and maintained a smooth gait as she walked away from the scene, quiet and no longer concerned with that she literally put behind her. Valin and Konosuke had been pretty silent, but it was better than injured at any rate. They could still serve their purposes. For now though, they were free to their own devices. She had other, more pressing, matters to attend to.

The summer heat cast a haze on the still landscape, making the greenery seem browner and the clear wave enticingly, as though illustrated on a canvas caught in the wind. High above, the sun sat and stared mercilessly on this oasis in the middle of the jungle. Nothing was unaware of its stubborn gaze, but so tired and so wary was everything that they did not even bother with it. Only the waterfall protested, rushing and crashing as hard and as loud as it always did. Before the end of the day, the duel would end in a draw. It always did. The complacence was the result of a preemptive strike; the heat had gotten to everything long before anything could avoid it. Now there was no choice but to accept fate and await the evening. Tomorrow would be the same, because the plants could not move, and the animals had little better to do but sleep anyway. Death was one thing to be concerned with. Discomfort on the other hand, was insignificant.
In the basin of the valley, where the river became the waterfall whose deposits flooded the land, lay the only creature capable of resisting the heat and the sun. However, for some reason, she chose not to. Rather, she lay floating in the water, back submerged, front exposed, staring off into nothingness. Only the water moved her, its flow disrupted and course ever changing. The sun overhead, the woman's eyes were lidded, diverted slightly to the right, and reflected sunlight like rubies beneath her lashes. Her locks of curly red hair splayed in every direction around her head like a halo painted upon a portrait of a saint. This day, she could easily pass for one; fair skinned, peaceful, an enlightened solemnity on her inattentive face, naked as the day she came screaming into the world. It would be a concept piece, yes, but her body would be a god's message all the same.
The saint life was not for this woman. Let others be at peace with the world and guide the ignorant to do the same. Let them cast light into darkness and appease hunger without food. Let them bring rain to the desert and life to the dead. Let them do many things, and teach many things, and let the world love them. Hers was not a life of sainthood, of enlightenment, nor of salvation. More philanthropy was not something this world needed yet. Only so much good comes from kindness.
Floating aimlessly to and fro in the large basin, the ruby kitsune's mind had long ceased such ruminations. In her world, the ability to stop thinking was a luxury. She could not enjoy it though, because to be conscious of it would ruin the experience. The moment would be a lost, uneventful memory; a large pocket of darkness and silence that somehow felt comforting. Perhaps, in her lifetime, this would be the closest she got to salvation. It would be enough for her. Admirable. Depressing.

Most of her discomfort was drifting away behind her as she sped through the northern skies for the alleged patch of jungle. It was very likely that the growing warmth had a hand in her ease. Cold weather was certainly not her cup of tea, and Canada was cold; especially northern Canada. For some reason though, as she got closer and closer to the rendezvous point, the air got warmer. Maybe those agents were right. She didn't know much about dimensional distortion or whatever, but apparently there was a jungle where there should, by all rights, not be one.
Her descent went smoothly with so little on; slim jeans, a baby blue spaghetti strap tank, and a pair of comfortable walking shoes - white with blue stripes extending from the laces. her usual attire was so ill fitting this highly preferable warm climate. Even the body suit was done away with. Although this too was strange to her, she felt freer as she was than she did in most usual circumstances. Perhaps that had a bit to do with her rising comfort as well.
With little in the way of air resistance, she glided downward like a sleek, human missile. Ahead she could see the valley, and below lay the last of the tree cover. Plain sight, even all the way out here, was not as safe as it used to be. She landed almost soundlessly in a crouch, her green eyes scanning in the direction of the many energies about her. Nothing seemed to move, and no one came out of hiding to approach her. Satisfied with a brief twenty-second wait, she stood straight and made her way forward on foot.
She really wished she could have gotten closer before having to expose herself, but the place was not designed for her convenience. Biting her lip in frustration, she contemplated the many ways she could go about this. She could approach with a sense of respectful timidity, or charge in aggressively - likely her most advantageous move. She could wander seemingly aimlessly as well, but that was the most indirect and awkward decision, and she quickly discarded the option. With little choice, she simply emerged from the woods with a purpose and gazed down into the valley.
Naturally, there was a beach on the other side. There was nothing else there, but if the woods opened up to that, it would have been a lot easier to do this. With a sigh of disappointment, she clung to the wall as though her life depended on it and began her descent along the wall of the valley. The air was incredibly still, though with the heat and the light reflected off of the water, one would not be so sure. She kept her energy as low as she dared as she drew nearer and -
Paused at the foot of the path, she adjusted her eyes and stared into the basin. "Oh mah," she thought to herself, a shameless blush reddening her cheeks. Even from so far, her blood was racing, her heart fluttering. There was only so much you could learn about a woman. In her reverie, she hadn't noticed that her body had finished the crossing and left her standing at the edge of the artificial beach. When the realization struck her, she recomposed herself despite the darkening red of her cheeks. Now was not the time for petty crushes.

