I've been sort of out of the music loop for awhile now and I'm looking for some new tunes to spice up my life. I'll list a couple of my favorite bands, the type of music of mostly listen to and then you guys can recommend away.
Bands: Dir en grey Dragonforce Sonata Arctica Dimmu Borgir
Type: Metal Japanese music [any style] Trance some hip hop

Ayumi Hamasaki and Utada Hikaku are good Japanese singers. Hmm, I'd say you might like Basco Bros. for the hiphop. They have all sorts of beats. You can look them up on myspace or on iTunes. blaugh I rather like their "Gangsta" song. xd

I might have to check that out.

And there's blackened and melodic versions of most of them.
There's even blackened melo-progressive war metal with nu influences. gonk