The stillness of the place did not bother her. Creatures, being either predator or prey, tended to treat one another with the proper reverence. Prey saw her as an alien threat. Being anthropomorphic, she was familiar, but sharing vulpine coding made her an anomaly. Thus prey was quick to avoid her, but careful to watch her, measure her up, and report their findings to their bretheren later. Predators found her curious. Would she invade their territory? Encroach on their hunting grounds? Perhaps develop a cooperative bond with the prey? They too watched, ready to strike her down or accept her dominance, but only from a distance. Getting closer was always possible, but fleeing. Predators were unaccustomed to fleeing.
Sensing, rather than knowing the time, the ruby kitsune's mindfulness slowly resurfaced as she righted herself in the water. Twisting and rotating, her feet found solid ground below her and she stared off at the waterfall above. The crashing sound at the base was not unfamiliar to her. Natural, fearsome power. So little energy expended.
"What do you want?"
She spoke as though she commanded the answer rather than asked for it. Her voice was impatient, but not recognizably angry or calm. Turning around to face her unexpected companion, the ruby kitsune's eyes held a very sharp gaze, her expression unreadable save the very clear understanding that she would not defer to whoever this person was. She intended to stay, regardless of the inconveniences it may cause.

The sound of the woman's voice disarmed her and immediately reduced her to feeling much like a child being scolded by an impatient mother, or maybe an older sister. Her cheeks burned with embarrassment rather than lust, and the level of offense she discovered at being so effectively neutralized returned her more to her natural self.
"P'haps it would be better were Ah t'introduce mahself first," she responded defiantly. "Mah name is Diana. Ah'm a memba of an elite group o'genetically modifahd beings referred to as Unit 97." She smiled as though proud of herself, being able to put this woman in her place. There were very few people in the world she answered to, and she had almost been made to do the same for this woman almost against her better senses. It was therefore very satisfying to not tell this woman exactly what she wanted to know.

Red gave this girl - Diana apparently - nothing to fuel her self-satisfied smugness. She maintained the same impatient, dominant expression, her gaze no less sharp for the defiance offered her. When it became clear to her at length that the conversation would die if she didn't say or do something, the kitsune pointed her chin to the arrogant girl's left, where a duffel bag lay on the sand, so far out of place in the valley.
"My clothes are in there. Give it to me and I will get dressed. Then we can talk."
The edge in her voice was sharper this time, as though she intended her words to pierce the girl's soul. Would that she were so fortunate. All the while that she waited, the keen look in her eyes vigilantly held her unwanted companion. There was no respect between them already, and significantly less trust. She dreaded whatever conversation they were soon to have, but it was the quickest, least violent way of going about things.

Disarmed again, Diana was on the move toward the duffle bag before she could stop herself. Irritated as she was, she decided to continue what she had begun. She hadn't noticed the bag before, but now that she had, she was quite frustrated with it. Were it not there, she could have perhaps assumed the alpha position between the two women. Instead, the inanimate container had proven the instrument of her unwitting subservience - in a manner of speaking. Worst of all, she couldn't pretend to be upset with it for too long because she found the woman more enticing than she cared to admit.
She picked up the bag, and merely examined it at first. Part of her was tempted to see what was inside. From that distance, there was no way the woman could make it back to shore in time to stop her. It would be just the blow to her pride needed for Diana to get the upper hand between them. Things would be significantly easier if she led rather than followed.
As it stood, since she agreed to let this fox-woman dress first, she could only do so much to assert herself. The redhead could easily decide to make her wait as long as was desirable to drive the point home that things would go her way or they wouldn't go at all. That in mind, despite the fact that she was not particularly fond of swimming, Diana took a few into the water to deliver the bag. Maybe if she were lucky, she'd get a touch of skin.

She could tell what the brunette was thinking without reading minds, and she all but openly dared the girl to do it and face the consequences. Her instructions were simple and clear, and examining the contents of the bag were not among them. Her eyes narrowed as she waited for Diana to make up her mind. Would she be so bold as to look through Red's things or would she show a bit more common sense than that? After a time, it seemed the latter of two outcomes was to come about, but the girl still proved capable of folly.
"I said 'give it to me,' not 'bring it to me.' Place it in the water."
Already this girl was proving to be ridiculously incompetent. What sane person would stand by naked and let a total stranger, even one who was doing them a favor, approach them? The firmness in her tone belied a touch of this disbelief without damaging her position. She rolled her eyes as though fed up with the entire ordeal. If the girl truly wished to be talked to as a child, it could be done.

With a dramatic sigh of exasperation, Diana threw her hip out in apparent frustration. She glared furiously at the redhead, prepared to project daggers from her eyes. Even among her actual superiors, she was regarded with more respect, What's more, she was going out of her way to show this woman undue kindness, only to be met with condescension.
Falling short of hurling the duffel bag, she negligently tossed it into the water, about halfway between the two of them. Were she less irritated, she might have taken a moment to appreciate the fact that the bag floated perfectly above water and drifted away as though it were the most natural thing to have happened in such a situation. In her own mind, she was considering a transition into a much more direct approach and just washing her hands of this entire ordeal. She had enough of being in this place around this woman, and would rather be back home than spend another moment in her company.
"Ah would appreciate it if you did not keep me waitin'," she said sourly, before turning her back. If she wasn't watching, she couldn't be reprimanded yet again for some unseen, trivial transgression. "In fact, it would be in your best interest t'hurry."

Red showed no irritation or encouragement for Diana's theatrics. She continued watching her as deliberately as before. Nothing that was going on was so far out of her control that she was useless even to herself. There was no reason to appear more domineering or be more assertive for a tantrum. She waited for the current to bring her duffel within arm's reach, all the while watching this stranger with mild suspicion.
Collecting her belongings, she began a breast stroke across the basin toward the waterfall. The strap of the duffel bag fluttered helplessly and chaffed against her right wrist as it rose and fell cyclically into the water, dragging her on her back further and further from the beach.
Behind the waterfall lay a nook carved out by the falling waters. It was large enough for Red to stand on solid ground, which was enough. When she had donned her clothing, she walked through the falls back into the pool of water and made her return to the beach shore. At her casual pace, it took longer than she likely meant. Nevertheless, Diana was still waiting, watching almost with relief as Red reached shallow water.
"What do you want Diana?"
When she stepped beyond the reach of the tide, she dropped her duffel bag, still weighed down with something. She knelt, opened it, and pulled out a pair of socks and running shoes; white with black to match her denim ensemble. When she donned her footwear, she rose to reveal her jeans to be straight legged, like men would wear, rather than form fitting. She held the piece around her waist with a thin chain belt held fast by a gold padlock. The jacket, worn for form rather than function, was open and loose fitting, like the jeans, but the orange tee beneath it didn't spare an inch of loose fabric.
"In the time it took to tie my shoes, you could have answered my question."

Were it not for the fact that the wait had calmed her, this new blow to her ego would have bothered her much more than she was. As it stood, she was back to admiring and desiring. She did sigh, but only because she was disappointed. Clearly they would never be compatible with one another.
"Ah thought it would be polite t'wait until you were comf'table. Ah don't come bearin' good news afta all." She herself decided to take a seat on the warm sands. The sensation, even through her clothes, made her wish she could afford the luxury to recline on the beach naked herself.
"It would have been nahs if we could have had a meanin'ful conversation before we had t'faht. Th'likelihood of me leaving without killin' you is pretty slim, that is."
A quick survey of the woman's face made it obvious that a bounty on her head was news. Even if she was unpleasant, she was lovely, and Diana regretted having to be the one to kill her. Somehow, she always got stuck with the beautiful ones.
"Allow me t'explain before. Actually, there isn't much t'say about it. My companions and Ah are still technically experiments, but we get very little real world field practice. You're aware of th'new military under General Rutum?" When the woman clearly refused to confirm or deny her knowledge, Diana huffed and continued.
"Anyway, to speed things along, General Rutum has a list of individuals whose threat level far exceeds th'average. You're on th'list and it is mah job t'capture or kill you.
"It would be a great courtesy if you just came with me willingly."
